I MAY NOT BE ABLE TO STOP THE DOWNPOUR BUT ILL ALWAYS BE THERE TO DANCE IN THE RAIN
@brennan
Arleigh was fairly certain she was doing the right thing and if she was not then Piper would just have to find some way in her heart to forgive her. Arleigh had the best of intentions in meeting with Brennan today and she was just trying to do something nice for her dear sister. Piper had done so much for her growing up, even taking her in after their parents had died, that Arleigh had always felt like she owed something to Piper. Not that Piper had ever made her feel that way but Arleigh had just always wished she could have a way to show her elder sister how grateful she had been for it all, after all, she was certain that taking in a teenager in the middle of her twenties had not been an easy task and she remembered Piper working hard and struggling a bit to make ends meet. Still, Piper always managed to make sure Arleigh had everything she needed and more, she never let her really see the struggle though Arleigh was quite perceptive for a young girl.

When it came to Jack, yes Arleigh had taken him on for a year, but in reality that had not been a difficult task to handle. Jack was certainly a fussy baby, but in retrospect, Arleigh knew that her sister would have given anything to have that first year with him that she was forced to miss out on, and Arleigh could hardly count that as repayment for the years Piper had been looking out for her. It was not even in the same ballpark, it was nothing in comparison to her sister's good deeds and Arleigh truly believed that somehow Piper was going to find happiness even if Arleigh had to work a little harder to make it happen. It wasn't that she believed that Brennan was going to be the one for Piper or anything she honestly did not know the guy well enough to say something like that, and she did not even know if this rekindled friendship would even lead to something more for her sister and Brennan but after seeing him she was at least certain that they should meet. She knew if his eyes just met hers one more time that there was a chance something could spark and Arleigh was all about chances these days. Arleigh listened as Brennan admitted he had always wondered about Piper and that he just never thought he would find her again and certainly not like this and Arleigh laughed "We Forresters are certainly unconventional". Arleigh could tell Brennan was nervous, but that was perfect because she knew that Piper would be too, Brennan asked if he should bring anything "no just bring yourself and it will be plenty, she is going to be so excited to see you" Arleigh said looking at him with sincerity in her eyes. She sighed looking down at her watch "oh no, I do have to go though, but promise you'll come?" she said as she got up from her seat and grabbed her purse, placing some money on the table.

[attr="class","textbodspec"]Brennan's mind was working overtime just trying to figure this whole thing out. Not even a month ago, he was moving to a new place--which was at the same time very familiar, because Brennan had been in Ireland for four years studying dragons. But that was all he had known as he had made the move, and Brennan had not been counting on finding much more of anything familiar in Ireland or any part of the United Kingdom. He had thought it would be a fresh start, just like every other place he had seen in the last decade of travelling around for his work. But now... now there was something else. Now there was Piper, and there was nothing--or no one--in the world that was more familiar to Brennan than his childhood best friend. Someone that he hadn't seen in so long that it almost didn't seem real that she was actually... here. But it definitely made sense and Brennan was beating himself up for not thinking of it sooner.

The next thought in his mind was that she was a No-Maj-born, a muggleborn, and anywhere else that would not have meant much. But here, it meant more than Brennan could have ever imagined. It meant that she had been alone and treated horribly for so long... and he hadn't been there. Of course, Brennan knew that he had no control over that. That there was no way he could have known about her or much of anything going on, and there had only been so much that he could have done to help her. Even now, Brennan wasn't sure he could do all that much--but Arleigh seemed to think otherwise. And he would have to admit that that was a bit of a confidence boost, because it made Brennan feel like he could actually make up for all of that time that he hadn't been around. As much as he had no control over that, he suddenly felt very responsible about it. Brennan had always been like that, though, when it came to the people that he cared about, and Piper had always been someone that he had cared about a lot.

Brennan laughed lightly at Arleigh's reply and nodded. This... this was a good idea, he knew that. A great idea, but Brennan would be lying if he said he was doing it entirely for Piper. Because that was definitely part of it, but a deeper place in his heart knew that there was more to it. He missed her, and he had lost out on so much over the years... Brennan just wanted to know she was all right. To see how she was doing, both for her sake and his peace of mind. And, if nothing else, to make up for all of that lost time. All of the missed opportunities to see her again. "All right. I... definitely hope so," Brennan said. He nodded with a small smile on his face as he answered, "I'll be there, for sure. See you around, Arleigh."
