take my place but look inside
trying to find a place to hide, hide

Harvey was the second eldest of the family, and honestly, Winter thought that he took life a little more seriously than the rest of them did. Though, considering that two of the siblings were still in Hogwarts it was sort of believable. He did have a son to look after and her nephew was one of the cutest kids ever, and she wasn't just being biased because he was related to her. Not in the least. He was, without a doubt, one of the cutest babies that she had ever seen. She had liked Rosa, and it wasn't her business as to why the girl left, but she was hoping that her brother could find happiness someday. As a single father she knew that he was having a hard time, but unliked their own horrible father, he was trying, he was putting in the effort and it showed.

Today was Hogsmead, and she had picked a gorgeous dress thanks to Osteros and then had helped Mona pick a dress for herself and gone out for tea. Seeing her brother coming towards her made her smile. Harvey, or Harvest as she ad Osteros jokingly called him, was to her the father of the group, always sort of leading them around and keeping everyone out of trouble. She had no idea why, but she always looked to him for things before going to their father. She knew that there was a reason that they all sort of held something against him, but it was probably different for each of them depending on who and what they were discussing. For Winter she very often felt like her father and sister wanted nothing to do with her, and it cut her to the quick, knowing that the person she had grown with in their mother's womb, the person who knew what her mother’s heartbeat sounded like when they were small, the one that Winter wanted when she was ill; it was hard.

Maybe that was why she was so close to the boys, and maybe it was why they felt more like a unit of three than a unit of five. She was unsure, and she was totally prepared for things that would change when she finished school, but her sister was not the one who would control her life forever, Winter was learning that she had to be strong and lift her head high because after all, she had to run her own life. She had to be the master of her own destiny and fate, like her brothers. She had no idea what she wanted to do or go or be, but she was very happy to have her brothers at her side, to keep her grounded.

Tossing some of her dark hair behind her shoulder she smiled and ran towards her brother before giving him a large hug. ”Harv, how’s it going?” She asked him with a grin before winking at him and laughing.

Harvey had never set out to have children at such a young age. When he and Rosa had found out she was pregnant, his first reaction had been guilt. She had registered, being a muggleborn and he had gone and knocked her up. Obviously, it took the two of them for it to happen, but they could have taken greater precautions. But they had brought a child into the world and he was currently raising Silas on his own. He did struggle some days, there was no doubt how hard it was to be a single father. But Harvey made sure Silas knew each day his mum loved him and he made sure to capture all the important moments for her. He hoped that wherever she was, she was safe and looking after herself. Harvey wanted to be the one to look after her even if she was in this situation but they had made the decision that she would go on the run and the two of them knew it was for her benefit.

His father may not respect the decision but Harvey cared very little for his opinion. The man had done a very poor job in raising the four of them and he was striving to be nothing like in raising Silas. Times were different for his son. There was still a chance that his mum would return. Harvey would never see his mum again, he had or rely on memories from when he was three years old and photos from that time. They made him smile only so much. He never got mad with the healers, thinking they had done a poor job in making sure their mum survived. He knew they would have done all they could. Harvey just wished that his father had done a better job when they had lost her.

Being Silas’s father made Harvey happy, he felt like he had some purpose now. His son’s smile lit up the room and he looked forward to each day seeing his son’s happy expression. He did all he could to protect Silas. He did much the same with his sisters. He knew that Summer continued to resent Winter. No matter how much he had talked to her, his sister had not changed her mind.

Today though, he was spending time with Winter. He knew that his brother was taking her shopping for a dress for the dance she had coming up. He was looking forward to it. Harvey knew that Osteros had a better eye for fashion then he did. He would at least give his brother that. Still, he didn’t think he did that bad a job in dressing Silas for today. He carried the baby boy on his hip as he pushed his pram in front of him. ”Hey Winnie….it’s so nice to see you” he smiled as he kissed the top of her head and Silas held his arms out for a hug. ”Can’t forget him..” He chuckled.

To say that she was a little sad that her brother made the mistake happy accident of being a father so young might be an understatement. She liked Rosa, they had gotten on for the most part, and she had never thought anything bad about the fact that the elder girl was muggleborn. Winter was not the kind to really give two figs about blood status or purity. She cared about heart, about soul, about the person underneath. You could be a beautiful person but a horrible one and become ugly in Winter’s opinion. She didn’t hate the fact that her brother ‘Harvest’ was a dad, and her nephew was one of her favorite people in the world, but it did make her sad to know that he would likely be raising this kid alone for the rest of his life.

Rosa had bolted and they didn’t know why. She saw the affects that it had on her brother, she knew the way that it looked and she did not meddle in their relationship but she could not understand either. How was she supposed sit by and watch as her brother worked and did everything that he could for his son while Rosa was off doing Merlin knows what. He had fallen right into the foot steps of their father, but the difference this time was that he had help. He was not alone and she, along with their siblings, would never allow him to do this alone. She was in school so she could not help very much, but the fat little boy held a part of her heart that she could explain.

She was still unsure of what the future held for her, of what she wanted to do with her life, but she was still doubting that this is what she wanted. She had killed her own mother, and though it was rare it did happen. People did still die from childbirth and it was scary, it was worrysome, and it was something that she hoped and prayed would never, ever happen to her. She had her dress bag sent back to the castle so she would not have to carry it around with her and she tossed her long brown hair as she walked through the brisk air. Her face was lightly made up, and she felt as pretty as she could with her sister’s voice haunting her telling her she was trash and would never be anything but that.

Laughing at her brother she could not help the smile on her face as she grabbed the fat baby from her brother and kissed his face, grinning as he rested his head on her shoulder. ”Did my sweet nephew miss his auntie?” She said with a grin before rubbing his back softly. It was hard to believe that he was almost a year old already, she had no idea where the time had gone.. ”Shall we get out of the cold?” She asked him as she carried Silas

Harvey knew that his sisters didn’t have the relationship that he and Osteros have. While the brothers were close, they weren’t that close but they still were closer than Winter and Summer. Harvey understood why that was and that there was little he could do to bring the sisters together but that wouldn’t stop him from trying. After all, the siblings needed each other. None of them had a great relationship with their father and in his opinion, they had to stick together. However, as much as Harvey wanted his sisters to get along, he other more important things to focus on. Silas was his life and even if Rosa wasn’t around at the moment, the wizard knew she would be thinking about him too. If their son was old enough then he would miss her as well but he was still too young and was oblivious what was happening. When he was older they would have to tell them what happened. He only hoped that Silas wouldn’t resent his mother. Harvey tried not to think too far in the future but he knew it was something they would have to tackle when Silas was older.

It would be better that he heard it from them then from his teachers at school. That would likely cause their son to resent them even more.. He would have oft know that their son only left so that she would survive so she could watch him grow. Harvey wished his own mother would have served so he could have had that opportunity with her but she had lost her life, prematurely in his opinion. When Rosa had been in labour, what his mother had gone through with the birth of his sisters was in the back of his mind even if they weren’t bringing twins into the world. Harvey had just wanted her to survive the labour even though, he knew that she was strong but he couldn’t afford to lose her.

When she had left, they had decided it was something that had to happen no matter how much it broke his heart. There was not a day that went by where he didn’t miss her or thinking about her. He had lost count a long time with how many photos he had taken of Silas for her to look through when she came back. He hoped that was owner than later but he waited each day to see if it happened then or the next day. He didn’t even know if she had lost her magic. But with knowing just how high the percentage was of those that lost their, he feared she would be in that group.

At least his sisters were still too young to contract whatever the epidemic had been. They didn't have to worry about it each day. Harvey was looking forward to seeing at least one of them and he was certain that Silas was as well, even if he didn’t fully understand why they were travelling. He smiled at Winter and saw that she looked well. At least, he hoped the stress of school work wasn’t getting to her. He watched as Silas rested his head on her shoulder and began to suck his thumb. ”Oh definitely, where do you want to go? I want to see this dress that Osty helped you pick out” He smiled as he adjusted Silas’s baby bag on his arm.

The divide that was clear between herself and her sister had not always been so visible. In fact, when they were younger, they hadn't really eve shown it other than some bickering. However, as they got older their differences began to show more and more, and soon the little things that had marked them different were the only things that stayed the same. She wanted to be close to her father, and Summer had that. Winter had Osteros though. Well, she had Harvey too, but she was not as close to her eldest brother as she was the younger of the twins. Harvey didn't have that bond with her that her elder brother did. They didn't click, but it worked out for the better she supposed, looking the most like their mother she doubted that it was easy for any of them to look at her.

Maybe it was something that her father had said to her, or maybe the hundreds of pictures that hung in their home of the woman, but it was not something that she felt comfortable with. Not really. Her father seemed to be stuck in the memory of how things were when they were younger, of how his wife had been. She understood it had to have been hard losing her like that, but it made it harder for a day like this. It made her life harder because all she wanted was her Daddy. She wanted him to love her, but he didn't and she just couldn't understand why.

Full of warmth and love her heart had room to give and maybe that was because she never wanted anyone to feel unwanted or unloved like she had by her father. Or maybe it was because she never wanted anyone else to doubt if their family loved them. She knew that Osteros did, but she honestly wondered if he was the only one. After all, her twin told her almost daily that she hated her so it was nothing new to feel that pain, but she often wondered if the other two felt the same. She wouldn't blame them honestly. She had killed their mother after all... "Madam Puddifoots? " She suggested, not sure where else would be a good idea to go with the baby. She wasn't going to try on the dress for Harvey, but she would show it to him. She kissed her sweet nephew's head and watched as other students went past them. "There or Three Broomsticks, but I don't know if it will be too loud, though there is the Hogshead."

Catching up with his sister was a must each time she had a Hogsmeade weekend. It had become more of a necessity since Rosa had to leave. Silas wasn’t getting much of female influence at home, especially not with Harvey working plenty. Sure, his teachers at daycare were all women but for Harvey, that was the same thing. At least Winter was family and she gushed plenty on her nephew when she saw him. He tried to place an importance on the family to show his son that family mattered no mattered what happened between them. He wondered if could ever teach Summer that lesson but she had made up her mind a long time ago when it came to her siblings, in particular her twin so that was pretty much set in stone.

Harvey had tried many times to reach out to his other sister but she didn’t seem to really be forthcoming to build on their relationship or to spend time with Silas. It broke his heart because of course, she was set in her ways and her beliefs. He couldn’t do any more to change her if she had been that way for so many years. He knew that even his brother had tried but to no avail. Whenever he would visit the family house when the girls were home and he would have Silas with him, Winter would always be so excited to see them and Summer would just be hovering in the background if she even made the effort to be at home or just stayed in her room.

While Harvey would ideally love to spend more time with Summer, he knew it was best not to push her. He didn’t want to put what little remained of their relationship in jeopardy. He knew it was best to let her do her own thing. She knew how to contact him and where he lived should she want to talk to him or see Silas. He wasn’t going to deny her that opportunity.

It was unfortunate he wasn't able to see Summer today but he looked forward to catching with Winter and hearing about school to make sure she was having some fun here and there. He did also want to focus on her studies, but then again, he was already a father to his son, he didn’t want to turn into one for his sister too.

With it being so busy in the village, Harvey knew it was going to be difficult to find somewhere for them to eat with Silas. Even if he could be mature about things, he didn’t want to go into Madame Puddifoots, he wanted some more substantial than tea. ”Don’t worry about Silas, he’s a tough guy, come on, let's go check out Broomsticks” he smiled as he began to lead his sister down towards the pub. "Anything newsworthy happening at school?”

Babies were something that she had always loved, and she had always gushed and fussed over them when friends of their family had them. She even offered to babysit when she had gotten older. Of course, having a little extra money for Hogsmead weekends never went awry. Summer usually kept all the money that their father sent and she always felt horrible to ask Os for money. So babysitting during breaks was something she had fun doing. She took her nephew into her arms and then smiled at him, bouncing him a little and laughed at his laugh before blowing on that cute little neck. She loved her little man, and he would always have a strong place in her heart. She grinned when he gurgled his acknowledgment of her that sounded a little line Win-Win and she nodded her head. "That's right, Auntie Winter has you, bubba." She said before laughing and looking at her brother.

Things changed all the time, she never knew what she was going to be able to tell her brothers and what she should keep to herself. Most of the things that she had to share were about Mona's life and love life. She had neither really to speak of, other than the crush that would go nowhere. Erebos would never notice her, and she was fine with that. She didn't care though, she was glad to have him as a friend and though she liked him she didn't want to be like Mona and almost lose the bloke that meant a lot to her because she couldn't keep her heart under control.

"Not really, Mona is breaking her own heart a bit and it's kind of hard to deal with. She and Dima aren't talking anymore and she's just slowly dying inside and I can't do much to help. It's killing me I think." She said before laughing and adjusting how Silas was sitting on her hip. "I hope during the dance she can have a little fun or something. What about you? Heard from Rosa?"

Harvey tried to look out for his sisters when possible. He was closer to Summer than Winter but even then both of them shut himself and Osteros out at times. He tried to not let that bother him because they were teenage girls and there were some topics that were still not comfortable to talk about or that they didn’t want their brothers to know. It something that they would normally talk about with their mum but that wasn’t possible for the girls. Still, the boys always made themselves available for the girls. Even if life had been a little hectic for Harvey with Rosa being away, he took the time he had to spend with his family. He had even tried to engage his father to get to know his grandson. It had been a task but even if his father never admitted it, he did feel like his father had a soft spot for Silas.

Welkin had hardly been a model father and his children had their theories of why that was. It was likely because he had been robbed of his wife in the most tragic circumstances. Harvey knew no amount of magic would bring back his mum and that his dream of her meeting her first grandson would never be realised but he believed that she would have dotted on Silas as much as possible.

When his son was older, he would tell him about his grandma and what kind of woman she was and how much she would have loved him. Harvey had only had three years with her himself and he wished he had had more. Even if he was closer to Summer than Winter but he never blamed the latter like her twin did. He wished the sisters were closer but he knew he could not force that. They would have to learn just how much they would need each other in time. When Rosa had left, Harvey had gone to see Osteros and he hoped that his brother hadn’t judged his girlfriend to much but they all knew what she was facing with her blood status. Harvey would have given his life to protect hers but if they both wanted to survive this and to have their little family together, then she had to leave.

But they both knew that this wouldn’t last forever and eventually normality would return. Harvey was glad to get away from London at times to visit Hogsmeade, it was some level of normal and he knew that Silas would like it too. He offered Winter a smile as they headed to the pub. When he and Rosa had been dating at Hogwarts they had once had a date at Hogs Head because one of his mates had dared him. Rosa had threatened to break up with him if he ever took her back there and he stuck to his promise.

”That’s too bad about Mona, young love never is fair” he said, sounding like he was speaking from experience. He of course knew what he was talking about or liked to think he did. ”That’s right the dance is coming up, anyone ask you yet?” he asked, trying to sound nonchalant about it. His sister could very well keep those details from her but he was just looking out for her. ”Rosa wrote last week, she’s doing well and I sent her some photos of this guy here” he winked and looked at his son as he opened the door of the pub to let her enter first.
