Searching for the magic in the universe
Guided by the stars that light my way

Astronomy had always been one of Delia's great passions. She was in love with the stars in a way she had never loved anything else and she felt connected with them. Funny enough one of her childhood goals had been to write horoscopes for muggle magazines. She thought it could be a rewarding career, helping people to understand their position in the universe and letting them know how it was going to affect their day or week. That had always been one of the most fascinating things about astronomy to Delia, the fact that in this gigantic universe everything ties together. Everyone and everything was made of the same stardust, and they were all starchildren as far as she was concerned.

Her views were a little outlandish and she couldn't deny the fact that a lot of them were developed in the strangest ways. X-Files, for instance. A muggle show which was completely trivial and pointless actually had made a large impact in her life. She and her sort-of-brother Jesse had been totally obsessed with the show for as long as she could remember. It had ended when they were both tiny little kids but that didn't stop them from meticulously watching and dissecting every episode. It taught her to question things, question everything. And from that she had found that many of her life's answers, just like on the show X-Files, could be found out among the stars. Sure, her answers weren't aliens or anything....but rather everyday wonderings.

She wasn't exactly planning on writing any horoscopes today or asking the stars to give her any answers. No, today was more just for fun. It had been some time since she had been able to visit with her friend Octi. In fact, she hadn't even seen him since school ended! She had missed the sweet boy and owled him to see if he'd like to come along on an adventure. The two walked together a ways outside of Ottery St. Catchpole and she gestured to the cluster of domes with a smile. "This is our adventure," she turned to him with a smile, taking her hand and shielding her eyes from the sun beyond him. "What do you think?"

Whole worlds still unknown
And out beyond the blue
It was common knowledge that Octi was up for anything people wanted to invite him to. Party in a run down classroom at two in the morning? Count him in. Playing quidditch just because he had one friend that wants him to join? Of course. Going to have hot chocolate at the kitchens in the middle of the night with a friend he really wants to snog but will never see him as most than that? Abso-fucking-lutely. Admittedly, he ought to consider what he was saying yes to before actually agreeing. His mother said so, he said he agreed too easily and then got dragged out to do things he didn't actually enjoy doing. Octi didn't know what she meant, because if he was with someone he liked then he would enjoy it either way. It may be a bit ridiculous of him, but he truly thought that way. Maybe, she actually meant that he had a problem saying no to people, which was true. Yeah, he had a problem saying no to anybody about anything, unless it really was a true no-go. It had to be pretty bad for that, though, and he had to have very strong feelings on the matter. Otherwise? He just... went along with everything. Sometimes it was a bad thing, but mostly it wasn't. After all, he was nice to everyone, he didn't think anyone would consciously mean him harm or ask him to do anything unpleasant just because. Right? His mom worried and his dad worried and Octi just continued with life.
What had he agreed to this time, some would ask? Well, he'd gotten a letter from a friend asking about going on an adventure. Now, some people would ask for specifics on said adventure, but Octi thought that rather defeated the purpose. Delia was a wonderful person and they had tons of fun together. She was nice, she was easy to talk to, she liked listening to his music, and she took his conversations with Rufus just as seriously as he did. That was reason enough for him to like her a lot, almost as much as Clio. She and Clio were nothing alike, of course, but his best friend's tendency to be grumpy and anti-social didn't take away from her title. After all, she'd been his friend since their first few days at Hogwarts. She understood him and he understood her. Mostly. He definitely didn't understand her crush on the Stroud boy, but then again she didn't understand how weak he was for pretty eyes and a cheeky smile. She found that annoying and he found Arthur Stroud to be... well, bland wasn't the right word. He'd find it eventually.
    "
That-" Octi blinked at the sight before him. Oh, the observatory. That was- he'd never been there before. He did like Astronomy. Admittedly, he liked looking at the stars rather than all the calculations he had to do for the class. Did that mean that he didn't like Astronomy and just liked staring up into space? Sure, yeah, probably. He thought it would be so peaceful up there. "I love it! Let's go, come on-"
Excitedly, he beamed over at Delia and took her hand, dragging her to the main building ahead.

SEARCHING FOR THE MAGIC IN THE UNIVERSE
GUIDED BY THE STARS THAT LIGHT MY WAY
Delia had never been to the observatory before and honestly she hadn't heard much about it either. Not many people knew about it, at least not many her own age. It seemed to be a place more so for school aged children to take field trips. That or a bunch of college kids majoring in astronomy, not to mention actual astronomers themselves. While she had always enjoyed the subject she never actually practiced. It wasn't as though she was star mapping or sitting on her roof with a telescope. She didn't even have a damn telescope, to be quite honest! But the fascination had always been there and if the night was clear she would go out of her way to lay out under the stars and watch as they rotated slowly by. She didn't really know if that was something Octi was into, but she knew that, either way, he would be up for an adventure.

There were many qualities about Octi that made him so fun to be around, but his willingness to jump into.....well, anything, was her favorite. Not very many of her friends were as spontaneous as he was. Jesse was always up for anything but these days he was never around, not in the ways he used to be at least. He used to be her partner in crime every summer and now she had only seen him three? Four times? And even then it wasn't like they were doing anything fun and crazy like they used to do. He was working, a lot apparently, in the mines and doing something in the evenings, he never said what. The fact that he was registered made it hard, too. Not just hard but dangerous. So she figured she couldn't really blame him for his distant behavior. Last year she had been quite distant too. So wrapped up in helping the Kolna crowd that she had hardly spent any time with her friends. This summer she vowed it would be different.

Delia had managed to stay busy with friends but it seemed like it was always the same two. Emily and Terri. Terri and Emily. Over and over and over again. So when Octi had agreed to meet her she was excited to have a change for once. She knew that she made the right choice as be beamed at her and pulled her to the main building. "Ok, so I have a confession--" she chuckled grabbing the handle of the door. "I have never been here in all my life. Like, I've only just heard of it, but it has telescopes for ceilings, so this should be very interesting. Don't you think?" The small blond swung the door open smiling to her friend. " Have you ever been here?
