Emanuel is cocky. That is evident when you see him coming. He's all shoulders back, head held high. He struts--never hanging his head. Got that sexy swagger going on. Wizard is tall, too--and won't be caught slouching. With that pale complexion and ginger hair, Emanuel doesn't tan well, but he could care less. He knows he looks good all year round. Dark eyes will melt you with a smoldering stare--and even fire red locks, all tousled, begs to have fingers run through it. "Don't be doing that though, unless we are snogging."
Quidditch does the body right...as does the bit of free weight lifting he does in the dorm. He's fit and has great muscle definition for his age. Being so vain makes working out a priority. He'd die if someone called him fat.

It can be very difficult to figure out just which side of an issue Emanuel really falls on. He loves to rile up others, pushing buttons just see the steam rise. He believes if you can't argue for your opposition you do not know their arguments well enough to defeat them.

Truly an extrovert, Emanuel doesn't just enjoy talking to friends, family members, and or people he knows; he has no qualms striking up conversations with total strangers. He loves to meet new people and learn about their lives--or at the very least let them get to know all about him. Even when he is talking about himself, most people still want to be around him. "It's because I'm charming, as fuck." ...clearly.
Not one to always think things out before putting them into words, he tends to speak as a way to explore and organize his thoughts and ideas.
Emanuel tends to have a wide circle of friends. Since he is so good at meeting new people, striking up conversations, and genuinely enjoys the company of others, it probably is no surprise that making friends comes easily. Emanuel finds social interactions refreshing and actually gains energy from such exchanges. When he has to spend a lot of time alone, he'll start to feel uninspired and listless.

Not sure how this is a skill? Then you must be a novice. Emanuel knows more drinking games than anyone his age should have ever heard of. He has an alcohol tolerance a frat boy would be envious of. There is no one better at beer pong--and beyond being awesome at it, he's guaranteed to liven up any social gathering. He's fun to have around, just owl over an invite to see for yourself.

His mother would die if she ever saw him in something mismatched. Style can make for a powerful impression--which is always what the Delaneys are going for.

There is a lot of pressure that comes from being born into the Delaney family, too. They are all incredibly career driven. Emanuel's life is laid out for him. Luckily, he actually wants to follow that path. He would never do to his kid(s) what his father did to him--he won't make choices that could ever cause the Delaneys to excommunicate him.

Aislinn and Constantin had been married for quite awhile before Emanuel came around. His mother had insisted she finish undergrad and law school--and her time at the Department of Justice before having a child. That was always the deal: one child--a scheduled event between Aislinn leaving the Ministry and joining Delaney & Delaney. Family was important, but family and career are synonymous to a Delaney. So, Aislinn was not about to sacrifice one to have the other.
So, Emanuel joined the pair just after Aislinn turned thirty. He was born a month early--and she went through postpartum depression. Took a long time for Ais to bond with her son, but Constantin connected with the child right away. He took a year off of work to stay with Emanuel in the beginning, and didn't go back to full time employment until Emanuel went off to Hogwarts. Those first eleven years of his life, Aislinn worked sixty plus hours a week, while Constantin worked from home doing art restorations in the times when Emanuel was napping or with a tutor.
The young wizard wanted for nothing. He had riding lessons--both horse and broom. He was taught to perform certain bits of magic before going to Hogwarts--charms in particular. He always has had a knack for metal charming--something he surely draws from his father's family. Emanuel was given anything and everything-- Tutors were brought in to ensure his mastery of the English language (so much as could be assured by the time he was eleven years old.) He was reading on what would have been the equivalent of a muggle high schoolers level, though, when his first year at Hogwarts rolled around. He was taught to debate--those lessons continue to this day.
His sorting was a terribly slow one. The Sorting Hat considered Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Emanuel had no preference among them. He could have easily seen himself in any of the houses. Ultimately, where he was put was where he belonged, the wizard did very well in his house, joining the Quidditch team and being selected as a prefect. He was recognized as a natural leader--but his arrogance and attitude were the blockades that held him back from being chosen as Head Boy.
A known flirt, Emanuel has had only one serious girlfriend. Sasha Augustine caught his eye in fourth year, but it took until nearly November of fifth year for the pair to actually get together. Sasha being notoriously hard to get eventually came around to his charms, though. All was well--for awhile. Her blood status was of no significance to him, but it was what ultimately drove the pair apart. Partly... It, at least, kept them from reconciling.
The infamous dance where Headmaster Flint maimed a student was all drama--and not just because of the torture. Emanuel had being dancing with someone who wasn't his girlfriend...and that witch happened to lay one on him. He claims, insists even, that he did nothing to encourage this beyond being his charming self. Regardless of how guilty or innocent he might be, Sasha saw...and went off and got revenge by snogging another bloke. They didn't speak...and then she was just gone.
School has been a constant stream of changes. Emanuel has dealt with them as well as most anyone. His name helps him along a good bit. Plus, he did exceptionally well in the Dark Arts class, but doesn't really have as much interest in Defence. Dark Arts made him feel powerful...and the boy does love power. It's in his blood. That greed is part of who he is.

family history
The Rowles are a long established pure-blood wizarding family. The author of the Pure-Blood Directory considered the family to be one of the "Sacred Twenty-Eight." One of the family's most esteemed Heads was Damocles Rowle, who served as Minister of Magic from 1718 to 1726. His only son was born after his tenure as Ministry had come to a conclusion. Damocles had spent a great deal of time alone, dedicated to his career up until that time. But in 1730, he took a Slughorn wife. She was an incredibly young thing, and her name has been forgotten, though it can be found in traced family trees. It took until 1745 for a child to be born alive. It died, though, in the first year. The young wife mysteriously passed on, too--but none in high society batted even an eye when her sister, Eleanor, was given to the man as his second wife in 1747.
Eleanor bore Damocles a son within a year. But his transgression against her older sister was never forgiven or forgotten. A true Slughorn, the witch was a master of poisons. Her name is remembered fondly by history. She was acting head of the Rowle family until her son, Roald, became of age. They were praised as philanthropists and gracious socialites. Unbeknownst to her son, Eleanor transferred over half of the Rowle wealth and land holdings to the Slughorn family. This shrewd action would serve to help to establish that line as one of the richest families in all the world.
Slowly, the effects of Eleanor's benevolent opinions on social responsibility were eroded by the rise of purist politics and the marriages of many generations of the male heirs to haughty purist witches. For generations, the Rowle family grew its hate as
Roald (1747-1888) beget Roan (1777-1902) beget Sterling (1800-1925) beget Thelonious (1833-1965) beget Uhtred (1883-1972) beget Killian Rowle (1923-1982).
Killian went on to have six of children: Thorfinn, Dermot, Frey, Freya, Brigitte and Constantin. Despite being the last born, Constantin still had a responsibility--a duty to the family and the bloodlines. He rejected it when he refused an arranged marriage. It is not an original story, what happened to him...It has happened to countless men over the centuries. A woman came into his life and she became most important to him. The beauty of Aislinn Delaney and her sharp wit captivated Constantin. He wanted no other wife.
Aislinn was from London. Her mother, Olivia, was a muggle--young and pretty when the girl was conceived. Her father, William, was a wizard--old by muggle standards when he met Olivia. She had been an aspiring actress waiting tables at a fine dining restaurant in Chelsea. May-December romance, it might have been....but wizards live much longer than muggles. So, even being one-hundred-twenty-seven now, William is still alive. He and Olivia have been married for just shy of fifty years.
William is from old money--and so Aislinn grew up disgustingly rich. She attended Hogwarts--and was in Ravenclaw, while her future husband had been a Slytherin. (Small Rowle sidenote: None of Killian's children went to Durmstrang. Killian regret this decision as he believed Hogwarts made the children soft in respect to blood politics.) Pretty as her mother and smart as her father, Aislinn did well at Hogwarts and then at Bangor. While, the woman does not need to work--she followed her father's footsteps working first for the Ministry in the Department of Justice and now as a partner at the family firm. She took over as a majority partner when her father retired. Or claimed to--William is still often found in the office, giving his opinions and guidance on how to best litigate cases. He was renowned as a criminal defense attorney--and is still highly respected in the field.
The firm is made up of just shy of one thousand attorneys. Managing partners for Delaney & Delaney include Aislinn Delaney, William's youngest brother: Marcus Delaney (89), Marcus's son: Nicholas Delaney (51), and William/Marcus's brother George's son: Oliver Delaney (50). Each have a legal specialty and oversee the corresponding department within the firm. Aislinn took over for her father heading the Criminal Defense Division. Marcus focuses on Corporate Law; Nicholas handles Civil Disputes; and, Oliver works Tax. They have a growing Patent and Technology Division that currently falls under Marcus, but there could be for the first time ever a non-Delaney promoted to partner to manage that division.
