Jaxon was finding himself at home among his PU teammates.  Not everyone had been happy to have a new face as their captain, but the contributions the seeker had made to turning their win-loss ratio around had helped the friendly extrovert begin to win them over.  He wasn't an overly bossy type either.  He left the harsher criticism to the coach and team owner, focusing his attentions on boosting moral and leading by example.  Jax was always the first to the pitch and the last to leave.  He never slacked off during practice--not for a minute.  He did drills with every position, showing them his skill and understanding of the sport instead of just expecting them to take his worth on faith.

Today, he had spent nearly all his time with the beaters and their reserves...and Merlin did his arms ache.  Fanny undoubtedly threw a mean punch with the way she swung that bat around seemingly effortlessly.  After practice, though, his attention was moving to another newcomer to Puddlemere.  The team had picked up @caleb after the boy graduated from Hogwarts a week or so before. A fellow badger, Jax found he liked Caleb upon meeting the younger wizard--and was looking forward to getting to know him a bit more.

Jax had asked Caleb to stick around after practice--invited him out for a drink and maybe a bite to eat. Just a lowkey, get-to-know each other kind of thing.  Jax wanted to be able to be something akin to a mentor for his younger players. He was far from old, but he had been in the league now for eight years.  That was quite a long time in professional athletics.  "You ready to get outta 'ere?" the country boy drawled as he exited the PU locker room and approached the blond.  Damp curls made his dark hair fall into even darker eyes. Jax never spent anytime on his hair. He was a wash and go kind of guy.  He didn't even know a drying charm to use on it. The damp mess was just left to do as it would until he trapped it underneath one of this snapbacks.
