Sometimes, we come up with our own ideas, and maybe we want to share it with everyone else, and maybe we want to see if it's something that is even possible! We do ask that if you're creating spells, items, potions, creatures, or anything in between, that you come here and post them! To be site canon, it needs to go through staff! That's because sometimes something might be a little too over-the-top for the site, or contradicts something that has already been decided! So if you want to try your hand at invention, post here!

Note that you don't have to have a spell inventor to invent a spell, you don't need a potioneer to invent a potion, a magizoologist to discover a creature, or an inventor to invent an item! This is all OOC! You can just have an idea, and bring it to us here! Of course, if you have a character that did anything on the above list, definitely post it here as well! Just thought we'd make it clear that this could be a 250 some year item that your characters have never seen or heard of before, and that's totally fine! This is all OOC!

So just choose the proper code below, and post your inventions. If you are confused by any of the options in the codes, here are a few brief explanations:
  • In a brief history, we're just looking for when it was invented, and by who, but also any other historical bits you'd like to add!
  • For potions, ingredients are optional, but definitely feel free to literally make a step-by-step guide on how to make the potion, if you're so inclined. If you don't want to, that's fine too!
  • For items, the rarity section is so everyone knows -- could they stop in Borgin and Burkes and buy it? Are there only a few left? Are they illegal in the U.K.? Etc.
  • For magical creatures, disposition is obviously just what they are like, and what they are known for. We'd also like the rarity of the creatures, and where they are found, to know of people are commonly going to find them in the UK, or if most people would have never seen them.

If it's accepted, it will be posted on here. If it's denied, you'll be PMed with why and can either make changes, or if it's entirely not going to work with the site, then it can be dropped!

This is a very long page, so here are some links to get you to specific spots:

Charms
NameDocility Charm
IncantationDocilis
MovementPoint at the target and then a swipe down.
What It DoesGives a feeling of calm submission to a living target. It makes animals less dangerous and easier to train for a time, though creatures of near human intelligence or especially dangerous magical animals are able to resist it.
A Brief HistoryThere are various witches and wizards considered to have created this spell, though most commonly it is applied to Greek Witches and Wizards, including the likes of Circe. Today it is commonly used in pet stores across the world.
Additional Information-

NameThe Evidence Removal Charm
IncantationVestigium Apsentia
MovementThe castor waves their wand in a sweeping pattern over the room they wish to cleanse.
What It DoesThis spell removes all physical signs of the castor being anywhere near the room it is done in. Hair, blood, fingerprints and more are removed and leaves no trace that the castor was ever there. It makes it easier to clean up the scene of a crime. This spell appears as a flash of bright white light when cast.
A Brief HistoryThis is a rather new spell, invented by criminal wizards in the 1970s. It was believed to have started in North America, but quickly spread as a popular spell throughout the world, used by criminals everywhere, especially those that prey on Muggles.
Additional Information-

Name
Hair Removal Charm
IncantationDepilis
MovementRunning the wand over the skin where you wish to use it.
What It DoesA witch (though lately wizards too have taken to this spell) can use this spell to remove their body hair painlessly leaving nothing but smooth skin. The hair will grow back after about a month, and one will have to use the spell again to remove it again. WARNING: Do not use on any hair you do not wish to have removed, that would be… embarrassing.
A Brief HistoryThis spell was made by a clever young witch after witnessing a humorous hair removal curse in action and thinking there might be useful variation for a young witch. It has since become a popular and preferable magical alternative to shaving and waxing throughout the magical world.
Additional Information-

NameThe Leashing Charm
IncantationCopula
MovementPoint at a target.
What It DoesCreates a silvery light that attaches to a single target and acts as a visible method of pulling the target, like a leash. The length of the leash changes to the will of the witch or wizard that conjures it.
A Brief HistoryAn ancient spell from the Greeks used for leading animals around, similar to muggle leashes, and has maintained use to this day.
Additional Information-

NameLiving Model Spell
IncantationSimulo Imitatum
MovementThe wand movement is a sharp jab into the subject and then a wave towards the material to be shaped and animated.
What It DoesThe Living Model Spell transfigures a block of material into an animated representation of Creature. It requires the subject to be made a model of, and the material to form a model, usually a block of clay, metal or plastic depending on the Caster’s personal choice. The subject can be either living or dead at the time this spell is cast. The material will be transfigured into an animated copy of the subject, every physical detail and color created to scale with the amount of material provided. This copy will act something like a simulation of the creature it represents (dead subjects will act as they did when alive); though the Model will only display basic personality traits of an intelligent creature. Animation typically only lasts a few hours or days depending on the power put into the spell before becoming a simple statuette unless further enchanted for longevity.
A Brief HistoryThis is a spell created by an artistic toymaker that wanted to make models of Living Creatures are realistic and lifelike as possible. It has often been used by celebrities to create 'action figures' for their fans, and was famously used to create the models of the Dragons used in the First Task of the 1994-1995 Triwizard Tournament.
Additional InformationModels display characteristics of their original, but will require further enchantments to display the original creatures full capabilities. For example, a Dragon Model will not be capable of breathing fire without further enchantment. The model will also not possess memories of an intelligent creature or person it replicates, and will only act as a light imitation of their most basic characteristics and personality traits.

NameThe Longevity Charm
IncantationAetarnus
MovementPoint at a target.
What It DoesIncreases the length of time an enchanted object remains enchanted, the exact length depending on the amount of power used. It requires a great deal of power to make an object seemingly permanently enchanted. Only works on objects personally enchanted by the castor. This spell is known to be tiring on attempting to make long lasting objects. It can also be used to lengthen the existence of conjured creations before disappearing.
A Brief HistoryAn ancient spell almost as old as the art of enchanting objects itself. It is believed there was a better ancient Egyptian equivalent to the spell, but that has since been lost to the ages. The modern version used most often today is thought to have been invented by Greek wizards.
Additional Information-

NameThe Marionette Charm
IncantationPupa
MovementPut the wand upon the target. There is a flash of white light from the end of the wand when this spell is cast successfully.
What It DoesThis spell allows the castor to take control of an object with moving parts. It was made for puppeteering, and allows puppets and toys to be moved by the user without any physical connection between them. It was discovered in the late nineteenth century that this spell will also puppeteer living targets but only when they were unconscious or paralyzed. This spell can only be used on one target at a time, and the target is controlled based on the will of the witch or wizard it is being controlled by. Objects with limited movement capabilities will be hard to control with this spell. Puppets are harder to control when the castor cannot see them or perceive where they are.
A Brief HistoryThis spell was originally created in ancient Greece, though it was rediscovered by Sicilians in the 13th century several hundred years later before becoming popularized throughout the wizarding world. In 1899, a wizard who liked to play pranks on muggles found out it could be used on sleeping creatures, including humans. Ever since it has been used by some muggle hating wizards as a way to mess with muggles without using the Unforgivable Imperius Curse. In 1960, it was shown that Living Models created with the Living Model Spell could also be controlled with this spell.
Additional Information-

NameThe One Way Window Charm
IncantationFenestra Visum
MovementA square pattern over the area one intends to charm.
What It DoesTurns a solid object into invisible on one side while remaining visible from the other side, allowing someone to look through it like a window.
A Brief HistoryCreated by criminals to get a look inside building they intended to rob without being seen.
Additional Information-

NameOrbiting Charm
IncantationCirculus
MovementA circular motion followed by pointing at the desired object.
What It DoesThis defensive charm makes an object orbit around the castor. Orbiting objects will move in the way of attacks to block them until the object is destroyed.
A Brief HistoryA simple defensive charm made in ancient times, as a method of blocking while leaving hands open. It was in a time when wizards could get in a fight with a muggle, and often used on shields to block incoming arrows.
Additional Information-

NamePassword Protection Charm
IncantationLocutio
MovementA slow, rhythmic up and down motion over the intended target.
What It DoesThis Password is added to an enchanted object to hold the enchantment until a certain word or phrase is said. For example, when applying a locking charm, adding this spell will ensure the locking spell holds until the phrase is spoken. It can also be placed on an enchanted object so it will only activate when the phrase is spoken. This spell produces no visible sign of use.
A Brief HistoryIt is unknown who invented this spell, but from the way the Castle of Hogwarts works, it is assumed that the Hogwarts Founders were masters of it. It is still a common spell today, often applied to many products to assure ease of use. Many Hogwarts students learn this spell in order to keep their trunks locked and hidden away from thieves and pranksters
Additional Information-

NameThe Personality Placement Charm
IncantationIngenio Persona
MovementTap object that you wish to enchant and then keep a circular motion over the object.
What It DoesThis spell gives an already enchanted object a personality. It can be placed quickly when giving a simple personality, though masters of this charm can learn to craft wondrously complex personalities into their enchantments, though it takes longer and requires a great deal of power and concentration. This spell makes the enchanted object glow blue while it is being placed. The charm is attached to an already charmed object, and will only fade when all other charms holding it to the object also fade.
A Brief HistoryThis ancient spell is the core part of a number of wondrous objects in the magical world. From making Golden Snitches flee from Seekers and Bludgers eager to knock over players, to improving the intelligence of Portraits found throughout the magical world by the greatest wizarding artists, this spell has been a constant in European Magic since at least the inception of Hogwarts, though it is not believed that the Founders invented the spell. While it is a spell many know and can use for simple pranks in their school years, only a few skilled artists and wizards seem to master the spell in a generation. Supposedly some magical objects are capable of gaining personalities on their own, such as Wands, but such things are considered rare outside of wandlore.
Additional Information-

NameRock Heavy Charm
IncantationGravipetra
MovementPoint at an object and than thrust downwards.
What It DoesMakes an object heavier than it already is, increasing the weight with more power put into the spell. It can also be used as a counter spell to the Feather Light spell, and the opposite is also true, the spells cancelling each other out when used on the same object.
A Brief HistoryDevised as the opposite of the Featherlight Charm, commonly used in dueling to make the robes of an opponent heavier.
Additional Information-

NameSecond Skin
IncantationNovum cutis
MovementPressing the tip of the wand to the sternum and keeping it there until the spell gets a grip on the entire skin.
What It DoesIt sort of makes the skin of a person thicker or temporarily renews it to cover scarring or tattoos. This only lasts four hours at the most, depending on the magical power available to the caster at the time and how much contact, friction, and pressure the second skin comes into contact with.
A Brief HistoryDevised by tattoo artists when magical moving tattoos started becoming popular, due to the necessity of some witches or wizards to not just freeze the movements but to hide them altogether. It was adopted by some more powerful werewolves not much later to help hide their own scars. As a wand, a lot of control over one's magic, and quite some magical power are necessary to cast the spell, many werewolves who lost their wands or were too weak physically or did not complete their education are unable to cast it.
Additional InformationIt is found in very rare tomes of magic, mostly to do with metamorphmagi or espionage. Some of the older werewolves know it, as well as those in charge of packs or who have been more closely in contact with magical folk.

NameSecret-Keeping Spell
IncantationUnknown, forgotten
MovementUnknown, forgotten
What It DoesPrevents ideas being shared to 'unlike others'
A Brief HistoryThe Secret-Keeping spell was an ancient ritual used to guard secrets in a way similar to the (relatively) more modern Fidelius Charm. Applied more to spells and potions than homes, however, the Secret-Keeping spell was a way to speak freely of rituals to others in a shared tribe or culture, without being able to share to others who did not belong. While rituals might be be overseen, the spell prevents rituals from being spoken about, written about, or drawn about to outsiders.
Additional InformationA victim of its own success-- the only remnants of the Secret-Keeping spell are the rituals it was used on. Variations have been found in practicers of tribal magic, old Dark Magic, and specific rituals, ensuring that certain practices stay in families or cultures. While it is possible to turn from an outsider to an insider and vice versa, the people brought in or cast out are held to the same standards as those who were born in.

One oddity is that while it holds against those born with natural legilmency, it does not hold against those who learned the mental art.

Relatively known about, and rituals wrapped in the spell are common enough in older families and/or older cultures.

NameThe Unnatural Attraction Charm
IncantationBlanditia Illicitus
MovementA zig zag pattern between the two intended targets.
What It DoesThis spell allows two incompatible creatures to successfully mate together and create a hybrid creature, and charms the two creatures with an attraction with which to do so. The results of some hybrids are completely unpredictable, especially with magical creatures. The targeted creatures will have their eyes glow pink while they are under the spell.
A Brief HistoryThis rather old spell is the primary means by which Magical Breeders create new species. It is highly regulated under the Ban on Experimental Breeding. It was infamously used by Rubeus Hagrid to create the Blast-Ended Skrewts in 1994.
Additional Information-

NameThe Unseen Portal Charm
IncantationPerambulo
MovementA square shape on the intended area to charm.
What It DoesTurns a solid surface into a doorway without showing any sign of changing. With this charm, one can turn a wall into a passage they can simply walk through.
A Brief HistoryThis spell is believed by most to have been invented by the Ministry of Magic for the sake of the King’s Cross Station project, though in reality it dates back to the time of the Founders.
Additional Information-

NameThe Voice Changing Charm
IncantationMutare Vocem
MovementPoint wand at throat of intended target, including self if desired.
What It DoesChanges the voice of the target in any way the castor can imagine. From soft, to squeaky, masculine to feminine and everything in between.
A Brief HistoryOriginally conceived as a joke spell, it was quickly discovered there were more useful uses for this spell in using it to disguise oneself when speaking.
Additional InformationIt is ended with the General Counter-Spell.

NameThe Voice Throwing Charm
IncantationDicere
MovementA simple tap on the target object.
What It DoesThis spell is place on an object that glows red when the spell is placed on it. Any object will do. After this spell is placed, when the castor speaks their voice will come out of the object instead of their own mouth. This charm ends when the castor wills or when the castor is rendered unconscious.
A Brief HistoryMuch like the Marionette charm, this charm was made by Ancient Greek wizards for puppeteering, projecting their voice from their puppets. Unlike the Marionette spell, there was never a period where this spell faded from history, as it was discovered to be a useful distraction tool.
Additional InformationThis spell will only work on objects, not living creatures.

Healing Spells
NameThe Diagnostic Spell
IncantationSolas Macalla
MovementA wavy line over the person it's being performed on,
What It DoesMuch like a muggle MRI, a CT scan, and a full body x-ray rolled into one, the spell, when performed on a patient, can tell the caster what is wrong with the patient from the inside out. It can diagnose things that cannot be seen with the naked eye, and the results are then printed onto the object that the wand is pointed at upon the conclusion of the spell. That way it can be done in a clinical setting, or in a trauma situation in the field.
A Brief HistoryAndromeda has been a healer, and a muggle doctor and surgeon for over forty-five years now, and there are some aspects of each world that she liked when it came to medics. This spell draws both together, and it serves to improve the accuracy with which they can diagnose internal injuries. It is something that she has been working on for years, and it is still something that she tweaks and perfects as they go along. It is an ever changing, ever evolving spell, a constant project - much like the ever changing world of medicine.
Additional InformationThis is a spell that she has only just started to share with others, and she is teaching members of her staff and all incoming healers in training, to use it. It is something that she hopes they can all learn to use it and better save lives. The spell emits a golden glow from the tip of the wand that encompasses the patient for a moment before disappearing completely.

NameThe Sonogram Spell
IncantationLamperí Ichó
MovementPoint directly at the patient's abdomen.
What It DoesThis works much the same way as a muggle sonogram, except instead of projecting a picture on the screen, it shows up as a three dimensional hologram above the mother's abdomen, that the healer can then spin and turn and stretch using their hand or wand to point out different things.
A Brief HistoryThis spell has been around since before muggles invented the sonogram. A Greek midwife came up with it in the age of Athens and it is something that has been altered and perfected in the centuries since then, but the concept is still the same. To check on the stage of development of an unborn child.
Additional InformationThis is a common spell that all healers would have learned at some point, probably even if they weren't a maternity ward healer. There is a warm, tingling sensation for a moment, and a soft white light that gives way to the hologram, which is usually sort of sepia toned.

Hexes/Curses/Jinxes
NameAggressive Follicles Jinx
IncantationSit irascibilis
MovementDownward loops or coils.
What It DoesIt makes your hair kind of take on a mind of it's own. A pretty aggressive mind. Not that it can think, really, but suddenly it mats up in massive snarls that are near-impossible to get out, and some people swear that the tangles move around. There's also some circumstantial evidence that it swallows small insects. It definitely has a Thing against hair products such as brushes and combs.
A Brief HistoryInvented on the spot probably during a duel in the early 2000s, probably hoping to force something to attack the opponent. What student did this, isn't known-- but likely they were a Ravenclaw, or Slytherin. It enjoyed some brief popularity, and then mostly died out, with the reason that it didn't really do much, and while it would torment the victim, it wasn't all too helpful as a duelling spell.
Additional InformationA fully successful counter-jinx has not yet been made, and a Finite does not reverse it. Shaving your head also does not fix it. Sleekeazy's just makes it shiny.

NameThe Anchoring Curse
IncantationNumquam Relinquere
MovementTwirling motion ending in a pointed jab towards the intended target. The twirling motion and incantation must be continuously repeated like a chant for every day the castor would like the spell to last. This spell can also be done in unison with other witches and wizards for strengthened results, though this level of coordination is hard to achieve.
What It DoesThis curse is meant to bind a target to the location they are in when it is cast. It can work on people, animals, ghosts and objects. The area in which the target cannot leave can be anything from a cave, a drawn circle, a room, house or even a cage. Once cast, there are only a few ways available to undo the curse. The target will experience the barrier as an invisible wall that they cannot pass, even with physical help. The curse is a light blue color when it flows from the wand, and both target and anchor will glow the same color for a few seconds after the curse hits.
A Brief HistoryThis curse is ancient, so much so that no one knows who invented it. It's most well-known historical use was the imprisonment and eventual cause of death of Merlin himself. More commonly, this spell has been used internationally as a fancy means for a wizard or witch to ground their children, or as a means of placing a prisoner under house arrest. It has also been used as a way to guard treasures from thieves in the days before Gringotts Bank, or keeping creatures in place to guard such items. It is a tricky spell, and often those who try it without sufficient skill will have the spell backlash onto them and trap themselves in its effects instead. Today, it is a fairly obscure spell to perform, and considered difficult to by most wizards.
Additional InformationThis spell was inspired by the Legend of Merlin. (Yes, this is supposedly how he died, cursed to stay in a cave until he died). Methods of removing the curse include:

1. Being a stronger witch or wizard. A lesser witch or wizard's power will be incapable of holding a greater witch or wizard's power and the anchor curse will break when the stronger prisoner resists. This is why some try to do the spell with mutliple people to hold the spell.

2. Someone with True Love for the Prisoner rescuing them. This mysterious thing often can break even the strongest of magic.

3. Killing the Witch or Wizard that placed the curse. This will instantly break the curse. If more then one witch or wizard placed the curse together, then they will all need to die to destroy the curse.

4. Waiting for the curse to end naturally. Most people do not have the patience to make this spell last a long, long time. Most of the time, someone might be trapped for days and gave up trying, only to later realize the spell had run its course.

5. Destroying the Anchor. Though it could endanger the target of the curse, destroying the location they are anchored to in the first place will break the curse. Doing so safely is the tricky part.

NameBone-Breaking Curse
IncantationPerfringo
MovementA whiplike motion at the bone wanted to break.
What It DoesBreaks bones, but for some reason the incantation does not work on the skull or spinal cord.
A Brief HistoryOne of the older jinxes, not taught in school. Invented in the 1700s or so, by a Dark witch, who passed the curse to her followers. Originally, it was to be kept a secret, but during upswings in Dark wixen, knowledge has generally died down. Resurrected during Grindelwald's rise, and kept within a small circle. Came into usage during Lord Voldemort's first rise, passed down to children, and experienced a sharp upswing in both usage and knowledge.
Additional InformationNonfatal, though very painful. Requires a few Healing charms.

NameThe Branding Curse
IncantationDenoto
MovementPoint at the target before tracing the desired image or words over the target.
What It DoesThis curse is meant to burn images or writings into a victim. It is quite painful, and if left untreated for the first couple hours the markings can be permanent. The wand tip glows blood red while this spell is in effect.
A Brief HistoryIt is thought that there was an ancient variation of this curse from Egypt, though it is best known to be rediscovered by Merwyn the Malicious. In the time of Grindelwald it was known to be used on war prisoners, and it was again used by some Death Eaters in the first of Voldemort’s war to mark ‘Mudbloods’ and ‘Blood Traitors’ while they were still alive as a method of both insult and injury.
Additional InformationSkilled healers can remove the marks of this curse within the first few hours of it being made, but after that they can only reduce the scaring due to the Dark Magic settling in, leaving a permanent mark.

NameThe Burning Curse
IncantationChagrin
MovementAn upward thrust followed by a sharp point.
What It DoesThe wand tip glows red when this spell is active. It makes the target feel uncomfortably warmer and warmer the longer the spell is kept on them, until the it eventually escalates to feeling like they are being burned alive. Despite the feeling, there is no physical harm, only the sensation over the nerves.
A Brief HistoryThis curse was invented for the purposes of torture by Emeric the Evil. It was considered inferior to the Cruciatus Curse, as it often makes the subject pass out from the pain, where the Cruciatus tends to override the ability to escape the pain by such means. It was considered to be Dark Magic. Most dark witches and wizards only use it when they feel like being creatively sadistic and change up from the usual, while still not leaving a mark.
Additional Information-

NameThe Chimera Spell
IncantationSynkentrotheite
MovementThis spell requires an infinity pattern over the necessary materials before doing a downward slashing pattern towards the intended target.
What It DoesThis horrible spell requires several living sacrifices and an intended recipient to receive traits from these sacrifices. It is intended to turn one creature into something of a hybrid creature out of the living materials. When in use, the sacrifices appear to melt and swirl into the target as a bloody tornado before all trace of them disappears into the new creature created. This spell will often go wrong and kill the intended target, and requires experimentation or sometimes just luck to create a successful creature. It is recommended to use the Refinement spell afterwards to correct any mistakes and refine the design of such creatures.
A Brief HistorySometimes known as the Chimera Curse, especially when attempts are made to use it on humans. It is believed this spell to be an ancient one, and it was so called due to it's supposed status as the origin of the fearsome creature that shares its name. This spell is today considered Dark Magic and is also banned under the Ban on Experimental Breeding. It is believed Lord Voldemort used this spell to enhance his pet snake, Nagini.
Additional Information-

NameThe Curse of Senselessness
IncantationInsipiens
MovementSeven circular motions followed by a thrust, both in the direction of the intended target.
What It DoesThis spell appears as a black beam that devours all light around it. When it hits a target, that target will lose all five of the senses. They will see, hear, taste, smell and touch nothing. While capable of movement, the lack of senses will diminish self-control. The curse only lasts as long as the Witch or Wizard that casts it maintains the will to keep it going, disallowing the use of any further spell work while the spell is maintained.
A Brief HistoryThis spell was created by Godelot, though supposedly it was taught to him by the Elder Wand. The details of it are still contained in his book, Magick Moste Evile for any Dark Witch or Wizard to find and practice.
Additional Information-

NameCurse of Sleeplessness
IncantationSine Somnum
MovementA circular motion above the head followed by a downward slash towards the target.
What It DoesThis curse comes out as a dark blue beam from the wand, and if it hits a living target, that target will be unable to sleep or fall unconscious until the curse is lifted. The curse can be lifted by the witch or wizard that placed it, or by killing the witch or wizard that placed it.
A Brief HistoryThis was a spell invented by Merwyn the Malicious. It was often used by Dark Wizards to prolong torture by making sure victims could not pass out from the pain.
Additional InformationThe kiss of true love is also capable of lifting the curse, though this method is less known. There are many side effects to being unable to sleep that one might want to look up if they are ever under the effects of this curse.

NameThe Disorientating Blast Hex
IncantationOblito Butio
MovementPoint towards target, giving an upward flick to detonate the spell.
What It DoesSends out a white light the size of a softball that moves towards the intended destination silently, and the moment it reaches it, explodes in a blinding white light with loud bang. It is meant to temporarily blind, deafen and disorient people around the target location of the spell.
A Brief HistoryThis spell is a fairly recent invention by a nomaj-born auror named Alex Morgan in America in 1997, where it quickly became a popular spell for surprising criminals and disorienting them before moving in and stunning them. It was effective, and quickly spread to other law enforcement agencies worldwide in the early 2000s. It became officially published as a publicly known spell in 2011 in defensive spellbooks.
Additional InformationNot recommended for dueling, for even the castor will be affected if within range of the ‘bang’.

NameThe Flaying Curse
IncantationCutis
MovementSwish, flick and then trace over the skin that one wishes to remove.
What It DoesThis dark magic curse removes the skin from the body, and is tremendously painful.
A Brief HistoryA spell used by Dark Wizards for many centuries as a form of torture, and even execution. It fell out of favor when healers were able to easily regrow skin and heal wounds created by this curse. It actually takes a long time to completely skin a victim alive, but a patch of skin at a time is much easier.
Additional Information-

NameForm Lock Curse
IncantationMutata Firmamentum
MovementSeven up and down waving motions.
What It DoesUses Dark Magic to lock the form of a transfigured target, making it harder to undo a transfiguration by the usual methods. Appears as a blinding red light when used.
A Brief HistoryThis spell was invented through failure. There was once a Wizard whose son had been bitten by a werewolf. He attempted to find a cure, and believed that since the baleful transformation was of a dark creature, the only way to combat it would be to use dark magic. He invented this spell in an attempt to lock the form of his son as a human, though the attempt ended in his failure and gruesome death.

Years later, a Dark Wizard named Emeric the Evil came upon the notes of this spell, and experimented with it. He discovered that while it did nothing for lycanthropy, the spell did do something to transfigured targets, making it harder to make a transfigured person, creature or object return to their natural state even through the usual spells.

It has since become heavily banned by the international community. The saving grace of this curse is that there have been few Dark Wizards who prefer transfiguration, and that this spell requires a large amount of power that the common Dark Wizards lack.
Additional InformationSt. Mungo’s has devised methods to cure this curse through potions, though it can take as long as a week and sometimes longer depending on the power of the one who put the curse on them. Those left in a transfigured state for too long will often revert back with ‘transfiguration scars’ even when cured, such as permanently changed eyes, hair color, a patch of scales on their skin or other things of a similar nature to what they were turned into.

NameThe Golden Hitting Hex
IncantationMuda
MovementPoint at target.
What It DoesThis spell produces a golden light that is shaped like a first that flies towards the target, that when it hits produces a physical force equivalent to a light punch at its weakest and being hit by something like a bludger hitting a Quidditch Player at its most powerful on whatever it hits. It fast and easy to cast, and can be easily repeated in quick succession without much wand movement.
A Brief HistoryWhile there have been many variations of hexes that produce direct physical force in similar ways, the most recent incarnation that has become preferred is believed to have come out of Japan in the 1980s. It’s ease to cast and short time between casting has made it a favored dueling spell. It has also been associated with organized crime, as a means to punish people by battering them with a few pounds of it.
Additional InformationWhile commonly used offensively, this spell can also be used defensively by hitting incoming in-coming projectiles out of the way, though this kind of reaction might take practice to perfect in a dueling setting.

NameThe Hangman Hex
IncantationSuffoco Suspendium
MovementPoint at the throat of the target, followed by a swirling motion and ended with an upward thrust.
What It DoesThe invisible hex feels like a hangman’s rope wrapping around the throat. It pulls a victim up into the air by the neck and strangles them. While incredibly violent, this hex requires complete concentration on the part of the caster, and any distraction will cause the spell to fail and drop the victim.
A Brief History This spell was believed to be invented by Emeric the Evil, but became most commonly used by wizards and witches angry about witch hunts, and as revenge against those few witches that were caught and hung.
Additional Information-

NameThe Hunger Hex
IncantationInedia
MovementA swish and point to the belly of the intended victim.
What It DoesThis spell makes the tip of the wand glow purple when used, and makes a single living target feel hungry, even if they have recently eaten.
A Brief HistoryThis spell was created by Merwyn the Malicious, and he used it often to make people he didn’t like eat too much and become fat or suffer other effects of overeating.
Additional Information-

NameThe Itching Hex
IncantationScabiola
MovementThree sharp up and down motions towards the target.
What It DoesProduces a pale yellow light that causes a living target to itch uncontrollably all over their body.
A Brief HistoryThis spell was created Merwyn the Malicious. Nowadays treated as a minor curse considering the counter curse is commonly known to school children in the modern day, often used in bullying and pranks.
Additional Information-

NameLip Sticking Jinx
IncantationSavium Agglutino
MovementSwirling motion and a flick towards the target.
What It DoesCauses one targets lips to gain the quality of sticking to lips. When the targets mouth is closed, they will be unable to open it again until this jinx is removed. If the target is kissing someone, their lips will stick together until this jinx is removed. The jinx is easily removed.
A Brief HistoryCreated by Merwyn the Malicious, though today known as a mostly harmless pranking spell.
Additional Information-

NameMelting Curse
IncantationLiquescimus
MovementPoint at target.
What It DoesAppears as a bright red beam. When it hits a target, that target begins to liquefy and warm up, as though melting. When hitting fur or skin, will melt the patch of skin it hits first. Easily healed, but very painful and potentially deadly if the beam is maintained on a single living target for a length of time. Tends to bounce off mirrors.
A Brief HistoryThis deadly spell is considered dark magic, and is used both in dueling and as a form of torture or execution. As a dueling spell it has a tendencies to be used on protective clothing, which will melt off the body and make a more vulnerable target. It does similar to fur on an animal. Muggleborns tend to compare it to science fiction style lasers when they see the spell in action.
Additional Information-

NameThe Nightmare Curse
IncantationFormido Vestra Somniabunt
MovementA complicated X movement.
What It DoesIt's a very specific form of torture. It causes the victim to fall into a nearly impossible to wake from coma. While in that coma, the victim suffers from powerful hallucinations and nightmares of their greatest fears. It is never-ending, and normally the victim does end up dying in real life as well, whether from a stress-induced heart attack, or something else. No one has really been able to describe exactly what it is like, since no one ever really wakes up from it.
A Brief HistoryThe Lestrange family have always been known for their closeness to the dark arts, so it's not uncommon for any of them to venture into spell invention. Rodolphus was particularly interested in this, and from before he even graduated, he was working on trying to create his own spells. He was finally successful in 1973. Over the years, and during both wars, it became something of his signature hex. No one knows the exact wand work or words, since it is normally done wandlessly and nonverbally.
Additional InformationThe light from the curse is silver and wispy. It's Rodolphus Lestrange's signature curse.

NameOсушенный - Osushennyy
Incantation
Ты уничтожишь всякую слезу от своих глаз, и смерти больше не будет.
Не будет и скорбей, и криков, и боли.
Эти вещи исчезли, вас больше нет.
Ты мой.

Ty unichtozhish' vsyakuyu slezu ot svoikh glaz, i smerti bol'she ne budet.
Ne budet i skorbey, i krikov, i boli.
Eti veshchi ischezli, vas bol'she net.
Ty moy.

You will wipe out every tear from your eyes and death will be no more.
Neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore.
These things have passed away, you are no more.
You are mine.

Movement
It includes a very thorough ceremony including blood magic, necromancy and a (non-magical) human sacrifice. Also included are several rare herbs, burned in close proximity to the victim in order for the fumes to be inhaled. With the right runes carved into the sacrifice's skin, deep to the bone, and the same runes painted in a pattern in the victim's blood around the sacrifice and the caster, the process can begin. The caster must cut the sacrifice's veins on their wrists and ankles, allowing it to drain while still alive, and then begin the incantation while pressing the tip of the caster's wand to the sacrifice's forehead. When it is done, the throat must be slit and death must be allowed to take hold. If it has succeeded, the effects will quickly be visible.
What It Does
It turns a living, breathing person into something between a ghoul and an inferius. The Osushennyy's skin is coal black, and so are its eyeballs and teeth. This is proof of the fortitude the spell adds to the body, as the energy spent on its soul and awareness is recycled to make the body more hardy. It does not heal, however, and its controller must mend the damage manually. The limits one's brain subconsciously places on the body's strength are also gone and, combined with the new endurance, it does not damager the body. The Osushennyy only have partial awareness of their surroundings, knowing who their master is and how to navigate their way in the world, but they have no will of their own and rely completely on instructions provided by their creator. They do recognise said creator's magic, as their semi-sentience feeds off of it, and they obey verbal and non-verbal orders.
A Brief History
Born from decades of experimentation, the process is a result of a combination of the efforts of Tatiana and Serafina Petrova.
Additional Information
Osushennyy do not last long, the endurance spells harden the body and eventually it starts to harden to a state resembling that of granite. Persisted movement will cause it to crack and crumble. The average duration for a specimen is only three days. They cannot speak or make verbal sounds and need nourishment to keep their strength, the best diet for them is flesh.

NamePainful Truth Spell (officially). Typically known as "Any Truth'll Do" by disgruntled wixen.
IncantationVeritrucio
MovementA corkscrewing motion.
What It DoesGives pain similar to the Cruciatus (though on a scaled down, though still extremely painful version) to the victim until they tell the truth. Useful as a torturing spell. Downside-- any truth relieves the pain.
A Brief HistoryMade by some low-level follower of Voldemort, who lost his Veritaserum and never had enough want for the Cruciatus. He promptly died shortly after making it, but it was picked up by some-- that is, until they realized the downfall of it.
Additional InformationAn assumption about this curse is that with enough practice of this spell, they can resist the Cruciatus (it's completely false).

NamePetrification Curse
IncantationApolitho
MovementTwo horizontal crescent shaped sweeps followed by three circular motions and a vertical swipe to finish.
What It DoesThis spell appears out of the wand as a dark gray cloud. When it hits a target, it begins to transfigure the target into stone, though as a curse this transfiguration is not easily undone. A petrified victim is left alive but immobile and helpless. The transformation is often as slow as a minute, and any lapse in concentration will break the spell and return the victim to normal.
A Brief HistoryThis spell was invented by infamous spell inventor and dark wizard Herpo the Foul, theoretically created by studying the Gorgons native to his home of Greece. It never became popular as a spell due to its difficulty and curable nature though it has been kept in books about the Dark Arts for millennia since it’s invention. It is unknown how many undiscovered victims have spent their lives stuck for life in this spell to this day. This curse was considered a possibility for the Chamber of Secrets attacks, though Albus Dumbledore believed it unlikely that a student possessed the ability to learn such an advanced Dark Magic at their ages.
Additional InformationThis curse can be undone by the Mandrake Restorative Draught only. The concentration and power necessary to do this spell is beyond most underage witches and wizards, and even most adult witches and wizards won’t manage it, even experienced Dark Wizards. Most believe it the complex wand motion to be the problem, though others feel it is more magical power and the will to render their opponent completely helpless for the entire length of the spell is what most practitioners will fail at in the end.

NameThe Refinement Spell
IncantationMaiorem
MovementTwirl wand in a circular pattern towards the intended target until all intended changes are made. The target grows a sickly green color while the spell is in process.
What It DoesThe Refinement Spell is intended to refine and enhance the traits of a living creature. It is a delicate spell, and any mistakes could kill the creature. It is also painful for the creature while they are being modified. The greater the changes, the more likely the creature will die rather than be refined. Once completed, the changes are hard to reverse while keeping the creature alive.
A Brief HistoryThis spell has traits of a Dark Magic in its permanency and transfiguration in its ability to change a creature. It was included in the Ban on Experimental Creatures. It is believed that Lord Voldemort used this spell to enhance his pet, Nagini.
Additional Information-
NameThe Poking Jinx
IncantationTago
MovementThe wand movement is simply pointing the wand at the intended target.
What It DoesThis spell in invisible and silence. It feels like a poke of a finger when it hits its target.
A Brief HistoryA simple spell often used by children to annoy their siblings. It is considered one of the easiest spells in the world, and also one of the least useful.
Additional Information-

NameWhipping Hex
IncantationPunio
MovementA swipe towards the intended target.
What It DoesThe Whipping Hex is meant to produce a pain similar to a whip lashing over the skin of a target. The tip of the wand flashes white for only a second while the spell is in effect, which is the only visible sign of the spell before it hits with a loud crack sound. While initially quite painful, injuries of the whipping hex tend to only leave red whip marks on the skin. However the spell can cut lightly on the skin with enough power put into the spell, and such cuts can be made deeper by continued application of the spell over and over again. This spell is easily blocked with Protego as long as the caster can predict when and where the Whipping Hex will hit. Practical applications of this spell include use as a minor dueling spell that is quick and can catch opponents by surprise, or as a method of torture or punishment to a helpless victim.
A Brief HistoryThe Whipping Spell is a fairly old spell that was used to punish children for misbehavior, and in ancient days for punishing peasants and even slaves. While the original inventor is lost to time, the spell has continued to exist, though it's popularity for punishing has been looked down on in time. It became more commonly seen as a dueling spell during the 19th Century throughout Europe, for it's simple incantation, wand work and speed being able to catch some opponents by surprise. It has also stayed in the hands of torturers throughout the ages, as unlike the Cruciatus Curse it is not too quick to overwhelm and break a prisoner. It can still be found in spellbooks today, especially those that center on Jinxes and Hexes.
Additional InformationThis spell is simple enough that any second or third year Hogwarts student could use it, though it was not officially taught in Defense of the Dark Arts. However, Dark Arts Professors might find it a useful addition to add to their curriculum as Hogwarts takes a different turn.

NameWound Expansion Curse
IncantationCrescere Vulnere
MovementPoint at a fresh wound, whether it be a cut or burn, and then create a widening circular pattern until you wish to stop.
What It DoesMakes a relatively fresh wound or burn larger, increasing the pain and damage to the body. Continues to grow as long as spell is kept.
A Brief HistoryInvented by Emeric the Evil and considered to be Dark Magic, it has been used for torture and murder for hundreds of years, and will continue to be so for years to come.
Additional Information-

NameWrapping Curse
IncantationStipare
MovementContinuous circular twirling around the target until the castor wishes to stop.
What It DoesConjures bandage wrap in the color of castor’s choice that moves on it’s own to wrap around the intended target. They are very strong and extremely hard to cut or damage. Ceases to wrap the moment the spell is stopped, allowing for only partially wrapping a target if desired.
A Brief HistoryThere are rumors that this spell was invented in Ancient Egypt as a way to mummify people, but this is a falsification propagated by gullible wizards and witches. It was actually invented in 1897 by a Witch grandmother who wanted to wrap Christmas Presents better. During the Wizarding World War, it was discovered to be an effective restraining spell, able to safely wrap up an incapacitated opponent while being hard to remove quickly by further enemies. It is still used today for both these purposes.
Additional InformationWrapping continuously will end up in many layers of wrapping. It is possible to stop part way through, leaving for a lot of options, such as leaving the mouth of a victim uncovered for interrogation.

Name
IncantationThere is no verbal spell or wand movement, it is rather the channeling of magic internally in the body without turning it outwards. Usually, it is best to perform it with a proper meditation posture.
MovementThere is no verbal spell or wand movement, it is rather the channeling of magic internally in the body without turning it outwards. Usually, it is best to perform it with a proper meditation posture.
What It DoesIt slowly begins to repair a body by letting the magic from a witch or wizard's core course through the muscles, blood vessels and organs. It's not healing or a cure for anything, it merely eases muscle strain and mental exhaustion.
A Brief History禅 is a technique that has been been for millennia throughout Asia, though it was said to first be named on the coast of what is now China with the rise of Taoism. Although it true energising power can only be accessed by those with magical power, as it is said to be a maintenance of the self, muggles also use magic-less variants in order to clear their head and deal with chronic pain. Needless to say, magic makes it far more effective.
Additional InformationAnybody can do it with enough patience, peace of mind, and usuallyguidance.

last updated: 24 october 2018
Name
Abluvio
Color
Transparent, easy to confuse with Veritaserum
What It Does
It must be ingested for a long period of time, depending on the dosage, but it eventually erodes a person from the inside. Their organs, their bones, it's slowly washed away. If given only a few drops a day for months it can seem like a natural phenomenon, but if a large dose is given at once the victim will collapse within hours. Its effects, if subtle and stretched out enough, are not traceable to a poison, so it is unlikely a Healer will be able to prove murder with it. That is, of course, only guaranteed as long as the poison's usage remains sporadic.
A Brief History
It was invented by Eleanor Bulstrode née Selwyn, in 1996 and utilised to murder her husband, Thaddeus. Since then it has no been used.
Rarity
There is only one vial of the poison, currently stashed in Lady Bulstrode's personal poison cabinet, and its instructions are written in her private manuals which are kept private and hidden. The only other person in knowledge of the method of preparation is the Lady's daughter, who has never actually brewed it.
Ingredients
Leech teeth, sap from a Venomous Tentacula, a Rosary Pea, and White Snakeroot extract are some of its less secret ingredients.
Additional Information
The measures written in the instructions are only enough for a teacup of the poison, and its effectiveness vanishes quickly if not sealed in an airtight vial. An hour in contact with fresh air is all it can stand, so it must be poured into the victim's drink as close to its drinking moment as possible.

NameAnimation Elixir
ColorCrystal Clear
What It DoesMixed with ink or paint, this elixir makes it so that things made with it are animated. This animation alone will not make any art used incredibly intelligent, though they do tend to act in a way according to the will of the artist, with greater capabilities often enchanted later.
A Brief HistoryThis potion has been around for a long time across the magical world. In Britain, it has been used to make both long lasting works of art or simple imaginative school doodles.
RarityCommon
Ingredients-
Additional Information-

NameLiquid Sunshine
ColorSoft, buttery yellow that almost looks like it has glitter inside it
What It DoesAids in depression, anxiety and those suffering from PTSD.
A Brief HistoryWas made to aide those who fought in the wars. Unlike the Euphoria potion, it is needed regularly instead of being a temporary fix, it helps those who take it by decreasing their anxiety and depression vastly. It is not a cure and is often prescribed along with Therapy.
RarityCommon
IngredientsAdder's Fork, Butterscotch, Cat Hair, Dittany, and Fairy Wings are among the ingredients.
Additional InformationThe inventor is a now deceased Healer who worked in the Janus Thickney Ward.

NameNausea Potion
ColorSilverly blue
What It DoesIt wards off nausea for an extended period of time, allowing the drinker to eat, and drink, and consume, and hold down, the nutrients that their body needs to survive.
A Brief HistoryThis is a nausea potion of Andromeda's own invention that can take out pretty much any form of nausea, though she uses it herself for morning sickness, and most of the time if she's giving anyone a vial of it, it is for that reason as well. It does have one rather interesting side effect... But she says that if you've taken it you know what that is, and that right now there are only a handful of people alive that have taken it, and they are the only ones that need to know.
RarityMore than Extremely Rare - She's never told anyone else, or even written down, how she brews it.
Ingredients-
Additional Information-

NameSensational Saliva Solution
ColorPink with sunshine yellow fumes
What It DoesMakes the correct drinkers saliva temporarily take on the traits of Euphoria Elixirs when contacting the skin or lips of others. Has the side effect of making drinkers act giddy and overly affectionate for the duration. It only lasts for about an hour.
A Brief HistoryThis modification to the Elixir to Induce Euphoria was actually made by a teenage potioneer attempting to make his kisses more appealing. It was later used by vampires to make their bites more addicting for their victims.
RarityUncommon
IngredientsSimilar ingredients to the Elixir to Induce Euphoria, though the brew is prepared differently, and with the addition of a drop of the intended drinkers saliva.
Additional InformationIf anyone but the intended drinker drinks it, it will act simply like an Elixir to Induce Euphoria, though of lesser quality and potency.

NameDream Weaving
зүүд зүүдлэв
OriginMongolian Steppes, pre-13th Century
TheoryDream Weaving is an ancient art traditionally found in most nomadic Mongolian tribes and hordes. It combines the art of manually weaving tapestries, fabrics and nets with mind magic, to create physical representations. Other times, it can all happen within a person's mind. Those who use Dream Weaving for good will normally be able to heal minds of bad memories by trapping them in tapestries and destroying them, severing the hold they have on a person's mind. Similarly, tapestries can be made of good memories and they will be tangible and eternal. Dream Weavers can also weave nets to trap bad dreams and thoughts, or weave good thoughts and habits into a person's mind. Anyone with bad intentions can plant paranoia, fake memories, and even insanity into a person's mind. It is therefore of utmost importance that any person who is taught this sacred art understand the great responsibility and duty that they bare towards their people. Anyone wishing to learn this art must be patient, gentle handed, and have an eye for detail.
Sub-DisciplinesMemory Weaving, Mind Healing, Dream Catching, Mind Guiding, etc.
RarityIt is not uncommon for a single nomadic group or tribe to have two or three Mind Weavers. A master and a few disciples. However, while anybody can learn it, the talent to truly master the art appears only once or twice in a generation.
Additional InformationIt's a very closely guarded secret, nearly impossible to learn as an outsider. The power this technique gives its learner is greatly coveted and its secrets are jealously protected.

All disciplines here are traditionally used only by those magical Mongolians that still live a traditionally nomadic lifestyle. Those who have become sedentary tend to have a much more formal and Western array of magical disciplines.

NameFjaðrhamr
OriginScandinavia
TheorySelf-Transfiguration
Sub-DisciplinesNone
RarityExtremely uncommon out of Scandinavian and/or Nordic countries. Quite uncommon among descendants, requiring years of study.
Additional InformationA phenomenon originating in Scandinavia, Fjaðrhamr literally translates as “feather form” and specifically refers to an ancient precursor practice to Animagism. Instead of seeking to find an animal form that resembled one’s personality in some respects, ancient Scandinavian wixes sought efficient and useful forms instead and so this method was developed. Instead of spending a long period learning to self-transfigure into an alternative form that bears resemblance to one’s personality, Fjaðrhamr used artefacts, often feathered cloaks, in order to allow one to grow close to the magical essence, so to speak, of an animal, and thus take on aspects of it. Early versions of this art caused one to utterly take on the bird’s form, while later ones permitted partial change, altering one’s arms into wings. These later ones in turn have begun a study into enchanted clothes, in order to create winged robes and jackets which might fly one a certain distance.

Fjaðrhamr is by no means an easy art, and though Animagism is heavily regulated it is generally considered to be a more precise art and, once mastered, less likely to go wrong. Fjaðrhamr on the other hand, even when mastered, may still have unfortunate side-effects. An improperly bespelled cloak may prevent one transforming one way or another, or may keep one only partially transformed until the spellwork can be undone. Additionally, too long spent transformed can affect the mind, and over-use of a singular feather-cloak to take a feather-form may begin to alter one’s personality to resemble that of the bird species in question - it was this point that led to the preference for Animagus forms, once Norse wixen learned of the art. Nonetheless, Fjaðrhamr is considered to be a unique magical art of Scandinavia, and a prized piece of cultural heritage. Perhaps surprisingly, the art continues to be used to this day: provided it is used sparingly it causes no long term harm, and being able to take a feather-form is valued by the various Scandinavian Auror Corps as much as Animagism is, especially for those few who are capable of both.

NameGolem-making
OriginAshkenazi wixen
TheoryA mixture of Animating, Alchemy, Charms, Binding, and Warding
Sub-DisciplinesNone
RarityExtremely rare though common within extremely small areas, a culture-limited practice. Among Jewish mages, the knowledge of how to create one is rare, mostly limited to mages of religious families who have been taught by sages. As an insider, it would not be uncommon to see mages struggling and studying the discipline, all while surrounded by golems. Common in Israel, fairly uncommon in New York City. The rituals involved in the creations of golems is practiced in secrecy to keep it from being overseen by those who might otherwise see it, a result of centuries-old paranoia.
Additional InformationMages with the knowledge of how to make golems have been known to erase their own memories, destroy their minds, or kill themselves rather than share the secret in how to create them. This is not something shared with outsiders, as the making has been involved with the Secret-Keeping Spell from the beginning to ensure that the practice could not be shared with enemies, or found out by those who could turn to enemies. Golems have been formed for such menial tasks as washing dishes, cleaning, cooking, to more complicated tasks such as being protectors in whatever form that might take.

Golems are usually made to turn to sand when retired. To all intents and purposes, as well as great minds experimenting, golems simply seem to be humanoids formed of clays or stone with a few words or perhaps slips of paper into their mouths. All efforts to replicate golems by outsiders have been unsuccessful.

NameSmoke Arts
утааны урлаг
OriginMongolian Steppes, pre-13th Century
TheoryThe original, ancient ways of Mongolian spiritual shamanism are now known to most as the Smoke Arts, due to the fact that it is explicitly the section of said shamanism to deal with ceremonies. Very specific combinations of herbs and plants are used to kindle the fires for each specific ceremony, each with its own purpose and reverence. The most well known is that part of the discipline that is used to speak to what muggle Mongolians considered to be gods, but those with magic considered to be greater, non-human spirits. These spirits were seen as sources of pure magic in the world, each with its own realm. The ceremonies for deistic spirit ceremonies are used to reach out and ask for aid, guidance, and knowledge. Its counterpart is smoke ceremonies used to speak to human spirits, usually the ghosts of one's ancestors or passed loved ones. This can merely be used for festivities on a special occasion, or when one needs help that only one's ancestors can provide. Other ceremonies include those used to get an idea of a specific person's future, to heal from spiritual illnesses and to guide the departed to the real of the spirits, but there are many more.
Sub-Disciplines(Human) Spirit Ceremonies, (Deistic) Spirit Ceremonies, Divination Ceremonies, Smoke Healing, Funerary Ceremonies, etc.
RarityEvery tripe and nomadic group has at least one person in charge of the smoke ceremonies, but anybody can learn to do it. Usually, the ones selected to learn are the ones with the greatest spiritual balance and respect for their ancestors and traditions. It is said that all that is necessary is an affinity for the skill.
Additional InformationThey're considered sort of like spiritual leaders.

All disciplines here are traditionally used only by those magical Mongolians that still live a traditionally nomadic lifestyle. Those who have become sedentary tend to have a much more formal and Western array of magical disciplines.

NameShaman Healing
Бөөгийн эдгэрэлт
OriginMongolian Steppes, pre-13th Century
TheoryPerhaps the most common of all traditional Mongolian disciplines, shamanistic healing is far less scientific than the western healing of their magical counterparts. Healers know all about every single herb growing on the steppes and how to use them. They care for the health and wellbeing of their tribe as well as of their tribe's animals. Normal herbs, potions, salves, spells, and some smoke and water ceremonies are used as well as other treatments like acupuncture -due to the extensive contact with China so long ago, it is something some tribes have adopted- chakra treatment, and physical therapy.
Sub-DisciplinesPhysical therapy, acupuncture, chakra alignment, herbal arts, brewing, ceremonial healing, trauma treatment spells, illness treatment spells, maternity healing, fauna treatment.
RarityAll members of a nomadic group must have at least basic knowledge of plants and emergency healing as they are constantly traveling. However, there is usually a small amount of half a dozen actual healers in every group.
Additional InformationUnlike completely clinical healing, shamanistic healing is still very spiritual and natural. It is not considered a science but rather an art and a sacred duty towards the tribe's wellbeing.

All disciplines here are traditionally used only by those magical Mongolians that still live a traditionally nomadic lifestyle. Those who have become sedentary tend to have a much more formal and Western array of magical disciplines.

magical languages creations
last updated: 12 NOVEMBER 2018
NameDovahzul
DescriptionThis language is most commonly believed to be the languagge spoken and underestood by all breeds of dragons. It is possible for wixens to learn the language, though exceedingly difficult, and there is not much text on the subject. The language is learned at Die Schwarze Schule nearly exclusively, though other dark schools may have the ability to teach it on a lesser scale.
Native CountriesN/A
Native UsersDragons,
RarityRare for humans, common for dragons
Additional InformationAlmost exclusively taught at Die Schwarze Schule, though rare journals on the subject can be found to those who know where to look.

NameHouse Elvish
DescriptionLingua franca of House Elves. The language follows patterns typical of House Elf speech— present tense is more typical, as is the usage of personal names when talking about the self, or of behavior.
Native CountriesN/A
Native UsersAnyone can learn it, though it’s best taught by willing elves.
RarityUbiquitous to house elves, uncommon for wixen.
Additional InformationChildren of old and wealthy families at times pick up a few words accidentally, if the language isn’t forbidden in the household. However, it’s usually seen as disgraceful by parents, and both children and house elves are punished for it.

NameVila
DescriptionIt is more easily communicated in harpy form than human, Vila still bears some trace similarities to languages such as Slavic, Frankish, and Scandinavian, where Veela more commonly live. Communicated by sounds and light, as well as movement such as dance and patterns in flight, even the human form of Veela requires vocal cords similar to a Veela at the very least. While those with more wixen blood can and do learn it, the useage of wixen magic is required for an attempt at mimicry and there are communications that they would simply not be able to do. When communicated by part-Veela wixen, the language carries an accents that marks their heritage.
Native CountriesWherever Veela can be found, there’s at least one dialect of Vila.
Native UsersMostly for people who are Veela or Veela descent, though a rare few extremely talented linguists might be able to learn an “accented” version of it with the help of complex spells to influence their bodies, and the patience of remarkably tolerant Veela.
RarityUbiquitous for Veela, grows less common as the blood thins, very rare for those without Veela blood
Additional InformationThe typical rule of thumb is that the more Veela blood one has, the easier the language is to communicate in, though of course willingness to learn and personal ability with languages is a factor, like with all languages).

magical creature creations
last updated: 16 APRIL 2019
NameAlchemised Dragon
Physical DescriptionA patchwork of dragons, usually with multiple heads, or far more than six limbs.
DispositionXXXXX. Cannibalistic, hungry, and in near-constant pain.
A Brief HistoryConsidered an incredibly Dark process, Alchemised Dragons are created by bonding together the corpses of dragons into one body. The resultant creatures do not always have multiple heads, arms and tails, but the most well known specimens do, if only for the sheer terror and horror they caused when they were found. Quite how the dragon bodies for these specimens were found is debated - some believe they were bought on the blackmarket, while others believe they were bred while others still believe they were poached. Regardless, the existence of these creatures is something which consistently mortifies and horrifies those involved in Dragon Conservation.
RarityRare, for good reasons. Usually created by Dark mages.
Additional InformationThe creatures can eat through any of their mouths, if they have been made properly, and can usually survive quite well on their own. Often cannibals, they will eat any large reptiles or predators in their vicinity if they are not properly maintained by their maker. Even to their maker, however, they can be dangerous, and a number of these creatures have come to light after killing their makers. Most usually the creatures are trapped and killed by large groups of Aurors and Dragon Handlers, but on some occasions they have instead been hustled off to various Departments of Mysteries and their equivalents, for further study.

NameBroxa
Physical DescriptionA large, gray-feathered bird with strong talons, with sharp teeth within the bill. The eyes are the color of the sky, and their eggs are a pale, sandy brown. They're extremely strong, and their cries sound like rushing wind. Described by people who live around them as "large enough to fight a mountain goat."
DispositionCruel and intelligent, often enjoys tormenting others.
A Brief HistoryKnown since 4000+ years ago, found in the Levant area. Nocturnal, sucks the blood of goats and sometimes humans during the night. Found equally in mountainous areas and deserts of that area.
RarityUncommon, but the lonesome traveler often stumbles upon them.

NameBruckhee, also called Demon Badger
Physical DescriptionMonstrously large European badger around the size of a well-grown bear. Usually found by large lakes.
DispositionXXXXX. Extremely aggressive. Bruckee are highly spell-resistant and very hard to ward off; advice is generally to Apparate away.
A Brief HistoryIt has been theorized Helga Hufflepuff’s sigil is a Bruckhee, rather than a simple badger, for all that Bruckhee are native to Ireland rather than Wales. Known for their numerous brutal attacks on humans Bruckees vanished for a long period of time, which led to the strong relieved belief that they had become extinct. However a recent spate of attacks in Ireland suggest the creatures may simply have been avoiding humans, for an unknown reason, and now are making themselves known once again.

Even more recently there appear to have been possible sightings in Wales which has led to some wixes fearing the Bruckee may be expanding their habitat. This has a not-insignificant meaning, given Bruckee have been known to eat between five and ten cows in one sitting before.

Bruckee are highly resistant to most spells, though not to enchanted song (such as produced by Veela and Banshees) or potions, and can be defeated through sheer brute strength, though a very great deal must be used. Most usually it is best to soothe the creature to sleep with song or potions-laced food, and then kill the creature in its slumber.
RarityMercifully uncommon.
Additional Information-

NameCerastes
Physical DescriptionAn incredibly flexible serpent, Cerastae are subtle hunters, which primarily finds prey by camouflaging itself as prey itself. Able to coil itself back on itself with surprising ease, Cerastae have unusual spines and ribs, aided by a magic somewhat similar to that of Phantom Rats (it’s preferred prey) which allows it to fold on over itself and even through itself. During mating season Cerastae develop hornlike protrusions around their faces - ramlike on the males and four pairs of small spiky horns on the females, with intersex specimens having (usually) a mixture of both, though some have been seen with utterly unique configurations.
DispositionIntelligent. XXXX.
A Brief HistoryMost usually Cerastae feed on small birds and rodents, with a particular interest in Phantom Rats and Glisterbirds, though they will happily eat most animals that are of a size they can swallow. Cerastae are found throughout southern Europe and North Africa, and are relatively popular pets with Parselmouths in these areas, considered to be intelligent enough and surprisingly loyal. In addition to these traits their bizarre New World adaptation - a tailtip very similar to that of rattlesnakes - means the creature is well able to warn off those who might get too close, making it harder for those with prejudices against Parselmouths to accuse them of not providing suitable warning of their snake’s presence, though it has not helped with accusations of assassination attempts, even though Cerastae are not venomous.
RarityUncommon.

NameChaincoil
Physical DescriptionThough thick-bodied snakes that seem to be covered in sheets of metal and chains, Chaincoils are strangely light and easily wearable around the neck and shoulders. Most common in rust, deep grey, black, and gunmetal grey, Chaincoils are usually some combination of the colors, rarely consistent throughout.
DispositionXXX.
A Brief HistoryMagical snakes known for absorbing large amounts of metal into their systems, Chaincoils are generally thought to be constricting cousins to Verdicobras, perhaps he result of the metallic snakes crossing with an artificial snake such as a Viren. Quite when they developed is unknown.
RarityRare outside of Central and South America, uncommon within.
Additional InformationBoth the shed hides - when specially treated - and the snakes themselves are capable of rebounding any spells which hit them, due to their high metal content, while retaining high levels of flexibility and being relatively lightweight. Quite how Chaincoils manage this unknown, but it is believed to be a kind of natural alchemy, where the snakes’ innate magic allows them to bond the metal to their bodies in ways otherwise impossible.

Chaincoils, being partially artificial in origin, seem to show an affinity for wixes. Highly loyal to people they claim as theirs, they can grow to huge lengths, with many mature specimens ten metres or more. In such cases they often either coil around their wix like a living scarf or shawl, or their wix waits for shedding, and preserves the skin using certain alchemical compounds in order have it turned into a coat or a robe lining. Chaincoil hide is unique amongst most defensive hides (such as Dragon and Basilisk) in that it takes exceptionally well to enchantment, if done by the snake’s master or someone the snake trusts.

NameDipsa
Physical DescriptionImmensely small black snake, only the the largest reaching a eight centimeters, Dipsa snakes have extremely venomous fangs.
DispositionIts tiny size not only makes it easy to hide, but the high toxicity of its venom, and the painlessness of its bite means that it is almost impossible to notice someone has been bitten and to get them the antivenom in time. Despite this Dipsa are among the most pleasant and calm magical serpents to exist and, generally, are considered to make excellent pets, though they must be milked daily of their venom, lest the Ministry confiscate the creature. XXXX.
A Brief HistoryDipsa venom has been used in many purgative potions before, as it is highly effective, although Dipsa venom is never sold on the open market, but rather through the relevant magical Ministry, or equivalent institution, with a portion of the profit going to the relevant institution (usually funnelled directly into the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, or equivalent), and a portion of profit going to the snakes owner. The venom is only permitted to be bought by medical institutions, and there are numerous magical and non-magical barriers in place to ensure only magical hospitals, clinics and health centres can purchase the dangerous venom.
RarityUncommon
Additional Information-

NameDomovoi
Physical Description
The Domovoi are rarely seen and therefore their appearance is subject to many different tales. In reality a Domovoi is like a shape-shifting spirit, he appears to his kin as a small, hairy, long-bearded, old man with strangely pointed ears and burning eyes, but to an enemy he appears much larger, features enhanced, having grown a tail, ears like a horse, and small horns. The more a Domovoi feels rejected by his kin the more he will devolve into his aggressive image.
DispositionA Domovoi is generally a benevolent spirit. He is kind and he cares deeply for his kin, though he will play tricks from time to time, but the danger of a Domovoi should not be ignored. Such ancient spirits hold great power, no one truly knows just how much, and they do not use it lightly. At the first signs of danger inside the home or the family he will become disruptive, throwing things, hiding things, clanging about in the middle of the night, and even 'smothering' the humans of the house as they sleep. He will grow more aggressive the longer he is ignored, it's best to heed his warnings early. The true danger of a Domovoi, however, comes when there is a threat to the home or family present.
A Brief HistoryTruly it's unknown when Domovoi came to be, but there are many legends and many stories. All the legends agree Domovoi represents the forefather, hence he often receives the nickname 'Grandpa'. It is most likely that he came to be when families far in Russia's past needed him most and he is the spirit of all the forefathers that have passed.
RarityIt is unlikely, but not impossible, to come across a Domovoi outside of Russia. They rarely allow themselves to be seen by any that aren't kin unless the person is sensed to be a threat in any way, even then the threat will only see the aggressive image of Domovoi.
Additional InformationDomovoi detests swearing, uncleanliness, quarrels, and rudeness, such things will greatly upset him and the results of that often vary but none are good. It is dangerous to leave cutlery or food out after dusk if there is a Domovoi in the house. Though he rarely lets himself be seen he is always present, he primarily takes residence under the threshold or the hearth of the house. When leaving for a long period of time one should take a moment to sit in silence and bid the Domovoi goodbye. If a family moves the eldest should invite the Domovoi along and offer him a boot to travel in. Never offend a Domovoi.

Being representative of a forefather, or many, Domovoi are always referred to as male and they will protect their kin (their family) fiercely.

NameDracoform Boggart
Physical DescriptionUnknown, as the Dracoform shifts shapes.
DispositionXXXXX, for the company that it is found with.
A Brief HistoryThe Dracoform Boggart is a peculiar creature, whose exact origins are unknown. Despite being called a Boggart, there is little to suggest that it is related to Boggarts, as there is no evidence to suggest they feed off of fear in any way. Instead, the creature is named after its shifting ability. The true appearance of the Dracoform Boggart is unknown, instead it seems to shift from one draconic shape to the next, usually matching to local species, though some have demonstrated a preferred form, which they will keep even as they move to new environments.

While dragons are the favorite shape of the Dracoform Boggart, it is not uncommon to see them shift into other snake or serpent monsters, even transforming into Basilisks or Cockatrices. Some have even become Occamies, and a rather peculiar specimen was observed transforming into a Phoenix, before changing into a Hungarian Horntail. Some have taken this transformation to hypothesise that Phoenixes and other Firebirds may in fact be related to dragons, but there is little evidence outside of this single event.

Due to its questionable connection to the Boggart, some have proposed dropping this part of the name entirely, in favour of calling the creature a Dracoform and nothing more.
RarityRare, though found alongside the creatures it transforms into.
Additional InformationIn the bloodline of the Faroese Mazvetta, and often found in hybrid dragons.

NameEmperor Cobra
Physical DescriptionThe Emperor Cobra appears physically similar to a King Cobra, though they grow to nearly twice the length of the longest King Cobras. They are black in color, though their eye colors vary to a variety of different colors. They are venomous, though they display some sort of magical control over the potency of their venom, from a potent narcotic to dealing death in minutes. They prefer to swallow their prey alive, but use their deadly venom for self defense against threats. They're eyes are known to be hypnotic, and staring into them gives a victim a feeling of calm docility, making them easier to coil around and bite. They also heal from injury very quickly, and are highly resistant to other poisons and venom.
DispositionThe Emperor Cobra is territorial with other snakes, though not naturally aggressive around humans. They typically prefer prey that are smaller then themselves, though they do not easily back down from threats. They are prideful creatures with a deep will to dominate other creatures even if they don't have the intention to kill, though they can be playful and even affectionate with something they like. They are known to be very intelligent and have a sharp memory. They can live up to a hundred years old.
A Brief HistoryThe Emperor Cobra was created before the International Ban on Breeding by parselmouths in India as a companion creature, though they quickly started to breed in the wild by 1821. They were hunted nearly to extinction for their parts that proved wonderfully useful in a variety of potions. They sometimes get confused with King Cobras, even in the magical community, especially when they are younger and comparable to King Cobras in size. Their intelligence has lead a few to seemingly purposefully flee from India and are migrating across Asia. Some find themselves going in further then that.
RarityRare in India, and practically unknown outside of that country. They are in danger of dying out, though they have begun to migrate across Asia and beyond to escape the hunting

NameEuropean Wyvern Asps
Physical Description
Upon hatching, offspring look nigh-identical to mundane adders, before turning purple-brown at around sixth months after which they rapidly develop their signature wings and distinct colouration.Wyvern Asps are known to be dramatically coloured no matter the season, and can vary considerably from one another - even from family. Once it was thought that their colour spoke to their type of venom - it certainly did not act as camouflage - but recent studies have shown that colouration instead more reliably speaks to their preferred diet and habitat, albeit in somewhat counter-intuitive ways. Blue Wyvern Asps often prefer marshy areas and low-magic diets, while greens seek coastal areas and fishy food, browns hilly scrubland and birds and reds deep forest and high-magic diets.

Unsurprisingly, rearing these creatures is often something of a pain, as even offspring of two reds may end up browns, greens or blues and require drastically different keeping and food.
Disposition
Solitary and highly venomous creatures, who meet only to mate. XXXXX.
A Brief History
Thought once to be highly common around Europe, European Wyvern Asps became one of the first of the magical snakes to go under wixen protection. From time to time, Muggle have found and raised what the thought to be common snakes to only find them sprouting wings, though usually the proper enforcers have been able to come in quickly and wipe memories.

Due to their unique coloring, a Magizoologists may usually be found around their common areas to keep Muggles from spotting them.
Rarity
Found throughout Europe.
Additional Information
It is often very lucrative to care for the EWA: their venom and blood are both highly useful not just in antivenoms but also in a number of healing potions and certain magical cosmetics.

NameFalak
Physical DescriptionFalak generally keep to themselves and most do not grow more than a yard or two in length. Preying happily on whatever food they can hunt they breed rarely, producing nests of five to ten eggs, of which 80% usually hatch and 40% survive to adulthood.
DispositionFalak are not terribly talkative serpents, and those which do speak have been noted to seem “jittery or nervous, y’know?” though its never specified why. Most magizoologists believe that this is simply a breed trait, rather like the paranoia of Knarls, though this is uncertain. XXXX.
A Brief HistoryA curious magical serpent from the Middle East, these serpents are very dangerous but, thankfully, generally stay in the tunnels they dig out of the earth. Not terribly large, they are nonetheless capable of growing to huge size if given enough food and water. The wixen versions of One Thousand and One Nights say that a truly huge Falak lives beneath the Earth’s crust, only refraining from devouring everything out of fear of the divine. While this myth is widely disregarded by most European and American magizoologists it is worth noting that Falak are evolutionary cousins to Magma Pythons and do have an immunity to flames as well as being well able to withstand great amounts of heat.
RarityUncommon.
Additional Information-

NameFaroese Mazvettas
Physical DescriptionReaching up to thirty feet long, this hybrid dragon is a mixture of its parents' breeds, to varying degrees. Scales range from brown to black, though the ridges on its back are always black. The tail ends in an arrow-shaped spike. Though yellow eyes are not uncommon, the preferred (and more often found) eye color is purple. The eggs are black, though sometimes waved or striped with other dark colors.
DispositionAggressive-- but males less so than females. While dragons cannot of course be trained, some of the dragons raised from birth are ... noticeably less aggressive towards humans. (that is, in terms of deaths and loss of limbs-- more of a bite-first, flame-second, than a flame-first, no questions).
A Brief HistoryLooking at four Faroese Mazvettas, it is obvious to tell that the dragon is a mix. The purple eyes and tail give one parent breed away as the Hebridean Black, and the lighter scales and similarity to a Hungarian Horntail read the other breed as a Norwegian Ridgeback (so does the dimorphisum in aggressiveness).

The Faroese Mazvettas breed sprung up into existence midway through the sixteenth century. While there might have been previous hybrids of the two species, rarely did they continue to exist and breed with each other past a generation or two. The MacFusty clan, while ferociously protective of their extremely dangerous Hebrideans, had on occasion let a Maenlarys help care, examine an egg, or (on the occasions when the two families married) let the Maenlarys care for a smaller, less aggressive dragon or so through the centuries. While the number was never large and the dragons were untimely looked over by the MacFustys, when the Maenlarys family left Rathlin, they'd brought a small population with them-- along with a MacFusty bride to help manage. As they settled in the Faroe Islands, they soon heard rumors of Ridgebacks on the mainland that flew over the sea.

They had a few dragons with them, and with sea-faring dragons, the idea was thought that even better dragons could be found. After several losses and finds, it was found that males were typically less aggressive than females and thus with the help of alcohol and sleeping potions, a few infant male Ridgebacks (and a few accidental females) were acquired (some legally) and efforts to cross-breed the two were started. Since the 1600s, Faroese Mazvettas have been spotted around the Island, and the Faroese Mazvettas with higher percentages of Ridgeback have been found flying over the seas. Faroese Mazvettas, are, of course, not purposefully bred anymore-- after the Warlocks' Convention of 1709, it just happened to be that he nearest dragons for them to breed with were Faroese Mazvettas. Though the Maenlarys never quite claimed how to breed a Faroese Mazvettas (they didn't want other families having them) it was obvious by asking others that there had been no Faroese Mazvettas before the Maenlarys, and thus it had to be bred by them. Eventually, it was found out that the dragon was crossbreed, and it soon became found out to dragonologists of what breeds. Due to their hybrid status (and that from time to time, traits of one of the ancestor breeds show up stronger than other traits), Faroese Mazvettas were not classified as one of the ten pure dragon breeds.

As the Maenlarys continued to climb to power and tend for their dragons, the dragons became ubiquitous with the Faroese Islands. Recently, as the Maenlarys family has had to flee and could not take all the dragons they had created and watched over, cousin-lines have continued to protect the dragons and protect others from them.
RarityRare in general. Not uncommon on the Faroese Islands, found on Rathlin Island in extremely small numbers (the latter as of very recently).
Additional InformationManaged by Maenlarys family.

NameGehl Salamander
Physical DescriptionCurious golden salamanders much loved as prey, these creatures are often kept by Alchemists due to their incredible ability to alchemise base metals in their diet into the gold of their skin and the golden slime they produce.
DispositionCurious, playful. XX.
A Brief HistoryGelh Salamanders are aboreal creatures, spending most of their lives in trees, only occasionally descending to soak themselves and remain hydrated. As descending carries with it the risk of being eaten by a Gorgopódaro or several, most Gelhs will wait for a quiet period or even nighttime before descending, and will further wait as long as possible in hope of rain.

Gelh Salamanders are - and have been for a long time - under close study by Goblins and Alchemists of various species due to their incredible ability to alchemise a certain portion of their diet into the gold of their skin and the gold particles in the slime they produce. Quite why they do this is unknown - it makes them terribly noticeable and thus easy for predators to target - and yet they continue to do it. Some have speculated that they were bred in order to do this. However, there are gaps enough in the record that this remains uncertain.
RarityUncommon, found mostly with magizoologists, in goblin-held banks, or in the offices of Alchemists.
Additional InformationThe Hogwarts Alchemy club have several. Younger members take care of them. Easy for registered Alchemists to have.

NameGirtablilu, also called the Luring Scorpion, Aqrabuamelu, and, rarely “Children of Campe”
Physical DescriptionLarge scorpionoid creatures with human-like foreparts which they use to lure in prey.
DispositionUnsurprisingly they are feared by many and while they can be approached and entreated for aid, their tendency towards deadliness and the mutual animosity between wixes and Girtablilu mean such alliances almost always soon sour. XXXXX.
A Brief HistoryGirtablilu can be quite kindly and conversational, if correctly approached, but are often considered to be far too intimidating. On some rare occasions the magical Ministries of the Near East and Egypt have been known to hire Girtablilu fighters to increase security in certain areas, but their uniquely obvious appearance makes their employment around muggles unwise.

Girtablilu are incredibly long lived, and have a fascinatingly long oral history, and much of the early magical culture in Mesopotamia, making them great repertoires of knowledge. However due to the Girtablilu’s aforementioned tendency to seem highly intimidating, they are not often approached to ask for help in recording such information.
RarityUncommon, usually staying in native ranges of the Middle East and North Africa.
Additional InformationCapable of human speech, though they possess a language of their own. Girtablilu tend to make their homes in mountains or abandoned settlements, and much prefer to be alone. On rare occasions they will take companionship, and work well in twos and threes, making fantastic group fighters.

NameHeartsnake / Corluber cordis
Physical DescriptionPale little magical snakes, Heartsnakes hatch from translucent eggs looking rather like albino cobras before developing into cream, pale-speckled, or pink pythonlike forms.
Disposition
Used solely for Medicinal purposes, must be administered by trainer Healers. XXX.
A Brief HistoryBizarre and beautiful creatures, Heartsnakes are one of an increasing number of recent developments in medical magic. While various spells have been developed by Indian and Near Eastern wixes, the Heartsnake was purportedly developed in accordance with secret diaries of the ancient wix Asclepius, a known Healer and Parselmouth, recorded in muggle records as the son of Zeus and a god in his own right. They can be swallowed by wixes suffering from any kind of heart disease - Heartsfail, Hearteater, Cor Cordis, Heart-Fragmenting Curse, even diseases and spells which affect the heart as a consequence of their main effect, such as the Hela Wasting Curse. Once swallowed, the Heartsnake will chew its way towards the heart, secreting healing slime in its wake to seal up any damage it causes, before alighting on the heart, wrapping around it, and devouring it while taking its place.

At first the sensation is described as a shortness of breath and a squeezing sensation in the chest, within hours though, these symptoms - and any from the disease or curse - have eased as the snake takes it’s place in the wix. Parselmouth healers can even communicate with the creature, checking for any signs of further internal damage and to know if the Heartsnake might need extraction and replacement - though they rarely do.

Heartsnakes were developed by an international group of experimental Healers working in concert with several Departments of Mysteries and equivalents, by breeding together a number of magical snakes. The healing Kebehwet was a key factor, while other aspects purportedly came from creatures such as the alchemical Viren Snake and the Cerastes, which can fold through itself. In these ways more malicious tendencies were tempered, and dangerous aspects were transformed into the healing secretions and sealing secretions which allow the snake, once folded and shaped, to replicate the chambers and vessels of the heart perfectly.
RarityFound only in hospitals, and the homes of highly-regarded and wealthy Healers.
Additional Information-

NameIaret Snakes
Physical DescriptionSimilar in size and shape to the Egyptian Cobra, or Asp, their ability to mould themselves into artwork - tattoos, statuary, jewellery - has long made them prized creatures to all.Naturally looking almost golden and of assorted precious and semi-precious materials, Iarets are prized by smugglers.
DispositionHigh venomous, loyal.
A Brief HistorySmall Iarets would often be asked to rest still on a Pharaoh’s crown by a Parselmouth priest or priestess. Iarets are highly venomous, a trait which has allowed them to kill many who threatened Pharaohs and others who interacted with them in the past. Indeed wixes attribute Cleopatra’s death not to a smuggle- in asp, but to the iaret on her crown, asked by the trapped witch to help her die, that she not be dragged through Rome in chains and defeat.
RarityUncommon in Egypt, rare outside. Usually found with wealthy families outside of native ranges, magizoologists, or in zoos.
Additional InformationIaret Venom is one of the most potent in the world, and Parselmouths with a Iaret loyal to them are expected by most Ministries to register themselves, and the serpent which has claimed them for their own, should a case of death by Iaret bite occur.

Occasionally an Egyptian wix may have a core of magically crystallised Iaret venom in their wand, though this is unusual, and usually makes for a potent, yet incredibly loyal, wand.

Mascots of the Akhmim Iarets.

NameIcelandic Magmacrest
Physical DescriptionThe eggs of Magmacrests are obsidian in appearance, with the foetal dragonet visible within as a shadowing shape, while hatchlings are a very pale pumice colour for about the first week. After this week they develop gradations of colour over their backs, rather like the rainbows of colour pumice can turn as it cools at different temperatures. As they age they darken in colour, from pumice, through basalt, to obsidian, with fully mature specimens developing brightly glowing, lava-orange markings around the edges and undersides of their scales, which are brightly shown during threat-displays. To muggles and even wixes this can look like a sudden lava flow, prompting them to flee, and leaving the dragons alone.
DispositionXXXXX. Sociable in a cat-like way to other Magmacrests, dangerous to humans and animals.
A Brief HistoryOften mistaken for lavaflow at a distance, Icelandic Magmacrests were known only to Icelandic mages for several centuries. Magmacrests only became known to general wixen public outside of Nordic countries in the 1800s.
RarityFound on Iceland, though certain Faroese Mazvettas have been known to carry Magmacrest in their genetic line.
Additional InformationA small dragon, found only on Iceland, the Magmacrest is known to incubate it’s eggs using the heat from Geysers and Volcanoes. Generally sociable in the manner of cats, the creatures usually mark out individual territories in extinct or dormant volcanoes, or in lava tubes, into which they carve their own tunnels and dens, by superheating and reshaping the rock with their breath and paws respectively. Individual tube sections appear to be considered almost private territory by Magmacrests, and entering the space without some significant indication of acceptance by the dragon in question is highly dangerous, while volcanic craters and natural lava tubes are considered open territory, where the dragons will socialise, travel in order to hunt, and seek mates.

Recent attempts by more adventurous dragonologists to study this particular breed have shown that, when given the opportunity, Magmacrests enjoy swimming in lava, but usually only briefly. This appears to be for two reasons: the first that they are likely to overheat if they remain in or near the lava too long, and the second that upon emerging from the lava they only have so long to remove it before it hardens, trapping them in a stony shell. Despite this, Magmacrests are fairly populous, feeding on bats, sheep, and occasionally Icelandic horses, being not particularly large themselves.

NameJathinix
Physical DescriptionJanthinix can come in a myriad colours, depending on the matrix out of which the Janthinites grew but all, regardless, can end up seeming almost mummified if taken away from the crystals which birthed them. The exception to this is Janthinix which hatch from the geode-eggs laid by other Janthinix - which reproduce asexually via parthenogenesis, needing no mates - which never seem to wither or mummify, though the stone-skins they “shed” can seem to as the magic of the snake leaves them.
DispositionXXXX.
A Brief HistoryA curious serpent found only in areas rich in magic, Janthinix serpents are hypnotic creatures with scales a similar colour to the stones of their habitat and bright, almost luminescently purple eyes. Believed to have manifested out of the magic stored in crystals, they are also sometimes called Geode Gorgites, as their mouths appear to be filled with crystals more than actual teeth. Regardless the bites of these snakes can be quite quite deadly, as their magic provides a mutating curse more than a venom, which cannot be treated with a bezoar or antitoxin, but must instead be treated as a curse, and can wither and desiccate veins in moments.

Largely found in deep caverns, Janthinix hatched from geodes are occasionally brought to the surface, though this is highly illegal. Any specimens found at the surface are immediately confiscated and taken to the relevant Department of Mysteries or equivalent, where the precise magic of these creatures is under a constant and on-going study.
RarityQuite uncommon, most specimens are obtained through the black marker.
Additional Information-

NameKebehwet
Physical DescriptionA cool blue-grey tinted viper.
DispositionX, the fangs are technically there. There have been no recorded Kehbehwet bites that have not been in complete self-defense.
A Brief HistoryA magical serpent found in the Nile of Egypt, Kebehwets are, despite their viper-like appearance, non-venomous, and have been known to wrap around the limbs of those injured or dying, to soothe their pain. This is allowed by way of the cool nature of Kebehwet skin, and by their curious ability to seep water when they wish too. Giving out too much water does weaken the creatures - it is all from water they have consumed - but sometimes they will let out some little water, when they wish to heal.

Generally Kebehwets live peacefully in the Nile, avoiding most creatures which might prey on them and usually also avoiding water. More than able to stay submerged for long hours, and often keeping to the reeds Kebehwets are rarely spotted, even by those magically inclined. Usually when they do wish to expose themselves it is for their own soothing properties, being curiously kind-hearted creatures, which much belies the usual beliefs regarding serpents. Indeed they are quite popular with Parselmouths for their peaceful nature, as their being completely non-threatening often eases those wary of those able to speak to snakes.
RarityUncommon in Egypt thanks to the difficulty of being found. Rare outside, usually with magizoologists or wealthy Healers.
Additional Information-

NameLamia
Physical DescriptionLamia snakes are known for their incredible beauty and ferocity. Their scales tend to be dark - usually green, blue, or almost black within these shades - and often slightly iridescent. It is believed their skin may even have slight entrancing magics in it, akin to Veela magic, as it is often hard to look away from the movement of a Lamia snake.
DispositionRelatively easy to domesticate. Often very vain, as snakes go, Lamias are some of the more social breeds of magical snake, and are known to be cousins to mundane cobras. Similarly venomous to the Cobra, their venom has a slight entrancing influence, like their scales, and can cause people to be easily influenced by patterns or movements. XXX.
A Brief HistoryNative to Southern Africa, they are known to share their territory with Boomslangs, although transplanted populations in Greece have likewise found ways to share territory with local snakes.

Relatively easy to domesticate, as serpents go, Lamia snakes are restricted creatures, and must be milked daily for their owner to retain their license. Lamia venom is often sold to Apothecaries, provided they have the required license, and can be used in more soothing variants of Elixir of Euphoria. Lamia skin, and the scales thereon have been used in wands before, and are usually excellent at soothing and entrancing magics, leading to them often ending up in the hands of therapists, counsellors, wixen mind healers and wixes who master glamour spells.
RarityUncommon
Additional Information-

NameLanugo
Physical DescriptionTiny, giraffe like creatures found in New Zealand and known for their incredibly soft and silky fur, which is sometimes used in robemaking, and especially on gloves,. Lanugos are not terribly large creatures, not much larger than the average housecat, but they have an incredible turn of speed and their hand-like feet allows them to climb much more nimbly than one might expect, which is a large part of how they have survived the introduction of new (and ofttimes invasive) species that came with colonisation.
DispositionFriendly, nimble, playful. XX.
A Brief HistorySome believe, looking at Lanugos, that they may be related to Eohippus, the dawn horse, from which modern horses evolved, but instead taking a much more divergent path in isolation in New Zealand.

Lanugos are foragers, eating any grasses, leaves and berries they can, being immune to most poisons after the age of three, due to the development of a bezoar embedded in the lining of their intestine. These bezoars cause them no trouble and are, in fact, beneficial, rendering them immune to the vast majority of mundane and magical poisons once they reach maturity. Generally these creatures are considered neither pets nor pests, just being wildlife which might occasionally wander into a wix’s garden. Should one try to stun them in order to remove them, however, their fur, interestingly enough, absorbs the magic, which is part of why their fur is so popular in robemaking, making for some unexpected protection.
RarityUncommon outside of New Zealand, found mostly in magical zoos. . .though there is a small band of Lanugo that escaped captivity in Wales.
Additional Information-

NameMagma Python
Physical DescriptionThe Magma Python has jewel-like eyes that are visible even as they sleep as their eyelids are in fact a layer of silica. Their nictitating membrane however is much like normal serpents.
DispositionXXX.
A Brief HistoryBelieved to be an African variant of Ashwinder, the Magma Python was first found by colonial at Mount Cameroon (the taller peak also called Fako, the volcano also called Mongo ma Ndemi) in the country of Cameroon. While usually it keeps its body temperature low enough that it does not burn plants it can and will cook food it constricts around, simply by its sheer body heat, making the snake popular for those in countries with cold winters.
RarityRelatively common, for snakes. More Magma pythons are bred in captivity than exist in the wild.
Additional InformationRibs from Magma Pythons are much prized in Cameroon, as wand cores to sell abroad and as protective charms, and one wix of Cameroon makes enough money to support their entire village from selling dead Magma Pythons.

Commonly purchased and used in cold countries.

NamePanthera Leo Ferrulis - Iron Lions
Physical DescriptionLiving metal lions-- or lions with all turned to metal.
DispositionShockingly easy to domesticate. As they have no need to eat and, once trained, obey orders given perfectly, they have, on occasion, been used as guard hounds, seated like sentinels down driveways and along paths ready to stop anyone they don’t recognise. XXX.
A Brief HistoryRare and believed to be part of an experiment by Roman Emperors to make their gladiatorial and beast fights more interesting. These lions are made of metal and are very hard to kill. Iron Lions breed twice a century and usually have one cub, only rarely producing twins. The cubs do need to eat and are best fed on iron filings and mercury, the latter of which the mother will secrete as mundane lionesses do milk.
RarityRare, usually found with purebloods of Roman or Italian descent, or in high-class magical zoos.
Additional Information-

NamePeruvian Shadowing Butterflies
Physical DescriptionA beautiful creature, this butterfly casts a heavy shadow and can make corners it settles in unnaturally dark.
DispositionX.
A Brief HistoryDiscovered by Europeans in the 1600s, though well-known to Native populations beforehand. The properties of the butterflies were used by the native population in warfare.
RarityExtremely common in Peru and surrounding countries, found in apothecaries aboard.
Additional InformationPowdered wings from this butterfly are believed to be the key active ingredient in Peruvian Darkness Powder, and are used in some Deep Sleep and Dreamless Sleep Potion formulas, as well as in some Calming Potions.

Oddly for a butterfly it is more commonly found flying at night, apparently preferring the dark, and some specimens can quite agitated in bright light, trying to get away. While not a common pet, some potioneers and Apothecaries keep large mesh cages of these butterflies, which tend to draw crowds of adoring children.

NamePricelstryke
Physical DescriptionBizarre dragon-mimicking and highly venomous snakes, Pricelstrykes are found throughout the Mediterranean and North Africa, with some unusual specimens found further north. Despite huge variance in appearance, Pricelstrykes can and do interbreed, suggesting no significant difference beyond the aesthetic. Pricelstrykes are usually around six inches long upon hatching from gold-veined eggs, with smooth heads, and rapidly grow to a foot in length as well as developing the draconic facial structure the species is known for. After that, their rate of growth slows, but especially old specimens have been known to reach three feet, with the longest known specimen being a five and a half foot long specimen.
DispositionXXX.
A Brief HistoryWell-beloved by clothiers and Alchemists alike, Pricelstrykes are prized and have been for centuries. Their existence is best-documented in Alchemial books.
RarityUncommon, found mostly in the Mediterranean and North African areas.
Additional InformationPricelstrykes, no matter their size, are often shockingly fast and strong, and their hides are resistant to magic. As a result, skins shed by domestic specimens are often sold to clothiers, who can cure the shed skin effectively and use it in making spell-resistant clothes. Further, though highly venomous their venom can, when gaseous be used to help prevent pests from attacking plants; thus it is often collected and sold to Potioneers, who use it to make magical pesticides. Lastly, the eggs of Pricelstrykes are often veined with gold and no one knows why or how. It does appear to be genuine gold, but the creatures eat barely any. The popular theory goes that some part of their digestive tract contains an alchemical interface permitting such transformation of ordinary materials into something else. Regardless, Pricelstryke eggs have become illegal to own, unless one is a licensed breeder (itself a rarity due to how venomous they are) due to the risk that such obsessive egg collection may endanger the creatures.

NameTannin (Hebrew) or Tunannu (Ugaritic)
Physical DescriptionLarge, serpentine, with a double-tail. Appears to look like a cross between a Eastern dragon and a crocodile, though is more the size of a dragon. Their tough hides resist most spells.
DispositionOften appearing in large groups, the beasts worked together, the sight of them often causing distress. Cunning and aggressive, they would be rated XXXXX in danger.
A Brief HistoryRecords of them have been found thousands of years back. About three thousand years back, many of them died in unexplained circumstances, leaving only weak ones living. Tannins, once territorial, became pack animals, often working together to overwhelm their prey and their human attackers.

Numbers of tannins took another sharp decline in around 500 CE, as mages discovered magical properties of spine bones, teeth, and the resistant properties of the hides. Now a protected beast.
RarityExtremely rare, all but extinct. Once found all over the Levant, now living protected in large rivers and lakes.
Additional Information-

Name
Shadow Being
Physical Description
Depending on how well fed it is, its form can change from a small black cloud the size of a small lint or a smoky humanoid figure. It can also change its form at will between the humanoid and the cloud, though 'at will' is a stretch considering its lack of a sense of self.
Disposition
It's an unintelligent sort of spirit without sense of self, though on occasion it can become territorial. It is not violent, however, and will only go as far as causing mischief. Muggles are terrified of them, since they cannot see them, and attribute the slamming of doors and flicking of light switches to be the acts of a malicious ghost rather than a disgruntled little spirit with personal space issues.
A Brief History
They've always been around, really, and their origins are unknown. Some think that they originate in places with a lot of concentrated leftover magic, such as Hogwarts and Diagon Alley, and others think that they're born from the remaining crumbs of magic in the bodies of witches and wizards after their deaths. The fact remains that they've always been around, everywhere. Usually, they're too small for anyone to notice them so its unknown wether they've always been around or were just never noted.
Rarity
Very common, especially in places like wizarding graveyards, old manors, and magical centres. Usually they keep to dark corners, much like boggarts, though they're usually smaller and easy confused with just a simple little shadow.
Additional Information
Their size varies depending on the amount of magical power they originated from and how much they've been capable of leeching away from magical folk since then. Most will not willingly let one attach to them and they're very easy to destroy, merely a lumos cast into its insides, but on the occasion that they are allowed to feed they will very slowly grow. It's unknown wether the amount of magic sucked away can at any time be harmful, no one has left them hold on long enough to find out.

NameVerdicobra
Physical DescriptionIn the summer Verdicobras are known to throw of the oxidation on their scales, becoming bright, coppery snakes, which use how their scales reflect light in their mating dances. Usually the snakes lay their eggs in semi-submerged burrows, and tend them until they hatch, and sometimes for a week after hatching. However after this point the hatchlings are expected to care for themselves, and tend to rapidly turn the same green-blue verdigris as the adult specimens around this point.
DispositionXXXX.
A Brief HistoryVaries by country.
RarityFound in highland lochs and mountain lakes, verdicobras have been found throughout Europe, South America, and Central Africa, for all of their rarity.
Additional InformationVerdicobra has a dangerous bite which can over-oxygenate one’s blood, causing the bitten individual to swell up and turn purple. This is done by a similar way to the verdigrised appearance of the snake, by the venom magically increasing the rate at which the copper and iron in one’s blood is oxygenated. However this is not it’s most magical trait, merely the most deadly and dangerous, for all the venom is used (in dilute quantities) in magical asthma medications.

NameViren snake
Physical DescriptionA small hooded green snake with thick smooth scales.
DispositionIntensely loyal to bonded children, intelligent. XXXX
A Brief HistoryA magical creation, created using Mandrake leaves, Heartfruit vines and an unsouled Serpent Homunculus, the Viren Snake is one which is, surprisingly, harmless. Usually created by concerned parents though the Viren Snake can produce venom once hatched a bonded to a wix, it will only use its paralysing venom in defence of their wix. Viren snakes bonds are near-impossible to break, and once they have been given a taste of the blood and skin of the wix they were made for their loyalty is unbreakable, only dissolving with their eventual death.
RarityRare, usually found with wealthy children who have influential families.
Additional InformationViren Snakes are great companions for lonely children, able to comprehend most human speech, and move the vine-hoods of their heads in a hypnotic manner, usually used to help their wix soothe to sleep, but also to hypnotise those that might do their wix harm. Highly illegal, due to the illegality of Heartfruit, some few ministries do allow the creation of Viren Snakes under carefully monitored circumstances. All wixen children with a Viren Snake are registered with the ICW until they turn seventeen - the point at which the snake naturally dissolves.

NameWoodland Elves
Physical DescriptionThere's not one single characteristic that can describe them other than otherworldly beautiful. Taller than most humans - even those considered above average - and of remarkable slimness, the woodland elves are move silently and elegantly, as if floating. As for colouring, it can come in the most diverse sorts of skin, hair and eye. There's an air about them, that marks them as something other than human. Beauty, grace, the gravity of the immortal. It's not something that can be pinpointed but it also cannot be ignored.
DispositionDeeply connected to nature and known elementals, the woodland elves are isolationists to the extreme, to the point that few know that they even exist. Wary and disdainful of humans, it's rare that they accept to make contact with outsiders. Highly prizing healing and abilities connected to the future and nature, their magic is different from wizards and witches - what of it isn't elemental is connected to long winded incantations in their language. They are also immortal - but it's possible to kill one. Sadly enough, most deaths occur when an elf wastes away of a broken heart.
A Brief HistoryNot much is known about where they come from, other than the fact that it's from the East, beyond the sea. A land of beauty and purity, still inhabited by the other elves - and a place where the woodland elves themselves will one day return. The reason why they came to the realms of mortals is uncertain, though it's speculated that a great disagreement happened between the rulers of the Land Beyond the Sea. In other stories, a great Shadow fell upon the land and forced them to flee, only to be defeated by their gods - allowing those who wished to return. Whatever the reason, some of the woodland elves stayed and founded a kingdom in the woods of Europe, hidden from eyes both muggle and magical by ancient enchantments brought from far away. Their cities are part of the forest, as are their lives, and it's impossible to separate them from their lands. They are a people rich in culture and art, giving great importance to philosophy and mystic arts.
RarityInhabiting just about every patch of woods in Europe, though actually finding them is nigh impossible.
Additional InformationThey are known by their deep wisdom and beautiful architecture.

MAGICAL OBJECT CREATIONS
LAST UPDATED: 27 MARCH 2019
NameAyelet Azoulay's mezuzah
AppearanceThree inches long, perhaps an inch in width. Painted rainbow, has a brown ש (letter shin) on it. Fixed to the right of the door of Ayelet's place. Usually somewhat hidden by shadows.
What It DoesIf one enters Ayelet's place without kissing it, or pressing two fingers to it (as is the traditional thing observant Jews do with mezuzot) an Anti-Intruder jinx activates, and nettle needles are sprayed at the person.
A Brief HistoryBecame popular after the 1950s, after a few years of debate if jinxes to harm could be put on an object that was supposed to be holy, would it violate Shabbat if it was set off. There were several years of debate, and it's still going on in places. At first, people charmed them individually.
RarityUncommon around the world, more common in larger cities. Might be found with more observant Jewish mages who have cause/reason to fear for their places-- be that because they're rich, don't live in great neighborhoods, made powerful enemies, or need to hide things they keep at home, and who have decided that they think it's worth sacrilege.
Additional InformationA mezuzah is a small parchment scroll upon which the Hebrew words of the Shema (holiest prayer) are handwritten by a scribe, enclosed in a decorative case. Mezuzah scrolls are rolled up and affixed to the doorposts of many Jewish homes, designating the home as Jewish. The more secular you get, the less likely you are to have one. It's typical to kiss the mezuzah as you enter a home, or touch it gently.

NameBlood of My Enemies
AppearanceThe item itself is just a red jewel-like stone, the color of red garnet or a ruby. Oval and roughly two centimeters long by one centimeter wide, it can be attached as a pendant or set into a choker.
What It DoesIn the simplest terms, it tracks people. All it needs is a single drop of blood on its surface and the wearer will be able to track that person, as well as their emotions at the time. A single touch to the surface will show the wearer what their mark is feeling, and the closer they are to the mark, the warmer the stone becomes. To stop the tracking spell, either a different mark must be chosen, the stone smashed, or the reversal incantation muttered (Finite Sequor).
A Brief HistoryNobody is really sure when this item came into existence, but it has long been considered a legend and myth by those who have not encountered it. It was frequently used by many private investigators, though it always disappeared for a time after their--often mysterious--deaths. Many have tried to recreate it, but all recreations fell short of what the legend could do. Most could only track, but couldn't sense emotions with any accuracy.
RarityExtremely rare. There is only one, and it is in the possession of Antonia Drago

NameCity Ring
AppearanceAvailable in goblin-forged gold, silver, pewter, and bronze, the top of the rings shifts and changes to near-exactly change into a miniaturized city from a bird's-eye-view. Heavy, due to the signs it must make.
What It DoesThere are fourteen types of City rings, half of Modern cities that still exist, and half of Ancient cities that do not. They are further subdivided into regions of the world-- North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Oceania. While somewhat useful as for sketching, the tops of the rings change into different cities every five or so minutes.
A Brief HistoryWhile the idea is not new-- mapmakers and geographers have previously helped ring-makers create miniature cities to help with homesickness for a traveler-- the constantly shifting cities are new. The idea was experimented with within recent years, and a handful spell inventors and metal charmers worked together for five years to create the City Rings. A conclusion was reached to set limits, otherwise it might be used for unsavory purposes.
RarityUncommon; fairly expensive
Additional InformationAttempting to break the shifting of the rings destroys them, and attempting to cast magnifying spells cause the landscapes to shrink into the base of the ring, to prevent from being used in attacks or espionage. Specialized rings of countries may be ordered, but they yield the same results. If a ring is purchased to merely reflect a city, it changes into different parts of the city throughout different moments in time.

Due to the nature of the ring, they cannot be worn where one might encounter Muggles.

NameThe Cursed Necklace of the Living Doll
AppearanceAppears to be a simple silver necklace with a green emerald charm.
What It DoesWhoever wears this necklace will find themselves paralyzed except for their eyes, and completely rendered mute and helpless, falling over as limp as a marionette with its strings cut. The necklace will not slide off it’s victim naturally, and will only come off when pulled off by someone other than the victim.
A Brief HistoryThere was once a witch named Orlaith Gaunt, who despite her proper pureblood upbringing found a muggleborn to be quite pretty. Ashamed of this feeling, she sought to punish the muggleborn for making her feel this way, and fashioned this necklace to punish her with. No one but Orlaith Gaunt knows what happened to the pretty muggleborn after that, and few would want to know. Afterwards she sold the design to a wizard in Knockturn Alley, who created several dozen such amulets. A few have been destroyed by the Ministry over the years, but some still remain in existence, including the original.
RarityRare, only a couple dozen in the world, can be found in Knockturn Alley but are quite expensive.
Additional Information-

NameThe Deathwatch
AppearanceAppears to be an ordinary black wrist watch at first glance, but instead of the usual clock there is a series of countdown timer that includes Years, Days, Hours, Minutes and Seconds.
What It DoesThis morbid curiosity is worn on the wrist like a watch, but instead of telling the time it measures how long the wearer has to live based solely on the health of the person at the moment. It adjusts itself to a wearer over time, and within a month will include the wearers usual habits into its calculations and adjust accordingly, giving an astoundingly accurate prediction. It does not take into account outside threats or accidents, obviously, though it will adjust to an emergency setting when seriously injured or poisoned to tell the person how long they have left if they do not get help now.
A Brief HistoryThis strange invention came from a rather morbid wizard from Germany with a fascination for his own death by the name of Argus Grimly, owner of Kurios Kreation. It is a rather unpopular product due to its morbid nature.
RarityUncommon, as they are a niche product one can only find in a couple shops in Knockturn Alley or bought by Owl Order from Germany directly from Kurios Kreation.
Additional InformationDoes not work with vampires, inferi or Horcrux makers.

NameEnsemble Locket
AppearanceIt looks like a simple silver locket with a silver chain. On the inside there are a series of runes and around a small symbol that looks like smiling lips.
What It DoesWhen taken off, it steals the voice of the person who took it off, preventing them from all forms of vocalized communication and rendering them mute. Those who wear it can speak in any of the voices taken, or even speak or sing in all the voices trapped within it at once. All voices return to their owners when the locket is opened, though the Locket can only be opened by a password chosen by its original owner while worn. Voices of those that died without their voice will remain even when the locket is opened.
A Brief HistoryThe concept of a voice stealing amulet is actually fairly old, but one clever witch by the name of Orlaith Gaunt invented the addition of being able to use the voices she stole. She used it to steal the beautiful voices of muggleborns and muggles that did not deserve to have such voices due to their low birth. It was later sold by the Gaunt family when their fortunes began to fade. Luckily, it’s password has been kept in memory since as “Purity”. It can still be found to be sold in Knockturn Alley, but is fairly expensive. It has been bought and sold many times, and has built up a lot of voices from those who are no longer around to get their voices back.
RarityOne of a Kind
Additional Information-

NameFace Stealing Mask
AppearanceThis object looks like a simple wooden mask, colored black and with a blank expression of a human face. There are no holes for the eyes or mouth, and it is completely solid. The inside of the mask appears to have mysterious runes in it.
What It DoesThis Dark Object was created to steal the face of a victim for use as a disguise. The first person to put on the mask will find their face gone, instead left without eyes, ears, mouth, nose or any other identifying feature of their face, just a blank bit of flesh on the facial area of their head. When a second person puts the mask on, they will find the stolen face has replaced their own. This can be reversed with the mask, and the stolen face can be returned by using the mask on the faceless person if that face is not currently being worn by someone else. When the face is either being worn by one wizard or returned to it's rightful owner, the mask is capable of claiming another face.
A Brief HistoryThis Dark Objects were used as a crude form of identity theft by Dark Witches and Wizards. Their Dark Nature made them highly illegal throughout the magical world. However, they fell out of favor even among the forces of Darkness when Polyjuice Potion rose into popularity as a preferable means of identity theft.
RarityThese masks are extremely rare, both for their illegality and their disuse over the last couple centuries. In Britain, one could only find them in a few Knockturn Alley shops, and they are quite expensive.
Additional InformationFaceless Victims are likely to die without their face returned due to the inability to acquire food or water while faceless. Strangely, they seem to be able to breath without their face though no one is quite sure how.

NameFairy Dust
AppearanceIridescent fine-grained powder
What It DoesA highly hallucinogenic drug, Fair Dust alters perception, thoughts, and feelings. Quick-acting and strong, the Fairy Dust can be taken plain for a high that dulls pain, mixed with powdered viper's-flesh for extreme hallucinations and highs, or ground with dried Arnica to produce terrors. Fairy dust is a highly addictive substance, and illegal in most countries. A staple in most crime dens, Fairy Dust is usually disguised with charcoal or pearl dust, which have little-to-no-impact on the substance's properties. Overexposure to Fairy Dust causes a slippage of sanity, skin discoloration that highly resembles the dust itself, and nail calcification.
A Brief HistoryIt is unknown what Potioneer or Herbologist mixed up Fairy Dust, though it has been known to the general wixen world for the past two decades as a dangerous drug. Unscrupulous mages have made fortunes producing and selling the drug, and it is known to near-all Departments of Intoxicating Substances.
RarityUncommon, unless you've got the money to pay for it, and the ability to keep it hidden.
Additional Information-

NameFinder’s Compass
AppearanceIt looks like a simple compass at first, though there is no “NSWE” on it, only the needle.
What It DoesThis compass points the one holding it to whatever they say they want to find, whether it’s a person, place or object. It can be used to point the way home when lost, or to help find missing objects. Things hidden under the Fidelius Charm are unfindable.
A Brief HistoryDespite the simple concept of this concept, it is a recent addition to the magical market and took off like crazy.
RarityCommon. They are as easy to find as Sneakoscopes or Rememberalls, and comparable in price. It would be easy to buy one in Diagon Alley. The cheaper they are, however, the more brittle the material and the charms will last longer on more expensive models.
Additional Information-

NameThe Greengrass Ring
AppearanceA slim gold band set with a single emerald.
What It DoesWell, that's the question, isn't it? No one is exactly sure. Rumour has it that if the wearer is in danger of their life, the ring will sense it and somehow save them. In reality, it was originally intended to fire flame at the attacker, but since the enchantment has grown weak over time, it would now produce little more than a few sparks.
A Brief HistoryThe ring was commissioned by Esmeralda Greengrass in 1792, as a wedding gift for her oldest daughter who was due to be married to a man whom she had never actually met. The marriage had been arranged by her husband, and she had had no say in the matter, but she feared that the man might turn out to be violent- and so she commissioned a ring which she promised her daughter would protect her, no matter what. As it happened, she was wrong. Her daughter didn't happen to be wearing the ring when she was attacked by bandits as she travelled to the wedding, and so it was returned to her parents... along with the girl's body. Ever since, it has been handed down to the Greengrass heiress, in the hope that it can someday do for them what it failed to do for its original owner.
RarityOne of a kind - the knowledge of the enchantment which was used on this ring no longer exists.
Additional Information-

NameMagical Rope
AppearanceMagical Rope looks merely like regular rope, though it tends to be silky soft like more high end mundane rope.
What It DoesMagical Rope is magically animated to obey its owners commands, and is also uncuttable by regular cutting objects and Severing Charms. It can only be cut by specially enchanted blades and darker magic capable of cutting or destruction.
A Brief HistoryMagical Rope became a common intention in the magical world, though it is thought that the Goblins invented it first for use in construction, though there is evidence of Ancient Egyptian Wizards having similarly enchanted ropes in the past.
RarityCommon, this rope can be bought in Diagon Alley and is not too expensive, though it is more costly then mundane rope.
Additional Information-

NameMoon Metal (Tungl Málmur)
AppearanceIt's a metal that looks like silver. It's light, very light, but yet harder than tempered steel. It shines like silver but it never tarnishes. It's found under the ice, strangely, and it shines in the dark.
What It DoesCan be polished like glass or made into weapons, armour or jewellery. Runes carved in it are more powerful and an alloy can be made of it that is only visible under moonlight or starlight. It's found under the ice, strangely, and it shines in the dark.
A Brief HistoryIt was found by the Haukdælir, of Árnesþing, whilst they were digging for the new cave system of the Clan. After a few experiments, they realised it was different and better than anything they had before and a mad rush to mine it began. The other clans soon caught up and, by the time they noticed the metal was everywhere in the territory, a pretty organised system was put in practise for commerce and export. The system was improved by the 14th century, when the goverment took over this part. The mining, however, remains under the purview of each clan.
RarityOnly found in Iceland
Additional Information-

NameMuggle World Bypassport
AppearanceLooks like a normal muggle passport on the outside, but on the inside the usual identification information is surrounded by a sequence of runes on the edge of the paper that seem to shift between a rainbow of colors.
What It DoesWhen this passport is opened, a muggle that looks at it will come to believe that all their questions about the person who owns the passport are answered, believe any claim of legality, identity or authority the witch or wizard passport owner claims and that they should leave the person alone to do whatever they were doing.
A Brief HistoryEver since the separation of the Mundane and Magical Worlds, wizard kind have struggled to keep up with the larger world, and one thing they have often struggled with is Muggle Identification. The Wizarding World is not quite so focused on paperwork as a proof of identity, and many do not like dealing with the Muggle World’s system of identification when they feel they do not need to. In 1955, a solution was invented in the form of this passport. At first, it was used solely by members of the ICW as a quick means of travelling internationally without issue. It than quickly became adopted by several wizarding governments, and in 1999, started to be issued to members of the wizarding public after an application and legally required class on how to not abuse it. But of course, once the Black Market got a hand in it, these tended to find their way in the hands of less scrupulous individuals, to the point that it is not uncommon since 2013 for even underage wizards and witches to get their hands on one and use it to sneak into a bar or other places they don’t belong. Some wizards and witches refuse to use them, however, and prefer to stick to a trusty confundus charm in a pinch, often because they think these are too muggle.
RarityCommon, though getting one legally is a length process, and can only be acquired through your local magical government, or illegally bought from a guy one might meet in places like Knockturn Alley.
Additional Information-

NameNerezza’s Night Nail Polish
AppearanceIt’s black nail polish. The bottle has the logo of the product.
What It DoesIt acts as a glossy black colored nail polish that, when applied, fast dries within a short time and turns one’s nails into glossy black color with a sharp pointed edge. They are actually very sharp, and can be used for violent purposes, making ones nails both darkly stylish and deadly! “Enchant your night and stay safe with Nerezza’s Night Nails! Can only be safely removed with Nerezza’s Patented Nail Polish Remover. Do not use Nerezza’s Night Nail Polish on anything but finger and toe nails. Or else.”
A Brief HistoryA witch named Nerezza invented and sells this niche product. Not a native product of Britain, though it is imported there.
RarityCommon, and can be found in Diagon Alley.
Additional Information-

NameNerezza’s Snake Oil Anti-Aging Skin Care Cream
AppearanceGreen and cream-like consistency. Sold in a bottle with a coiled snake on the front with the title of the product.
What It DoesRub the cream across the whole body and within minutes, one layer of skin sheds off into a single pile of skin, like a snake. New skin will have reduced wrinkles and imperfections as well as being generally healthier, and even gets rid of non-magical scars if you don’t have the time to have a nurse handle it for you!
A Brief HistoryNerezza has done it again! Now with real Snake Oil! Tired of seeing that old wrinkling face in the mirror? Have scars or unsightly blemishes on your skin? Then try Nerezza’s Snake Oil Anti-Aging Skin Care Cream! Shed that old, ugly skin and say hello to a fresh new you!
RarityUncommon, niche product which has never become very popular due to people considering the skin shedding part as rather creepy.
Additional InformationWarning: Do not use more than once a month, new skin will eventually stop growing and you will dissolve yourself! May attract snakes within the first week of application. Old skin will definitely attract snakes.

NameObservation Mirrors
AppearanceThey look simple or ornate mirrors, ranging in size from full standing mirrors to hand mirrors.
What It DoesAnyone can command the mirror to show them what, who or where they desire to look at presently, and it will show them exactly where they are. They were incredibly useful for spying and intelligence gathering. There is a rare charm that can make an area unviewable to such mirrors, and the Mirror also cannot find anyone or anywhere under the Fidelius Charm. Exactly one of these mirrors was also enchanted to be Unbreakable, the original Mirror of Grimhilde, while all others would lose all magical power upon breaking.
A Brief HistoryThese particular magic mirrors have a long history of use, dating back to ancient times. Powerful Wizards and Witches would enchant a mirror to observe things from afar with a rather complex charm. This became a favorite method of spying and intelligence gathering, though only those with great power and concentration could pull it off. Eventually, a clever dark witch by the name of Grimhilde in the Germanic regions of Europe crafted a mirror that could do all the work on it’s own, and all she had to do was tell it what, who or where she wanted to see within. After she died from other dark experiments, the mirror was passed on to her family. Her daughter was able to recreate the magic she used to make the mirror, and gave a few away. Eventually, there would be a few dozen such magic mirrors in the world, though always rare, and the secrets to making them again became lost. These mirrors range in size from hand mirrors to taller standing mirrors. They are illegal to own privately in Europe after the Great War, and many of the mirrors were smashed, though it is known that the original Mirror appeared to be unbreakable. The Unspeakables of the Department of Mysteries were able to create a defensive charm to prevent such mirrors form observing their department, though this defensive charm is scarcely known outside of the department. There are only a few such mirrors left in the world, and would be incredibly expensive in the black market. They are quite famous among muggles thanks to the muggle fairy tale of Snow White.
RarityVery Rare. They are both illegal to own in Britain and there is a very small number of them scattered throughout Europe. They are incredibly expensive on the rare occasion they wind up in the Black Market. Once in a blue moon, a shop owner in Knockturn Alley might get a hold of one, or a pureblood might find they inherited one from a distant relation.
Additional Information-

NamePrincess Slippers
AppearanceThese dainty slippers were based on the shoes from the Cinderella fairy tale, made of the purest glass with a two inch heel. They can be custom ordered in different colors, but are often found in their classic transparent form. Once owned, they shrink or grow to fit the foot but will not do so if they've been previously worn, and so only fit one owner.
What It DoesThese slippers offer the wearer the ability to dance most classic ballroom dances, though not in any professional capacity. They have been considered most useful for young girls still learning how to dance, though the occasional adult will purchase them.
A Brief HistoryPrincess Slippers came about in the 18th century, when the daughter of a wealthy cobbler had trouble learning to dance well enough for the rest of society. When other families inquired about them, he decided to make them available for purchase. Unfortunately, early models were prone to cracks and breaking, and would often cut the feet of the wearer. The shoes fell out of favor for a time after that, until their inventor came out with newer models that promised not to crack or break under pressure. They still aren't considered very popular, especially now that ballroom dancing has fallen out of favor, but are still found in some shops.
Rarity Uncommon. They aren't as common as they used to be, and are not the cheapest pair of shoes on the market, but can be found in Diagon Alley on occasion. Pairs of the original model are rare, however, and generally considered decoration given their fragility.
Additional Information-

NameSavhior Nail Polish

What It DoesDip a painted finger into your drink or food, and the color will change if there is any traces of love potions, confusing concoctions, Dizziness Draughts, sleeping potions, euphoria potions, Gregory's Unctuous Unction, and most Muggle drugs!
A Brief HistoryInvented within the past few years by a Muggle-born potions whiz, who saw advertisements in the Muggle world about Undercover Colors and got inspired.
RarityBeginning to grow easily available.

magical plant creations
last updated: 16 april 2019
NameCarevi Pogreb/ King’s Funeral
Physical DescriptionDistinct violet mushrooms no more than a few inches high
Native RangeMacedonia
UsesPoisons, witch hunts, hallucinogens
RarityUncommon
Additional InformationKnown as “цареви Погреб” in Macedonian, or King’s Funeral, these purple fungi are deadly - but only to those with magic. No one is quite sure as to why their poison is so specific but while muggle children can eat these mushrooms with ease, wixes must avoid them carefully. Even the spores can have powerful hallucinogenic effects, and while some wixen like to add some spores to any FairDust they take, they tend to be the addicts which die.

King’s Funeral mushrooms can be found growing whenever the weather allows, being quite a vigorous and persistent fungi, which has caused many deaths over the years. Easily identifiable by their distinct purple colour, Macedonian wixes train their children to spot the colour from a young age. Fortunately the mushroom seems to show little inclination to spread, and though farmed specimens have been found elsewhere in the world, it does not yet seem to grow naturally outside of Macedonia.

NameChimera's Joy
Physical DescriptionIt looks rather like ivy, though Chimera's Joy and Hippogriff's Joy diverge in slight ways from there. Chimera's Joy has slightly thicker stems and smaller leaves.Chimera's Joy gives off a crisp scent. Once broken off, both plants give off a milky latex.
Native RangeAegean Islands and Caucasus Mountain Range, two. . . quite different places.
UsesTo put it simply, it's used to hybridize any plants, no matter how different they might be. The ivy-like plant wraps around them, and shortly after, the hybrid springs from the stem. It can either grow from the plants themself, or be removed and planted in soil.

Once leaves are broken or stem is snapped, Chimera's Joy leaks what appears to be milk, however is a deadly toxin. With each hybridization of dangerous plants, the toxin grows in strength. Before being used to hybridize the toxins, the effects of an unused Chimera's Joy mimic a heart attack. Post-usage, the toxins from the plant's usage combine together, creating a variety of effects.
RarityChimera's Joy is extremely rare, and next-to-impossible to buy, as well as being illegal in many Asian and European countries. Both are delicate, requiring exact temperatures, sunlight, darkness, and soil minerals, adding further to their rarity.
Additional Information-

NameDeadly Katabasis
Physical DescriptionThe mushroom caps look rather typical of the kind, easily mistaken for a typical, nontoxic mushroom. Much more distinguishable is the stalk, green, mossy, and large, growing high into the air and twisting off. Few stalks ends in a mushroom cap, and not every cap thrusts itself off from a noticeable stem. Rather, the caps grow from smaller stems off the side of the large stalks.
Native RangeSouthern Europe
UsesHerbicidal and fungicidal potions
RarityUncommon
Additional InformationAn incredibly dangerous magical fungus, the Deadly Katabasis is capable of rapidly infecting humans when it spores, which it does so often. However, it’s spores can, if collected, be refined into an incredibly useful essence, which is a key ingredient in a number of herbicidal and fungicidal potions. Due to this, those magimycologists which grow this fungus will carefully seal their greenhouses and only enter when using Bubble-Head Charms or equivalents, in order to ensure they do not die while tending their mushrooms.

Deadly Katabasis spores cause the processes of the body to slow down and eventually shut down completely. Interestingly, like Carevi Pogreb, this toxicity is much exaggerated in those with magic, though where Carevi Pogreb has no effect on muggles, Deadly Katabasis can still kill in large enough quantities. By and large Deadly Katabasis will grow in any damp area, even if it gets a large amount of sunlight each day, and does prefer a relatively warm environment. Perhaps unsurprisingly, when it does kill someone, the fungus rapidly infests the corpse, requiring most individuals killed by the fungus to be cremated.

NameEnelysion Tree
Physical DescriptionEnelysion trees often look like stunted and rather bare Birch trees. Usually with odd markings on the trunks, which can resemble eyes, mouths, bats, and numerous other things, Enelysion trees are capable, through a magical means, to absorb large amounts of metal through their root systems, causing their xylem, and subsequently their timber, to take on a metallic appearance.
Native RangeEurasia, found also in North America
UsesMetalcharming, woodworks, wandwood
RarityUncommon
Additional InformationEnelysion Trees gather static electricity, and electrical build up through an unknown magical means, which they are known to release when they are overloaded or during a large enough storm. This energy is usually released as lightning and it is inadvisable to be near such a specimen when it is ready to release the energy.

Enelysion trees are rarely cut down, though those which do are usually incredibly hard to cut. Older specimens often have to be felled by magic, and some have cores of pure iron, with some strands of copper. It is believed that the tree somehow used the large amounts of metal and electricity in them to create a magically induced form of electrolysis to do this. Enelysion tree wood is rarely used, though it should never be given a Thunderbird core. Wands of Enelysion wood are very rare however, due to the intensity of effort required in their making.

NameFlint Moss
Physical DescriptionMoss with with strands of fire (i’m awful at descriptions, if you have a better one in mind after seeing them. . .)
Native RangeEurasia
UsesPoisons, potions to induce fevers
RarityCommon
Additional InformationCalled by a multitude of names (including, but not limited to Firemoss, Matchmoss and Beacon Moss), it is nonetheless generally listed in textbooks, Herbals and journals as Flint Moss, for it’s tendency to spontaneously combust into slow-burning fires which are exceedingly hard to extinguish. These fires are used to clear the ground, and to spread spores far on the smoke, helping the plant reproduce. In part due to this they have evolved a symbiotic relationship with the Firecap mushrooms, with the moss providing the flames which both use to reproduce, only aided by the mushroom’s ability to keep the flames at a sustainable level, that the surrounding environment is not destroyed by the flames.

Flint Moss has thus been used in poisons, alongside the fuel-venom of Firebreathing dragons, as well as in potions used to induce fevers, when nothing else will drive out the infection. Despite many attempts to regulate the moss it is unfortunately incredibly common in the wild, and only usually discernible from other mosses at two times: in the instants before combusting, and at the moment of true twilight, when the angle and amount of light illuminates the moss.

NameHeartfruit
Physical DescriptionFor the first month a heartfruit plant is almost completely indistinguishable from any other plant of its variety, but as time goes on it starts to grow fleshy and animal-like parts - bones inside and from branches, fruit being replaced by hearts and eyes and similar. Usually before the plant is a year old it is incinerated by its maker, either to hide the plants’ nature, or to ensure there is no evidence for whatever the deadly heartfruit were used for.
Native RangeMagically created, no native range
UsesPotions, wandwood.
RarityExtremely rare, found with Herbologists and Dark mages only, usually individuals who are both.
Additional InformationA magical creation, the heartfruit is a dangerous thing. Made by taking the freshly cut heart or a cow, pig, deer, human or similarly sized creature, and filling the atria with plant seeds at the new moon and planting it, it creates a dangerously poisonous plant which reaches full growth in the time between the new and full moon. On reaching the full moon the heartfruit plant finally produces edible parts, all of which look, smell, and taste precisely like the natural plant, but are dangerously deadly.

Heartfruit leaves and branches are not so deadly as the fruit, and can be used in potions, the leaves adding a considerable potency to any brew, and the bark simply ensuring it lasts longer once bottled. The branches, where the seeds given were of a larger, woody plant, can be used to make wands, but as the practice of making heartfruit is one long banned, any such wands are usually inherited, or were made long, long ago.

NameHippogriff's Joy
Physical DescriptionIt looks rather like ivy, though Chimera's Joy and Hippogriff's Joy diverge in slight ways from there. Hippogriff's Joy has thinner stems, a paler color, and is more delicate. Hippogriff's Joy gives off a more earthy sort of scent.

Hippogriff's Joy, however, has been bred down enough to remove all toxins from the plant itself, leaving it far more fragile. It cannot be used to hybridize together anything more dangerous than edible plants, and even at times, has been known to fail if used to grow too much asparagus, rhubarb, or tomatoes. Hippogriff's Joy is often used to grow plants for food, or for decoration.
RarityHippogriff's Joy is uncommon, but usually found on magical farms. Both are delicate, requiring exact temperatures, sunlight, darkness, and soil minerals, adding further to their rarity.
Additional Information-

NameKthonia/Aidoneus
Physical DescriptionA magical variety of Pomegranate, the Kthonia or Aidoneus cultivar is known for it’s ability to induce deep, distinctly magical, sleep in those who eat of it. Known for it’s dark red, sometimes purple, outer skin and it’s rich pink inner skin, with the seeds themselves surrounded by a rich burgundy red pulp, the cultivar is difficult to grow, preferring sandy and sometimes rocky soils, in well shaded areas. The cultivar has even been found growing just within caves, surviving on the meagre sunlight it might get once a day, and several magical families currently use such cave-greenhouses, growing fungi deeper within the cave, and the Aidoneus Pomegranate near the mouth.
Native RangeMediterranean area, though it grows well in greenhouses
UsesWhile Pomegranates ( both their pulp and their juice) can be used in potions, the Kthonia cultivar should only be used in very specific potions. Most usually it is used in Dreamless Sleep Draughts, in place of Sopophorous Beans and other ingredients likely to cause bad allergic reactions. Often the inclusion of this particular cultivar gives a potion a richer, more reddish colour, and an almost florally sweet flavour, mingling the usually ingredient of lavender, with the unusual sweetness of this particular cultivar.
RarityUncommon
Additional InformationThe fruit is known for an unusually sweet taste, making it a prized food by some magical families, who consider using the cultivar as food to be a perfect expression of extravagance, by using so prized a potion ingredient as a foodstuff instead.

NameYggdrasil Trees
Physical DescriptionSimilar to immense ash trees, Yggdrasil trees are known for swift growth and the immense sizes they reach.
Native RangeScandinavia and Nordic countries
UsesHousing, woodwork, wands
RarityCommon enough in Northern European countries, rare outside.
Additional InformationImmensely - some say unnaturally tall - trees, Yggdrasil trees are known for their swift growth, and eventual huge size. Distant cousins to Ash trees, Yggdrasils grow rapidly to a great size, at which point they cease growth. It is not uncommon for these trees, once full grown, to be hollowed out for use as housing.

Yggrasils are exceedingly rare in the modern day, and require great reserves of magic and nutrients in the soil to grow. The wood of Yggdrasil trees can be used for numerous purposes, construction, furniture and many others, and when Yggdrasils are carved out the timber inside is often used to furnish the structure. However there is usually a vast amount of excess, which can be found furnishing many an older wixen home, and there are a very few Yggdrasil wood wands.

Wands of Yggdrasil wood are uncommon, and hard to master. While they share many properties with Ash they are also able to cast extremely long lasting enchantments, and should never be bonded to a dragon core.

Discipline
Discipline Name: Dream Weaving | зүүд зүүдлэв
Origin: Mongolian Steppes, pre-13th Century
Theory:

Dream Weaving is an ancient art traditionally found in most nomadic Mongolian tribes and hordes.

Sub-Disciplines: Memory Weaving, Mind Healing, Dream Catching, Mind Guiding, etc
Rarity: It is not uncommon for a single nomadic group or tribe to have two or three Mind Weavers. A master and a few disciples. However, while anybody can learn it, the talent to truly master the art appears only once or twice in a generation.
Any Additional Information: It's a very closely guarded secret, nearly impossible to learn as an outsider. The power this technique gives its learner is greatly coveted and its secrets are jealously protected.

Discipline
Discipline Name: Smoke Arts | утааны урлаг
Origin: Mongolian Steppes, pre-13th Century
Theory:

The original, ancient ways of Mongolian spiritual shamanism are now known to most as the Smoke Arts, due to the fact that it is explicitly the section of said shamanism to deal with ceremonies.

Sub-Disciplines: (Human) Spirit Ceremonies, (Deistic) Spirit Ceremonies, Divination Ceremonies, Smoke Healing, Funerary Ceremonies, etc
Rarity: Every tripe and nomadic group has at least one person in charge of the smoke ceremonies, but anybody can learn to do it. Usually, the ones selected to learn are the ones with the greatest spiritual balance and respect for their ancestors and traditions. It is said that all that is necessary is an affinity for the skill.
Any Additional Information: They're considered sort of like spiritual leaders.

Discipline
Discipline Name: Shaman Healing | Бөөгийн эдгэрэлт
Origin: Mongolian Steppes, pre-13th Century
Theory:

Perhaps the most common of all traditional Mongolian disciplines, shamanistic healing is far less scientific than the western healing of their magical counterparts.

Sub-Disciplines: Physical therapy, acupuncture, chakra alignment, herbal arts, brewing, ceremonial healing, trauma treatment spells, illness treatment spells, maternity healing, fauna treatment.
Rarity: All members of a nomadic group must have at least basic knowledge of plants and emergency healing as they are constantly traveling. However, there is usually a small amount of half a dozen actual healers in every group.
Any Additional Information: Unlike completely clinical healing, shamanistic healing is still very spiritual and natural. It is not considered a science but rather an art and a sacred duty towards the tribe's wellbeing.

Note: all disciplines here are traditionally used only by those magical Mongolians that still live a traditionally nomadic lifestyle. Those who have become sedentary tend to have a much more formal and Western array of magical disciplines.
