Character Name: @alan
Age: 39
Ability: Wandless
Level Requesting: Expert
Why is this magical ability important to your character? Alan had been trained by his father to fight on Voldemort's side during the second wizarding war. As a necromancer it was of great importance that he be able to work even when disarmed in order to be of continuous use to the Dark Lord.
How did your character learn this ability, if applicable? Lots and lots of practice.
Any Additional Comments? It took him two years to cast his first wandless spell and he claims "it's a lot like riding a bike without training wheels. It seems really hard and daunting but once you get it you're golden."
Have you read the rules? Fo Sho
Role-Playing Sample of your character using this ability:

This morning brought nostalgia with it, casting light on everything like the sun. Alan thought about his children and how they'd grown. They were both off to school again, a second and fifth year. Merlin, did he feel old. He wasn't much older than his daughter Aneska when he began his attempts at producing wandless magic. In fact, he was merely a year older than she was now when he first made his pledge to follow the dark lord. Why did he see himself as so much older than her when he looked back at these memories? She was a mature girl for her age, probably more mature than he had been, but she felt so young to him. She was his baby, after all, his very first born child. Alan supposed that she would always carry that, no matter how she aged. But...in the same breath, he had been a baby as well to his own father. The baby, to be exact. He was the youngest but that hadn't stopped his father from turning him into what he was. A weapon in a never ending war.

Alan began to think of the war as he assembled his morning coffee in the all to quiet house. He passed the coffee cup back and forth in his hands looking at his palms. These very palms that cast out dark magic, rose corpses from the dead, the very hands that carried him through the Battle of Hogwarts, the attacks on Diagon Alley, and the take-over on the Ministry. Just thinking of the spells cast from his hands made them tingle, almost as though they held electricity in their centers. It radiated from his palm, through his fingers to their tips. He could still remember the first spell that came from them when the Battle began over twenty years ago. He could still see them, those three wizards, not much younger than himself-- could still feel the rumbling of the fire through his veins as the spell came out. "Confringo". It had come shooting from his palm with twist of his hand, a bright flash suddenly becoming a roaring ball of fire hurled toward the three. His hand tingled after that, only long enough for him to cast it again at a different set of witches and wizards.

A smile came to his face as he reminisced. How many lives had these hands taken? How many lives had he revived, rising the dead to do his bidding? Alan attempted to count with amusement shining in his eyes. Absentmindedly he took a sip from his coffee, "Ahhhh," he gurgled through liquid filled mouth. He spit the drink right back into the cup making a face. "Anya," he bellowed through the house, "what sort of coffee is this?!" He looked in horror around the kitchen. Merlin, this was like jet fuel and Brazil had a baby and that baby was this disgusting coffee. Alan looked into his cup, waving his hand as the creamer container made it's way over pouring a bit of itself inside. The liquid churned as he twirled his finger through the air and he cautiously took another sip. Alan chuckled to himself, thinking about how ironic it was. These hands that had once caused so much destruction were doing....what? Making coffee these days? He licked his lips, taking another sip from the warm cup. "Mmm," he nodded with satisfaction. "Better."

Intermediate
Why is this magical ability important to your character?
It's the reason why she chooses when to speak to certain people, and how she has made friends in the present and the past. It's an ability she likes to believe was passed down by her father, as he used to speak to her about it and laid the foundations of how she understood it, so it's something she holds dear as he has since passed on.
How did your character learn this ability, if applicable?
She was born with it (tm)
Any Additional Comments?
It's in her app under skills!
Have you read the rules?
Yeees (I had to postpone this till I got the pc as my phone likes to enthusiastically shout about trees when I say yes)
Role-Playing Sample of your character using this ability:

As if life in Hogwarts wasn't distracting enough on its own without any added help, being stuck in a study hall with a few dozen of her peers made concentrating nearly impossible. Her eyes would flick up from her parchment after any small period of time and would just instinctively settle on someone's back... and then a colour would begin to bloom around them, almost like a translucent body-halo, and her attention would move from her textbook to trying to figure out what the colour meant and how the person was feeling. Or if the colour was  a feeling, or something else. Her Dad had taught her that much while she'd been growing up, especially when she'd run home from playgroup or from her friends with an avalanche of questions centred on someone who had started glowing like they were radioactive or had had a hunch someone had a sore belly and she'd been proven right. The colours were never only one thing. It was far more complex than that.  But she hadn't understood it then... had been too young to understand. And then Jimmy had passed away before she'd been old enough to firmly grasp it, and suddenly, she no longer had a teacher.

For a few years it had just been part of the background as she'd still been reeling from the passing of her Dad to focus on trying to understand her ability further. And then... then Lyndon had walked into that space in their household- or at least, he had for everyone else - and she'd tried to use it to prove that he wasn't what he appeared. That he didn't love her mum. That he didn't care. That he was taking advantage of them. But... she couldn't. That hadn't happened. Instead there had been an almost rosy hue to him whenever he was around the family, even if he'd just come in from work in a foul mood, and she'd went back to the notebook she had kept from her dad to try and figure it out. From there, her interest had piqued again, until even in Hogwarts she couldn't help but look for the myriad of colours washing around her, clinging to certain people, watching as groups of friends turned the same hue or began to splinter into their own colours. With Hamish... With Hamish, it had been what made her believe that he too was genuine, before he left. If it hadn't been for the letter he'd eventually sent, she'd have chalked herself up as an utter fraud once more.

She sighed, rubbing at her eyes and forcing herself to look at the half naked parchment on the desk between her arms and away from Lewis Branton adjacently to her right. From what she could piece together, he appeared to be sleeping with his eyes open, considering the colour was faded and no specific colour entirely either. There was a current of something else, though, something that made her believe that his napping was the first break he'd had in a long time. 'Focus..' she tried to admonish herself, but even still, her eyes had already slid up to focus between his shoulder blades again. Then to the girl beside him, who hadn't taken her eyes from his face for a few minutes, who wasn't the nicest of colours that Murdina had even seen. Fighting, perhaps?

She gave in finally, packing up her things and turning to leave the hall. If she couldn't focus on her classwork, then maybe the library would hold an answer to the other things she was working on right now.

Ability:
Elemental - Water
Level Requesting:
Beginner
Why is this magical ability important to your character?
Her siblings bonded with her over this, as a neighbour who looked after them in their muggle village (Falkland, Fife) used to sit them in front of a Tv show with water bending in it... and she tried it, and the water moved, and the rest is history. She finds that it calms her mind and can help her focus, and one of her ambitions is to master this ability. Her village is near a lot of water, so it might even help her relationship with Lyndon, her stepdad. Plus, water has long been said to have healing abilities, and it just so happens that she wants to be a healer when she leaves school.
How did your character learn this ability, if applicable?
She was born with zis too
Any Additional Comments?
'Twas also in her app, mentioned in her Character History

Role-Playing Sample of your character using this ability:

The Lake was calm, like a jet-black mirror, as she sat on the rocky outcrop jutting in from the bank leaning over it. Her reflection looked back at her in stunning clarity, depicting her tight expression and her slender hand that sat poised over the water's surface as if she was trying to give it a low-five. Overhead the sky was stormy but silent, threatening rain and high winds, but unwilling to deliver. Enough of a threat that most people had chosen to stay inside to avoid it rather than taking their chances. Leaving her with an opportunity to practice one of her... projects. An innate part of her that would always remain with her even if she didn't develop it further, but then she wouldn't be a Ravenclaw if she didn't pursue her curiosity. To see just how far it went. Just how far she could take it. Before it was beyond her, or someone or thing appeared to snap her out of her sea of calm.

Her fingers twitched, her brows deeply furrowed, and the water directly under her hand began to almost form ripples. Her palm clenched for a moment, and a single droplet lifted from the lake's body towards her fist... then dropped like a stone even as she tried to catch it. An exasperated groan left her and she glared up at the clouds for a moment in irritation, as if expecting an answer to be waiting up there for her. Naturally, there wasn't one, so she turned back to the lake and thought about it again. After a moment, she dipped her fingers in and then pulled them out with a cupped palm, waiting until the excess icy water had dribbled free from her hand and left a knut sized pool behind. She could do this. Right? Right. It wasn't like she could go and ask anyone to help her, as she didn't even know if this was a real thing or not. Maybe it was a sort of wandless magic that she hadn't realised she had? But it felt different. She couldn't do it with dirt, or fire - she'd tried and nearly burnt both of her hands - or even air. All she had was this. And really, that was enough for her.

Poising her other hand above the tiny deposit of water, she slowed her breathing and intently focused on trying to move it again. The minutes ticked by yet she didn't notice them, too enraptured in what she was trying to achieve to grow impatient. Then the rippling movement happened again... only this time the water began to warm in her hand before it collected into a sphere and lifted about an inch from her palm. It turned in the air as if bobbing on a current of air or something... then it lifted another half a centimetre. Then another. Clearing as the sediment started to fall out as it turned, returning back to her palm. She was doing it! She was doing it! She was-

The sphere collapsed, hitting her hand with a splash and running down her knees. So close, yet so far.

@murdina - because of how rare these are, I can't accept her as having both! You can pick one and let me know! :D

Character Name: @katya
Age: 34
Ability: Elemental-Fire
Level Requesting: Expert
Why is this magical ability important to your character? Her veela and MacFusty ancestry ties her closely to fire magic. Mastery of this element is representative of mastery of herself (specifically her veela temper).
How did your character learn this ability, if applicable? Born this way--mastered over many years of cultivating control over herself, her emotions, and her magic.
Any Additional Comments? She isn't talking about all the times she conjured up veela fire balls.
Have you read the rules? Maybe a light skim.
Role-Playing Sample of your character using this ability:

Circa May 2, 1998
Battle of Hogwarts

The wards were faltering. Even as the professors and Order members--brilliant witches and wizards--fought to sustain them, it was only a matter of time. The Death Eaters with their undead Inferi armies were coming. Katya might have been only a child, but she stood ready to fight--alongside others sworn to Dumbledore's Army. Fear caused her wand hand to shake, but she would not run. She would not hide. If this was the end of her too short life, the girl would fight until her last breath. She had no doubts of this.

The magic barrier fell and the grotesque bodies risen from the grave spilled in waves towards the castle. The girl had never seen something so hideous. But she knew the creatures vulnerability--and their weakness was her strength. A raging blaze burst from her wand--as she sent spell after spell at the oncoming onslaught of Inferi. Her affinity for fire magic brought strength to her conjured flames--and sent them spreading rapidly through the undead.

The smell of rotting burning flesh was nauseating, but the witch did not turn away from her task. She urged the flames to rise and spread, sending more and more of bursts of fire out into the field the Inferi had to cross to reach Hogwarts Castle. Letting the rage she felt for all injustice and evil perpetrated by Lord Voldemort and his followers, Katya let her magic run wild, her veela rage giving her a natural proclivity for conjuring the obscenely hot fire balls. In the moment, the MacFusty set free the dragon inside of her--undoing the masterful work of men multiples of her age.

Denied

@katya - being 3/4 veela, I feel like she has enough in her that she pretty much has fire magic, just through that veela magic. Because of that, I don't really think that she needs the additional of being a fire elemental, since she already has fire magic!

Quick clarifying question-- So who applied as Intermediate was accepted as Beginner? I know it's probably stupid, but I just like to clarify, since nothing was said in the initial Updated!
