Landslide
Bring Me Down
When she had met him, Nell hadn't quite realized that she was going to fall that hard, or that fast. She hadn't meant to, and who fell for the con man anyway? Her, apparently. Not that he was actually a bad guy, he had the skills of a criminal, but he was more of a private investigator than he was anything. He got the job done though, and that was really all that mattered in the end. He did what needed to be done, and Nell thought that that was the way to get results. They were going to get what they paid for when it came to Wyatt. What she hadn't realized was that they were going to end up where they were quite so quickly. They were just, easy. And it was natural for them to spend the day doing nothing, being lazy, and working in various states of dressed around the castle. It wasn't something that she thought about, she hadn't had to change anything about herself to be with him, and the only thing that she had asked of him, was that the dog sleep outside. She didn't like dogs, but she would tolerate the dog if it came with him.

It was ironic, really, her distaste for dogs, when she would bring a baby dragon into the house, and care for it if it was injured or sick. She didn't see how the two things were even vaguely the same, and Wyatt had tried to explain to her more than once now what he thought, and she just didn't see it. Not for the fact that she was purposefully not seeing it, it was just for the fact that she didn't much like dogs. They weren't the easiest animals for her to get along with, and she thought that there was just some distinct lack of reptilian qualities about them that made her not care for them. That or the lack of magical origins. She didn't think that there was any questioning her devotion to the dragons though. A testament to her grandfather, and to Albus, if there ever was one. She was working with the same journals that they had had. Nell was determined to figure out what they had known, and doing it without them here to guide her... She needed them, she needed their notes, their brains. Nicholas, Perenelle, Albus... She didn't think that she would ever have half of that intelligence.

That wasn't to say that she wasn't brilliant, because she thought that she was. But she knew that she was not them. That no one could ever compare to the originals. She was Perenelle Flamel, but she was not the first Perenelle Flamel. She was one of several. Though she was the only one that was still alive. Doppelgängers. That was what they were. They were all exactly alike once they were grown. Down to the freckle on their left shoulder. At least, on the original Perenelle it was a freckle. Now it was a birthmark. Something that they knew from the start made that blonde baby, with the bright blue eyes, another Perenelle. Being the only one left was hard though. It wasn't something that she was any good at, and she hated it, in a way. Another part of her cherished it though, she knew how special it was, and she knew exactly who she was going to be because of it. Who she had to live up to being in any case. It would, and had, gotten easier. Her grandmother had promised her that when she had been a little girl, and then she had died, and it had been a hard pill to swallow. Watching them die.

Only her brother understood. Her eldest brother. He was the last Nicholas Flamel that had been born when the first had been alive. It was an honor as much as it was a burden. But she knew that it had made her who she was. She knew that she was an alchemist, and a dragonologist, and a journalist, because she wanted to live up to that name. Being here though, she knew that she was focusing on the first of those things. There were some ingredients in her grandfather's notes that she hadn't had at the castle, and that she knew that she wasn't going to be able to find in just any apothecary. It would take a special one, in a special place, to know what it was that she was talking about. And so she had come here. She had thought that this place would be her best bet of finding what it was that she was looking for, and she knew that in the end, she was going to have to admit to someone what she was doing. Wyatt, probably, before she blew herself up on accident. But they weren't there yet. Handing her list to the witch behind the counter to see if she had what it was that Nell was looking for, the blonde looked over her shoulder when she heard the shop door open again.

Being single meant that Percy needed less things, less potions, less food; but being married meant so much more too. He had his wife back, he felt like the prince that finally got his princess after climbing mountain after mountain. He was happy, happier than he had been the first time, but then that could be accounted for when he thought about what he had lost. Their first go around he had not known what he could lose, how it would affect his life and he had just let her go. He had just let her walk out of his life and had not fought for her at all. Yes, it had taken another woman for him to realize the kind of man that he needed to be, but it also meant that he had realized, with one dance, where he belonged.

It hadn’t been a whirlwind romance, it had been something that even Percy had not expected. It was him making amends, it was going the extra mile, it was everything that he had wanted and more. It was exactly what he had thought that it would be, and more. Penelope was exactly what she had been when they were young but there was something more now. There were kisses, and smiles. Laughter and light. There was no pressure and somehow everything just fit right. Their twins, they were a prefect reflection of their parents. They were perfect in Percy’s eyes, but that was only because of their mother. The less they were like him they better off that they would be.

In any estimation he was lucky. To be happy, to have his love, and to have this second chance. It was why he was going the extra mile constantly. It was why he was going to always do so, because she was worth it. She was at work, and he had decided to do the shopping and cook dinner for her when she got home. Though he knew it would be him burning it and then calling his Mum to save the day, but it would always be their little secret if he did. With a smirk on his face he pulled the door open and hummed to himself as he opened the door. The place was a little out of the way, but he trusted them more than any other shop that he had been to. They seemed to be unbiased, and they didn’t judge him based on anything that he bought. Like the contraceptive potions (for his wife and for his daughter). He was trying to be more than great, he was trying to be there best.

This was a challenge. This was something that she hadn't been expecting. That she hadn't thought was going to happen at all. She had thought that she was going to have to try and make sure that there was nothing about this that she wanted to back out on. Because she couldn't see herself backing out of this now. She had fallen into this, and she didn't think that she was going to try and find her way back up. It was something that she hadn't seen coming, but sometimes that was just the way that things worked out. She was happy, and so long as she was happy, she wasn't going to fight this. There was too much to worry about in the world without making it harder on herself by not trusting what was good and right in front of her. She was just going to be okay with this. Nell didn't think that he had been looking for her either, and then he had been there. He had been right in front of her, and she had nearly walked into him. If that wasn't the way to start off a story she didn't know what was.

The way that her life was going right now, she wasn't going to question it. There was a lot of trouble in the world, she wasn't going to add her own to it. She was just going to go with the flow. And right now, Nell thought that that was okay. She thought that she was going to just let things be. Except maybe the dog… The dog she still didn't like, but she would tolerate it. Only for Wyatt's sake. Dogs were… Strange creatures. She had never liked them. They had had them growing up, she knew that most of her brothers had them. Her mother had a Bichon that she couldn't hardly stand. At least Wyatt's dog was allowed to be outside. And so long as she kept her dragons away from the castle, they didn't have to worry about watching him. The only thing that could hurt him was Nell's dragons, and she didn't think that they were going to eat Wyatt's dog. Jennings. The dog's name was Jennings…

That almost sounded American. And she thought that that might have made the whole thing worse. Not that she was going to tell him that. She had already made her distaste for the dog perfectly clear. There was no use talking about it more than that. Whatever they were going to bicker about, she didn't think that the dog was going to be one of them. He was tolerating her eccentrics she could tolerate the dog. There was a distinct lack of dogs in this particular shop though, and Nell thought that that was a very good thing. She often found herself here when she was looking for things that were harder to find in the rest of the world. It was easier to find the things that were considered of the ancient times. They had things that she couldn't get in a bigger apothecary, and those were the things that Nell needed. If she were going to succeed with what she was doing, she was going to have to follow what they had done as closely as possible. Not that she actually knew what they had done. It was more complicated than that. But she was working on it.

She was working on making sure that she had all of the accurate information that she could get, and that meant that she had to slow things down. That meant that sometimes she ruined things, because she didn't get to a step in time. Because things were out of order, or they weren't completely written down at all. Those were the ones that were the most complicated of all of them. The ones that didn't actually have steps, and so she had to try and deduce, based on everything else that they were doing, what it was that her grandfather would have done in the missing piece. It wasn't always a straight forward answer either, and she was relying on her instincts more than she would willingly admit. There were things that were going to have to fall into place precisely in order to make things work. And she would make them work, in the end. She was confident about that. Nell had looked over her shoulder when the door had opened though, and her confidence carried into her smile when she recognized the man coming in the door. "Percy…" That was an interesting coincidence. If she was going to run into a Weasley in an apothecary, she would have assumed that it would have been his potioneer wife. "Hello."

In all honesty Percy wasn't sure that he could say that he had ever been any happier. After everything that they had been through, after the wedding and all the insanity that the government was putting people it was nice to find the small happiness that he could in it all. It had only been a week, but the kids were home still from been, so he was waiting to be overly romantic, but spoiling his wife was something that he could easily do from the comfort of their home. He wanted to do it because she worked to hard, because she gave so much. Percy had a lot of work that he did, but it was like he was in his own little world while he worked, which was a habit he was trying desperately to break.

He liked to sit at his desk with her in his lap while he marked papers, or just having her there. She somehow alked him, centered him. He knew what many people thought of hi, and of the mistakes that he had made in the past, but he had made a geuinine effort to change. He made the effort to be more that what he was, not just for himself, or hide children but for Penelope. She wasn't his world, she was his sun, and he orbited her like the planet's, hoping to gain a glimpse of her warmth, even if for a moment. Even his daughter had noted the change in him, which was why she had helped to plan the wedding, even when her own relationship had gone into the trash.

He was looking through the vials as he thought about his girls. They were all so lucky to not o my have Penny in their lives but the twins. He had his mother, his sister, his daughter and his wife. He was so lucky to have a life full of happiness and warmth, a family that was so loving and giving and had forgiven him. Then there was Ronald. He didn't see much of his youngest brother, he supposed that was his way of rebelling. He had fought in the last war and I looked like for a third time they would be heading that way. This time Dumbledore wouldn't be leading them, George would be. Percy wasn't all that confident in it, but like the rest he supposed he would have to give the man the benefit of a doubt.

Hearing his name the two, man turned his head and smiled. ” Perenelle, good to see you!“

Perenelle's Outfit:

Her family was known for many things, in France more so than here, but even here, one hint of her surname, and people knew it. They knew that name, it was one that they recognized. It was one that, very literally to some people, meant alchemist. Of the generation that she had been born unto there were only two. Nell, and her brother Gabriel. But he was more of a hobbyist than she was. She was determined, she was creative, and inventive, and he used it as a way to pass the time. Brigette was the one that had had the high-profile job, he had done something that had allowed him time to stay home, to take care of their family and that was what Alchemy and Metal Charming had become for him. He had been a papa first, and that had worked for them. That was something that they had made work for their family. Nell didn’t know if she could do that. If she could put her career on the backburner, and solely raise her kids. Not that she had kids. But that wasn’t the point. The point was, she didn’t know if she had it in her to do what her brother had done, and she didn’t think that she was the only one.

Out of all of her siblings, Gabriel was the only one that wasn’t focused primarily on their career. Nell was the only one that had yet to establish a family of her own, and she knew that her mother worried about that, but it wasn’t her fault that she was so much younger than the rest of them. Nicholas was ready to start a family of his own nearly when she had been born. It wasn’t like she was ancient and hadn’t started a family. Her brother would be 60 this summer, and that wasn’t her fault in the least. It had taken them that long, and giving up even, to get the girl that they had needed to finish the set. A. Nicholas and a Perenelle. They were meant to have both, even if not every Nicholas in their family had a sister. And even if they did, there were certain criteria that had to be met to be a Perenelle. It was complicated, but it was something that they had stuck to for centuries now, and it was something that she thought that they would continue to stand by.

No one was going to have any Nicholas’s or Perenelle’s this time around though. They had had them in their generation, and now it would be up to her pureblooded nieces and nephews to become the probable grandparents of another set. It skipped generations. But it was something that she knew would come around again… Or at least… She hoped that it would. She was the last Perenelle born when the original Perenelle had been alive, and without the stone, without her being here, she had no idea if it would happen again. Partially, that was why she wanted to make the stone so bad. She wanted to make sure that that legacy, that part of their family, was going to survive. It made her work that much harder, it made her try that much more desperately to get things right. To push herself to the limits of what she knew was going to work, ad to try new things. To try and see if she could recreate what he had done in the 1300s. They had so many more discoveries now. They knew so many more things, and yet, she was struggling to recreate the simplicity with which they had mastered the most complicated art in their field.

That’s what she was doing in here after all. This was one of the few places that she trusted enough to get the ingredients she needed, and not ask all that many questions. Alchemy was a trick business, and when your name was Flamel, it was even more so. People often asked her what she was working on, and what it was that she was doing, and more often than not she told them about the dragons. She was a dragonologist first, at least publicly, and that was how she intended to keep it. Word of what she was actually working on getting out would have people asking more questions than she wanted to deal with, and for the most part, she thought that they were just going to have to try and be okay with that. That they were just going to have to settle for talk of dragons and move on. The man that she had noticed however, was not the Weasley that she would have been expecting. “I would have figured that Penny was more of the apothecary type than you.” Her comment came with a smile, but it was still true, she didn’t think that this would have been a normal stop for the man.
