So open it up and take a look.
Miranda had been a mistake. He knew that now, he’d been driven by lust and the chase but she never put out and when the chase had been over for them both, she’d decided she wasn’t interested any more and Karel hadn’t appreciated that, not in the slightest. He played people, very few dared play him because they knew what happened when they tried to double cross Karel Higgs and it wasn’t pretty. His ex had clearly become far too confident in the fact she was in a relationship with him and that she wouldn’t have to pay the price for screwing with him. But Karel wasn’t going to let that slide, call it petty but he was determined to make her realise that no one got away with trying to play him and maybe, just maybe she could pass the message on. It could be argued that he was far too arrogant, but it was a trait of his family. They weren’t a family that were to be screwed with. Under most circumstances, he wouldn’t waste his time with people like his ex but he couldn’t let people see that he was letting it pass; other people could get confident and he wouldn’t let people try to question what he could do.

Admittedly Karel knew he should probably be slightly more hesitant about the way he acted with people, the things he told them and did. But for some reason, the witch in front of him managed to slip through his fingers. Oralie had a similar upbringing and breeding as he did so he found it somewhat easier to trust her and open up to her than he would others. That wasn’t taking into consideration, the pair had always got on quite well, even before Miranda arrived on the scene. He felt like a fool though, seeing the blonde right now in front of him reminded him of all the far more attractive and worthy women that roamed the school halls. Why he hadn’t noticed just how outstanding she was before now, he’d never know but now that he was taking his time to fully admire her, he wanted to kick himself. The wizard didn’t want to get ahead of himself though. If things were going to continue going well tonight, he wasn’t going to ignore it and push her away. Oralie was… something else and he was going to enjoy every moment with her tonight, no matter what happened.

When Oralie shot down his admittedly bold remark about skipping the game, he felt a mixture of feelings. He found it alluring that she had turned him down (which was something, considering he was still pissed with Miranda for turning him down), not many people had done that, but the way that she hadn’t shot him down for good had him even more interested in her and his enthusiasm grew. He scowled slightly when she used his own words against him, Oralie had a point, he did want to get to know her better, but he was finding it more and more difficult to concentrate. A growl rumbled in his throat and his eyes glinted dangerously as she nipped at his lip and he found himself trying to keep her close to him. Karel automatically rested his hands on Oralie’s hips and tightened his grip ever so slightly when she slipped onto his lap, his throat was dry and he had no doubt that his tone of voice would betray his lust if he wasn’t careful and when she asked her question, he took a few moments to catch his voice and carefully think about his answer.

Karel had many things that he didn’t want her to know or anyone for that matter but he had agreed to be an open book, just like she had. "Something I don’t want you to know.” He repeated slowly. The wizard took a deep breath and tilted his head, "I constantly worry that I’m going to let my parents and uncle down.” He said after a few moments, it wasn’t something he was proud of or even talked about. He wasn’t even sure if his family knew that he felt that way and he certainly didn’t plan on telling them. But, despite that being perhaps his deepest secret he found himself wanting to admit it to Oralie. Clearing his throat, Karel shifted his gaze from the witch and began absent-mindedly running his hand along her thigh. "No one knows that.” He said quietly, annoyed by how serious their conversation had turned so quickly.

You'll find your first impression was mistook

Oralie had a lot of opinions about the relationship that Karel and Miranda had shared. For the most part, she kept those to herself. There had been snide remarks, of course, made to Rhea, but that was to be expected. She, Rhea, and Remy were inclined to gossip about others from time to time. Few could hold their attention for very long, but that was to be expected. Not everyone could be them.

But clearly the wizard had come to his senses, because they were here and Miranda was... wherever the girl was. Oralie could not understand what about the bint had caught Karel's attention in the first place. The other Slytherin was basically a prude. Oralie was fairly sure the girl was a virgin. And really, only losers were virgins by fifth year. Whatever, it wasn't her problem or really her business. Karel clearly had smartened up and opened his eyes to the possibilities that the school had.

This game they were playing now was so much more fun than the casual flirting they had exchanged leading up to this night. There had been a few times where she thought he might have kissed her in the past, but they were making up for that now.  She didn't want to waste the chance to learn about her house mate, but she was quite eager for the fun that would come when questions and answers were thrown aside for action. Teasing was so much fun, though. There were few things that Oralie enjoyed as much as being desired. She was a pampered witch who loved attention and validation. She was the Slughorn Princess, spoiled beyond measure. But no matter how much she had, she always wanted more. The witch was insatiable like that.

Her refusal to keep playing had been paired with a kiss that promised there would be more to come after the game. She didn't want him doubting that for even a second. Oralie could be a tease, but that wasn't her intention tonight. Or at least, it wasn't her only intention. She did really enjoy the wizard's reactions to the little things she was doing to him. It was so much fun to see the always composed Karel Higgs riled up.

She watched him with interest as he took the time to think out his answer to her question. Her arms slipped around his neck and delicate fingers brushed against the nape of his neck. Perfectly manicured nails swept over his skin and up through his blond hair. His answer was so honest. It struck deep into her. Her heart had a reaction to the fact that the wizard would be so genuine with her. She smiled at him, a softer expression than the lustful smirks she had been wearing. Oralie leaned forward, her forehead resting against his. "I'm sure that won't happen," she promised, believing that with certainty. She pressed her lips to his again, a lingering kiss this time. It wasn't lust driven, but something more, something deeper. The affection was an act of appreciation for the words he had given her. It was an act of intimacy to match the intimacy of the conversation.

Her lips moved gently against his for a long moment. When she broke away, Oralie did not move away from him. She stayed that close, lingering in the intimacy of the moment. It was new and different for her. She had never really shared something like this with another person. The wizards she had shagged in the past had been friends, but they had not really made any habit of actually talking much. It hadn't been about that. Things were obviously different with Karel. It should have scared her--and it would in hindsight, but this felt too good right now to worry about anything.

Being half Kopitar and half Higgs meant there was a lot resting on Karel’s shoulders in the area of names and status. The Kopitar family were known and respected in more than just the UK, he wore that name with pride but Higgs? Once it was respectable but his father had become so meek that it was almost shameful for him Karel to have to carry on that name. That wasn’t to say he didn’t care for his father. He just didn’t appreciate the way his father acted. Karel knew there must have been some sort of shift in things though, he knew his mother and he knew she would have never married someone so meek willed willingly. He wasn’t sure what it could have been or why and he didn’t care. He just wanted to not be ashamed to tell people who his father was and he especially didn’t want to have to pick up the pieces when he came of age, he was the only Higgs heir after all and if he was to carry on with a respectable name for any children he may have in the future there had to be some respect there that the family wasn’t mocked. Admittedly, the idea of marriage was a far away event, he hoped and he wanted to enjoy his freedom and the fact he’d be able to go from person to person when he felt like it. Of course, he knew his mother did that even though she was married, but he couldn’t really blame her. If he was ever to marry someone who he just didn’t fit with then he’d probably stray. His parents had said nothing about him ever having an arranged marriage though and he felt like he could have the pick of the litter for a wife, but he was very particular and a Pureblood, for example, was the only acceptable wife. He didn’t care about blood when he was just sleeping around, but marriage was different and he wanted to keep the Higgs bloodline as such.

Karel was glad that Miranda had shown just how frigid and worthless in a relationship she was, he didn’t want to have relationships that were based purely on how worthy they are, but it was a big part of what he needed, especially if things lasted. Oralie would be a worthy companion if he was looking for a relationship, but right now he wasn’t. Right now he wanted to satiate the lust that was swallowing him up. The way she looked at him, the way she just looked was enough to drive him wild and to make him lose the battle that was his raging teenage hormones. Maybe, if he satisfied himself. If he got to bite into the fruit that was Oralie Slughorn, he’d be able to regain composure. This game though, he regretted suggesting it because he didn’t think how hard it would be to keep his hands to himself for this long. There was something about her. Sure, there’d been the occasional want to kiss her, but he’d restrained himself. It had been whenever their conversations had turned somewhat flirtatious and he’d seen her in all kinds of different lights. But Oralie flirted with a lot of people and Karel knew that. He wasn’t going to make a move on her if she only wanted to flirt, he wasn’t one of those bastards who tried to take advantage of a girl. He enjoyed the flirting and nearly always reciprocated it, but he wasn’t going to act like her flirting was her definitely wanting more.

This game was something else though, he was doing something he’d never considered before and that was learning about Oralie, he wanted to learn about her. He didn’t do friends, but he was finding himself willing to open up to the possibility of being her friend. He already classed her more as a friend than anyone else, but they weren’t quite there yet. They were working on it though and maybe in some backwards way, sleeping together would get them to that stage of friendship, what else was there to learn about one another when you’d seen that person at their most vulnerable, their most intimate? Turning him down had wounded his pride ever so slightly but had just made his respect for Oralie grow, not many people stood up to him and if they did, he usually but them right but he didn’t mind Oralie, he respected her standing up to him, telling him no instead of giving him what he wanted. He admired her for it. Her kiss though had filled him with confidence, he was going to get exactly what he wanted, just when they both were unable to restrain themselves. Right now, he could pull her onto his lap and undress her, to give her what they both seemed to want. But she had his word that they’d play a game and learn more about each other and that was one thing Karel always did, no matter what. He kept his word… within reason.

Feeling her arms around his neck threw Karel off slightly, he was briefly distracted by her soft skin brushing across his, it sent a shiver through him and made the hairs on his arms stand up on end alongside a wave of goosebumps that decorated his body. Karel kept his gaze down when he felt Oralie shift closer to him and the feel of her forehead against his caused his gaze to briefly flicker up to look into those sparkling eyes. There was something new there now in the way she looked at him. Her lust had melted ever so slightly and the smile he gave her prompted a surprisingly genuine one of his own in return. “I have a lot to live up to, a lot to learn and a lot to redeem.” He said to her softly, ignoring for a moment that they were supposed to be playing a game. Karel knew he came across as arrogant, he did that deliberately. He needed that confidence to get places in life, no one needed to know that there were far more complex levels to him. He’d rather people looked to him as arrogant than reveal any vulnerability in his actions. A lesson he’d learnt from the Kopitar side of his family. They were all confident but they all had their weaknesses and motivations behind their actions, he may not know what they were. But he knew that they existed.

The second kiss that followed soothed Karel though and he automatically cupped her cheek in his hand, a surprisingly gently action for him. It was different this time and Karel noticed there was a whole new spark in the way his stomach knotted at the feeling of her kissing him so… tenderly. The tiniest of pouts flashed across Karel’s lips when Oralie pulled away, he’d been enjoying himself, enjoying the moment. It had been something different and had sparked a response that not even Miranda had when they had first kissed. Karel stole another kiss when she remained near to him. A playful smirk flashed across his lips and he lay on the sofa, pulling her down to lie on top of him but making sure to just rest his hands on her hips should she decide she wanted to sit back up. "It’s your turn. I’ve told you my fears… what are yours?”
