We out here drippin' in finesse
It don't make no sense
Outfit Renny @stargirl
Affy wasn't gonna lie, she was pretty damn excited about Astrid coming over for dinner. It had been far too long since they had been able to spend any real time together, since they both always had something going on. Affy knew that Astrid was busy with work and with ballet and how she did both Affy would never know. She herself was working two jobs, running two businesses and taking care of her son. Adding in the insanity of finding out who Renny's father was, it just made her lose her mind. she felt like the largest liar in the world, but off to the Ministry she had gone and changed his name. No one knew yet about her finding out, she hadn't even told Kristina, because Astrid had been her friend longer and she wanted to tell her before anyone else.

She could cut all ties with the Grabrielli's now, and didn't have to blink an eye. She didn't have to even try and make it seem like she wanted them around and she didn't have to even explain. It was kind of great when she thought about it like this. She could move on with her life and know that those beautiful eyes that her son had, were Jaxon's. She was finishing the food she had cooked for herself and Astrid and took the plate from Renny, putting it in the sink. "Auntie Astrid will be here soon, go pick up your toys and I will put in a movie for you." She laughed as he put his hat back on and skipped away to do as she asked.

She couldn't believe how he was such a good boy, how big he was now. Two years old, she had no idea how it had happened so fast, but he was. She had charmed the balloons from his party to stay inflated since he liked playing with them still and she wasn't going to take those little things for granted. They would be up for the rest of the month and then she would get rid of them. He was so small when she had given birth to him, she had thought the worst of course, but he was fine, save for a little asthma, but that was controllable.  Putting the food on the table she grabbed some wine from the fridge and then put the movie in for her baby. Accepting the tight hug that he gave her before heading towards the door as she heard Astrid on the stairs."Well, hello gorgeous."

She didn’t do things subtly— that just wasn’t Astrid. She did things with glitter and pizzaz and grins, painted lips upturned and her heart pounding in her chest. If there was a stupid thought out there, she had probably thought it already, and plans were always stacked up tight on the weekends. There was a time where Affy would be able to join her for more than one of those things, when she would laugh and giggle and wouldn’t worry about what was going on in her life. She had always tried to usher her more mature friend out of her shell, even though it became exceedingly difficult as Renny grew older. So there were times where they struggled to make contact apart from sweet little coffee dates, and she always felt like she was missing out on things. It was horrible, really. After meeting Affy in a cake shop (after they both had had rough days) she felt like she had found someone who really clicked with her. They were different, but similar. Both had been given the short end of the stick, but she felt like Affy’s life had definitely been a lot more difficult. And they were working, they were living, they were surviving. She would always miss living with her, though she did enjoy her large ass manor that her cousin had decided she ought to live in. She was still waiting for the moment that Anne sent an owl asking her to vacate it, but for the time being it was all Astrid’s.

Astrid paused outside Affy’s new place, grinning to herself. Things were looking up for both of them. They were both doing well for themselves; she had been promoted, she had finally gotten Orion to pay attention to her, and she was living in a huge ass house. She wasn’t just scraping by. It was the first time she could say that— she wasn’t scraping by. She wanted to shout it from the tops of the city, wanted to drag Affy with her as they ran through the town. She was finally doing great. She had talked to her brother— which wasn’t a downer in itself, but it was… Something. It was definitely something. She had talked to her brother, and she hadn’t died, and that was yet another positive thing in her life. It was just one of those things. Life had gone wrong so often that she almost just expected everything to come flopping back down the moment that she felt happy about something. It was probably coming. She didn’t want to jinx it, but with her experiences… Well, it was definitely coming. She knew it. She tried not to seem overly eager as she rapped on her friends door, but then she realized that she literally didn’t care. It had been way too long since she had seen her last.

She started up the stairs only a moment after knocking; she knew that she was a tornado in her friends’ lives. She threw herself into things, laughing, giggling… Jumping up the stairs, she laughed brightly as she practically jumped into Affy’s arms. “Hey! How are you? I’ve missed you so much!” As she pulled back she toyed with the blonde’s hair, her grin still wide and wild. They couldn’t go this long without hanging out again, she was making sure of that. “Everytime I don’t see you you get like, ten times prettier. How is it possible?” She knew that she was likely seeming slightly intoxicated, but she was just that excited to see her friend.

Her Mum had always said when she was younger that sometimes Fate needed a push to help things along, and Affy had never once believed her, she had never once thought that it would be true, but that day in the bakery sitting there talking to Astrid had been the one that she had needed. Look at where she was now after all. She had never been known for her good life choices, and based on how things had been going in the last year… that wasn't likely to change really. Even when she tried to do things right she always seemed to fuff it up somehow. Perhaps that was the whole thing of it all, the point of her life. A reminder of others of what not to do.

Astrid had helped her more than words could express. and more than just helping her get out of such shitty situation, she had given her friendship and something that Affy could never have found anywhere else, herself. She had been lost for so long in this mess that had become her life and all she wanted was her son and to be happy. So that was what she was going to do. She was going to follow her joy and try her best to live without regrets, to live as if tomorrow didn't matter. It was dangerous and she knew this, she knew that she could lose her head, or her heart by doing this, but before too long she knew that things would level out, or she hoped that they would, rather.

Hugging Astrid to her she couldn't help but laugh along with her friend as they held tight to each other. "I've missed the arse off you!" She said before hearing her son squeal and come running towards them. "Because every time has been too long since you last saw me and you can't basque in my beauty when you aren't around!" She said before dramatically putting the back of her hand on her forehead and making an exaggerated sigh before laughing softly and picked up her son and shut the door behind them. "I hope you're hungry!"

They were an inseparable duo, queens of making mistakes and getting one another out of them. Thankfully, Astrid and Affy never once judged each other on their stupid mistakes, or else Astrid would have winded up friendless eons ago. They partied, they laughed... It had all started at the cake shop, and it hadn't been very long ago, but it had been a great start. When Astrid had met her, Affy had had her nerves about her and had seemed confused and stuffy and exasperated. She had managed to get her to let her hair down, she was there for babysitting duty...

She helped lead her towards something more fun, and Affy had calmed her down, slightly, and offered a few words of advice when she really needed it. Which was often, of course. They were their own little family, a constant as men rotated around them. Astrid rarely allowed people to stay for too long, feeling like they might forget about her, or they might find someone better. Affy had stayed.

Ironically, the constants in her life had names like stars.

She wondered if anyone else had noticed that.

"I've missed you more," she insisted, her lips splitting into a wild grin. "Too true, too true. I'll have to annoy you more and watch the progress.

With that said, Astrid flung her arms around the toddler, pressing kisses to Renny's cheek. "And there he is! The most handsome young man in the world! My favorite nephew! Have you missed me, too?" She was sure he did; she always remembered to bring him a chocolate frog. Well, that much was easy; it was her favorite candy.

She waved a piece of chocolate towards Renny, promising that he would get it after dinner. "Me? I'm always hungry."

She was tired, too, and couldn't wait to throw herself into a chair and let the chatter begin.

Some people had friends who were rich, some had friends who were famous, and some had friends who they had known for years, but Affy. She had a best friend who was not only a gorgeous blonde like herself, but she was also a ballerina and had more talent in her pinky than Affy could have ever dreamed of having. She wished she could have known Astrid all of her life. She wanted nothing more than to be more like her. They were helping each other and with every step that she took Affy got stronger, she liked to think that everything that they did together, every day that they spent together, every night out just brought them closer, her closer to where they needed to be going.

Nothing really made Affy perk up like one of these nights when she could just vedge out with the ballerina and ust remember for a little while that she was still a woman, a young woman and not just a mother and business owner. Sure her life looked amazing from the outside but everything would look better from the outside looking in.

Affy smiled as she watched her son and his Auntie and crossed her arms over herself. She hadn’t told her friend about any of her business plans but she loved the idea that she had. Plans were amazing thus far and she really hope to see things run out great. ”Your very spoiled nephew. “

”I hope so cause i made your favorite.”

They were happy messes that tripped through life, never quite making the right decision or choices. At least, it didn't bother Astrid. She was used to being stupid, making the wrong decisions. They had more fun that way. They had fun, and they were good at failing. That was all that mattered-- having fun, that is. She loved it. She enjoyed it. She was thrilled to be able to make her way through life and not know what was happening. Most people hated it, but Astrid... Well, she liked wandering through life without a clue. She had fun that way. She fell down, she got back up. Sure, her heart got broken. Who's didn't? She still was able to drink and party and have as much fun as she wanted.

At some point, she'd want stability. At some point. But not now. Now she wanted to run around like an idiot, laugh like she had just witnessed the funniest thing in the world. She wanted to drag everyone around with her so that they could get rid of the stick up their asses. Have fun, be free, be wild... She wanted Affy to just forget that she was a mother for a second. She knew that it was such a main focus for her friend, but she wanted her to forget. To breath. To put the precious little kid down for a second and realize that they were just so, so young. They hung out as often as they could, they texted as often as they could, and yet Astrid felt like her influence always wavered when she wasn't there.

Not that anyone always needed to be aware of who she was. "He's the perfect amount of spoiled," she informed Affy, grinning brightly as she ruffled the little kid's hair. "Ooh, did you?"

Astrid was the person who reminded Affy that she was still young. That her life did have meaning and that didn't mean that she had to be crazy and drink all the time, but she didn't have to act like her life was over and she as going to be a spinster because she had a child. Se just had to find what made er happy and what worked for her. She wished that they had met before this, and that Affy could have had time with Astrid before she got pregnant. Maybe then things might have been different, but that would mean that she wouldn't have her son, and he was her everything.

Her best friend in the world was a young woman who had nothing in common with her at first glance but they were more alike than people might assume, but their differences were what bonded them so closely together. She was a business owner, a mother, a young woman, and afraid, and usually in that order. She chose her life, chose to live this way and she knew that she couldn't always live like this, so she would have to focus more on herself and less on pleasing other people. Even though it hurt her to the bone to have to do it.

Giving Renny a sippy cup she watched as he went to sit and watch his cartoon as the opening came on and shook her head. "I did, indeed. Pasta with sauce and of course, some tea." She said with a laugh and moved into te kitchen towards the table. "It's about Renny's dad..."

If someone had asked Astrid what her role in Affy's life was, she probably would have laughed hysterically and claimed that she was "the bad influence". Of course, their relationship was so much more than that. They were best friends, they were practically sisters, and they were both just coasting through life. Neither of them had a clue, most of the time, and that was what made their relationship absolutely hysterical. They were both trying their best to have fun despite the circumstances. Affy had a kid, and Astrid was, in her own words, a royal fuck up. And they were doing their best, making their lives make sense... Of course, things still didn't make sense, especially with the two of them. But they were trying their hardest.

Drinking and partying, that was Astrid's forte. She was great at both of those things, and she liked to drag people into that world. Having fun was just as important as ballet-- and people usually could see that in her. It was at least helping Affy, who always took things so seriously. Ever since the moment that they met, at the cake shop, Astrid had felt a kinship with the girl. And she wanted to make sure that her friend had the right amount of happiness in her life. Because she was just so busy! Astrid could respect that, but she didn't want her to be overworked.

The main reason for Affy's business (and Astrid's favorite little tyke) waddled off to go watch his cartoon, and Astrid beamed as she heard what was for dinner. "Yay! Gimme those carbs," she exclaimed, her lips pulled into a wide grin. She hadn't eaten much, but that was more out of forgetting than anything. "What about? Is it something juicy?"

If there was one person who knew Affy best besides Kian it was gonna have to be Astrid. She met her in the perfect time and honestly, she had no idea what she would do without the woman. She reminded Affy all the time that she didn’t have to be superwoman all of the time, that she had people around her who loved her and wanted to help her. She wasn’t alone any more and it was the best feeling in the world really. She had some sort of wish that sooner or later she would be able to repay the woman for everything that she had done for Affy. She was a beautiful woman, and she had so much life and vibrance to her.

Maybe it was something about broken people, something about the way that they knew how the other was feeling and neither of them had to tell the other. Maybe it was something that never needed to be done, because Affy knew that she had saved Astrid just as much as Astrid had saved her. They were centered, they were better, and there was only one way to have gone from Rock Bottom. After all, she had been there and now she had an Inn and Pub. She had a purpose other than the Paisley Daisy. She had a reason to go on with her life, and not just fall into a mess when Al had left her.

It was something that helped her get up in the morning, something that she wanted to make better and better with each passing day. She wanted it to be something that she could be proud of and in truth, having a place that she could feel home in, when she wasn’t home, was the goal. She moved further into the kitchen and got them both food. ”Grab the wine for me?” She asked as she plated their food with a grin and a wink.

Sitting the plates on the table she got forks and glasses for them, and once she was settled, she looked at her friend. ”It’s not Chris….” She said rolling her eyes at the man’s name. The dreaded ex, and a right schmuck in her opinion. ”I was so wrong… so so wrong. You’re going to freak out when I tell you.” She said with a laugh before pouring them wine.

"You know that bloke we both think is hot from Puddlemere? Cole?"

She really was a low risk friend, someone who could mess around with no money and need no real plans. Astrid did ballet, so at least part of her life was planned out. But her free time was that: free. At the very least, she was able to come up with a few things to do with Affy, but they mainly involved drinking. And Astrid loved drinking almost as much as ballet-- it was why she worked at a club. It was fun, it was freeing... She wasn't an alcoholic by any means, but sometimes she felt like she was getting there with how much she did drink. But it was fun, and that was something that she needed. Ballet made her so high strung some days that partying was the better option to the other things.

Astrid had mainly given up smoking cigarettes, though she picked it up whenever the teachers looked at her the wrong way. And she smoked other things occasionally, but only when she was really sore. Apart from that, she had been mainly keeping to a pedestrian lifestyle. Ballet was one thing, everything else was a separate part. She was one of those few people that actually stuck to that thought-- the rest of them all just did ballet. And she appreciated that. At one point she had done that, too, but after the week she had had, Astrid was really needing some time apart from ballet.

Affy was always a nice break. They helped save each other from the stresses of life, and they made sure that they both got a breath of fresh air. Astrid followed her friend into the kitchen, practically bouncing with excitement. Pasta was definitely her favorite thing to eat. She took her plate with a dramatic bow and immediately began shoveling pasta down her throat the minute Affy gave her the fork. And then, politely, she got up and grabbed the wine like her friend asked. "Right, the wine, the wine..." She used the corkscrew and passed the wine over to Affy, watching as the wine was poured. "Yes! Every time he's on the cover of Witch Weekly I think I'm going to die."
