And I was alone with my thoughts

Sometimes, Gael visited the town. It wasn't often because her family had lived here their whole lives and it was truly uncomfortable to be around people who looked at her with pity and surprise. She knew that they were all aware of her parents' deaths, and that most of them had been at her grandparents' funerals. She also knew that everyone had pegged her as a shut in and were 'pleasantly surprised' to see her out and about. By which they always meant that they were about to run off and tell everyone they saw that they'd run into the local hermit. They just didn't understand that it was exactly that which she was avoiding by staying home the whole time, or by going out on walks in empty places or visiting towns in which nobody knew her. She didn't want to deal with people treating her differently, she just wanted to be herself and in peace.

Sidhe was a nice little town, however, and it was quiet and fresh even in the hot summer holidays. She did so love walking the streets sometimes, when she got to ignore everyone around her. The little town square was clean and bright and all the shops were well taken care of and homely. One of her favourite spots, however, was the top of the tower at Carillon. There, she could see the entire town and beyond. She could see the fields and the forest and the lake some ways away. She could see the people walking about and going through their days. It was as if she were above everything, merely up in the clouds and looking down at life like she had nothing to do with it. It was a beautiful sort of detachment and it brought her the peace that was so hard to come by lately. With everything that was going on and how easily overwhelmed she was,  it was a much needed break. She didn't know where the sudden urge to come visit had emerged from, it'd been several weeks since she'd thought of coming here. All she knew was that this morning she got up and didn't think twice before getting dressed and making her way over. Even with her breakfast in a basket, so she could sit by the edge and have her tea, watching the sunrise, as she was doing now.

She truly hoped that it would remain quiet and empty, though she doubted that it would, in any way, remain so. Sidhe was one of the few completely magical towns in the UK, a lot of people liked spending their time here. Especially now that everyone was on vacation, taking advantage of the fact that the children were free from school. Perhaps she wouldn't mind if whoever came to the top was polite and pleasant, but in this day and age it was rare. It seemed like the Death Eaters roaming free gave everyone a pass to be as rude and violent as they wanted, even if the Death Eaters themselves had been subdued of late. Some would think that she ought to avoid social interaction, what with her family's history during the last purist take over, but she'd been told by several people that it was no way to live. That she had to welcome meeting new people. Well... she would try.
