Character Name:
Age: 25
Ability: Wandless
Level Requesting: Expert
Why is this magical ability important to your character? Learning the use of a wand wasn't really focused on in school, and though Raisa did choose to learn it for intensely focused spellwork, she's far more comfortable using wandless magic. It's likely one of the reasons she's still alive, really. besides, wands are limiting.
How did your character learn this ability, if applicable? In Uagadou. Also most of her family, because few of them went to schools that taught wands.
Any Additional Comments? i love you?
Have you read the rules? yes
Role-Playing Sample of your character using this ability: Her eyes narrowed in concentration, brows snapping together. A casual swipe of her hand flung a ball of light into the air to better illuminate the patient before her.

"Healer Shehzad, is there a problem?" The patient's husband sounded nervous.

"None at all," she reassured him. "I'm getting some more light in here, just so that I may see the injury better." It was a nasty gash, swelling and-- hold on. Was the blood blue there? She tried a revealing charm, and then another before flicking to meet her patients' eyes again. Another pass of her hand through the air, and Raisa had her answer. "You mentioned this was some accident with a burning spell."

"Why-- yes," the husband cut in once more. "We were burning an old carpet, no more. Some embers singed Nadya's leg, that's all, but it's not looking too good."

Raisa swallowed a sharp retort. "Nadya-- were the carpets used to transport Billwigs stings by any chance?" By the sudden tension, she knew she'd struck gold. "This will hurt, but it must be done. I believe you'd best like true confidentiality, no? I have the pain potions and a salve here, of course, but they're not quite focused for removing buried items."

"Yes, yes of course." Nadya seemed braced and Raisa spread the salve over her leg. Her patient swallowed the potion, making only a grimace at the taste.

A sharp twist and pull of her wrist, a murmured spell, and Raisa caught the sting neatly. It was snapped, of course, because nothing would be simple. She felt the crease between her eyebrows deepen, and she made a gesture at the light. It shone brighter, and Raisa Summoned the other portion. There was powder in the wound, that would need to be flushed out, but her Splinter Spell showed no stings still in. "Well," she braced herself on her knees, "there's good news, and there's bad news. Which would you like to hear first?"

Character Name:
Age: 25
Ability: Anamagus
Level Requesting: Successful
Why is this magical ability important to your character? becoming an Anamagus was one of the crowing achievements Uagadou had to offer, and Raisa needed to prove herself worthy of it. She was the first Shehzad of her family in the school and therefore had a reputation to dissuade, by showing academic success and hard work. Discipline was a useful skill, (though she did worry that this would fall ill on her if she did turn out to be a Dark witch), and the years of work that went into this have helped her temper her patience and work in the long-term, as benefits a Healer.
She also thought it would look really good on university applications.
How did your character learn this ability, if applicable? Transfiguration's always been one of her better areas of spells, and as soon as she heard that instructors were willing to teach talented students, Raisa threw herself even harder into her studies and impressing her professors as well as getting on their good side. She joined the Uagadou Transfiguration Club, and worked her way into the upper rankings-- the true club, as it was, for the more devoted students. Under the eye of instructors and with other students at her side, Raisa made the successful transformation into an Anamagus.
Any Additional Comments? also in her app!
REGISTERED DISTINGUISHING MARK: A black-tufted tail, a few tufts of darker fur on the left side of her body, ears slightly larger than the average desert jerboa.
UNREGISTERED DISTINGUISHING MARK: some parallel scarring on the right side of her body, where the fur is ragged. That part's unregistered because the scarring was sustained when she was bitten-- as can be understood, she's not ready to register that, as she might be asked to explain the scarring. Unless she had to re-register when she came to the UK, and show them her form, in which case then that just isn't registered at her original Ministries.

Role-Playing Sample of your character using this ability:

Her keys.

She'd forgot them again. She was used to that by now, she'd even set up a good hiding place for a spare set, but she hadn't anticipated how often she would have to use them, and she'd forgotten them in the house again. Raisa took a deep steadying breath, glanced around, and let herself shrink into the animal form she'd chosen. Her ears and whiskers twitched, listening for predators. She gave a few smaller hops, then her crowning hop of two meters into the wall. She always had to be precise; there were far too many times she'd ended up smashing herself against the place. Her feet made the lintel and Raisa scampered along it until she reached the crack she'd made.

She squeezed herself in, until her mass was the only thing keeping her aloft, pressed between the sides of the crack. Forcing herself down-- she swore she was widening the crack-- Raisa finally touched the ground again. She kept squeezing herself along until finally she reached the rows of mousetrap she'd set. Bounding over them, Raisa's arrival in her closet was met with a nose-twitch of relief and she assumed human form again, opening her closet door.

Next time she'd remember to not put anti-summoning enchantments on her keys. Or next time she'd glue her keys to her robes.

Character Name: @octavia
Age: 17 (18 in Feb)
Ability: Animagus (Golden Jackal)
Level Requesting: N/A
Why is this magical ability important to your character? Octavia has been fascinated by Transfiguration and Animagi as soon as she picked up her first book on magic. From a young age, she has wanted to become an animagus, and has spent years forming checklists and plans of how she could become one. Tav has studied the process almost relentlessly in her spare time.
How did your character learn this ability, if applicable? Octavia has been reading everything she could get her hands on concerning animagus transformations since she started her first year at Hogwarts. She knew the process in and out, and most of the books she had taken with her to Kolna and Pyxis concerned Animagi and Transfiguration. Her friend, Jason, sent her an owl while she was at Pyxis with two mandrake leaves. She planned to put the leaf in her mouth exactly one month from the September 24th full moon, on August 23rd. On the full moon, Octavia had already been home in Oxford for a couple of weeks and had set aside a patch of dew in her backyard for exactly seven days, protected from sunlight and never stepped on. She made the potion that night in the moonlight, using the mandrake leaf that had been in her mouth and the dew she had set aside. We mused about this in the writing challenge. Since then, she has been saying the incantation Amato Animo Animato Animagus, and has kept the phial with the potion wrapped in foil and away from sunlight. Finally, on the night of a Halloween party that Octavia is attending, there is a lightning storm that Octavia will use to take the potion and complete her first transformation (hopefully successfully).
Any Additional Comments? Nooppe
Have you read the rules? Yeeuuup
Role-Playing Sample of your character using this ability:

After all this time and all these years of studying and reading, Octavia couldn't quite believe it was all happening. But she had done everything exactly by the book. She had kept the mandrake leaf in her mouth, resorting to short mumbling and writing things down for a whole month. It was difficult, but not as difficult as it could have been. In the midst of crisis, Octavia had somehow benefited. With Pyxis shutting down and the young Ravenclaw finally able to return home to Oxford, keeping the mandrake leaf in her mouth and completing the potion had turned easier than expected. Remembering to say the incantation every sunrise and sunset had been the easiest part of the whole thing, honestly. No, the toughest part would be the waiting. Because Tav knew that if she didn't get an electrical storm before first snow... she would be waiting until springtime for her chance to finally take the potion. To finally become an animagus--a dream she had had for so long that it seemed surreal to finally be happening.

But it was happening. Octavia had made the potion and protected it from sunlight. She had said her incantation. And now she was standing in the pouring rain as lightning decorated the dark skies.

In a vampire costume at a Halloween party--this was not how Octavia would have imagined her first transformation. But as the rain came pouring down, flattening her curls, and as she glanced over her shoulder at Cas behind her... she couldn't help but think that this was the right moment. The backyard was empty and dark except for the two of the, and as Octavia took a deep breath, she uncorked the phial and downed the animagus potion just as another lightning strike lit up the sky. She could feel its magic coursing through her--or maybe that was just what she expected. Just what she hoped for.

"Amato Animo Animato Animagus."

It felt like a rush, at first. Octavia's heart raced as her view of the world changed. Her eyesight moved down lower, her vision grew sharper. She could feel her body hunching over and then... it finished. All at once, Octavia's heart rate settled to something that she could only identify as normal. And while everything felt different, she also knew who she was. Where she was. Octavia turned around, glancing down at her... paws. She glanced up, catching sight of her reflection in a window. Of course. A jackal. She was more her mother's daughter than she knew. Her eyes settled on Cas for a moment, then with one nod of her head... she turned around and ran. Stretched her legs.

And it was unlike anything she had dreamed up from her readings.

Denied!

Hi gotta deny this for now. There's no way that she would be able to brew that potion with the wand she has right now and I tend to deny most Animagus apps for teenagers just so you know! If you really think she's smart enough/capable enough to learn how to do this when it's meant to be really hard, you can reapply later when she has an actual wand back and has had time to practice a little more. But no promises that I'll accept it then either hahah!

Character Name: @marcus
Age: 53
Ability: Wandless
Level Requesting: Expert
Why is this magical ability important to your character? Marcus has been an auror for years, one of the most highly decorated in Sweden. And besides that he also teaches Magical Combat. Two things that having Wandless magic helps him with immensely.
How did your character learn this ability, if applicable? He learned from his father. Armin was not one to think that his son could learn anything average. He had to learn to harness his magic and use it both with and without a wand, at a young age.
Any Additional Comments? He's a cocky pain in the rear, and is here to make Catrine's life hell, and make her question all decisions that she's ever known.
Have you read the rules? Yes, of course I have.
Role-Playing Sample of your character using this ability:

Marcus was standing in the front of the lecture hall at Ottenby, there were a lot of them, this year's batch of hopefuls. But he knew how it went. Ten of them would switch to an easier specialty. Five of them would crack from the pressure of this particular field. Two of them, he would throw out. Marcus knew how this game was played, and he knew what it took to make it to the end.

Flicking his hand at the board behind him letters began to appear. 'Magical Combat - Introduction to Offensive Strategies'. Looking around the room at all of them, he let his eyes linger enough to find the smallest girl, and the largest guy in the room and he pointed them out. "You two. Come here." He waited for them to make their way down the steps towards him. When they did he waved his hand again and a table appeared in front of him. "Choose a weapon, you two, are going to demonstrate for us what you all, on your first day, think Combat is."

He was not immune to the look of complete surprise on the girl's face, but nevertheless he was impressed when she chose and took a step back, looking at her male counterpart as if daring him to take something off of the table. Marcus saw him hesitate, and then he took his own weapon from the table that had been laid out. "Now, on my mark, first one to ask for mercy, loses."

With a nod from both of them, Marcus stepped back so that he wasn't in their way, and with a twitch of his head, there was a sound like a gunshot, and they started to move. He had learned his lesson though, he had done background on some of those that were in here. He had chosen the girl on purpose. He knew that she had martial arts training previously. And he knew that she was going to know how to win this particular fight. But it was a lesson, more than it was anything else.

It didn't take her long before she had pinned him on his back, and Marcus, chuckling, used magic to untie the ropes that she had taken from the table and restrained him with. Helping him to his feet he looked at him once, and nodded, before he turned back to the room as a whole. "I don't know what you were all expecting, but I doubt it was that. The lesson, on day one, is as simple as this. Do not underestimate your opponent." There was something about the way that he said it. The way that he could make his presence fill up the room. You didn't understand that he was talking down to you, it was just the way that he was.

A final wave of his hand and syllabi appeared in front of all of them. "Everything you need to know for the semester is in your syllabi, if you have any questions, office hours are posted at the top of the page. Class dismissed."

Character Name: @lovegood
Age: 37
Ability: Empath
Level Requesting: Expert -- "Well, before I lost my magic, anyways..."
Why is this magical ability important to your character? She was born with it. Luna has always been regarded for her ability to provide comfort to people. She always seems to make a big impact on people by saying very little--and that's because she just knows. The times she has seen the trouble in Harry. The comfort she provided to Garrick Ollivander during their imprisonment at Malfoy Manor. The Battle of Hogwarts, and all the funerals that followed...
How did your character learn this ability, if applicable? Born with it! She has honed it on her own, over time. When she was younger, her mother would help her, as she was one, too--but after she died, Luna was very much on her own. It took time to develop the skill, and she reached something reminiscent of expertise in her early thirties only.
Any Additional Comments? Naah.
Have you read the rules? Yeeeee.
Role-Playing Sample of your character using this ability:

Luna felt it all.

She hadn't thought of this, when she had grabbed her wand and wielded. She hadn't thought of this, when she had thrown the first curse, or when she had run into that one duel to help out--someone. She couldn't remember who, but she could remember their fear. Luna simply hadn't thought. Because there hadn't been time to think. There had only been time to do. The battle had come to them, and this was the moment they were ready for. The moment that they had been hoping would happen, but also dreading. Because, yes, it was an opportunity to take back Hogwarts, and all of the wizarding world. It was good, in a way. But at the same time, not. At the same time, it was a sacrifice. A risk. And they had known that, hadn't they? They had known that there would be a price to pay for retaliating. Luna hadn't hesitate to get to Hogwarts as soon as her DA coin had signalled her. Luna had been away from all of them for far too long. Being in hiding had been important--for her father's safety, and her own--but Luna didn't like hiding. Luna... wanted to be there. She was not useful far away, on some beach. And now... now was the best time. Bill and Fleur were going. She was going with them.

But Luna had not thought of her abilities.

The first spell she had thrown, the first duel she had gotten caught in, the first time she had glimpsed a friend hurt--it had all hit her. Luna still didn't have a good control over everything. And she hadn't been prepared to handle anything, so it had all hit her like a whirlwind. Still, the battle hadn't been the worst part. Because she could tune out for the battle. She could... focus on her emotions. Focus on her opponent.

The worst was now.

The aftermath. They had won. And Luna... needed to know. There was a strange mix of joy and grief surging through her, but at least some of it was her own. Still, the grief--it was so powerful. Luna tried to tune it out, but she couldn't completely mute it. Every time she met someone's eyes. Touched someone's hand. Brushed past another. It was all there. Luna could feel the sob building up inside her, the tears borne of someone else's pain--it was so much.

Her eyes met Ginny's.

Luna had looked up only briefly, but that was all it had taken to find her best friend. And that--that was the most powerful grief she had felt yet. Ginny had lost... so much. They were all in pain, but Ginny--her friend needed her. For all the times Ginny had defended her. For all the times she had threatened to fight someone for calling her Loony. For all the times she had simply been there. Luna didn't have to think too much on it. Her feet carried her over to her friend, a hand reached out to rest on her arm carefully, giving a gentle squeeze--

And she held on. She held on as long as she could. Because even if it would only take away a moment of her friend's pain, it was enough. It was the least Luna could do.
