skills
  • Healing: Rhona has taken a great deal of care in nurturing her abilities as a healer, working long and hard to ensure that she could one day hold a position at any hospital in the Wizarding World. Her desire is to eventually run one.
  • Potions: A love for potions, a love for the healing properties in some of them, drove Rhona to learn as much a she could and eventually become extremely proficient in potions.
  • Herbology: Rhona was raised in back woods and hills, she has a deep love for the Earth and all the plants that cover it; as such, she enjoyed Herbology in her school years and eventually went to Uni for it, having a particular knack for plants.
  • Muggle First Aid: Rhona used to travel with her father when she was younger, while he toured Hospitals and trained staff, as such, they both made sure to be up to date on any needs a muggle/non-magic might have medically - as to ensure that they could help anyone who crossed their path.
  • Playing Violin: Rhona's grandmother was a professional player in her youth and bequeathed a violin to Rhona, helping to fuel her love for the instrument. She was taught by her grandmother until she graduated from Hogwarts and still plays as often as possible.
weaknesses
  • Heights/Flying: Rhona was injured in her sixth year, playing with her friends in flying class. She was embarrassed about the incident and even more so, about the injury she received. She asked the nurses to let her keep her scar, due to the fact that she wanted to be reminded why she should never play around doing something dangerous.
  • Divination: Rhona admits to being academically weak in the subject of Divination. She attributes it to not really being able to believe in things she can't see, however it is more so that she just never got the knack of it and didn't want to know what happened in the future or read something that might not even be true. Her faith was misplaced in the art quite some time ago.
  • Cooking: While she is amazing at brewing a healing potion and excellent at what herbs work well with others, Rhona is not gifted in cooking, which is probably why she eats out or eats foods that don't require cooking. She can brew some amazing things but, don't try her food... don't even ask... just... order in.
  • Anything that Requires Balance: Rhona is extremely clumsy, even though she really tries to be more graceful. The only thing she usually can do without falling or tripping, or... running in to something, is work at the Hospital. It's like she's memorized everything and her body just fluidly moves to help as swiftly as possible. Now, if she could just do that with the other areas of her life, that'd be aces.

hobbies/interests
  • Violin: having played since she was a child and having listened to her grandmother (who was extremely proficient), Rhona loves to play whenever she can and often times volunteers on her days off to play for those who are recovering.
  • Outdoor Activities: such as running, foraging for herbs and plants, gardening, swimming, hiking, and generally being outside - just so long as she is firmly on the ground for the most part, she is totally okay with being outside.
  • Potions Making: Rhona loves to make potions in her spare time, sometimes just to make her days better and sometimes because she wants to try something new for work, she almost always has something brewing.
  • Art: Rhona loves to paint, mostly with oil and acrylic paints; she likes to paint the "muggle" way, as she believes it is more true to what she can actually do. She likes her works, though she hasn't really showed them to anyone.
  • Medicine: Yes, it's her job but, it is also her passion. She works tirelessly to help others and it is something she truly loves doing, she is confident that she can help make the world a better place with healing... in more ways than just physical.
  • Reading: She loves to read, loves the works of others and is fascinated by fictional worlds and the creations that muggles come up with about both her kind and those who live in her world. Rhona enjoys going to muggle shops and finding the most fantastical books.

character history
Rhona was born one cool July morning, though, almost immediately after her birth Rhona was left without a mother. Ailsa, her father's girlfriend, didn't want anything to do with having a child, much less being a responsible adult. Naturally this broke her father's heart. Not that he was going to let it bother him any, or many him any less proud to be a father. Sometimes, he thought he would have been better off falling in love with a muggle, at least then he wouldn't feel so ashamed to have been with someone. However, he had fallen in love with a Pure Blooded witch and, because of that, he felt as though her having a child with him might have been what caused her to flee. After all, for a time, it was difficult to be any type of extreme (either muggle or pure), with everything that had been happening. Still, kit was time to soldier on and be a father.

With the help if Rhona's grandmother, she was raised in a loving family, knowing about her heritage as soon as she was old enough to understand and knowing that her father was an important man, he was a Healer. He saved people. Her grandmother traveled a great deal in Rhona's toddler years, so it wasn't until later that Rhona really had a relationship with the woman that went deeper than violin lessons and scoldings about how she needed to not be such a "wild child". Rhona's mother seemed to enjoy the bubbly personality that her daughter had. It was in interesting contrast to her father's severe demeanor and her mother's own proper way of life. Ailsa used to whisper to her daughter when she was falling asleep that she was named after the thistle flower, Scotland's national flower, because there is more to her than met the eye.

When Rhona was six years old, she had her first incident with uncontrollable magic. It was to be expected, almost looked forward to; she hadn't done anything super destructive, just accidentally set fire to the kitchen when she was trying to light the stove to make breakfast for her father. It was the first time she'd ever tried to cook and, unfortunately for her family, not the last. Over the next couple of years Rhona really tried to help her family out in the kitchen and eventually, her mother simply told her to stop. She told her that her little girl was not meant to cook and that was all right, that she was meant for something else... and she would find it someday.

When Rhona was eight she began going out with her father in search of rare herbs for his potions, which is how she spent her younger years after that. Beside her father in the day and with her grandmother at night (as her father worked night shift at the local hospital, as a Healer). Her father would teach her about the Earth and how important it was to protect the herbs that could save people's lives and her Grandmother would teach her about the healing powers of music and how, no matter how dark the world seemed, music could always show people the light. It was her mother, when Rhona would lay in bed at night and listen to the stories she told, stories of fire. Stories of power and how sometimes, "privilege" meant being caged. Ailsa would end her stories by telling Rhona had not all white knights were men on horses, riding in to save the damsel. Sometimes white knights were the damsels. Sometimes, people needed to be masters of their own fate.

The night before Ailsa disappeared, Rhona was asleep in her room. She was on break from Hogwarts, heading in to her second year. Her mother crept in to her bedroom and kissed her daughter goodbye and left her a small letter. A letter that told her how much she would always love her and how nothing would ever change that but, that Rhona was safer with her father out in the country. When Rhona awoke the next morning, her father was rushing around the house as if he were lost and couldn't place himself. Her grandmother was pouring tea and ushering her into another room while she watched her father essentially have a mental breakdown at the loss of his wife. He didn't wake up from his stupor for over a year and, to be honest, Rhona didn't really know what happened to him. She went to school that year and when she came back for the winter holiday, he was home getting things prepared for her. It was the first Christmas she'd really had in several years.

School passed relatively smoothly for Rhona, she did her best in classes and worked through her tests in order to prepare herself for continued learning later on in life. It wasn't until her sixth year that anything drastic really happened to her, school wise, when she was fooling around on a broom in flying class and smacked into another student. When they both landed, Rhona was stuck in a tree and her friend was on the ground unconscious. Rhona was bleeding profusely from her shoulder and both of the girls were immediately rushed to the hospital wing. Rhona, being more concerned about her friend, keep trying to get out of her bed and check on her. When the healer finally forced her to sit down, Rhona begged her to care for her friend first and leave her wound until her friend was all right. The nurse didn't listen but, instead, worked on healing her wound. Rhona begged her to check on her friend, told her to leave the scar and just focus on her friend. Rhona kept her scar, mostly because she didn't care about it but, more about her friend being all right, and less about herself. Her nurse came back and inevitably offered to clear everything up and Rhona asked her not to worry about it. She wanted to be reminded that lack of focus is not without consequences.

Rhona left Hogwarts and immediately went into university. She kept up with her grades and focused hard on becoming a proper healer, like her father. She spent the next eight years diligently learning about medicine, herbs, and what it takes to be a healer. Her dream was to one day run a hospital or help find a cure for the curse that was running rampant through the country.

== PRESENT DAY ==
Rhona is working toward getting a job at one of the many hospitals in the area while trying to get in to the University of Bangor. She want's to continue her education as well as work in a hospital part time until she completes her education.

family history
Being half-blood, Ross was born to a pure-blood father and a muggle mother while Ailsa was born to an unknown Pure Blood family. Being from both a pure and a muggle family gave Ross a unique take on the world, what with all the damages the Pure Bloods did and the way the muggleborns were treated... he understood there were two sides to every story and that a world could not be complete without both sides of a coin, which is probably why he was so willing to be with a pure blood in his later life. When he was in Hogwarts, things were temperamental at best but, he did his best to stay out of other people's ways.

Ailsa and Ross actually met at Hogwarts, she was a Gryffindor (unlike either of her parents, who were Ravenclaw and Slytherin) and he was a Hufflepuff (like his father, his mother was a Ravenclaw). It wasn't until the last year of Hogwarts Ross met this fiery little first year with bright red hair and striking blue eyes. He hadn't expected to see someone so brave, so, mature... in a first year but, they were friendly and she apparently seemed to look up to him. After he graduated, she asked if she could write to him through her years in Hogwarts, he said that was fine, thinking of this girl as a little sister he never had and wanting nothing more than to help her become the person he knew she could be. So, they wrote back and forth for the next six years, when she would have vacation and he could get away from uni, he would take her for ice cream or out to the park to practice flying and dueling.

It was a completely platonic style relationship until her seventh year. She seemed to grow overnight, from the little freckled first year to the curvaceous and beautiful seventh year. Ross was enamored with her almost instantly, how could this woman be the girl he thought like a sister for six years? He went to her graduation, he stood and cheered for her more than any other member of her family, then he took her to supper.

The rest, as it would seem, was history... they dated until 1991 when they had a lovely Spring wedding in May of 1991. Sometime around August is when Ross found out he was going to be a father, he couldn't be more happy. He began working double shifts in order to pay off what they owed on their home so they could start a savings for Rhona to have after she graduated. He wanted his child to have the best life possible. It wasn't until after she was born and their family had seen a beautiful and wonderful five years that things started to go south. His wife, Ailsa, had been out often, she always seemed to go visit her parents and he never really knew much about them to begin with. Things started to mysteriously happen around her, or she would receive letters that he wasn't allowed to read or they would argue over if he caught a glimpse of even one of them. By the time Rhona was six, her mother was almost never home. However, it wasn't until Rhona had started school that things really went south for the family. Ailsa left a note, detailing how sorry she was but, she could not live this life any more. Whether it was the coming storm of the Pure Blood issues or the simple fact that being with Ross wasn't what she thought it was, Ailsa did not give a reason. She simply apologized and vanished.

Ross went in to a deep state of depression for over a year, his mother came to help him with Rhona and he began working long hours again just to get away from the crippling pain at home. Rhona looked so much like her mother and Ross both loved her dearly and hated how she reminded him of what he lost. It wasn't until his mother threatened to take Rhona from him permanently, because of his neglect, and he was faced with the possibility that he would be without the love of his life and the child of their union, his precious Cirssy (short for Cirsium, her middle name), he begged his mother to give him another chance and promised her that he would do everything in his power to be a better father to her. So, his mother allowed Rhona to stay with her father so long as she was there to ensure he didn't slip back into his depression once again, at least not when she was around to be affected by it.

It's been fifteen years since Rhona's mother vanished, without a trace, and for the past decade her father has done everything he can to ensure she has a happy life. He was proud when she told him that she wanted to create a tradition in the family, follow in his footsteps, and look into medicine as a career. He had worked day and night to ensure she was both loved and provided for and now, watching her having graduated all of the courses she had wanted (except maybe one, since she apparently applied to another college recently) and now he could sit back and watch her career flourish... in between the moments he secretly worked to find his wife.

The sound of chirping awoke Rhona from a light sleep, her body ached slightly from having fallen asleep on the couch once again. She had been researching different herbs that can only be found in the highlands of Cairngorms Mountains. She was particularly interested in the run off water from the caps and how their nutrients seemed to allow the "manzanita" plant, making it more fruitful than other regions of the same mountain range. She was hoping that the flowers from this plant would be able to be brewed into a tea that would help with allergic reactions to any other potions that were made for something - that might have not been brewed to it's ideal capacity.

Rubbing her shoulder, Rhona moaned slightly and stretched out on her couch before looking around. "Where are me baffies?" She muttered calmly to herself, searching for her wand in the seat cushions of her couch and finding it moments later. "Accio, slippers." Rhona let her feet dangle off the couch for a moment as her slippers slid onto her feet. With that, Rhona stood up and headed into the kitchen to make something to eat, or, well, open a package of donuts. Flicking her wand as she did so, Rhona spoke a spell in order to brew herself some coffee and headed over to the small table in her modest kitchen, eating donuts and sipping on a nice strong coffee.

Rhona looked out the window as an owl touted over to it and pecked on the window, which alerted Rhona to it's arrival and she opened the window and allowed the animal to flutter in and drop a paper on her table. Looking down, Rhona opened the paper and scanned the ever shifting words of the paper sighing. Things had certainly changed since she was younger and it was even more dark and treacherous here in the city than it was out in the mountains. Still, she felt obligated to remain where she was, keep learning, keep studying, keep healing and doing everything she could to help the world.

Taking a hearty swig of her coffee and standing up, Rhona went to her bedroom to get dressed for her day. Today, she would attempt to get a job at the newest hospital. She would look in to her application for the University. She would do everything she could do to keep moving forward...

Pending!

Hi M! Welcome! Just a few things before Rhona can be sorted!

  • With a birthday in July, she would not be twenty-seven yet, she would still be twenty-six! So her age just needs adjusted!
  • You have her job as a healer, but you’re going to be more specific! I’ve linked you to the jobs page for all of our hospital jobs so she can pick a specialty at St. Mungo’s!
  • Your years are off for her prefect/head girl years! If she was a Prefect both her 5th and her 6th year, that would be 2007-2009. Then she would be Head Girl in the 2009-2010 school year!
  • In Achievements, you put Astrology instead of Astronomy! Astrology is horoscopes, tarot cards and the like!
  • You also put that she got an Acceptable OWL in Flying, but flying is only taught in first year! That’s mentioned in her weaknesses and history as well, so that just needs taken out!
  • In OWLs also, you have her taking every elective, which is not allowed!
  • Just so you know — Gráinneog was founded by Squibs so the Medicine program is mostly based in Muggle Medicine! I just wanted to tell you because you put Muggle First Aid as a skill and she’d be skilled in a lot more than that! :)
  • Also, she will still need to go through the healer training program at St. Mungo’s to be a healer there! She could have just started the program while she was at Gráinneog and did both simultaneously!
  • Also just a small thing — with the above linked job page, you can give her father a job in either of our UK hospitals as well!
  • At the time being, we do not allow the creation of original pureblood families from the United Kingdom. So Ailsa either needs to be changed to a halfblood, or you can ask around in Discord to see if anyone has any spots open in a canon pure family! Ross’s father will also need to be changed to a pureblood or found a family as well!

That’s it though! I’m really looking forward to seeing what you do with Rhona — I absolutely love her so far!
