@magnus
Giacomo did enjoy getting out the castle for Hogsmeade weekends, though if it was only one day, he wasn’t sure why they called them weekends. But next year when he was old enough, he was looking forward to getting an internship, he wasn’t sure what yet but he would like to work further in the potions field he thought. It was also something he did well in so come June, he was certain he would get high marks in his exams. He knew his mum would be proud even if he just did his best but he wanted more, Giacomo wanted to make her smile even more. There was no telling if and when the muggleborns would be completely free again. She was the only parent he had and he was determined to make her proud.

He had no idea where his father was, he had worked on a business deal with Karel but he wasn’t sure if the Slytherin was worth trusting or not. If he did pull through and at least supplied Giacomo with the man’s name, then he was obliged to fulfil his part of the deal. He just had to wait for results to come through. But that wasn’t going to happen today exactly. He was just out to get out the castle for a bit.

He didn’t mind the snow and he had dressed accordingly complete with his Ravenclaw scarf and beanie. He had others but he decided to not bother looking through his trunk for them and had just grabbed what was on his bed. He didn't mind in the least that he was wearing what he would around the school, Giacomo was on his own today so he was not looking to impress anyone or fit in with anybody. Though he did have his moments where he felt like he stood out but he tried to not dwell on them too much.

The young wizard made his way through the village, foregoing stepping into Honeydukes’for now, He would probably stop in there last before he went back to the castle because he knew no trip to the village could be complete without a stop by the sweets shop. He rubbed his face as he walked into the potions shop and brushed off the snow from his arms and started looking around before clearing his throat to get past a man at the end of the aisle. ”Sir….excuse me please..” he said speaking as loudly as his voice would allow him.

I feel Like I know you, I just don't know why.
Magnus hadn't known it was Hogsmeade weekend for the Hogwarts students when he'd decided to come out for the day, he'd only planned on coming for some shopping, a few drinks and to maybe pick up a girl to go home with him. But that didn't seem the case, he could still probably pick someone up, but he had to be careful; a lot of students looked much older than they actually were and Magnus didn't want to risk anything illegal. It looked like he'd just have to do Christmas shopping and drink, at least he could still do that. He shuffled around the groups of people huddled together, being sharply elbowed a few times. Merlin, he hoped that if he ever had kids they'd never be rude like these lot. He'd quickly put them in their place and scold them. Manners didn't cost anything, except maybe a couple more seconds of your time to take in your surroundings.

Magnus stalked through the aisles, looking a little irritable, he wondered if he'd ever been like this when he was younger if he'd misbehaved and been rude and pushy like this; his parents probably would have clipped him around the ear and told him to apologise. People were too soft nowadays; you couldn't tell your children off because they just didn't listen and if you did a light clip of the ear, you'd have other parents and people down your throat, calling you an abusive parent. It was a pain but he wasn't a parent so all his thoughts were just speculation; maybe if he ever decided to have kids, his opinion might change. But for now, it was just him and all the girls he brought home and that was all he wanted.

He was examining a cauldron, he needed a few more to stock in his and Morag's research facility; Morag had completely embraced her potion making position and Magnus had lost track of all the potions she'd been making, so he'd decided as a little Christmas gift (and a business investment) he'd buy a few more cauldrons that could be used. A voice came from behind him and it took a few moments for him to realise that they were addressing him and what was more, the kid was being polite. "I'm sorry," Magnus said when he caught sight of the boy looking at him and he moved to the end of the aisle to allow him to pass. He looked about fifteen, but he was so much politer and therefore, in his eyes, mature than most other kids his age. He did a double take when he saw the boy, he looked familiar but he couldn't work out why. It was like he'd seen this kid once before, but that couldn't be the case. Magnus had most definitely never met this teen, but it was strange, there was just something about him that he couldn't quite put his finger on.

It took a few moments for Magnus to realise that the fact he was staring at the kid could be questioned, and he shook his head, snapping out of it and looking away, "Hurry along, kid." Magnus said as politely as he could, he wanted to get back to looking at cauldrons and just get out of here and go for a drink somewhere.

Hogsmeade was Giacomo’s place to escape to, at least during the term when he wasn’t able to go to London. But next year he was determined to apply for an internship. Of course, he would talk to his mother about it and explain how they worked to his grandparents. More than Leila he would be visiting them each time he came there for his internship. He would just wait to decide on which was the best one for him to apply for. Giacomo was sure he wanted that experience before he graduated from school no working while he was still in school. If he did go on to become a potioneer, he knew it would not be any walk in the park but he was determined to try his best. He knew his mother had been a very good student during her days at Hogwarts in certain subjects but he wondered if his dad been the same. As much as Giacomo tried, he could not stop wondering about his father and what the man was like. There were many unanswered questions about him.

His wish was simple, he just wanted to know the man. It was up to the man, whoever he was if he wanted to know him in return. If he didn’t, he didn't know what he would do or how he would feel. He was already feeling so lost with his mother suffering as a muggleborn. He knew it was far from her fault. He could only blame the ministry and Bloody Ares Wentzell! He was the one who had initiated the registration in the first place. As much as Giacomo wanted to pull his mother out of her situation and allow her to be free, he knew there was nothing he could do. He just a teenage wizard who was working his way through to his OWLs. He himself wanted to do well in them, Giacomo wasn’t out to prove he was smart because he knew he was.

He was in the Potion shop to simply see what they had on offer. He wasn't out to buy anything to test out any of them. Giacomo had no idea who had the greater selection, this shop or Sluggs and Jiggers in Diagon Alley. Honestly, he loved to just see what each shop had on offer. It would give him a more practical learning than being in a classroom and looking at the potions in his textbook. He supposed that Adults were in here all the time, he just thought they would avoid the village if they knew that it was a Hogsmeade weekend for Hogwarts students, Maybe this man didn’t know.

As he made his way past the man, he looked up and gave him a faint smile before looking back the shelves and pulling his coat further around him but he took off his beanie and stuffed it in his pocket. Looking up as the man spoke again. ”I’ll head off in a bit, I’m still looking” Giacomo said simply before he started looking at the shelves again.

If Magnus had children, naturally he would have kept a closer eye on the different Hogsmeade weekends because he could imagine that parents would probably miss their children when there were such gaps between opportunities to see each other; Magnus didn’t care though. He had no need to and he was definitely not in a rush to change that at all. Sure, he didn’t mind spending time with other people’s kids, he knew how to hold them, how to talk to them and how to play with them, but that was all he was interested in. A child was a long term commitment; one he didn’t want to have yet, or maybe even ever.

Maybe if things had gone well with Clarissa, then things would be different. Maybe then he would have had a child or more than one. But as it was, things hadn’t ended that way so unless he settled for someone much younger or moved quickly; the chances would be slim for him to father any child now. Merlin, why was he thinking so much about children? That was a danger zone and he wanted to steer well and truly clear of it all. The wizard rolled his shoulders and turned away, picking up one of the cauldron’s and began to stroll along the shelves, dropping various ingredients into the pewter pot. He glanced sideways at the boy again, yet another sense of familiarity going through him.

”Say, kid. What’s your name?” Magnus asked as casually as he could manage as he picked up a sprig of lavender and turned it over in his hands before dropping it in the cauldron with the rest of the items. The wizard paused and turned to face the boy, moving closer to him and looking him over again before approaching the counter and dropping the cauldron and ingredients down. ”I’m going to get two more pewter cauldron’s as well.” He said easily, walking back to the shelf and taking another cauldron under each arm, before turning to glance at the boy again, ”What are you looking for?” He asked curiously, finding some overwhelming urge to want to help the boy, talk to him more. Maybe it was the fact he was much politer than every other kid he’d seen today, but he’d met plenty of polite children and none of them had filled him with the urge to stand and chat, this kid was different. And he wished he knew why.
