I've never felt this strong,
I'm invincible, how could this go wrong?
@caleb
It had been a long and incredibly stressful eight months but finally, her twins had decided to arrive. Violet had been born first at 5:03 that morning and then Iris had soon followed twenty minutes later, it had been exhausting and painful and Ruby had been terrified, but she’d had her best friend and ex there to soothe her. Ezekiel had stayed in the room until the time to push had actually arrived and much to the witches amusement, her brother had made a quick escape. Saying he was going to get coffee for the three of them and a snack for Ruby for afterwards. Ruby had been expecting Caleb to leave to, but as it was he’d stuck around.

Admittedly it had been bittersweet for the redhead, Walker should have been there with her but after he’d announced he wanted nothing to do with her or her daughters, her brother and two closest friends had stepped up to be the support she needed. She had asked Ezekiel to tell Walker when she’d gone into labour and her brother had grudgingly agreed but Ruby wasn’t holding her breath. She hoped he would have a change of heart, the girls were half him after all but she wasn’t sure, he seemed pretty set on wanting nothing to do with her or the girls and that bothered her greatly, but it is what it is. Her ex-husband had continuously accused her of cheating and ruined their relationship. She’d admit that maybe she hadn’t helped matters but she wasn’t going to cut off ties with her friend, they’d been through too much together to just walk away and their history was intense, she wasn’t going to just drop him.

Ruby was sat in the bed with Iris in her arms, the newborn's tiny hand was gripping tightly onto her finger, Hazel had disappeared to find Ezekiel and contact the people who she’d asked to be told about their arrival. Walker, Louise and Zachary. Hazel had been quick to agree and had left Ruby and Caleb alone with the girls. She ran her knuckle along Iris’ cheek, both girls had wispy auburn hair, a mix of her and their father. She smiled sadly then turned to Caleb, ”Thanks for sticking around Caleb, I know you probably had better things to do.” She finally said tiredly, ”Also, everything that happened probably wasn’t what you wanted to see…” She paused and gave a small laugh. ”Not until your own girlfriend and baby anyway.” She joked, looking away from him and resting her gaze on Violet who was asleep in the blonde’s arms. ”Uncle Caleb came through… thank you.” She smiled, kissing Iris’ forehead. ”At least Lorcan will have some playmates now when all three of them are older.” She mused, thinking to her brother’s son and she realised for the first time that she had no idea who was looking after her nephew and she made a note to ask her brother or Hazel, she assumed it would probably be Hazel’s grandparents, but she didn’t want to focus on that right now. She had to brace herself for the new path of crazy she was going to have to walk down.

Now that her daughters were here, everything was real and Ruby realised with a sinking feeling that she was going to be alone in raising her twins and she was terrified, she wanted to do right but she was only one woman, with one set of hands. She’d have to figure out some routine to balance caring for the twins both at the same time and one after the other. It was going to be an adventure though and Ruby despite feeling terrified and alone right now, knew she was going to be ready for it. She had her family and her friends standing by her after all. ”Some Valentine’s day this turned out to be already.” She laughed.

In the days leading up to this moment, Caleb had had some week already. He had been flying with Jaxon at the start of it and there was a possibility that he would be back on the team soon under some special circumstances but the verdict of that was still unknown. He had really appreciated Jaxon taking the time to seek him out first and then to speak the new owner of United. Of course, the real fun or the drama depending on who you asked started when Ruby’s water had broken the previous night and he had rushed her to St Mungo’s. It had been a feat but they had managed to arrive before the contractions started to come closer together. He had stuck close by her more and more in recent weeks. He wanted to make sure that she had someone nearby as the the time fo her to give birth drew closer. Caleb knew that Zeke would have done the same for his sister but he had his own son to look after and Lorcan being quiet young took some extra attention. Caleb was happy to be there for Ruby, he much preferred to cleaning floos and it was more enjoyable.

But he had witnessed something he could only describe as a miracle. He knew that phrase was overused when it came to women giving birth but it really. Even it had happened early in the morning. Well babies were unpredictable and they had no idea of timing. But the twins were here snow and he had been in awe of the strength that Ruby had displayed. He knew that she would argue otherwise but that was his opinion. The moment had been been something amazing to watch and he felt privileged that he had been there to witness it and even for Ruby to ask him to be there. He knew she would have wanted Walker there but the dick had made his choice and it was own fault he had made that choice. He had not been here to welcome two beautiful baby girls into the world but Caleb felt like the lucky one. He knew Ruby could possibly be freaking out with what lay ahead for her but he was going to be there for her.

Hazel had left them to go find Ezekiel and make calls and send owls that the girls were here and probably to check on Lorcan who was with her grandparents. He was sure they would have some questions on what was going on but from what the brunette had told him, they were very understanding people. Well they had to be when your son was on the run with his family. Caleb was happy in the moment because it allowed him to forget the situation he was in. He was an uncle now and he dared anyone to find another wizard whose was more prouder in the hospital right now. ”Don’t be silly, there is no place I would rather be” he smiled at her as he held one of the girls in is arms. She looked so tiny compared to the size of his arms but she was definitely worth the effort of being here. ”Yes, there were things I didn’t think I would be seeing this Valentines’ day but I’m happy to be here” the blonde wizard smiled at Ruby. He ignored her comment about him having his own girlfriend and baby one day because they both knew how he felt about everything. He went front looking at her to gazing at Violet. ”You would be so proud of your mum, she did amazing, she is amazing” he smiled as he glanced to Iris who was being held by her mum.

Caleb sat on the bed slowly as she didn’t want to wake up Violet. ”At least they are gauranteed flowers each year not their birthday now” He joked looking over at Ruby. They could grow up to resent the day but it was far too early to think about that now. The girls had everyone there to watched them grown and flourish and now doubt that Ruby would strive to provide the best for her daughters now.

I can see it all so clearly,
All I love so dearly.
Despite how tired Ruby was feeling, the redhead could stop staring down at the tiny humans she’d just brought into this world. Violet seemed to be contently nestled in Caleb’s eyes whilst Iris stared up at her mum. She was gripping Ruby’s finger tightly in her tiny hand and the redhead smiled tenderly, kissing her daughter’s forehead for what felt like the millionth time since she’d be born. She leaned over to kiss Violet’s cheek softly and the infant dribbled a little, causing the witch to laugh softly. "It still feels so surreal.” She said to Caleb, cocking her head to the side and sending her blue eyes up to the wizard’s and a sad smile passed her lips. "I know you don’t like him, but part of me still wishes Walker had been here too.” She sighed, looking troubled. That whole relationship had ended in disaster and even though Ruby had kept going for the girls, it was still difficult for her to stomach. It didn’t help that her relationship with Caleb seemed to be progressing and Ruby was both happy but also feeling guilty. She didn’t want Caleb to think she was using him, that wasn’t the case. But the duo had such a history that any time they were together (and both single) things just seemed to go back to how they used to be.

No matter how much anger and upset she felt towards Walker though, she was still so grateful. He’d given her these girls, these perfect tiny humans. Sure, he wasn’t the only one that could have provided her with that, but as she looked between the twins; she couldn’t imagine her life without them. They were her whole world now and no one and nothing was going to get in the way of how blessed she felt. A few weeks before she’d had the twins, Ruby had taken Hazel to aside and made a single request. She wanted her best friend to tell Walker when the twins had been born. She wasn’t holding her breath about Walker replying or even showing up, but one of the things Ruby prided herself on was her determination and stubbornness. Part of her hoped that if she kept pushing, she’d annoy Walker so much that he’d show up to start a fight and if he did? Well, he’d have to come to her to argue and wherever she was the girls were going to be. It was backwards, and somewhat masochistic, but if it meant that Walker just saw his daughter’s. Ruby would be happy.

Ruby was wondering how long she and Caleb had alone before Hazel or Ezekiel joined them again and even though they weren’t actually a couple, it was nice to just be alone with him and enjoy the twins. She’d asked him to be Godfather for a reason, maybe that had been the starting point in what had caused trouble between Ruby and Walker, but she trusted Caleb and she knew that he would dote on them the way he would any of his own children. Without even taking into consideration the fact they were exes. They were best friends and they’d been through so much together and this was just one of the many adventures that they were about to embark on together. If Walker wasn’t going to be in their girl's lives, at least Caleb could provide some sort of male figure in their life. Of course, they did have Ezekiel but he had his own son, his own family to focus on and she didn’t want to thrust two more babies upon her brother to be cared for. She knew Zeke would help her any way he could. But at the end of the day, he needed to prioritise Lorcan and Ruby knew that.

Laughing softly the witch shifted on the bed a little as Caleb sat beside her and looked between her twins tenderly. "I mean, at least this Valentine’s day was unique and memorable in a way that isn’t something like being proposed to.” She smirked. "And their names are very fitting as well.” She continued with another laugh when Caleb commented on the guarantee of flowers, bouncing Iris in her arms as she began to fuss slightly.
