[attr="class","cbody"]Nick didn’t know what had brought him here today. He supposed he was still just looking for something to distract him. He felt like that was what he needed these days. He was still trying to get used to the new normal. Again. It felt like there was no shortage of those over the years, but this was definitely hard to get used to. Losing his magic was not something that he had thought he would ever have to contend with. It was unheard of.

But here they were. Thousands of people were without magic and he didn’t think that they were any closer to a cure than they had been two months ago when the state of emergency had first been posted.

He couldn’t claim to know what it took to make a cure, because he didn’t. But he figured that it would take some time. Time was just something that was… frustrating to him. It was something that was keeping him off of a broom, something that had him very nearly without a job. Yes, the team hadn’t fired people who couldn’t fly. The season had been cancelled anyway so there wasn’t much of a point in sacking everyone who couldn’t get their brooms off of the ground.

Yes, they would normally have the European Cup to think about, but with the borders closed, it was pretty obvious that they would not be taking part in that this year. They would already have that on their mind any other year but this go around, there was just no way for them to take part.

He didn’t know how to get used to a life where he couldn’t fly or play Quidditch. If there was never a cure, he was going to have to figure something else out and where did that leave him? He would have had to retire eventually but that was something that he wouldn’t have had to think about for a decade. Maybe a little more if he pushed it like some players did.

But now it was something that he had to think of. And he didn’t think that he had any other skills. He didn’t think that he was really good at anything that wasn’t Quidditch, but he knew that he had to figure it out.

Today, he’d decided to distract himself somewhere that he had never been before. Originally, he had just been going on a run but that had led him to this castle. History was all right, he supposed, so he figured he might as well take a look around. He knew he probably looked a little out of place in sweats, but no one was paying all that much attention to him anyway, so he figured he might as well take a look at the grounds. The village square was pretty busy for a random Thursday, but he supposed tourists were into this kind of thing. He didn’t know how long he’d been wandering around, before he turned and unintentionally knocked something out of someone’s hands. He heard it clattering to the ground and immediately knelt down to help. “Sorry about that…”
