Summer was amazing. This was for two reasons. The first was that she was out of school, and the second being that she was going to be a seventh year when the term started. She had three months before she had to go back and she had so much planned. Family vacation with her sickeningly newlywed parents, a small vacation for her and Bash in August. It was going to be a great summer and she was enjoying it already. She had been laying out in the sun, she was now slightly sunkissed and glowing. Her hair, which she had braided that morning, hung over her shoulder and bounced as she walked.

Ice cream was her goal before going to her Uncle's shop. She had nothing big panned for the day so going along with family and seeing them while Bash was busy didn't seem like a bad thing. She loved her Uncle George. He was the least irritating out of  all of them and he didn't really judge her, though her son surely did. She still felt like she was going to be followed around by him at family events because she liked to not dress like a nun, but it seemed like nothing she did was going to be enough for half the family. She did what she liked and no matter how her father had been in the past he didn't try and make her fit into the box that the rest of the family did. He was a feminist and knew that she had the right to choose how her life would be. Which she knew was hypocritical of him considering how he had treated his sister when she was younger.

Opening the door to the parlor she smiled to the formerly scruffy man who was in the back room and waved to him. JD was a nice older guy who made the best stuff. "Two scoops of chocolate lovers trash please with cream and a cherry please." She looked to her right and saw a friend and   grinned. "Delia! "

This summer was proving to be a lot better than the previous summer had been. Last year she had spent nearly the entire time sulking in her room or putting herself to work as a volunteer of sorts. No one had asked her to do that, but she felt a sense of duty. Those poor muggleborns living in Kolna needed someone to help. They needed her to help. She had devoted the last months of her summer to working odd jobs to afford the supplies she and Jesse would sneak in and actually making time to visit with them. So many of her friends had been taken with the registration and she wanted to let them, neigh, let everyone who was taken know that someone out there cared. She had cared. And in the process she had made even more friends. People like Brooke who she hadn't really known before, she had gotten to know through Jesse there.

Delia found herself wondering about Brooke and the others. Where were they now? How were they doing? She had a lot of time to think today having had no plans other than to take a little cruise down the streets of Diagon Alley. She liked to visit it often in the summers, specifically the ice cream parlor. JD was a delightful man, or he at least seemed that way to her. He always invented the best flavors and she loved letting him surprise her with his own picks for her cone.

Delia walked in with the chime of the door to alert of her presence but she hadn't been paying much attention. She was rustling through her purse to find her wallet when she heard a familiar voice. The blonde popped her head up to see that just ahead of her was her good friend Terrianne. She beamed a warm smile at the girl as she greeted her. "Hey! Fancy seeing you here!" Just then she heard yet another chime and she turned to see who had come in behind her only for her smile to brighten further at the addition of yet another good friend. "Emily! Hey! Wow, what are the chances?" Delia looked between her two friends with a bit of delight. Her boring day had suddenly got much more interesting.

Summer in the city
Emily was relieved it was finally summer, she works so hard during the school year trying to stay organized and making sure her grades are perfect that she hardly has any time to just relax and enjoy life's simple pleasures like...shopping and ice cream. That is why Emily decided long before school had let out, that she would treat herself at the start of the summer with a large shopping spree and a gigantic ice cream cone. Her father would supply the monetary necessities of course and Emily was always more than happy to help spend her family fortune, though not overzealously. The girl could shop and in some ways she found it kind of therapeutic, finding so many beautiful outfits and makeup to match it thrilled her to no end.

After a long morning of shopping, and with the sun finally beginning to peer through the sky, in such a forceful manner that heat began to blaze down upon her, Emily decided it was time to stop at the ice cream parlor. JD was a friendly man and she remembered him from her youth, even before she went to Hogwarts, her grandparents frequently took her here to get ice cream, sometimes for good grades or behavior but almost always "just because". They were the type to completely spoil their only granddaughter and Emily thrived in their presence now that they were gone she enjoyed these little memories to help her get by and so she headed there to get her favorite, triple strawberry swirl and it made her happy to think of them agian.

As she walked in through the front door she saw two familiar faces from school both smiling at her, greeting her kindly. She had known Terrianne and Delia for quite a while now and while they were both halfbloods, a thought ordinarily revolting to the purist Emily, she had genuinely grown fond of them both. Although she would often butt heads with the outspoken Delia on political matters, it seemed as though Delia and Terrianne held out hope for Emily that she would one day "see the light" in some way and Emily, in turn, felt the same way about them. "Hey guys, how are my favorite halfbloods?" Emily said before she could stop herself, but hey it was a fact.... they are halfbloods, she justified in her head.
