Brooding with an underlying note of smoldering sexiness, Axton has an elusiveness to his demeanor that causes many a single lady to take up coming to visit the Hogs Head. He knows he is handsome, but will not give you the time of the day if all you are looking for is a pretty face. This wizard has layers. He's pale, going out to get a tan is never a priority for the man, nor are charms or glamours to perfect his skin. His complexion is still nice, though he doesn't shave as often as he really should. He tends to keep a bit of scruff on the chin and cheeks, but has no desire for a proper beard.

CHARMS  He's a clever one. Not just with casting and performing magic, but enchanting objects. Obviously, he must have some talent in this realm if he believes he is going to craft an Invisibility Cloak. 

MEDIATING Axton is a middle child. He forged unique relationships with both his older and his younger sibling, learning to mediate between the two. He provides a balance between Al and Ap.

INNOVATIVE  His studies spanned from ancient to modern. He is open to new ideas and unique approaches to problems. He likes to push himself to go further and will often approach a situation in more abstract ways.

INDEPENDENT  While his siblings were homeschooled, Ax went out and studied at an incredibly prestigious school. He learned to be on his own. He bonded less with their grandfather than his siblings did.

SELF-MOTIVATED  The independence that drives Ax, also, keeps him motivated. While he may spend a few nights a week behind the bar at the family business, that is just earn enough to fund his other interests. He has worked hard for his accomplishments his entire life. He isn't hesitant to keep doing that now as he pursues his Hallow.

LEVEL-HEADED  Keeping your cool may not seem like a skill, but it is...especially running and owning a place like the Hogs Head. The crowd in the pub can get rough, but Ax isn't going to let some arse rile him. 

LANGUAGES  Written and spoken, ancient and modern--languages have long fascinated Axton. During his time at The Black School, he mastered Runic, as well as dabbling in Dovahzul. (Okay, yes, he mastered that, as well.)

POWER-HUNGRY  Really, what Dumbledore isn't? It's a family vice, really. Axton isn't special in this. 

PROUD Modesty isn't something that really runs in the family, either. Axton became rather insufferable when he first got into Şolomanţă. His excellent performance there did nothing to make him any less arrogant. So, yeah, he's a bit of a git.

APOLLINE  While Ax has a soft spot for both of his siblings, it is really his little sister that has him most wrapped around her little finger. His relationship with his older brother is a little bit more complex. 

A GOOD DRINK  While bartending may not be the most respectable or notable of his professions, he still enjoys it--and loves a good drink. Mixology is too trendy a word for him to use, but he loves crafting a cocktail and regularly infuses liquors himself to make seasonal drinks. 

COMPETITIVE Ax is competitive to a fault. Being second born, he both envied and idolized his older brother. He has always wanted to be better than Alistair and is an utter arse about it when he is. He doesn't like to acknowledge when he isn't and is an incredibly sore loser.

OBSESSIVE While he has become engrossed in the pursuit of the Hallows, this is not the first proverbial rabbit hole to consume Axton and his mind. He can easily fixate on whatever is important to him and become blind to everything else. 

CALLOUS He was raised by a rough man and grew rough himself. Though he considers himself closely bonded to both his siblings, he has not made many meaningful relationships outside of family.

character history

Middle born to Wilhemina and Alfred Dumbledore, Axton never knew solitude growing up. He had his brother and his sister. His memory does not reach back to a time before Apolline, though he does remember further back than most. His first memory occurred at age three. He isn't interested in sharing that tidbit, though. It's for him and him alone-- No one alive but he remembers that moment anymore. It's a sliver he holds dear of the time when his parents were still living. It's one of the few moments he recalls about his father.  

Life was unincredible. He was a tiny thing. He thought little of how lucky he was to have his parents. But one evening changed their lives. The damage done to the family lingers, even as the Hogs Head was set to right. Axton remembers in excruciating detail the shattered glass, ash and embers that covered the pub. There are some downsides to having such a crisp memory. He takes it all in stride, though, because what else is there to do? 

One explosion...and just like that--they were orphans. There were lots of orphans in those days thanks to the war.  Though most a good bit older than the trio... They were kept from being sent off to an orphanage by their paternal grandfather. He took them in and raised the lot of them at the Hogs Head. The rough and tumble crowd that frequented the place let small ears and wide eyes see and hear a great deal of things that was not quite appropriate for children. So, began the unique development of Axton Dumbledore's character. 

The concept of the world being either black or white faded very quickly--or really never took hold in his mind. As his brother might say, everything was grey...but that has a different meaning to Axton. He does not find the shades of grey to be dull or dreary. He sees them as a means to justify or rationalize any course of action. 

Going to Hogwarts was never really an option for the children. Due to long unhealed wounds between their grandfather and their great uncle, they knew they would never go to that castle. Aberforth began to teach them, Alistair, first of course... But even when lessons had not actually commenced for Ax, he would listen. He would peek into the books that were being used to teach his brother. He wanted to be like Alistair, but he, also, wanted to be better. There was an envy in him for the attention that his brother got as the eldest. Axton was a middle child--and as such felt as if he had to compete for attention against the heir and the baby. 

He did not resent his brother, exactly... He adored him, but he was always comparing himself against Alistair. It was an unhealthy habit for a child. 

Axton showed himself to be a very talented wizard, even at a very young age. Their grandfather was knowledgeable and skilled despite what his chosen profession might have led others to believe. So, when Ax expressed interest in The Black School, Aberforth did all that could be done to secure the boy admissions into the exclusive school. The Dumbledore name got him the admissions interview, but his own skill and drive got him into the school. 

Şolomanţă was everything that Axton had dreamed it could be. He obsessively gave himself over to his studies, thirsty for knowledge. He had the Dumbledore ambition driving him. He had to be the best. He sought masteries in as many subject areas as he could manage. Schooling was his life and he found himself deeply fulfilled by the growth of his knowledge and understanding of magic. Those seven years were spent entirely unexposed to sunlight, as is required by the school--and never after that did Axton have any real desire to bask in the sun's rays. It is too bright and glaring. He does not like it. The darkness is his friend. 

The wizard was in no hurry to leave Şolomanţă--and stayed to complete a secondary degree with multiple majors after his primary schooling there was completed. He drew out his time there taking additional courses in Necromancy and Alchemy, despite his declared areas of study being Theurgy, Sanguine Scientiem, Demonology, and Occultism. He considers still the possibility of returning to Şolomanţă to study Necromancy and Maleficium further, but the latter does not further his current obsession of crafting a Hallow. 

It was not just his dedication to learning and knowledge that made him linger at Şolomanţă. Though he had bedded everyone in his class--and the one before and after it---Really it should come as no surprise that sex magic was heavily explored at the institution--he did not come to care for any of them...until Saffron Blackwood showed up. Feelings were felt. They have been acknowledged, ignored, buried, and set fire to over and over again. He's clean of her until she is back in his bed and he's sliding down the slippery slope again.  

Political change in the United Kingdom did not readily impact the Dumbledore. He returned to the country when asked to do so by his grandfather. All of the siblings found their way home and Alistair breathed life into an old dream. Though Axton does not believe that every choice he and his brother and sister made were directed by the goal of crafting the Hallows, he cannot deny that the paths they have chosen for themselves have set them up perfectly to create these incredibly powerful artifacts.

There is a history with Saffron Blackwood, and apparently, the pair is 'working on it' again. Shagging and ignoring attachment is healthy and normal. It's fine. Brilliant, really. 

Here is her take on our past and present:

"Never one to be outdone, I graduated the top of my class. I came home. Of course, that wasn't before Axton happened. The whole slim class size would make you think that we would focus on something that wasn't each other. That there wouldn't have been anyone interesting enough to get attached to. But that was entirely not the case. And the Dumbledore was rather all consuming when it came to my interest. He graduated before I did, and then I didn't see him. You don't leave the Scholomance after all. I guess that was the first 'break up'.

Then I was home, and home was close enough that we were on again. Or at least as on as we ever were. I don't even know who broke up with who this last time. Or any time, really. He's annoying, because he's the only person that makes me feel like that. But then he says stupid things. Or I do stupid things. And something happens. And one of us leaves. We're both at fault. And neither one of us does anything about it. At least until we decide to 'work on it', and end up right back here. Not together. Shagging. I guess you could say we're 'working on it', again."

Percival Dumbledore was born to Armand Cronos Rupert Horatio Dumbledore and Thalassa Dumbledore (nee Blair) in 1840. A well-known and respected halfblood family based out of England, the Dumbledores were forever shrouded in secrecy and kept to themselves. Family-centric, they believed in family above all else.

Kendra Doveston was a witch born to two muggles in 1851. Her heritage came as a surprise to her parents, who were visited by the Headmistress of Hogwarts, Eupraxia Mole.

Percival and Kendra were married shortly after their graduation from Hogwarts and began having children in their 30s.

Perhaps the most well-known of the Dumbledore generations was the generation which encompassed Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore (b. 1881), Aberforth Dumbledore (b. 1884), and Ariana Dumbledore (b. 1885) - children of Percival and Kendra. Growing up in Mould-on-the-Wold, they were a happy family, at least, until young Ariana was attacked by muggle boys who had seen her use magic. Percival attacked the young boys for their actions but kept Ariana's secret. For what she had done would have warranted her a one-way ticket to St. Mungo's. Instead, Percival was arrested and imprisoned for the rest of his life at Azkaban prison. Ariana was lost after that - lost to the magic inside of her and the trauma that lingered.

The family relocated to Godric's Hallow shortly thereafter where Kendra could watch over her daughter under the guise of caring for her illness. Ariana and Percival were rarely mentioned in public and considered a taboo in Wizarding society.

The Dumbledore brothers attended Hogwarts where Albus shined and Aberforth stood basked in his shadow.

In 1899, one of Ariana's outbursts killed Kendra and sent the family spiraling into darkness. Albus returned to Godric's Hallow and although Aberforth threatened to drop out of school to care for their little sister, Albus insisted he finish schooling.

Gellert Grindelwald's appearance in Godric's Hallow furthered the rift between the two brothers. Albus grew more and more enraptured in the man's stories and words, neglecting Ariana. When Aberforth confronted his brother about his actions, a fight erupted between Grindelwald and Albus. Ariana, caught in the middle, was hit with a stray curse and died.

Aberforth blamed Albus for Ariana's death and the pair never reconciled.

Seeking refuge in Hogsmeade, Aberforth kept away from his family. He married Katrina Blanchard a few years later - she was a curse-breaker from Finland, and she bore him one son Alfred Hrothgar Dagon Percival Dumbledore, dying in childbirth.

Alfred grew up with only his father by his side. He attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft where he was sorted into Gryffindor. A bright young man, there was a touch of sadness to everything he did, though, he persevered. After graduation, he married Wilhelmina Morton, a fellow Gryffindor. They had three children, Alistair, Axton, and Apolline, before perishing in an unfortunate explosion at the Hog's Head that some speculate was targeted at Aberforth.

After their death, Aberforth took over the Hog's Head once again until Alistair and his siblings were old enough to take ownership themselves.
