Hermione Jean Potter (née Granger)
35 - Female - Muggleborn - 09/19/1979

Muggle Liaison Office

Appearance and Personality
General Appearance: She is 5’5” and has light skin. Her eyes are brown, and her hair is as well. Although it was incredibly bushy during school, she has figured out a spell to keep it tame without having to go through the work of the potion she used at the Yule ball. Although she was made fun of for her very large front teeth, they were shrunk by Madam Pomfrey in 1994 and now look normal, and also made it unnecessary for her to get braces, which was a plus as her parents had planned that.
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Skills: She has a very brilliant mind, which helps her being good at memorizing and knowing many spells. This helps her out of difficult situations often. She is an excellent planner, liking to think every detail through in case something goes wrong. Hermione is able to do whatever it takes when necessary, putting what is important over her own personal interests and wellbeing. She is also not afraid to stand up to people, or do something that is right that won’t necessarily make her well-liked. She excelled in all subjects at school, but in particular she was skilled at charms and arithmancy. She is skilled at dueling, and wandless magic. Although she is incredibly stubborn, she is very willing to forgive, which shows in the fact that she is a member of Dimitte.
Weaknesses: She still will not get on a broom. She also still thinks Divination is absolutely ridiculous. A weakness is that she will do anything for her friends and her family, and that level of loyalty and passion could be used against her. Sometimes she can get a bit obsessive over her current passions, and currently that would be Dimitte.
Positive Personality Traits: Ambitious, articulate, brave, brilliant, caring, clever, compassionate, dedicated, focused, hardworking, honest, intelligent, logical, loyal, outspoken, passionate, patient, reliable, resourceful, responsible, understanding
Negative Personality Traits: Argumentative, blunt, critical, intense, opinionated, strong-willed, stubborn, tactless, is not above threats, blackmail and coercion when it comes down to it (think, blackmailing Rita)
Hobbies and Interests: Reading, teaching herself new spells, attempting to create her own spells
Character History:
Hermione Granger was raised by both of her loving parents in the Muggle World until she received her Hogwarts letter. She had no idea about the magical world, and her parents were both dentists. However, she was excited and eager to begin Hogwarts after finding out about this world, and learned all of the spells in her spell books before she even set foot on the train. It was there that she met Harry Potter and Ron Weasley, though she also met Neville Longbottom and tried to help him find his toad. She was sorted into Gryffindor, but the Sorting Hat was in between Gryffindor and Ravenclaw.

At first, she really didn't have any friends in her house, but she was very good in classes, proving to be the best in each of them. She liked to please professors and help others learn, and this was another reason why it was difficult for her to make friends. She followed Harry and Ron out of Gryffindor Tower one night, which ended up with them being chased by Argus Filch and coming across Fluffy, a three-headed dog. But this was still not enough for friendship between the group. On Halloween, after hearing Ron insulting her and hiding in the bathroom for the evening, the trio confronted a mountain troll. Hermione covered for Ron and Harry, which helped them become friends. Many incidents happened throughout this first year at Hogwarts, bringing the group closer together, and concluding in their attempt to retrieve the Philosopher's Stone.

In her second year, she began to experience firsthand the prejudices that people had about Muggleborns. This was also the year that the Chamber of Secrets opened, and Hermione was able to successfully brew Polyjuice Potion when the trio was sure that it was Draco Malfoy behind everything going on. She unintentionally took cat hair and was transformed partially into a cat. She was in the hospital wings for weeks after the incident. Hermione eventually was the one to figure out what was in the chamber, and was petrified that day by the basilisk, though was eventually cured. Over that summer, she vacationed to France with her parents.

Hermione was given a Time-Turner in her third year in order to take all of the classes that she could. Sirius Black was on the loose and her differing opinions on what Harry should be doing to keep caused a rift between the friends, so she spent a lot of her time at Hagrid's trying to help him save Buckbeak, his Hippogriff that was being sentenced to death after an incident. This failed, however, and on the day that they went down to visit Hagrid, Hermione punched Draco Malfoy, but that was hardly the most dramatic incident of the night. They found out about Scabbers, the truth about Sirius Black, and had to use Hermione's Time Turner in order to save Sirius and Buckbeak, which ended up being successful.

Hermione spent much of her summer before fourth year at the Burrow, and also went to the Quidditch World Cup. Back at Hogwarts, once she found out about the house elves working there, she started S.P.E.W., which did not help her popularity. The Triwizard Tournament took place this year, and Hermione tried to help Harry as much as possible after his name had been drawn from the Cup. She was sure of his innocence in not being behind his name being illegally put in, while Ron did not. Hermione unknowingly caught the eye of Durmstrang Champion, Viktor Krum, and eventually asked Hermione to the Yule Ball, which she accepted. She received an unusual, for her, amount of attention to her appearance that evening, and had a great time until Ron was overcome with jealousy (though he probably didn't even realize it) and the two got into a fight.

Hermione was chosen as the "kidnap victim" for Krum in the Second Task, and was soon after the focus of several articles by Rita Skeeter. She uncovered that the woman was an unregistered Animagus and blackmailed her to stop reporting for a year. She was glad to have gotten revenge on her for all of the articles she had written this year, however Hermione also knew that there was a serious road ahead of them with Voldemort having returned.

Hermione spent most of her summer at 12 Grimmauld Place. She found out that she was named Gryffindor Prefect, along with Ron, and although she resumed some activism about her house-elf beliefs, she was not as into S.P.E.W. as she had been the year before. It was Hermione who realized that Dolores Umbridge had no plans to teach them anything, and decided that they needed a teacher of their own. With Harry and Ron, they formed Dumbledore's Army, where students were taught practical defensive spells. Hermione learned to cast a Patronus Charm, taking the form of an otter. When Dumbledore's Army was caught, it was Hermione's spellwork that allowed them to realize who had betrayed them, a Ravenclaw by the name of Marietta Edgecombe.

After taking their O.W.L.s, they had to go to the Department of Mysteries, since Harry had a vision of Sirius there. They had to sneak into Umbridge's office to get to the Floo, getting caught, though Hermione successfully lured her into the Forbidden Forest and the group headed to London. But it had been a trap and a battle ensued. Hermione was able to land spells on Death Eaters, though she was critically injured by a curse cast on her by Dolohov, though she recovered fully.

Sixth year at Hogwarts brought Hermione beginning to realize that she had romantic feelings for Ron. Her friendship with him certainly suffered that year, especially due to the fact that Ron began to date Lavender. Eventually, they did make up, after Ron had been poisoned, and she was glad when the pair broke up. Throughout the entire year, Hermione was unsure of claims that Harry continued to make that Draco Malfoy was now a Death Eater, but that proved to be correct when it resulted in him letting Death Eaters into the school and Dumbledore was killed. However, there was a battle in the astronomy tower, where Hermione fought but she remained safe because of the Felix Felicis that Harry had made her, Ron and Ginny drink.

After Dumbledore's funeral, Hermione, along with Ron, ignored Harry's protests and also agreed to forgo their seventh year to help for the hunt for the horcruxes they had been told about by Harry.

Hermione altered her parents' memories and sent them to Australia before leaving to hunt for horcruxes. This year was a very dramatic one, starting with the battle outside of 4 Privet Drive where Hermione flew on a Thestral with Kinglsey and had to fight off five Death Eaters. But she made it to the Burrow safely, where soon after the trio was visited by the new Minister, and Hermione was given The Tales of Beedle the Bard from Dumbledore's will.

After leaving the Burrow when being alerting by Kingsley's Patronus that the Ministry had fallen, Hermione disapparated herself, Ron and Harry away, though she soon after unknowingly triggered the Taboo curse placed on Voldemort's name and they had a very quick battle with two Death Eaters that tracked them down. Then, they stayed safely in 12 Grimmauld Place for quite some time while they figured out their next move.

They broke into the Ministry, successfully managing to get the Horcrux from Umbridge, who had unknowingly had it, though on their way back, Yaxley grabbed onto Hermione's arm and Disapparated with them, which meant they could not stay at Grimmauld Place any longer.

The group began to move around, but they had a lot of fights due to the negative energy within the Horcrux. Ron in particular was affected, accusing Hermione of choosing Harry over him when she refused to leave and he was just generally jealous over the pair's growing friendship and he left. She was very upset about their friend's departure, but they needed to move on with their mission. They went to Godric's Hollow, which ended up poorly due to Nagini attacking them at Bathilda Bagshot's house. But they managed to escape in time, and it was in the Forest of Dean that Ron found them again.

They learned about the Deathly Hallows, and had to escape Death Eaters again when Lovegood betrayed them due to Luna having been taken prisoner. But in the spring of 1998, they were taken prisoner and taken to Malfoy Manor, where Hermione was tortured by Bellatrix Lestrange. But even being tortured, she managed to come up with a fake story to explain away why Bellatrix was so panicked (which was that she had seen they had the Sword of Gryffindor). Eventually they escaped, with the help of Dobby.

Their next move was breaking into the Ministry, which took a lot of planning and ending up with another Horcrux in their possession. They finally returned to Hogwarts to attempt to locate the final horcrux. It was there that Hermione kissed Ron after he expressed concern over the house-elves and impending battle. Then, they were ambushed in the Room of Requirement by Draco Malfoy, Gregory Goyle, and Vincent Crabbe. The fighting continued after they had gotten out of the room, though there was a brief stop where Voldemort told them to hand over Harry. They didn't, but this was when they went to the Shrieking Shack and witnessed Nagini killing Snape under Voldemort's orders. While Hermione was comforting Ginny over the death of her brother, Harry went to the forest anyways.

The battle continued, and particularly Hermione fought Bellatrix alongside Ginny and Luna, though Molly stepped into finish her off. The battle ended with Voldemort dying, though everyone still felt the loss of their dead.

Although Hermione had had romantic feelings for Ron since she could hardly even remember, the relationship between them did not last long after the word. After only six months, they had decided that they were better off as friends. They still remained incredibly close, especially since she didn't want to leave him while he was still mourning his brother's death.

Without even really realizing it, Hermione found out that somewhere along the line (probably when together alone looking for horcruxes) she had begun to think of Harry as more than a friend and found out that he did feel the same way. The pair began to date in the beginning to 1999. Ron wasn't happy about it as first, even though he too realized that he and Hermione were better as friends; but he got over it eventually, and was happy for his friends.

The pair got married in 2000 and had their first child at the end of the year, a son by the name of Liam James Potter. Adaline Lily Potter followed, and finally their last child by the name of Deacon Percival Potter. They lived in 12 Grimmauld Place, and were constantly visited by Teddy Lupin, of course, along with many Weasleys. They still went over to the Burrow a lot, as well, as families continued to grow, and the group had family dinners often.

Hermione had gotten a job at the Ministry, specifically working for the Beast Division trying to argue for rights, particularly for werewolves. She was fired years later when Minister Durant cleaned out the department, which makes her incredibly distrustful of the man. She got a job instead in the Muggle Liaison Office, though she had contemplated leaving the Ministry altogether in lieu of taking a teaching position at Hogwarts. But she wanted to remain close to the Ministry to see what was going on there.

Although she was personally targeted by Death Eaters during the war, and was tortured by Bellatrix, Hermione has an above-average capability of forgiveness, which meant that she was very agitated and angry the more she noticed the very bad treatment of Death Eaters in their families. It was because of this that she joined Dimitte, fighting passionately for rights that she believed that everyone deserved to have. She is also still a member of the Order of the Phoenix, though that membership is more of a title now as there isn't currently a reason to do much for it; but they do still have the occasional meeting. She is getting more cautious as she realizes things are getting worse in the Wizarding world, and is working with Minerva McGonagall to try to get everything back on the right track.

Plots and Politics
Where does your character stand in the treatment of death eaters and their families? Even though Hermione was very personally affected and targeted by actions of Death Eaters, including being tortured by Bellatrix, she does think that the treatment of Death Eaters and their families are incredibly unjust, particularly their families, as they did not necessarily have any part in any illegal activities. She is in the group, Dimitte, and wants equality across the board. People should be punished for their crimes, but they shouldn't be treated like dirt--even if that was how they treated overs. Hermione doesn't believe that the Wizarding world should sink down to their level, which she believes they are well on their way to doing or being even worse.

How was your character and their family affected by the reign and death of Voldemort? Hermione was impacted by Voldemort's reign as Harry Potter's best friend. She helped him keep the dark wizard from getting the Philosopher's Stone, was petrified by the basalisk in her second year, was one of the few people that didn't doubt him for a second when he said the wizard had returned. She fought with him at the Department of Mysteries, left school to hunt for horcruxes... Obviously this is a lot for a teenager to do, particularly erasing her parents' memories of her. But the impact on her wasn't as important to her as being loyal to her friend and helping the Wizarding world. She was incredibly happy when it was over and that Harry had lived, and that she could go and restore her parents' memories.

Eric Granger and Sharon Willis met at university, both on the same career path. They both desired to be dentists, and it was having this in common that led them to want to get to know each other better. They began to date, and were married three years later. Both of them were very happy with their careers, passionate about dentistry, but they were even more thrilled when they found out that they were expecting a child. Their lives were very normal, really, for many years. They noticed that their daughter was a bit different, but brushed off any incident that occurred, as only a Muggle could. It was only when Hermione received her Hogwarts letter that everything really made sense to then.

They thought that it was a bit odd, simply because it was something that they were not used to. But over the years, they attempted to understand this world and were very proud of their daughter's success in it. They missed her while she was at school, as they were used to her being home, but they had each other and their dental practice to keep busy.

In 1997, they decided to go to Australia for a change in scenery. After all, it was a beautiful country and they had never been there before. They were very happy there for a year, finding it to be as lovely as they had expected it to be. In 1998, a young woman came to visit them, and it was then that their memories returned to them and they remembered that they had a daughter. Eric and Sharon returned to England.

They were very happy to get back to their normal lives, and were even happier when their daughter got together with Harry, as they always thought from what they heard about him that they were well matched. Both of them were ecstatic at their wedding, and Sharon was actually worse than Hermione when it came to the planning of the event, as Hermione had just wanted to keep it simple. As the years went on, Sharon and Eric happily became grandparents. They had little idea of the unrest growing in the magical world, as it wasn't something that Hermione liked to worry them about.

However, in late 2009, the family received horrible news. Eric found out that he had stage 4 pancreatic cancer, and more than likely would not survive the next eight months, let alone any longer. It was so far advanced that even the magical world couldn't help him, though that was obviously something that they couldn't do as separate worlds. Eric died in the middle of 2010, though his family had luckily been to visit him the night before and had been able to say goodbye.

After his death, Sharon was devastated, clearly, but managed the best she could and threw herself into her work. Being around her grandchildren, daughter, and son-in-law always helped as well. Now that more time is passing, Sharon is past her mourning and trying to live her life as normal as possible, though she still obviously misses her husband daily.
