[attr="class","cbody"]It wasn’t all that often that he ventured into Knockturn Alley anymore. He didn’t really need to. More often than not, he was on the Muggle side of London. He was at work or he was in the surrounding areas doing other business. Coming into Diagon Alley or Knockturn Alley was just not something that he had to do all that often. Finn had grown up without magic in his life. He had grown up only in the Muggle world. The only bits of magic he had seen before Hogwarts had been his own sporadic bouts of accidental magic, but that honestly hadn’t happened all that much. He didn’t really know why, but he figured he was a little too focused on surviving to let emotions get the better of him like that. Out of control emotions was a part of what led to that sort of thing, after all, and he spent his childhood being the one in control, obviously. It was the only reason that he had survived to see Hogwarts at all.

But growing up without magic and then losing it in the epidemic made it easy for him to go back to his old life. Magic had never really done him ay favors. Sure, it had given him Hogwarts. It had given him a roof over his head ,a bed, and three square meals a day, but he had never really felt the pull toward magic that everyone else seemed to. There had been plenty of times throughout the years when he’d wondered if there was even a point in graduating at all. When he had left school, he had not planned on coming back at all. He had seen no reason for it. He was sure that he would have been fine if he hadn’t come back, but he had. He had officially finished, for whatever reason. What had that gotten him?
[break][break]
Nothing that he had learned in school, no marks that he had gotten on his NEWTs had a thing to do with where he was today. He had gotten here on his own. He could have gotten here without magic. Now that he didn’t have it, there was even less of a reason for him to venture into the magical world. There was nothing that he needed here. He wasn’t one for the dark knickknacks that could be purchased down this way, and he didn’t brew potions or concoct and create in any form. There was just nothing here that he needed to spend his money on. It had been months since he had been down this way.

And it wasn’t shopping that had brought him down this way tonight. It was a rare occasion for him to drink anywhere but at Paroxysm. Why would he pay to drink somewhere when he had somewhere that he could drink for free? It just didn’t make any sense at all.
[break][break]
But he had decided to make an exception tonight. He didn’t have to work, and he had some extra money burning a hole in his pocket. When he felt like gambling and had a few hours on his hands, there was nowhere better to go than the Lucky Strike. The magical casinos in the area were too fancy for his taste—while he had gotten a taste of the finer things while in Moscow, that wasn’t what he was in the mood for tonight. Tonight, he just wanted to sit around in a dark, smoky room, and gamble. Probably lose all the money he came in with, and maybe find some witch to take home. But that was a big maybe. He had been to the Strike enough to know that the women that lingered around there weren’t the type to spread their legs for free.
[break][break]
Not that he had anything against paying for it every once in a while. Normally, it was just unnecessary. But when he did find it necessary, when it was something that just worked out, it would not be at a place like this. Even he had some standards. Not too high, but high enough to prefer to avoid paying for a sexually transmitted disease. And that seemed like a risk with some of them. That was definitely not something that he wanted to deal with.
[break][break]
If he didn’t find someone to bed tonight, he’d live. It was gambling and drinking that was really on his mind as he headed into the dimly lit room. It was late enough on a Thursday to be busy, and smoky enough to make it difficult to see—as always. It was just what he had come to expect from the place at this point. Finn headed first in the direction of the bar. That had to be his first stop for obvious reasons.
[break][break]
Once he had a whiskey in his hand, he surveyed his options, and that was when he saw a familiar figure. Maybe a part of him had been hoping she’d be here—he had run into her here before, but it hadn’t been a conscious thought on his mind. It looked like the game was blackjack, and there was an empty seat at the table, so with a smirk on his lips, he sat down at the table. “Deal me in,” he said, nodding at the dealer before taking a swig of his drink.
