Forgiving you, well, she's stronger than I am
You don't look much like a man from where I'm at

Leaky Cauldron
December 30th 3:31pm
One of the few things in her life that she could say honestly and totally say that she would never regret was her daughter. It had been a year since she had taken the potion, it had been a year since she ended it; but she knew that it was over long before that vial had touched her lips. From the moment that he had ended it and left to go back to her Amanda had only felt pain, and it was something that she could have stopped, she could have just walked away but her heart had not let her, even when she knew that he was lying to her. Well, now it looked like he was getting what he deserved. She couldn't remember who had told her about Kit and Imogen getting back together, but it had been a harsh blow. She had cut him off thinking that he would come back to her. That all of his promises and plans for the future would be true for once, that just once she could have everything that he had promised her. That they would be a family, that they would be together, that he did love her.

She was so tired of feeling like this and no matter what she did, she was never enough for Kit. She had taken a poison because she had thought that he had died and then everything had gotten so hazy. He changed everything over and over again and she just hurt. Her chest physically hurt. She wanted to be happy, she wanted to live life and smile, but instead, all she did was cry. It was enough, she was enough and she just had to get that through her own head. She was thankful though that this happened before she was stupid enough to let him try for another baby with her. She would have murdered him if he had gotten her pregnant and left her again.

He was back with the cow. She hated that bitch. Not just because Kit always seemed to run to her, but because that's what she was, the little tart was a pureblood but she just... she got under Mandy's skin and drove the Gryffinor insane. It was why she was out drinking. Not to drown sorrows but to move on. Her favorite game, Amnesia. Drink til it stopped hurting. She was sitting at the table over in the corner and was putting the shot down when someone spoke to her and she jumped a little.

We're just hanging around

Burnin' it down

Sippin' on some cold Jack Daniel's

Jammin' to some old Alabama with you baby
It had been a great first semester at Lufkin and Brandon was feeling rather accomplished these days. He had done everything he had set out to do and he was well on his way to achieving his dreams. He was happy to be out of Hogwarts now if only for the fact that he now had the opportunity to pursue his goals fulltime and it meant he was one step closer to becoming a full-time archaeologist. This was something he had been dreaming of since he was a small child and now his dreams were within reach and he was not going to do anything to mess that up for himself. Even though he had the freedom to go out and drink it was not something he did very often, rather he preferred to stay in and study, it was not that the southern boy did not know how to have a good time it was just that he could easily have too good of a time and he did not want that with school looming over his head.

School was not in session currently as the Christmas holiday came to pass and soon it would be the new year. Brandon was taking this opportunity to unwind from the stresses of college and to let loose like he used to do. He had chosen the leaky cauldron as his destination and he could not say he was upset by the choice. The place seemed to be fairly alive for the time of year and he was hoping he would still be able to find a seat, but noise is what he needed currently, he needed to feel like he was apart of a world outside of a library for a few hours. It was times like these that he did miss Hogwarts, it was the social interaction that he craved as college life had left him little time for such things these days. He missed his old friends and fellow classmates and the enormous amount of extracurriculars and games that were offered throughout the year. It was not that his college did not offer those things it was just that now that he could study his field of interest he had thrown himself into his studies and did little else for his first semester, though he hoped he could eventually manage to change that a little.

Upon entering the leaky cauldron he noticed a girl who looked very similar to one he had known back at Hogwarts, he name was Mandy and she had always been a good friend to him though they had not talked since he graduated he had thought of her often and wondered how she was doing. Truth be told he had been interested in her a few times but she was always with someone else which left him apprehensive to ever tell her how he truly felt about her. Still, he was not going to miss an opportunity to say hello to her and to see how she was doing, she honestly looked a bit sad and he instantly felt the need to comfort her in any way that he could. He walked over to her "Mandy?" he questioned, looking over her shoulder curiously waiting for her to turn to him.

Forgiving you, well, she's stronger than I am
You don't look much like a man from where I'm at

Maybe this was the depression that she had felt looming for months finally sinking in. Maybe it was her seeing that she really was letting go after years of clinging to the idea that Kit would want her. After all this time of lying to herself and telling herself that he would see sooner or later that she loved him, that she was better for him than Imogen was. It was a strong delusion and now she was losing it all. Maybe telling him about Phirra had been the last nail in the coffin of what might have been, but she had to hope that this was something good, that her life would move forward and she would be just fine. That she would come out the other side of this and maybe be fucking happy for once in her life. Her parents were worried about her and she accepted that they had a right to be, but since learning the truth, that they were not her real parents, that they had adopted her and they had lied to her for so long, she just wasn't sure that she could trust them anymore.

Why lie about something so small? Why tell her all of these things if they loved her? She wanted the things that they told her to be true. She wanted the world around her to be right side up but ever since Kit had left and she had found out the truth it felt like everything was just one lie after another. Perhaps this had something to do with her, maybe it was all in her head, she had no idea but she wasn't sure that she could live the rest of her life looking them in the eyes and not knowing if what came out their mouth was truth or lie. Maybe she was being too harsh on them. Maybe their intentions were good but she really had no way of knowing if they would change their minds and suddenly not want her anymore like everyone else had.

Flipping the glass upside down she sighed and turned her head to look over her shoulder, the frown that was on her face changed to a brilliant grin and she hopped off the stool to (rather clumsily) throw her arms around the man. "Brandon!" After a moment she let her embrace go and she smiled at him.
