"Darlin', I am the hero! I ain't just playin' pretend, now!"  He laughed, his drawled words fading into the warm sound.  Jaxon was grinning, too--which was no surprise.  The man could hardly keep himself from it anytime he was near Lilybelle.  She was far too pretty and good to keep himself from being all smiles when she was near.  Merlin, he missed her.  Every time he saw her was a painful reminder of how he'd been forced to let her go.  The werewolf still loved the veela--which was all the more reason why he should not have kept coming around.  He just couldn't help himself.

Jax watched at the beauty seemed to have a eureka moment.  It was such a pleasure to watch her work.  He could have done it for hours--just stood there and watched her--those bright eyes, all wide and sparkling.  The woman was some kind of goddess for sure.  Jaxon was enamored.  He always had been.  It wasn't just the veela allure either--but he sure was weak to that magic--it was her.  She was like sunshine and warmth and every good thing he could ever imagine all wrapped up in the most beautiful package.  It hurt his heart to look at her sometimes.

"I thank you sure are somethang else, Miss Lilybelle.  That's aw-wesome."  His accent really drug out his commentary.  Her name spanned a handful seconds--and left his lips with such affection, there was no denying his admiration for the veela.  "I ain't got no idea how you manage to draw like that.  That's so cool.  And the idea ain't nothing, if it ain't brilliant."  Jaxon wasn't creative.  Never had been.  He couldn't draw a straight line or a circle if his life depended on it.  Those were not the talents he had been blessed with.

"Of course, Caro," she assented with a teasing smile. "You wouldn't make a very good villain, after all," the veela commented with a poke to his shoulder. He was too kind, too loyal. And even if there were a single chance Jaxon wasn't as good a man as she knew him to be, he would still be the one she thought of as a hero. It wasn't as if he'd saved her, when they met she hadn't needed saving, but he'd been there, he'd stayed. Unlike so many before.

Or, well, she supposed, in a way, he had left. But when he was beside her laughing and feeling like warmth and home... she could easily ignore that. And when he left, then she wouldn't dwell on it, not when her heart hurt at the mere thought that... she hadn't been enough. Again. No, Jaxon was warm, he was safety and laughter and his presence filled the room the moment he walked in. That was what she thought on, because that was who he was.

The accent in his words made her stomach do a flip, his voice was so beautiful to her, so different from anyone else. Grinning brightly she looked back to her work, Jaxon's opinion had always mattered to her; he mattered to her. Her smile turned sweet as she watched Jaxon silently for a moment, she didn't think she would ever stop caring about him. "Grazie, amore. It's never hard to come up with ideas when you're around."
