[attr="class","textbodslyth"]Herbology was one class that Artemis was really good at--and that was a fact that turned some heads. Because she didn't seem like a gardener. She didn't seem patient enough to handle plants. Except, plants didn't talk back. Plants didn't have opinions, so gardening was actually quite relaxing for the Slytherin. And it was one of the things that her mother was really good at, so maybe that was another motivator behind her skill in the class. Because Artemis had always felt, ironically, closer to her mother. The woman that she hadn't been able to grow up with, a result of sheer chance. So she had taken to Herbology pretty easily. Gardening was something to do during the day, anyways, and Artemis was the kind of person that loved the sunlight. Scotland was horrible for that, admittedly, but getting through the Hogwarts school year was a small price to pay for a summer of long days and constant sun. And if there was one good thing about living with her father, it was that he lived by the ocean--which was honestly just perfect.

Fridays were short and sweet for Artemis. Just double block Transfiguration, and not even that early. Definitely after sunrise, which worked for her. And now... she was free. Well, she would likely head into town in a couple of hours to do some work at Hazard, but for now she was enjoying the down time. No one else was around, really. Not that she knew, anyways. She was fairly sure the lot of them were still in classes, and if they weren't they were probably... well, it was a long list. Artemis figured that if they were around, she would hear them before she saw them. But no sound of mayhem, and no falling humans anywhere in sight, so Artemis figured she had just a few moments, at least, to enjoy the garden and tend to her Herbology project.

There was a class going on in one of the greenhouses as she made her way through the garden. Thankfully, the one with her plant was without a class, but as Artemis stepped foot inside, she realized it was far from empty. With a smirk on her face, she slowed down a bit as she approached Hal, then came to a stop next to him and turned around to lean her back on the worktable in the middle. Artemis crossed her arms, unsure for a brief moment if Hal had even noticed her approach, then decided against that just as quickly. "Hey, baby face--how's it going?" Artemis asked jokingly, the smirk on her face only persisting. Hal was definitely cute, but he was also a friend. And she knew there were boundaries with that, but Artemis was never one to worry about that sort of thing. She was the queen of toeing the line.

It Ain't Me
I had a dream
We were back to seventeen
Summer nights and The Libertines

Hal wasn't sure when he'd become friends with people who sounded like they have those New Wave parents who liked cool names with deep meanings - but he was. It wasn't even like there were only a couple of them, there were a lot. And all similar ages too, which made Hal wonder whether their parents knew one another or if there was some strange bet in the wizarding world that his parents didn't hear about. Thankfully. He liked them all quite a bit, of course, they were great friends and a lot of fun to be around. But he didn't really fancy having a weird, Greek mythology inspired name. It was bad enough that, in his circles, there were a dozen Henrys for every noble house. He didn't think he'd deal all that well with being called Ganymede or something like that.

Of course, there was always the chance that it was all...a big coincidence. Hal didn't believe in that kind of stuff, not really. There was a reason - other than Professor Lightwood creeping him out - that he didn't take Divination. Did it exist? Hal was hard pressed to say no because there were some weird magical shenanigans going around and being able to tell the future didn't sound all that far-fetched when one took all of it in consideration. Now, did he truly believe that it could be taught in a school to students that were, at best, uninterested in everything? Hell no. Maybe it was sort of a gift, like some people - cool people that he totally didn't envy - could control the elements. It was just something that you had to be born with. Professor Lightwood seemed to have at least something, since she had the uncanny habit of asking him about things he never told her or any other professor about when she saw him in the corridors. Fucking mind reader, at best. Creepy crystal-ball staring crazy lady, at worst.

That was why Hal focused on things he could actually succeed in without having to have been born weird. Like Arithmancy, for example. Charms, Transfigurations. Potions. Herbology was...not bad, not at all, but he also wasn't as good as some people. Definitely better than average and leagues ahead of Persephone, who was hilariously unable to keep a plant alive after breathing near it. But he also wasn't Artemis level or anything, just someone who could water plants without making them die out of sheer disgust with his inability to do basic things. Which...fair, wasn't Persephone's problem. She just had horrible luck with anything green and alive.

He'd volunteered to oversee and catalogue the progress of the potted Dittany plants that were being grown for the infirmary - which was a dumb thing to do, volunteer for more work, but that was Hal in a nutshell. It was an easy enough job, all in all. Mindless, that he could do and take a breather too before starting to prepare for the last legs before winter break. The greenhouse was supposed to be empty until the next day, so Hal hadn't been expecting anyone. Of course Artemis would show up.

Groaning at the nickname, he turned to her and rolled his eyes. "Hello to you too, Twin Number Two," he made a note on the chart floating in front of him and crossed his arms. However, there was a playful smirk hovering on his lips. "I'm working/studying. You? Don't tell me if it's illegal, I don't want to know."
