It's a secret society
All we ask is trust All we got is us

Whispers had been spreading...They always were, but these concerned her. Outsiders were coming to the United Kingdom. Danijela was unsure what the arrival of a team of ICW delegates meant for the country and for the Death Eaters. She needed to talk to her leader. She trusted him--but not his wife. Never his wife. Andromeda had been a traitor once. She could be again. Maybe she always had been...but she was also the leader of the Death Eater's wife. It was a fine line Dani knew she had to walk when discussing any matters related to the witch with Rodolphus. She did not wish to disrespect him. She only wanted to bring her concerns to him...concerns that were not only her own.

She'd ask him to meet her--not at the club where she would usually entertain a colleague--but at St. Mary's. The venue was a strategic choice. She wanted him to meet her here where he had summoned his followers to him before. She wanted Rodolphus reminded of the power he held and the faithful followers that were still loyal to him. She was among this number. Magicless as she might have been at the moment, she was still with him--and she had value in her mind and influence that were at the ready to serve him and the purist agenda.

Dani could not be sure that The Lord Lestrange would even come. She could not summon him. She could not command he come. She could only humbly ask--and hope that he might value her service and counsel enough to spare the moment of time for her to plead the case so many  of his followers were true supporters of. Others marked and masked had spoken to her--and she to them before she took the step to bring this matter to their leader. Rodolphus's time was invaluable, Dani would not dream of wasting it.

She'd promised her wand and loyalty to him in this church. But she had admired him long before that night. Rodolphus Lestrange was a legend. He was a man worth following--more than Tom Riddle had been and more than Ares Wentzell, too. He understood the value and purpose of the old ways--and he could appreciate a strong woman. The infamous women he had made his wife proved that. First, Bellatrix--a true heroine and wickedly talented witch--and now Andromeda... untrustworthy as she might have been, his current wife was clearly ambitious. Dani recognized and appreciated that in a woman.

The heavy door creaked open and she stopped her pacing. Turning to face the man, Dani curtseyed as low as her skirt would allow, bowing her head and shoulders to show respect due the wizard. "My Lord Lestrange, how gracious of you to spare time to speak with me. Particularly somewhere so inconvenient." She had chosen the spot for its privacy and the hope that it would remind him of how things had been--both for the good and the bad of it. They had once been forced to hide in the shadows...she did not want to return there. But also, she had been loyal to him then, just as she was loyal to him now.

Icy blue eyes raised to look on the man's face as Dani stood to her full proud height. She was a halfblood, yes, but her family had long been magical and deeply entrenched in the Dark Arts. They had served Grindelwald, Voldemort, and now the Lestrange, because they were and would always be loyal to the greater good for wixen society. "I requested your company on behalf of myself and a number of others deeply loyal to you. We have worries, Lord, of what is to come. The arrival of the ICW delegation is unnerving to some...as are the changes in the Ministry." She held her tongue there, waiting to gauge the man's response before speaking further. There was much she wanted to say, much she had plans to say, but only if he was willing and ready to hear it.

[attr="class","cbody"]Finding out that his wife had been sleeping with his brother had not come as much of a surprise as maybe it should have. Rodolphus knew his brother. He knew him well enough to know what the signs were when he fancied himself in love. He had seen it with Bellatrix, and he had seen it growing with Andromeda over the passing months. And maybe he should have cared more than he did. Most men would have. The slight of an unfaithful wife should have offended him beyond belief. Perhaps it would have. But his patience for his wife had been waning since she had decided she wanted to be Minister. Her having power wasn’t the problem. It was everything else about the situation that had grown to irritate him.
[break][break]
He had gotten bored. It wasn’t entirely surprising to him. It wasn’t that he had been faithful through their relationship, because he hadn’t been. If he wanted a pretty young thing, he had her. Sometimes, he’d had her with Andromeda. Their marriage had been far more interesting before she had been Minister. That was when it had all started to go downhill. Her regulations toward Muggleborns had gotten more lenient, and she had started to lose favor with the Death Eaters and the true purists. She had been losing ground with them for months. She would continue to now.
[break][break]
The Death Eaters had been the power behind the Ministry since the original takeover. When Wentzell had control of the Death Eaters and the Ministry, he’d had all the power he needed to implement changes and keep the wizarding United Kingdom under his thumb. When he lost that power, Andromeda had gained it. She’d had the support of the purists, and he’d had power over the Death Eaters which had put more power in her corner. There had been no stopping her with the purists behind her and the Death Eaters as the power behind the Ministry. But that had started to change. She could deny it all she wanted. She could play at having power just because she could call her Minister and she could sit behind that desk.
[break][break]
But the person who was the Minister was rarely the one that had the most power. The Dark Lord’s reign had been proof of that. The Minister had been a figurehead, while he had held all the power. If Andromeda thought she was the most powerful person in the United Kingdom, she was kidding himself. He couldn’t tell if she was that naïve or not. It was just not what was of significance today. She was growing more insignificant by the day in the eyes of the purists, whether she wanted to admit that to herself or not. And now, there was something new to contend with.
[break][break]
Word of a team coming into the United Kingdom from the International Confederation of Wizards had been whispered about since word had first leaked from the Ministry. He wasn’t entirely shocked that they had stepped in. It had been months with the Ministry making no progress with the epidemic. The economy was practically down the drain, it was a wonder they hadn’t devolved into full chaos. It had been longer still of an unstable government, led by two people in a row that had no experience in politics. Wentzell had not had a political background and as much as Andromeda wanted to play at being Minister, neither did she. Rodolphus was sure that the ICW was there just as much for the state of the government as they were for the epidemic.
[break][break]
He had his own opinions on just what they could do with this information. The smart move was to keep their heads down. International Wizarding Police had accompanied the team and he knew that they’d likely love to put Death Eaters in international prison. He imagined that was likely a hell of a lot worse than Azkaban.
[break][break]
At the same time, giving them the slightest push into chaos… that might just prove to be fun. They had come here to solve the problems in the government, weren’t they? Maybe it was time for a bit of fun, time to stir up a few more problems. It was something that was certainly on his mind, though he didn’t know how much of that had to do with how enjoyable it would be to cause more problems for his wife. The epidemic, the failing economy, the presence of the ICW, a custody battle and the Death Eaters causing problems? There was only so much one woman could take, after all. Yes, that could definitely prove to be at least a little amusing.
[break][break]
The woman that asked to meet him here was an enthusiast of chaos. He had no doubt about that. He wouldn’t be surprised if that was why she had asked to see him today. The choice of venue was a good one. He appreciated it. The last time they were here, he had been announcing their change in leadership. This time, he was unsure just what they were there for, but he knew that he’d find out shortly. “Making time for you is most worth it, my lady,” he answered, with a smirk, watching her as she stood up fully from her curtsey.
[break][break]
As he had assumed, this meeting had to do with the team that had arrived from Geneva. He considered her words, then gestured at the closest pew to where they were standing. “Please, sit…” He offered. There was no reason for them to discuss this while loitering in the aisles. He joined her moments later, taking a seat next to her. “Go on.” He had the same concerns, of course, but he wanted to hear what she had to say about it first.
