Yelli took a breath, lacing her fingers together. The stranger was-- his French was far more natural than hers, a similar lilt to Lexi's. Maybe. She was still figuring out this language that she should be having an easier time with. She was from Barcelona, for God's sake. She might have learned Spanish instead of Catalan, but they were still Romance languages of neighboring countries. What was that joke she'd heard again? To learn French was to learn Italian and Spanish, subtract one, and add accent marks or something of the like? Half the language wasn't pronounced, and yes, there were mostly-silent alefs, at-times silent ayins, but those usually came with vowels when you were younger, and sh;va paired. You didn't need them when you were older, after all. they only took extra time to read, and you'd had it memorized for years now.

She'd really have to write Frères sometime soon. Frères was bothering her to visit, so surely some French lessons could be sunk in in the time they talked. She would direct the conversation away from Shiraz then, and hopefully-- no, Frères would ask if Yelli had had any boyfriends back in England she'd left heartbroken. She wouldn't be able to put her spinning head and lies and protection into a foreign tongue, one that she barely had mastery of, unlike the presumed man with her.

She gave him a glance, taking him in as the whole, rather than flicking her eyes over him. Tall, blonde curly hair, a rather square jaw, his features relatively fitting together like a face was supposed to. He had a face, really, that was it. Green eyes, a somewhat obvious nose. Not so cruel, though she could images the features twisting together to make it so. "It has," her French was stilted, her accent a mix of Hebrew and Castilian, "been successful in the past. The other month, and the week before that."

She must sound so petulant, or stubborn. She didn't know which was stronger, but if she tucked her tail between her legs-- no. That was unthinkable.
