Appearance and Personality
General Appearance: “The hottest damn thing on two legs.” Ahem. She’s not wrong, however. JJ stands at the tall end of average, 5’7”, made even taller when she wears heels--a not infrequent occurrence, but not something she does all the time. Medium to dark brown hair, depending on the lighting, and whiskey brown eyes. With high cheekbones and a square-ish face, she’s got all the makings of a beautiful woman. Her figure isn’t stick thin, and she’s proud of that, but it’s just the right amount of ‘meat’ on her bones to fill her out in all the right places. She carries herself with confidence, well aware that she’ll turn heads wherever she goes.
Sexual Orientation: Mostly women but sometimes men, Polyromantic
Skills: “Everything *winks*” She’s not entirely wrong about that either. JJ has an affinity for charming people, and also Charms. Transfiguration was always a piece of cake, as is baking a cake. Defensive and Martial magic were fun, and she picked them up pretty quick, though she struggled a bit with casting a patronus before she mastered it (it’s a tiger, if anyone was wondering). Potions wasn’t easy, but she was determined to do well and succeeded in that endeavor, so it’s not a natural skill, but still a skill. JJ hadn’t had much interest in flying, but she’d been passably good at school and took it as an elective for a few years before she figured out what she wanted to do for a career.
Weaknesses: “None.” She is wrong about that, however. JJ never liked creepy crawlies of any kind and won’t go near them, let alone squish them herself unless under extreme circumstances. Water has never been her friend, though she’ll brave the shallow end for a bit, deeper waters give her extreme anxiety and panic attacks. She needs to know what’s going on, surprises make her anxious, and the feeling of not knowing something sets her on edge. Guessing isn’t something she likes to do, and will avoid it at all costs. Supremely indecisive when presented with too many options, as she’s unsure what a choice might say about who she is and whether people will judge her for it. It’s not that she’s unsure of herself, but she’s very aware of how some things are perceived and there are some parts of herself she doesn’t want to tell people about. She has a sweet-tooth like none other.

Character History:
Jennifer June Mayberry, nicknamed JJ by family and friends alike, arrived three weeks early--she says it was to avoid sharing a birthday with her older brother, and I’m liable to believe her. Her birth was a highly celebrated event, being the first girl after a string of nine boys. As the only girl, she was pampered with anything she could want, where her brothers were often presented with hand-me-downs from the oldest until the youngest, JJ was always dressed in new clothes whenever possible. Not that they were a wealthy family, but they were well enough off that they didn’t have to worry about feeding, clothing, and gifting their ten children, which JJ considered just fine with her. She had little use for any of that ‘rich people’ nonsense, with their haughty manners and that ‘too good for you’ sniff they did, like she was some kind of street urchin. It was hard work for her parents to keep track of ten kids by themselves, and while they could afford the occasional babysitter, nannies were just a bit beyond their reach. So they did the best they could to keep an eye on all of them whenever they went out, enlisting the older ones into watching the younger ones. Still, it was all too easy for JJ to run off sometimes, and she’d gotten herself lost in Diagon Alley or the streets of London more than once.
JJ attended Hogwarts just like all her brothers, and like all her brothers, she was sorted into Ravenclaw with little fuss. However, she wasn’t the same kind of curious that her brothers were, more interested in exploring the world and learning by doing than what she could find in a book, and she could often be found on the grounds poking at something. She made friends quickly, though most of them were outside her House, which was fine. JJ liked variety. At one point in her third year, JJ ventured into the kitchens while waiting for a Hufflepuff friend and ended up staying to learn how to bake. When she returned home for the summer, she asked her mother to continue teaching her. And so it went, JJ would explore the grounds and do her schoolwork, then she’d sneak down to the kitchens in the evenings for baking lessons and bring any treats she made back to her dorm. It worked well for her, though it didn’t do anything to abate her sweet-tooth. Eventually, she started baking at home for her brothers and parents, often sending them off with a treat for their lunch at work during the summer months.
After she graduated, JJ was still unsure of what she wanted to do with her life, so she stayed at home and baked for her family while she tried to figure it out. Eventually her mother brought up her love and skill for baking, and suggested something in a bakery. JJ was a bit wary, skeptical about having a boss since she wasn’t much fond of being told what to do, but she figured it wouldn’t hurt to look into it. Opening her own bakery was tempting, but she wasn’t fond of math or of all the paperwork required for running a business, so she scrapped that idea pretty quick. A head baker would probably be her best fit, though she knew she might have to climb that ladder from the bottom. She’s worked at several bakeries and cafes, and none felt like a good fit until she found Piece of Cake, and there she’s been for several years.
In the summer of 2007, she was out hiking with friends when something came out of seemingly nowhere and bit her, then left her for dead. She lived, only because a frien managed to apply silver mixed with ditany to her wound while she was still unconcious, but she learned why the silver was important when the next full moon came around. Unfortunately, she’d been staying with one of her brothers and bit him before he managed to lock her in a room for the rest of the night. Since then, she’s been meticulous about taking the potion, and usually goes to the forest with her brother to weather the night.
Plots and Politics
What is your character’s stance on the recent takeover of the Ministry by Death Eaters? "No." That's all she'll say about it, so I guess she doesn't like it much.
Where did your character stand in the treatment of Death Eaters and their families under the late Minister Durant's rule? "Can we go back to that?"
How was your character and their family affected by the reign and death of Voldemort? Mostly not. Her brothers were at Hogwarts for it and she was a little second year when the Battle went down.

Other Relevant Family: Big families run in her family so she’s got loads of aunts and uncles and cousins but don’t expect her to remember all their names, not to mention all the nieces and nephews.
Family History:So it goes like this: James met Jordan at Hogwarts because they were in the same house and liked the same subjects, so it seemed like a good place to start a friendship. It progressed slowly from their first year, but they were practically attached at the hip long before their relationship turned romantic. By the time they graduated, they both knew they wanted a big family because James had only pleasant memories of his own experience with it and Jordan was an only child who had always wanted siblings. So they got married young, and found a flat for cheap while they saved their money for a bigger place more suited to a large family. They didn’t want to have to move around, and so figured it’d be best to get a big place to start with where their kids could grow up all together.
They found a seven bedroom house up for sale out in the country, plenty of lawn space for rambunctious kids to run around in. It needed a bit of work, but James was prepared to do whatever it took to make it their dream home. They’ve been there for more than forty years now, and their kids come and go often.
