[attr="class","textbodmungo"]Anna felt like... half a person. And it was eating at her, the guilt that she could ever have a thought like that just because she had lost her magic and the pain that she was feeling because, at the end of the day, being magic made up such a large part of her. She had been at incredible odds ever since leaving Pyxis. It hadn't set in that she had truly lost her magic, that it wasn't just a side effect of that horrible fever, until she had stepped foot out of Pyxis... and then promptly turned on her heel to go back inside and take the Floo. Because that was all she could do now. The only easy way for her to get around was by Floo, or Portkey if she planned ahead and set one up. But now, her commute from home to work and back would be entirely by Floo... and work was yet another thing that made her stomach turn when she thought about it. Merlin, returning back to St. Mungo's next week would be a nightmare. Without her magic, everything would be going at a snail's pace.

She was trying to look on the bright side of things though. At least she could go back to work, back to nursing. Something that she loved and was incredibly passionate about. It would distract her, hopefully, from the fact that she was no longer as whole as she once was. It would be good to return to St. Mungo's, as much as she was dreading it in that moment. Another part of her knew it would be tough though. Being back in a place that made her feel so happy and useful... only to find herself lacking the one thing that she had worked so hard on in the last few years. It was both something she was looking forward to and something she wished she could have put off until absolutely never. But that wasn't an option. Anna had her third of the rent to pay, and a good example to set, and a life to live... and chickening out was just not an option. If she couldn't get it together and go back to St. Mungo's, how could she expect Bee to go back to school once Lufkin re-opened, or Kase to stay positive through the cancelled Quidditch season? No, backing out of her responsibilities was simply not an option. Not now.

Anna had tried to go out yesterday, a day at the botanical gardens in Dorset. A place that usually put a smile on her face and one of her favourite reading spots. She had hoped it would settle her nerves a bit, but the Floo had only made her dizzy and then her encounter with Damion had left her... more worried about more things. About more people. Anna wondered if caring too much was going to get the best of her one of these days, but for now she couldn't find it in herself to stop. She remembered Damion from when she had been Head Girl. The friendly Gryffindor a year below her. And in recent years he had been the one to put a smile on Cole's face, a close friend of Anna's from her days in Ravenclaw and her time in Ravenclaw. But the Damion she had chanced upon yesterday... he was a shadow of his former self, if that. Something was wrong, and when things didn't fit, Anna could practically feel it in her bones.

That was why she had asked Cole out for lunch that day. She had opted for a place in Dublin, close to the apartment. Avoiding long-distance travel for as long as she could because it was honestly only a reminder of everything she was now missing from her life. She had gotten there early, ordered a basket of chips to share and a coffee for herself. She didn't think she could stomach a whole beer, nor did she think it would be a particularly bright idea. Her hands fidgeted as they wrapped around the hot steaming mug, waiting. Anna... well, she didn't want to pry. That was the worst of it. But she needed to talk to Cole. To see how she was. And as if to speak of the devil, the next thing she knew there was another person sliding into the booth she was at. Anna's head snapped up with a brief look of surprise, before it disappeared into a small, soft smile. "Cole, hey," she greeted with a small sigh. "It's nice to see you again."

The world had become quite different now than Cole could ever remember it being. There was a sullenness in the air that everyone felt but everyone was afraid to acknowledge, as if speaking about it would shred the little hope that remained. She had heard it from her family firsthand; Peter, Andrew, and her mother had all lost their magic. Peter was going absolutely bloody insane without his magic. He had never taken well to being ill, especially being a healer himself, so this whole situation was difficult for him to swallow. He hadn’t ever expected that Cole and her father would be the ones visiting all of them in Pyxis, mostly because they were most likely to be the ones in the hospital. It...truly was backwards, to say the least of things.

It wasn’t as if their family couldn’t function. Her mother was a Muggleborn, and she had had limited magic from registering anyway. Growing up a Muggle, she had taught them how to exist without magic. All of them knew how to cook and clean and build a fire without magic. Colemet figured it was making it much worse on her brothers because they were essentially out of luck at work. Peter knew that things would be running slow at St. Mungo’s for a while, and Andrew...well, an Obliviator couldn’t obliviate very well without magic. She could feel the dark heaviness that was around them because of it. Her mother was taking it in stride, and Colemet and her father were picking up the slack. Colemet almost felt a sense of survivor’s guilt from still having her magic… The reason she had it wasn’t a good one, and she wasn’t exactly keen to put it on display that she still had magic. Colemet had a bad feeling that if she and her pack weren’t careful, then things would quickly go awry for all of them. She knew Alex and the others were extremely careful, but it was still constantly in the back of her mind. She wondered how long it would take the masses to figure out that werewolves were immune, and if they were immune, then that would stir trouble for them. She could almost see the experiments that were long shut down be revived once again. Cole had seen the fury in Alex’s eyes when the notion had come up; it couldn’t happen again.

Colemet had been keeping it mostly to herself that she still had her magic, only telling those who were close to her. Of course she had told the pack when they figured out they all still had magic. She told Sophia, who knew what she was anyway, and she told a couple of the Order members because she knew they wanted to keep tabs on each other. She had told Anna too, because she was a good friend, but the fact that she had almost caused a knot to form in her stomach. She had seen Anna in the hospital… She knew how hard her friend was taking it. She figured Anna probably felt the same way as Peter - nearly useless in the hospital without magic. Peter said she had only come back to work recently, and she...wasn’t herself. When she had received the letter asking to go out, Cole had been relieved, but there seemed to be almost an urgent tone in the letter. She needed to find out what was going on.

Cole arrived at the restaurant about the time they set to meet in Dublin - close to Anna’s apartment, she had noted - and the hostess showed her where Anna was sat. She made her way over and slid into the opposite side of the booth and noticed that Anna almost looked taken aback by her presence. Colemet smiled at her. “Hey,” she said with a gentle smile. “You too. I hope I didn’t keep you waiting.” she set down her black bag beside her in the booth and looked intently at Anna. “How are you doing?” she asked with genuine curiosity and slight concern in her voice.
