You want the strings so you can
Pull at my soul and tear me down
You want it all, I'm not your marionette doll
So let me go, oh

Not having William around any more to vent to when she was having a rough day made her life a little difficult. She didn't have the same boss any more either, it was a little frustrating but a reminder that she could not constantly think that things were always going to stay the same. Nothing stayed the same and thinking so was beyond stupid, it was a thing that she had learned a long time previously, but like all lessons sometimes you need a refresher on them. Work was quiet these days and she liked it. There was little drama, and things were running like a ship. The new Minister had done a good job in cleaning the place up and she was sure that things would continue to move at a good pace this way.

She was carrying files back to her desk and stopped to allow someone to get into the lift with her. A younger pureblood witch. Lady Carrow if she remember correctly. The witch was young and well connected. She had a good family and a lot going for her. It did make Ari a little jealous at times, but then she often wished that her life was different from the one that she had currently. Perhaps if she had done what she had been bid when she was younger than she would never have gone through some of the things that she had. "Headed up to our floor?" She asked the young woman with a small smile as her free hand hung onto the hook for herself. She could have been going further for all Arianna knew.

"Anything fun going on?" She wasn't one for idle blathering, but she was lonely.

There were pros and cons to having gotten this job at the Ministry, lately. It hadn't been hard, really. One talk with aunt Nora and it'd been done, she'd been expected at work Monday morning. It offered a distraction, it got her a foot in the door for when she finished her studies and started building her career properly, and it allowed her to meet the people that mattered. The cons were, of course, that she had to be genteel and polite and that her father was always about. That she had to dress carefully and properly and always had to bother remembering everyone's damn names. That part was terrible. The neutral part was that she got to spend more time with Lancelot. She had lunch with her husband, they talked and discussed what they had to take care of, and she made sure he was behaving. Usually she wouldn't worry, but ever since Lady Lestrange had taken over the Ministry, Rabastan Lestrange had become head of the hit wizard training program. Lancelot -occasional loose canon and not completely sane- in close contact with his father -constant loose canon and far from sane- every day was a very risky thing. So risky, in fact, that she was considering discarding her plan of graduating before having children in case the man actually killed Lance.

Of course she might be exaggerating, but the chance was there. She had to plan for everything since, after all, that was her job in this marriage. Lancelot was only the heir because Amycus had had a daughter and refused to marry again to have more kids, which meant that Amy had to worry not only about Lancelot but also about his entire family line. She had to have a son and if he died at the hand of his father because he was an idiot and the man was a lunatic, it would be problematic. So this was what she was considering at the moment, and she wasn't liking the conclusions she was reaching. Not that it showed on her face or her work ethic, she was doing a perfect job even with a house and a marriage to manage and a double major study. All while being pleasant and kind. It was such a drag, having to mind her manners with absolutely everyone. What did anyone care if she was rude to a damn halfblood? What did anyone care about that anymore? Absolutely ridiculous-

"Yes, thank you." She offered a gentle smile and a nod, folding her hands at her front as she stood in the elevator with... what was her name again? An assistant from a minor office. James? Something like that. Something unimportant like that. "Going out to dinner with my husband tonight, and yourself?" She was, actually, not that Lancelot knew of it just yet.
