Standing at only 5’6” and being of dainty build, she often blends seamlessly into a crowd. Her quiet demeanor is reflected as well in her walk and stance, not wishing to draw much attention to herself. The only thing keeping her from going completely unnoticed is the bright red hair in contrast to pale white skin and green eyes. She keeps a youthful appearance, having not changed much since her own time at Hogwarts, which inadvertently makes people think she is much younger than she is. Has even been mistaken for a student and denied service in bars because of it. No unique piercings or tattoos.

Muggle-born, her acceptance letter to Hogwarts was quite the surprise to herself and her parents. Her parents were very supportive, however, and the three of them immersed themselves into the wizarding world. Although sorted into Ravenclaw house for her intelligence, studious personality and quick wit, it was often joked that if she was not a muggle-born she would have been sorted into Slytherin for her cunning and interest in the dark arts. It didn’t take long for Meg to find her passion in Potions, a subject in which she was naturally gifted; this caused a rift in her house as she often spent most of her time in the dungeons with the Slytherins instead of her own common room.
In her last couple years of schooling she became entranced with werewolves after having a close encounter with one on an unsupervised midnight stroll through the Forbidden Forest looking for potion ingredients. From there, she learned as much as she could about the creatures and actually befriended the student that had put her life at risk. This “obsession” led her to develop a theory that she would not get to test until the year after her Hogwarts graduation, when she was eventually able to brew an Animagus potion. This took many trips to Knockturn Alley for rare ingredients, not a place where a muggleborn former Ravenclaw was most welcome. But, due to the frequency in which she went, she was eventually known and left alone.
The successful brewing of the Animagi potion is something Megara still considers her greatest success, as it is the most difficult process, to say the least. The daily incantation was easy enough to remember, and holding the leaf of a mandrake in her mouth for a month sounded easy enough, but no one prepared her for the taste. By the end, she had practically spit the leaf out. By the time the preparation was finished, waiting for a proper lightning storm was anxiety producing. However, it all became worth it.
Meg brewed this potion despite the risk of becoming a half-human/half-animal creature for the rest of eternity. To the surprise of even herself, however, the potion was a success. Her theory was that if she could transform herself into a wolf, despite not being a full werewolf, she would be safe on the night of the full moons to interact and thus further her studies of werewolves. Now she is able to turn into a wolf at will, however continues to only do so during the full moons to locate and run with local werewolf packs. She continued her potion work and werewolf studies after her Hogwarts graduation, having a successful freelance career discovering and publishing new information on werewolves, animagi, and potions.
That all changed, however, when 2 years ago all muggleborn witches and wizards were forced to register themselves. It was as if none of her publications or findings held any merit anymore. No one took anything she said or did seriously. Her wand being snapped and being uprooted from her home was the nail in the coffin. Without a wand, the only magic she was able to perform was her monthly Animagus transformations, but even that was heavily monitored as she was registered/known as one of those as well. Never would she think that running with werewolves would be the absolute highlight of her time, but that's what it became when it was the only thing she could do with any sense of freedom. A part of her thinks that she was only allowed this because the purebloods thought that the werewolves would quickly shred her to bits.
She was able to brew potions, sure, but without a wand to wave they were just a combination of ingredients with no real purpose. Plus, ingredients were hard to find when you were no longer able to roam the dark alleys without the risk of death. This threat not only impacted her life directly, but also those of her parents. But as soon as everything started going down, she cut ties, not willing to put their lives at risk for their connection to her. Megara's parents met as young adults at university. Both were majoring in social work, and bonded over their goal to improve the lives of those less fortunate. They were married shortly after graduation and both took jobs in the department of child services helping foster children find families with eventual hopes of adoption. Of course they both loved children, and so when her mother ended up pregnant it was a joyous occasion. After her birth, her mother stayed home while her father took a completely different government job in order to make more money and pay the bills. They decided that one child was all they needed, so Megara grew up as an only child. Overall, they were your average, happy, muggle family. When their daughter received a strange letter on her 11th birthday, they immersed themselves into the magical world as much as they could and were extremely supportive. They continued to be so throughout their daughter's school year and adult life until recently, when it became a very dangerous time for muggleborns. Of course Gordon and Beatrice Grant wouldn't know THAT much about the happenings in the wizarding world, only what Meg chooses to tell them, but she has not been that forthcoming with information recently. Unbeknownst to them, their daughter is doing them a favor in attempts to keep them safe by shunning them from her life. This has caused a rift in their relationship, and is something Megara hates herself for having to do, but do it she must.

Megara was unable to sleep and disliked taking sleeping draughts, which is why she was instead walking to and fro in the underground portion of the castle, and although her bejeweled black robe graced the floor, it did little to keep out the chill of the dungeons. Especially since she was barefoot. She figured that everyone was asleep in their beds so she didn’t have to worry about being that presentable.
She was currently going back and forth between a closet, which she used for the abundance of potion ingredients she kept, and a door that only appeared at her will and command; it opened to a staircase that led further down into the dungeons, where she had potions that either had incredibly long brew times, or shouldn’t be able to be accessed by just any passerby.
Due to the late hour, she was not concerned about anyone walking through the dungeon halls; that was until she came back up the staircase, flinging the door open into what was definitely a human body.
