[attr="class","rbtxtbr2"]    Life, after coming out of Pyxis, had become just a matter of keeping busy and distracting herself. It was how she had coped with the loss of her ballet career so many years ago -only about six, but it felt like a lifetime ago- and it was how she would cope with the loss of her magic now. There was plenty of work to do at the hospital, so many things to reorganise and catch up on, and since she had to do it by hand it took even more time. That was fine, if she was on her feet and she was busy then she was content. Or at least stable. There was also all the work she had to catch up on for Witch Weekly. Her advise column had been empty while she was gone, after all, and there were so many letters for her to read through and answer. They all had to be handed in, reviewed, edited, and then submitted all over again. It was such a process with just even one letter, let alone the dozens that she had gotten. On top of all that, she also had her modelling work. There were photoshoots that had been postponed while she was ill, and now that she was healthy again -and looking healthy as well- she had to get over there and have it all done. Her work schedule at St. Mungo's had changed, though. She was arriving earlier to get everything ready for the start of Santi's day, and then she was leaving later than she had even before all this... and she had been leaving late! Far after her normal hours, actually. Especially now. So she had to fit the editing and the photoshoots and the writing all on her breaks and after the hospital and in the weekend. Thankfully, she had an hour for lunch which meant that she could floo over, quickly do everything, and floo back. It was a challenge, but she could do it.

Dani had never really wanted to be a model, she thought it was all a bit shallow. Back after she stopped being able to do ballet, though, she'd needed the money. Writing advise for strangers didn't make nearly enough to pay for her rent and her expenses, so when someone suggested she take the modelling job she'd accepted. It would just be for a little while, she'd thought. Then she would get another job and quit the modelling. It made her feel rather objectified, reduced to just her face. It wasn't a feeling she liked all that much, she was intelligent and capable and more than her appearance. But the next job that she got had been at Panacea and that... she'd liked it, but she knew it wasn't what she wanted to do forever. So she kept the modelling work. Then her next job had been at Kavanaugh and Slagle and she had known she'd leave that too, so she kept on with it. Now she was at the hospital and she really loved her work. She actually thought she might quit this soon. It would be so liberating and it would give her a lot more time for herself. Though, really, right now time for her to think was the last thing she needed. Well, she'd consider it. Maybe talk to Carmine about it, he would have good advise. Or Ella and Delilah, surely they would have something useful to say.

With a sigh, she finished redoing her make up and got to her feet. Leaving the dressing rooms, however, she almost ran into someone. Dani made a surprised little sound, moving aside before recognising the person, but then- "Alayla, hi." Dani smiled at the younger girl. Oh, she always liked running into a coworker.

Alayla had hated being in Pyxis with a passion, sure she was sick but she had a newborn to tend to, her own health could wait. Calli seemed to have had the right idea when Samuel had come to visit her, he’d told her that his wife had refused to get checked and just soldiered on. She should have done that, then at least one parent could have been home with Adrianna, as it was both she and Logan had panicked and didn’t want their daughter to fall so ill, so they’d come to what had only supposed to have been a check-up, but ended up with them in quarantine. Luckily Cassandra and Randolph had taken her and kept her under their care whilst they’d been stuck and once the couple had found out that there didn’t seem to be any sick children they’d pleaded for the older Seppanen’s to bring Adrianna to see them often. After a while, they’d agreed and seeing her daughter had been what kept her going through the quarantine, the reason she hadn’t kicked off as much as she wanted too. That had become almost second nature for Alayla though, doing everything for Adrianna; never for herself.

When Alayla had been growing up, her mother had drilled it into her head that she was only worth her looks. Not many people knew of the side to her, the emotionally beaten down and vulnerable girl who was too fearful of her mother to say no. The older woman had always found a way to make Alayla feel like what she wanted wasn’t worth it, it was what Aiyanna wanted that mattered. It had only been when she’d started dating Logan that, the blonde had found the courage to start voicing her opinion and that hadn’t ended well at all. But when she’d found out she was pregnant, everything had changed had she once again stepped up to go against her mother and went to find Logan, he’d understood after she’d explained. He hadn’t liked it and she didn’t blame him, but the couple had worked it out and now she was free of that toxic environment that included her mother. Still, though, Alayla had taken up modelling, but this was her own decision and it was a way to stand up to her mother, she wasn’t doing it because it was what Aiyanna wanted, she was doing it because it was what she wanted and Alayla enjoyed it. Sure, some shoot's weren’t exactly tasteful, but at the end of the day, not all jobs were perfect. She enjoyed it and that’s what mattered.

Today was her first shoot after having Adrianna and falling sick, she’d had a shoot lined up when she’d caught the flu and when she’d been quarantined, everything had had to be rescheduled and today was the first time, in nearly three months and she was slightly nervous. She’d lost her ‘perfect’ figure after having Adrianna, but if Alayla was being honest, she was proud of her ‘mummy tummy’, it showed that she’d done one of the most important things and that was bringing new life into the world. But the problem was, models were supposed to be stick thin, what if she was told she couldn’t model anymore once they saw her? Sure, she had her fashion designing, but modelling made her feel confident and she didn’t want to be told she wasn’t pretty enough anymore. Logan’s opinion should be the only one that mattered, but it still hurt her sometimes when her looks were seen as wrong because it reminded her off all the times her mother had told her she wasn’t yet pretty enough to matter. Old habits die hard it seemed.

Adrianna was at home with Logan and Alayla just wanted to get the shoot done and get home to her daughter, but she wasn’t sure how long it would take, she was trying to average out a time, so she had some idea of when she could go home when a voice caught her attention and she glanced up, ”Hey Dani, how are you?” Alayla greeted with a smile.
