Travelling across the sea was not something that Monroe actively did and she was feeling a little weary about it but yet here she was. She had come here to explore, the weather was quite warm for a Brit but she much preferred it to the wind and rain that they were sometimes sent. She would enjoy the weather. It was still early in the day and she had made sure to have breakfast at home before coming over. She would eventually head into the nearest village or town when she felt peckish but for now she was fine. She wasn’t sure what she would bring with her since this was exactly a beach setting. However, she had brought along her tower and she was wearing her swimmers underneath her top and pants.

Wearing her sunglasses she carried over her duffle bag of stuff and went to the edge of the cliff and peered over the edge. She couldn't decide if the water looked eerily calm or pleasant enough for a swim. She decided on the former for now and she she perched herself on the blanket she had also brought with her near enough to the edge of the cliff that she could still hear the sea below.

It sounded treacherous and she had forgotten to check the tides before coming here. She had no way of doing that now. She would have to use her own judgement but she wasn’t sure if she even trusted herself when it came to that. She would just sit and read for now. She sometimes went for months without reading given how busy work could get. However, it was now summer and she seized the chance to catch up on her reading.

The witch was was just opening up her book, a biography on a muggle actress when she heard a noise that didn’t sound like water or the wind. Looking up in the direction it came from she bit her lip. ”Hello?”

Small voice in the quiet

Gael thought she really might be getting better at the whole being less of a hermit thing. She was going to more crowded places lately, of her own volition rather than out of necessity. Well, it was still a necessity if she was forcing herself into it, but the point stood. It wasn't an inescapable task and she was doing it without avoidance or procrastination. Getting used to new places and more people was a difficult thing for her, it made her entire body feel wrong in a way that she knew was anxiety. Still, she went, because she could not continue to live her life all cooped up forever. Not if she wanted to help anyone with what was going on lately. It was a slow process, but there was some progress and that was all that mattered.
At the end of the day, what mattered most about all of this was the way in which she went somewhere. If she went to Diagon Alley with no purpose and nothing to focus on, then she would undoubtedly end up back in Ollivanders to calm her heart rate. However, if she slowly started going to small towns or picturesque places with a book or something she was making or tea to keep her busy, then things weren't so bad. Slowly working up to it was the key to it. Sometimes, she could even talk to people without being too nervous. At first it was merely greetings and small talk with cashiers or waiters, which was unavoidable. Then there was the answering of a question or giving directions when stopped to talk to a stranger. Now, on occasion, it was a full blown conversation when running into someone unexpectedly. Like right now.
Gael had read about these cliffs in some of her mother's journals. She had said that they had a lovely breeze, if one was in their right mind. Gael always wondered what she meant by that but could only assume that it was somehow related to the temptation everyone felt around really high places. Combined with the rumours that there were mermaids below... well, she could figure out what happened. Gael was never a very adventurous person, and she rarely ever took real risks, but her mother had sounded so charmed by the spot that she had spontaneously decided to visit. It was only one jump of aparition away, after all. So she went.
Making her way up had been a bit gruelling, she had very much come to regret her decision in footwear. The grass and the stones were damp and the soles of her sandals were very slippery, but she managed to get all the way up without too much trouble. The wind flapped her skirt around and tousled her hair so she had to make her way forwards holding both of them down. Once at the top, however, she spotted someone just... having a picnic there. Oh, she didn't wish to be a bother. That was really the last thing she'd intended. Mostly, she'd been of the opinion that the place ought to be empty. After all, it wasn't a big tourist attraction and there were nicer places to be in the summer.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to startle you." Gael came forwards, smiling shyly. The other woman seemed to be around her age. Perhaps a few years younger. She had a kind enough face. "I can leave if you wish for some privacy..."

Monroe tried her hardest in whatever she pursued. This included her job. She was still fearful that a day would come where she would stuff up. The witch just hoped that was her thoughts getting the better of her. It was like her to overthink things even at the age of 24 she was like that. Most of the time she oozed confidence but there were times, private moments where she let her thoughts get the better of her. She didn’t have her parents around to reassure her. She wasn’t even sure what would happen if she was to attempt to visit and talk to them. She didn’t want to have to deal with it anyway. She was fine, she had her job, her work and her friends and not to mention her lovers. Monroe knew that if her parents found out about her multiple lovers they would just do worse than disowning her. She didn’t want to think what that would include.

They had basically done that already. Still, she had come back stronger, much stronger. Sure, her degree was on hold but that was the flexibility that university offered. In time she would resume her studies. She was still going to remain at the ministry after given that she was studying Political science. It tested her but she didn’t mind it. Monroe wanted to prove to herself more than anyone else that she could do it. Many people looked at her and saw just a blonde hot witch who was good for only one thing. But while she was exceptional in bed, she was more than that. She was capable of so much more. Monroe was grateful that Eleanor saw that at least. Even her wife, Roma saw that to extent so that reassured her.

She just wanted more people to see that. When she had met Jason a few weeks back, they had had a relatively normally conversation and it was one she was thankful for. She had enjoyed spending that short amount of time with him. Monroe hoped he was doing much better now but she had not heard from him. She would have to Owl him soon, if not when she returned from this little trip of hers.

She didn’t take much time in travelling around the UK, let alone making her to Ireland. Her travelling was normally limited to her work so it was nice to travel for fun for a change. Her having a picnic here may have seemed odd but she didn’t care. It was just her here, oh so she had thought. She supposed that someone would have joined her soon enough. She found it was a woman who looked around her age. ”No, it’s fine, you’re okay. I didn’t think someone else would be here so soon” she chuckled as she removed her glasses and smiled at the other woman. ”Don’t go, you can join me….I mean if you wish..” she said glancing at some space on her blanket before looking to the woman again.

“Small voice in the quiet”
[attr="class","character-spring-1d"]Anyone who looked at Gael would not think that she was an adventurous person, and they would be correct. While she liked exploring the caves close to her house, and the forest and the fields, and she could be outside for hours on end, she wasn't really what anyone could call... daring. Mostly, she liked being in calm places, exploring things for herself, seeing what she could find. Never was there any attraction for dangerous places, high or narrow or anything like that. Some people said the caves close to home were dangerous, but she'd lived there her whole life and explored them when she was little. She'd never run into any trouble at all, neither human nor of creature origins. They were lovely caves, too, often glittering with the different minerals in the walls. Multicoloured and reflective if one cast a lumos charm in just the right angle. Before her parents died, she'd used to stand on one end of the caves with her mother while her father went to the other end and they would send each other light signals like that. It had been lots of fun and it was just the kind of thing that she still loved to do, that reminded her of them and made her smile fondly. Of course, there was no one to stand on the other side and receive the message in her life. Not anymore. That was okay, though. She'd learned how to be alone.

Now, Gael had to learn how to be with company. With other company than the few people she'd gotten used to, that was. New people were everywhere and she had to admit that more often than not, she was too nervous to make all that much conversation. Rarely anything more than passing pleasantries, polite words that she could not avoid. That sort of interaction was something she could survive but it still made her rather nervous when it was someone she'd never met before. Coming here had been about admiring the view without having to interact with someone strange, strange as in unknown, not as in weird. Of course not. Still, she came up and found someone and... yes, she'd offered to leave and she secretly really wanted to. Not because there was anything wrong with this woman in particular, rather because she didn't know if she was up for a completely strange encounter with someone she didn't know. Still, she was told that she could stay and now it would be a bit rude to say that she couldn't. So, really, she had to stay now. Offering a smile, she came closer and sank onto the blanket with the other blonde.

"Thank you. Uhm... I'm Gael." Her hands nervously smoothed down her skirt over her thighs and her eyes moved between the stranger and the edge of the cliff. It really was a lovely view, whoever this was had chosen the spot perfectly. She should have brought a camera with her, really. Well, it was too late now. Perhaps she should come back some other day and bring it. Sunny days like this were rare in Britain, but they seemed to be having a particularly nice summer this year. That was good. That was lucky. She hoped it would last.

Monroe was far from traditional but thankfully things were becoming more open where working for the ministry was concerned. For a long time, the place was known for being very traditional and upholding tradition at all times. She knew that it was thanks to the new people they had in power. Of course it was never going to stay the same way forever. THat would be to regimental and while she was all for following rules, she also liked to have her freedom from time to time. It was why she liked days like today. She was out and about and she was seeing places. At least with working in the education department, she got to see a little bit of the institutions too and she enjoyed that. If anything she wondered if she one day she would work at Hogwarts or the University but that was far off.

She was very content in working at the ministry for the time being. Her days were never dull and she was always on the go. It was just today that happened to catch a break and got some time to herself. She was going to enjoy it and she made sure she did. It wasn’t every day that she took the time to come out all the way here and as she had arrived here she had not regretted her decision. This place was amazing. You could easily spend a few hours here on your own and no one would see you. Monroe wished she had a camera so she could take a few photos and share with her family when she saw them next. Her family had been limited to her siblings since she had cut off all communication with her parents but she didn’t mind.

The witch also didn’t mind having company. From what she gathered by looking at the witch who had come across her, this was her first time here too. Monroe found that ironic but didn’t comment on that fact. The other woman did look familiar. She too could have gone to Hogwarts but right now she wasn’t even sure if this other woman was a witch or not. She didn't want to assume things. She knew how that could turn out sometimes and it could possibly put her in some undesirable predicament.

She had simply been having a picnic and didn’t look suspicious herself so that was a positive. ”Oh, I’m Monroe. Did you come here to enjoy the day too? I’ve never been here before” she smiled at her before she looked over the cliffs. The drop was impressive if not a little terrifying. Well, she wouldn’t be jumping off them anyway but didn’t exactly take the fear away.
