general appearance
Short to medium-length choppy dark brown hair, depending on her mood. She cuts it herself when she feels like it, or sometimes grows it out some to hang in messy braids. Sharp dark eyes, strong arms-- she is a Beater, after all.

She's a perfectly decent height, she'll have you know, and that's the end of that. She is only seventeen, after all.

achievements
Managed to not be in detention long enough to be able to sign up for Quidditch and make the try-outs.

Beater on Slytherin Quidditch team

doesn't use internship to skiv off responsibilities? wow

university
lig-na-paiste after, maybe. however, UoB has all the dragons she loves and an apprenticeship. this sickness is not getting in the way

her competition for the Harpies is Roxanne and Clio, after all. not unless they can take three. She'll probably follow in her mother's footprints, because eventually at least one of them will move up to Starting.
university major(s)
they only offer one, it's the one that matters

Or if UoB, Dragonology. Obviously.

character history
"Part of that great post-war boom to a pair of pretty young parents, but that was apparently also a norm then. With the celebration You-Know-Who was dead, and all that."

Aphrodite was only named after a Greek goddess second-handedly. Really, she was named after a dragon. Specifically, the dragon that brought her parents together. It's apparently a short but romantic story that started with the dragon and involves being conceived some months after in the general vicinity of said dragon. Personally, she didn't think the latter part was a such a great choice, but no Darwin Awards were won that day.

(The type of dragon changes every time it's mentioned, but really it was most likely a Peruvian Vipertooth named Aphrodite. Dita's often upset at the changes, though she understands it. Morgans are Welsh, after all. Belaúndes do Peruvian Vipertooths, and MacFustys do Hebridean Blacks. By changing the dragon between the Green, Vipertooth, and Black, they use all of what she has in her blood.)

So there they were and the dragon died sometime while she was still in her ma. And apparently, stupid dragon-lovers like they were, they decided it was the perfect name for a girl. Not that she could really blame them, as she'd probably do the same if she had such important things happen around a dragon. It's just funny, because she was almost never called plain Aphrodite until she was at Hogwarts, unless she's getting the full-name-effect. She's Afrodita to her dad and his family, and Nia to her mother's side. Which is where the nickname 'Dita comes from, of course. It's got the most similarity to both.

Her mother was a Harpies reserve for a fair amount of years-- could have been more, but was also a dragon keeper like her family, so Reserve was good enough for her. She was a Morgan after all, and great-great granddaughter of Josephine Wadcock, with the Captain of the Most Glorious Hour of the Harpies as both great-Aunt and (step)grandmother, and a Chaser from the same starting team. She'd do starting after she finished her training.

After Dita was born, her mother continued both trainings, and her father continued his dragoneering and metal-charming. So Dita grew up with grew up with a mix of the three always in her life, and she took to all of them well enough. Her mother took another short break from Quidditch to have Dita's younger brother Selestino eventually. And actually got on the first-string team once there was an opening. As she got older, her parents started talking more to people, but really, Dita didn't care much.

Her Hogwarts letter arrived at the expected time and to the surprise of many, Dita was Sorted into Slytherin. That had been a surprise to her family-- Dita had just always seemed like such a Gryffindor that it was taken without question she'd been Sorted into the House so many of her family had been. Still, it was accepted with the few raised eyebrows, and her parents began to look at the ways they could best accommodate the ambitions they knew best. Nain Angharad, as the only Slytherin relative they knew of who'd spent large amounts of time with Dita, took credit.

Dita enjoyed Hogwarts. She found. . .many another child in her year who had also been saddled with similar names and like her, somewhat despaired of it.  There was a fire at a feast, and Dita was. . .horrified. She'd tried what fire spells she knew to do something, anything because she was the daughter of two dragon keepers, of two dragon-keeping families, but they simply didn't and wouldn't work. It wasn't good enough, and the burns-- Dita wasn't touched, but so many of her Housemates were.

Then even more shit happened later in the year, and kids were tortured for hours. And just a few short weeks later, Diagon Alley exploded into flames. (it was mostly Flourish and Blotts', but still) Dita had been visiting her aunts at the time, and well. . . that it took much longer to get her schoolbooks was the least of the issues. The Minister's wife was murdered a month later, and on Halloweeen there was a new Minister and regime. That part just . . . well, her ma had had some stories about the last time that happened, and her papá tried convincing them to go to Peru. It was considered, really considered. After all, he had made the move when he married Ma. They could do it, but. . .

Ma wanted to stay with her siblings. And they tried to get Dita transferred over to Castelobruxo where her cousins were but that didn't work. She thought it was kind of funny how the Minister's wife died, not that she said so much. After all, she was a Slytherin, and the coup had been popular there. All the walls had ears, and the Headmistress had had kids here too. Then the dance where. . . well, had Dita been a Gryffindor, she would have been up there protesting the mutilation. As it was, she was frozen in a way she hadn't been earlier, and watching, taking in the measure of the man who was their new headmaster. Oh, and then the Minister showed up with a crowd of Death Eaters so that was even funner.

Then the lockdown? That really sucked, especially as some of her friends began to be. . .was it really kidnapped, if it was with government orders?  Technically, right? So that. She tried to visit them in Kolna, but that didn't really work. Luckily there were some dragon waste specialists, and what was her family but dragoneering? So suddenly they needed a lot. Then another coup happened. And Dita's parents would have had her in Castelobruxo once she didn't have to go to Hogwarts, but she refused. She was a MacFusty and Belaúnde by blood if not name, and neither of those ran from danger any less than Morgan and Herraro.

Then the Epidemic happened. As most of her family's involved in Quidditch and the rest with dragons, there was no one very happy about it. Her mother isn't sick, luckily, but her father is, and so is everyone in that family except Gwendolyn, Angharad, and one of the identical aunts Dita can't tell apart. Pa's family is safe, living in Peru.

famous quidditch players, famous dragon handlers, famous metal charmers.

On the Quidditch player side: Gwendolyn Morgan and Angharad Wadcock Morgan, Valmai Morgan, Joscelind Wadcock, referee Leopaldina Smethwyck, and Dita's own mother Gwenhwyfach Morgan

On the metal-smithing side: Joaquin Herraro Roca, Miguel Herraro Pachacutec, Agapico Herraro YupanquiRafael Herraro Quispe

On the dragoneering side, well. . .the surnames speak for themselves. Belaúnde and MacFusty both have well-known and well-regarded histories with Peruvian Vipertooths and Hebridean Blacks respectively.

While the Morgans can no longer boast of being the best-known Harpies player (as that honor rightfully belongs with Gwenog Jones), the Morgans certainly had their hand in the public knowledge of queer wixen, as found out when Angharad Morgan nee Wadcock  seemingly left her husband Gawain for his sister, Gwendolyn, after bearing him three children. The witches had played in the famed 1953 game together, and had always been known to be close. While the scandal impacted the family not at all, conservative mages were appalled by their actions.

"I've got three identical aunts on Ma's side. Rumor has it Iona and Iola share something Isla doesn't, Isla and Iola share something Iona doesn't, and there's something Iona and Isla share that Iola doesn't. I've squinted at them for the past sixteen years, and you know what? I really don't see it, so it's either to drive us mad, drive us to distraction, or it's something everyone else made up out of desperation. Anyway, I always wait until someone else decides who's who before I address them by name because I can't bloody tell them apart. Even then I usually get it wrong."

family history
"Papá's mother's family is huge with Peruvian Vipertooths. His father's family is huge in metal-charming. Dad does both."
"Ma's family is large in Quidditch and Hebridean Blacks. Mum tries and mostly succeeds with both."

Belaúnde: A Peruvian family with strong indigenous roots well-known for their aptitude with Peruvian Vipertooths, Belaùndes have been on all sides of dragon-related jobs. Boasting famed dragon keepers, dragonologists, and dragon exterminators, they're usually the family called in when Peruvian Vipertooths need study, research, or to be put down when they grow too destructive. Belaúndes are also usually the highest voice to judge if they're too destructive, and  as the family specializing in them, they're nearly always listened to. Peruvian Vipertooths are the smallest and fastest dragons recognized as an official breed, and to keep up with that, Belaúndes have a need for quick wandwork and even quicker reflexes. An elemental has sprouted up in the family from time to time, though unlike other dragon-affliated families, Belaúndes tend to develop elementals of water. Despite over a millennia of work with Vipertooths, the spread of Dragon Pox began with European wixen, and certainly not with the Belaúnde clan. Any suggestion that explicit care on how to avoid the illness was not given in a language spoken by the victim is a scurrilous rumor.

Herraro: Though Herraro is of course a common name both Muggle and Magical, her specific branch of Herraro continues to be a smithing family. Famed in South America for experimental techniques with iron, steel, and magical metals, as well as copper, lead, gold, and silver, Herraro is a well-known name with any and all metal-charmers. Unlike many crafts-families, Herraros often takes apprentices from other families, regardless of blood or magical ability, as long as there is sufficient desire and appreciation of their work. They send children out to learn as much as they could, to keep the family at the edge of the smithing industries.

MacFusty: The MacFusty clan are a well-known and well-regarded family living on the Hebrides Islands. The clan has traditionally taken on the responsibility of looking after the Hebridean Black dragon, and has done so for many centuries. Dita's grandmother's branch is, of course, one of many, a branch nearly as Irish in blood as it is Scottish. Dita's part of the clan reside on a partially-Unplottable island called An Caillteanach-- that is to say, the Lost One in Gaelic.

Morgan: Boasting famed Quidditch players such as Gwendolyn Morgan, the Welsh family resides on the island of Anglesey and has done so since at the latest 1203, when Morcant ferch Llŷr was one of the first to play with the Holyhead Harpies in what would be known as Cribog Pitch. Since then, the family has has Quidditch players in the Harpies and eventually the Welsh league nearly every generation.

Wadcock: While this is a family more distant, the mother of Angharad Morgan was a well-known witch named Joscelind Wadcock. A famed record-breaking Chaser for Puddlemere United, it caused no little amount of  tension between motehr and daughter when the-then Angharad Wadcock chose to play for the Harpies rather than Puddlemere.

"Apparently Ma has an aunt in Hogwarts whose class I take. which is a surprise-- they're big on family, and I don't think I knew she existed until this year. I mean the age makes it obvious, but I think we're both pretty equally in the dark about each other. Ma might have also implied a relation to Rita Skeeter once."
