You used to captivate me by your resonating light
Now, I'm bound by the life you left behind
Your face it haunts my once pleasant dreams
Your voice it chased away all the sanity in me
I was the summer and Romilda was finding that she was loving the time that she had with Amelie even more than usual. She was taking time off from work and tour and all of the things that she was doing with her music professionally and taking a year off. Time to spend with her kid and just to be herself. She was finding who she was now that she was accepting motherhood and dealing with the things that a child needed. She still had a nanny and still had the house elves who helped her when she had no idea what she was doing. Yes, she was about four years late, but she was not too late. Not to mention that her little girl was a complete angel. She was so much like her father that it hurt her.

Brian, she missed him most days and wanted to see him every day. It wasn't easy, this letting go and moving on. She had changed her life because of him. She had been sober because of him. He helped her see things in a different way and helped her to see that it was okay to live the life that was different from what her father would have wanted for her. She was, after all, not the daughter of the main line, and though her father had pushed her too hard. He had wanted her to be like her cousin, to be more like Donna or Sierra. To be more like her aunt, but she was nothing like them and wanted to be nothing like them.

Romilda wanted to forge her own path and though she ha been raised to follow those purist beliefs that her father was so fond of, she was not one of them who even thought about it It was never anything that came to her mind, never anything that she thought about having to do. Because she wasn't like them. She was never like them. She made mistakes when she was younger and it had changed how people thought of her. She had been young and stupid, she had made a choice that had been a bad one, and she was not exactly sure that she could change what anyone thought of how then.

What they thought of her now didn't really bother her either. She was a strong, smart woman and she was tasked with only one thing now, and that was taking care of her child. It wasn't easy just stepping into this, but it was clear to everyone who saw them that, though it was sometimes reluctantly, Romilda loved the child very much so and it was clear that the girl adored her mother. She wanted to spoil her, to give her a treat for the day since the term was over and she had some time to be just the two of them. As they stepped into the shop she smiled as her daughter ran to the counter and looked at the glass.

Squatting down she looked at her baby girl. "See anything you like, lovely?" She asked the little girl before kissing her cheek with a grin but stopped when someone approached.

Allisyn took a lot of pride in her job. The staff at Peverell’s were critical in enabling young children to hone in on their magic and to learn around all the muggle classes they needed to as well just learning about the magical world. She knew they had so many questions and she was happy that her staff were able to answer as many as possible. There certain ones that they would leave to the parents or guardians to answer. It was understood that sometimes the best teachers were in the home. Allisyn had taken an active interest in her children when they were in primary school and she hoped that the parents of today still continued to do so.

She knew that with the flu many people had fallen sick, she herself was included in that group and the woman understood that many people just wanted to get better but this had been so widespread that it wasn’t going to be a simple way of making sure everyone was well again they got their magic back. Allisyn hoped that she got her magic back soon enough but she was managing without it. She understood enough about the muggle world to navigate her way through it. She was glad that at least one of her children remained untouched by the epidemic.

While it didn’t impede too much on Ellen, Lawrence was unable to play without his magic and she wished she could change that but there just nothing she could do. Allisyn knew she had to take a step back from her children’s lives, two out of three of them were old enough now to manage their own things and were free to live their own lives. She knew that if she had not divorced from their father then she may not be feeling the way she was.

But she had long understood they had both made mistakes and that was part of being human. She knew that she should be moving on but she was not going to put herself out there. Allisyn felt her children and her work came first. She could also go back to writing and work on her Arithmancy book but she would have to work out a way of balancing her time with that. She knew she had plenty of time available to her but it was a matter of her actually sitting down and getting out her quill and parchment or her laptop and starting of with notes firstly.

Stopping into the bakery on the way to her next appointment ensured that she got her sweet treat and some kind of energy boost provided by the sugar of course. The woman saw a woman with a small girl beside her and naturally assumed they were mother and daughter. She bent down to retrieve a toy that the girl must have dropped, it was a small doll. Her own daughters had had many dolls when they were younger. ”Excuse me, ma’am..I believe your little one dropped this” she smiled as she approached them, interrupting their conversation inadvertently, holding out the doll for either the mother or young girl to take.

The summer brought on a whole list of problems on its own, Romilda was finding that being a mother was one of the most rewarding things that she had ever done. He heart swelled ever morning as she woke to find her little one had joined her and had stopped fighting to get her into her own bed. She was enjoying this. Amelie was a good girl, a sweet child who was rather well behaved. She was teaching her now about her family and about her grandmother. Yes, she knew who her grandfather was, and what he had been like but Romilda wanted so much more than her daughter not know the sort of man that he had been. It had never been her intention that she had children, it had never been her intention to have a child, or to fall in love. It was nothing that she had wanted for herself, in her opinion and estimation they were better off not having her in their lives but things changed. People changed and she had a life to live; one that involved the beautiful little girl who held her heart.

Brian had not been expected, and she had not thought that he would ever be the one that she wanted to spend the rest of her life with. He had been to few of the parties that she had been at as well, and they had been introduced then but had never really spoken much. Brian met her again and again before she finally agreed to coffee. He was a comedian, a performer, and they had so much in common that it had shaken her. It did not take long before she got clean, and they moved in together. She found herself pregnant a few weeks after he proposed. She was so happy. She was so fucking happy and then, in the blink of an eye. He was gone. No one knew what had happened. He was believed to be poisoned but they could not find anything else.

She was a mess and a wreck back then, and though it had taken her far too long to reach the point of wanting to be in her daughter's life. Hr baby girl was the only family that she had now. Her mother had lost her mind, and she could no longer remember who Romilda was. She could not remember what life had been like before Brian before the world around her had changed. She wanted nothing to do with that life, or with that person. She wanted her life with her daughter and she wanted every single day to be like this.

She was not sure if she wanted to go back to work in the music industry or not. She could keep writing music, or something. She didn't know what she wanted to do. She watched as Amelie smiled at the woman and took the little teddy from her Dolly! Amelie cried out before grinning at the woman and did her fisty wave. Picking up her small daughter she smiled at the woman. "Thank you... You're the principal at her school, I think."

Allisyn was glad to be on break for summer. She loved being the principal at Peverell’s but she knew that even she needed a break. The woman hoped that her students were off enjoying their summer. She would hopefully be listening to some fun stories when the next term started as well as welcome new students into their kindergarten class next year. It was a nice experience and with everything the children may have possibly gone through in the past year, she wanted to create a welcoming environment for the children.

She was amazed by the resilience of the children who attended her school. The adults around them had had really made a mess of the magical world and she hoped that when her students were older they would inherit a much better magical world. She wanted to prepare them for a though world because as a mother she had seen what her children had gone through. They had been through different challenges compared to Allisyn when she had grown up. Sure, she had seen her father being attacked but she had put those memories past her. She knew that there better things in the world because her own parents had worked hard to move the family to the UK and to provide them with a much safer upbringing. While Allisyn would have preferred to not expose to her marriage break up, that was something she couldn't have stopped. But thankfully that was all in the past now.

By the time the next school year started, she hoped that the status quo would return to the magical world. At least the muggleborns were now free. These children she had thought who had parents who had been forced to return, they would hopefully now have a stable home again. In an ideal world, Allisyn would have preferred to give her students the perfect environment. However, that was not possible nor was it a good idea. They needed to know of the unsavoury things of the world. But Allisyn worked with her staff to make sure it taught to the children in a way that was appropriate to their age.

Like the little girl who was with her mother who had dropped the toy, she had seen that children that young sometimes misread situations and that was to be expected given the little experience they had of the magical world or the world in general. Children thought differently and their innocence was envious at times. It was like when you a teenager and preparing for exams and you wished you were six again. Times were so much simpler when you were six. There was less to worry about and you could play all day if you wanted to. As one grew up, their responsibilities changed and evolved.

Allisyn smiled at the youngster and waved back as she waved at her. ”Oh…” she said looking back from the woman to the little girl. ”Amelie right?” She asked as she crouched down. It had taken her a few seconds to place the children. They had quite a number of children at the school. ”She’s a lovely girl, her teacher tells me she’s a quick learner” she told the older woman as she offered her hand. ”I’m Allisyn O’Neil”
