Caretaker's Office

Caretaker's don't necessarily have a glamorous job, ensuring that students do not destroy too much of the castle during their long stay. This office is quite dingy and dark, not a window in sight. Generally up to date, there are many filing cabinets that contain detailed information of the students that have been disciplined by the caretaker himself, including the infamous marauders.

This is the place that the first years tend to stand prior to entering the Great Hall to be sorted for their first and only time, entering a house that will become their family for the next seven years. During the Welcoming Feast, where the students are sorted, the students' owls and trunks are stored here.

This mighty grand hall is located on the ground floor, as large as a house. From here, one can get to the Great Hall, or many staircases. There is a balcony directly above this location. If students would like to see the success of their house in earning points, the house point hourglass counters can be discovered.

Great Hall

Arguably the grandest room of them all, this Great Hall is frequently visited by ghosts and humans alike, although the former of the two is unable to consume food. Be careful in conversing with some of the dead as some are rather quite sensitive about their status. Thousands upon thousands of candles can be seen floating above four large tables, intended for each house. At the front of the hall rests a horizontally laid table, where the professors all take their seats. If someone were to cast their eyes upward, they would see the ceiling appearing like the sky. Eating meals, receiving one's mail and special school occasions often take place here.

This room really is quite useless unless one is really that interested in plants. The too is also quite the heaven for those with a green thumb. Garden shears, jars, pots, and boxes are only some of the items that one will come across, fulfilling any gardening need.

Several of these portraits are the entrances to secret passageways to the upper levels. Don't get lost as who knows how many other students know about these passageways?

This small getaway is specifically for the overworked staff of the castle. It is a long, paneled room with mismatched furniture. A wardrobe is located inside, which used to house a nifty Boggart back in 1993. At the entrance of this peaceful getaway are two, slightly damaged, gargoyles that can talk. Inside, one will also find a warm fireplace, in front of which one of the school's professor's died in front of (Professor Binns). There are large couches for relaxation and a few desks to which a professor may complete any work needed. Portraits of previous staff members graciously decorate this welcoming room.

Also known as the Stone Circle, this area is a circle of giant stones within Hogwarts just outside of a bridge. The stones form an old-fashioned sundial. Do children of this generation even know what a sundial is?

Also known as a Paved Courtyard, this is a courtyard located on the exterior of the castle. Connected with the Viaduct and the Boathouse, there are four towers that are located at either corner of this courtyard. It is a common location for people to come to play "Snake Pit". Also, this environmental location is home to a talking Gargoyle. Please be kind to the Gargoyles as they do have a lasting memory. There is a balcony that circulates this courtyard for those wanting to stay inside of the castle.

One of the areas located on the inner part of Hogwarts Castle, this courtyard has lush grass in the open area where a rather large tree has grown over many centuries. One obese iron Armillary Sphere stands in the center of this courtyard, mostly for viewing purposes.

Perhaps the most travelled floor to exist in the castle, this floor contains many of the courtyards, various halls, and many different rooms for enjoyment.
