Adalicia's Grocery

Although there are plenty of grocery shops in Calais, this one is not apart of any bigger chain and is the only one in the city. It was started by a woman named Adalicia, who came from a nice family and was meant to marry well and that's it. Instead she started this grocery shop, and the rest is history. It's got good food, and fresh fish from the harbor as the owner gets the best deals. It's known mostly to locals, and is definitely the preferred shop for many.

This lighthouse is a significant landmark for Calais, and is located in the residential streets near the port. It is a popular tourist destination, and there is a tour for those interested in the history of the lighthouse and its occupants. The view from the top is also rather beautiful, and that alone might just make it worth the trip.

This restaurant is located right next to the harbor, and the outdoor seating defintely has the better view. Don't let the name 'The Fisherman' fool you, this is not where you would go as a cheap date. It is an incredibly nice restaurant, perfect for date night, and is always keeping up with the best of France's gastronomic cuisine. It has dim-lighting, and candles, and is normally a rather quiet place -- except for Sunday nights, where they have live music out on the patio during warmer weather.

There are popular beaches in Calais; it is a port city, after all. But those of magical descent might prefer a different sort of beach. It's one that can only be found by those with magic. One just simply must walk down Calais Beach until they come to a cove. To a Muggle, no such cove will be visible. Once walking through the cove, you simply follow it out to the small hole in the cave wall on the other side to find a beautiful beach. But don't stay after dark, as people say sirens haunt the waters...

Calais

Calais is a port city in northern France, and is across the English channel from the clifftop town of Dover. It's the principal ferry crossing point between France and England, and its old town, Calais-Nord, sits on an artificial island surrounded by canals.
