[attr="class","textbodmungo"]Anna was trying to pick herself up from this. She really was. But trying didn't always mean succeeding.
She had returned to work, and that was a nice dose of discouragement. Being a nurse at St. Mungo's just wasn't the same without her magic. Anna's instinct would always be to reach for her wand and accio some bandages over, or another glass of orange juice for some poor sick kid. Magic made everything more efficient, she had realized, and now... Anna felt like she was hardly even doing a good enough job. A part of her knew that the only reason they had kept her was because if they fired everyone that had lost their magic, the hospital would be bloody deserted. But people would always get sick or injured, so that was hardly an option. Which meant that Anna had been spending the past few weeks trying to learn how to do her job just as well--or, at least, well enough--without the use of magic. It involved a whole lot of speed-walking and frantic searching on her part, but Anna felt like she was starting to get a hang of it. Being a nurse was a lot more exhausting now than ever before, but... she was still enjoying it. Magic or not, Anna was finding that the passion was still calling to her.
That being said, not having her magic was still a strange feeling. Anna had had many moments of making a motion to grab her wand to apparate somewhere, or to light the stove, and catching herself with a groan. These instances were getting smaller and smaller now, but they still happened. And every time they happened, she felt a little something chip away at her soul. Like her heart was just cracking more and more, every single time it got hammered into her that, yes, her magic was very much gone. And it wasn't showing any signs of coming back anytime soon, so it would be foolish to hold her breath. But Anna understood disease. She had learned a great deal in nursing school, and a small part of her couldn't help but hope. It wasn't completely insane to think that a cure was possible. Optimistic, yes, but Anna thought that was just the logical next step for St. Mungo's. For anyone involved in anything research-oriented.
Until then, though, Anna was trying to get used to her new life and trying to find some sense of normalcy wherever she could. She had gone on that coffee date with Liam--or was it a date? It had felt like one, which felt a little strange to admit. For so long, she had been the wise sister. The mother hen to Bee and Kase, keeping a close eye on both of them. Giving Louis the interrogation of a lifetime when they had first met--albeit jokingly, but still. It had been a while since she had gone on a date, but that was what that coffee and stroll through Phoenix Park had been, and Anna honestly hadn't been able to get it out of her head.
And now she was visiting Alice. They had known each other for years, and Anna would always remember the first day they had met back in first year. She, the reserved and smiling Ravenclaw. Alice, the boisterous and fun Hufflepuff. They had been similar in some ways and opposites in others, but at the end of the day, Anna had always cared for her friend. It had been a while since they had hung out, and she knew that Alice had also gotten sick, so Anna had opted to stop by her tour bus after her shift at St. Mungo's that day. As she turned a corner, the familiar bus came into view and Anna approached the door with a smile. She knocked on it a few times as she called out, "Alice? It's Anna!"
