Harvey tried to see his current situation as a positive but it became a little hard at times. He knew that people tried to help him and he appreciated it. He believed they were doing out of the good of their heart and not for them to gain anything. He wasn’t even sure what they would gain out of it if anything. He was happy and Silas was happy and that was all that mattered to him. Yes, he missed Rosa terribly but until she was allowed to come back to a safe world, he was not going to allow it. He was very sure about that. It was important for the wizard that everyone he loved was happy as well as being safe. He was lucky to have been born as a halfblood but he knew that some others didn’t have it so lucky. Rosa was one of those people.

The wizard made sure to provide for his son as much as he could. He knew it was tough because even though his son was still a baby, he needed so much and he wanted nothing more than to be able to spoil he but he was being careful with his money. It was imperative that was as frugal as he could be. Harvey wasn’t the best at maths and arithmancy but he made his money stretch where possible. It was for this reason that didn’t eat out all that much. He was treating himself tonight and yet, he still felt guilty about that even though many people told him he was stupid for feeling that way.

He had finished off a week at work and before he began to work on the Quarter Finals of the European Cup, he had to eat dinner. It was tough working with secondhand information but the borders were closed and he was not able to attend any of the matches. He could have travelled with Silas. Many single parents did, even muggle parents. Becoming a father had seen Harvey start to admire how muggle parents parented. They didn’t have magic to use. He was lucky to have remained uninfected with the recent epidemic, something else he was thankful for.

Making his way into the bar, he smiled at the waitress and ran his hand through his hair. He felt very awkward dining here on his own but he tried to make the best of it. Looking around he started to scratch his neck, he noticed that a lot of other tables were occupied with pairs or larger parties. Harvey followed the waitress and took his seat at the table she showed him before ordering a beer and starting to look over the menu. Harvey looked up when someone bumped into his table to excuse them. ”No harm was done, you okay?”

[attr="class","tweedles"]PJ didn't usually eat out by himself, but he hadn't had time to pack a lunch from home and Gwen was too busy with her own job to step out with him, which left him with the slightly unappealing prospect of eating alone--though not really, because Keenan was strapped to his front fast asleep--in a restaurant. It wasn't that he hated eating out, though he much preferred a home-cooked meal more than anything he could find in a restaurant, it was more that he loved cooking at home so he saw little reason to eat out when he had delicious food he'd cooked himself exactly the way he liked it. Eating out was an experience he could learn from, figuring out how the food was made and how he might be able to apply it to his own cooking or ways he might do it differently at home. Writing a copy-cat recipe for Witch Weekly would be an interesting exercise too. Keenan made a sleepy noise and settled against PJ's chest, a small patch of drool seeping through the neck of his shirt. It was a small price to pay for the joy of fatherhood.

He was so absorbed in his son that PJ managed to bump his hip into a table. "I'm terribly sorry," he gushed immediately, then looked down to make sure Keenan remained undisturbed. Sure enough, the babe was still sleeping soundly, soft puffs of breath fanning over PJ's neck. He couldn't help the fond smile that broke through. "I wasn't watching where I was going, apparently," PJ chuckled to himself.

Where Rosa was concerned, it wasn’t so much that he wouldn’t allow her to return until things were safer for her but he’d rather that she was not here until it was completely safe for her. It was important her to be here with her child yes, but not while her returning would have some serious reprecussioins. But Merlin, he missed her, While Silas could clutch onto his blanket each night, he didn’t have the witch he loved to cuddle up with and drift off. He missed those moments a lot. Part of the young wizard felt guilty. Of course it took two people to create a child and if they didn’t have their son, then Rosa wouldn’t be missing out on so much. But he knew the could both agree, Silas was the best thing to happen to the two them.

He wondered how different his life would be if he didn’t have Silas but his little boy brought him so much happiness that thinking of it any differently wouldn’t do. Havery could have gone on to try out for Professional Quidditch team but he knew it would never be right for him even if he had enjoyed playing it at Hogwarts. Maybe the registration had influenced his decision. Regardless, he was happy in being a writer and it allowed him to write wherever he pleased. He didn’t necessarily have to be in the office. He could even write from home if he wished.

The freedom his job offered him with a young child was unmatchable. Still, he knew it was important for Silas to be with children his own age for a number of reasons. He needed to learn how to interact with others that weren’t his dad and he needed to learn a number of essential lessons. While it had been hard for Silas to first adjust to going to childcare each day, Harvey knew he was happier nowadays.

With his son at childcare, Harvey was free to eat out if he pleased and it was a luxury to eat out without having to worry to get a highchair to make sure that Silas wasn’t too fussy or making too much of mess. The man who had bumped into his table had a baby with him. Harvey thought for a moment, did the man look familiar to him. Yes, he had been the librarian during his time at Hogwarts. ”Mister Peters?” He asked the man. He hadn’t been a professor so it would be wrong to address him as such. ”Sorry, you may not recognise me, I was probably one of many students you saw in the library when you worked there…..” Harvey looked to the little boy and handed the man a napkin from the dispenser on the table. ”For his mouth…” he laughed.

[attr="class","tweedles"]It had been such a long time since PJ had carried an infant on his front, and it took a little adjustment to the extra weight but it was just as comforting as he remembered. Sure, Keenan was basically walking all on his own at this point, but he'd finally gone down for a nap and PJ needed to eat, so it seemed like a reasonable solution to just strap him in and carry him with. They were lucky he was a heavy sleeper, because otherwise PJ wouldn't have been able to leave the shop to get food. Still, going out with a baby was an effort in patience, since everybody and their mother had to stop to coo over him and his adorable curls. Not that he blamed them, but he'd been hungry since before the little tyke went down, and all the stopping for strangers was only extending his hunger that much more. PJ wasn't normally irritable, but there was only so much hunger he could take before he lost his cool, and he'd come too close to losing it before he arrived at Griffin.

It was a marvel that Keenan was 16 months already, when PJ could have sworn he was born just yesterday. Soon enough they'd be sending him off to Hogwarts--hopefully in a better political climate. As excited as PJ was to watch his son grow, it was a daunting prospect after watching his three daughters grow so rapidly right before his eyes. Maybe they'd try again in a few years, because PJ certainly wasn't ready to call it quits on having babies--he never had been, they'd just stopped happening so he'd stopped expecting them. PJ took a good look at the man, and yes, the face was a little familiar. "Mr....Arington, yes? I never forget a face that walks through my library," he declared proudly then when Harvey handed him a napkin added, "Oh thank you. Poor thing drools like a fountain some days."

With Valentine’s Day coming up, it was safe to say that Harvey had been thinking a lot about Rosa lately. This time last year, they were expecting their baby and now she was on the run. Well, that was the lesser of evils when it came to his hopes about her. He could just go out and search for her but Harvey knew his girlfriend was far too smart to let anyone find her. She could have even outsmarted him and hidden so well that Harvey wouldn’t be able to track her down. It was this belief that Harvey held onto each day. He had to be strong for Silas. He had read somewhere when they were expecting that babies were sensitive and could pick up on emotions. He supposed that it was only true when it came to their mum. At the moment, Harvey was playing that role too, so he wondered.

But he just treated each day as they came and made sure to make sure to smile and to earn a smile from Silas. It was easy when it came to the youngster, he was a very happy and cheerful baby. It was nice he was oblivious to all the trouble going on around him. Of course there would be a time when he was older and at Hogwarts that he would learn about what his mother had faced and what was going on in the magical world when he had been born. For now, Harvey preferred he was kept isolated from all that. He tried his hardest to not show that he was feeling down. He only let his feelings get the better of him when he was on his own.

In hindsight, he knew now, he should have tried to get Rosa out of the UK when she was in the early stages of her pregnancy. It would have been safer for them if they had managed to get to mainland Europe. He would have attempted to keep them all safe and would have put Harvey’s mind at ease. But now was the time to be selfish.

The wizard smiled up the older gentleman. ”Yes sir, it is me. It is good to see you again” Harvey noticed that man still looked very young. He would be lying if he said that he was surprised to see the man with a young toddler strapped to his back. ”My son is no better, when he was about five months old, he wore a bib permanently” Harvey smiled, At least Silas was better now and didn’t drool everywhere. ”What’s his name?”

[attr="class","tweedles"]PJ chuckled and used the napkin to mop up the worst of Keenan's drool, well aware that there'd be more before the hour was up. Such were the risks of parenthood. The girls had all drooled their fair share, but Keenan certainly did it more than PJ recalled any of the girls doing it. It had been rather a while though, so PJ might just be forgetting the less pleasant aspects of their infancy in an effort to preserve his sanity. Keenan squirmed a bit when PJ wiped his face, but he didn't wake--a blessing, PJ knew. Merlin only knew what kind of commotion a crying infant could cause during a busy lunch rush, and PJ wasn't much interested in finding out. Gwen once commented that Keenan's cries could wake the dead--piercing as they were--and PJ had to agree with her at four in the morning when he was stumbling out of bed to change a diaper or warm a bottle. They'd agreed that she would handle anything before midnight, because she had a set time to start and needed a semi-decent amount of sleep, while PJ could--to some degree--set his own hours. Lately though, Keenan has been sleeping almost the whole night through, waking once around four or five depending on what time they finally manage to get him to sleep, and again at about eight or nine.

"Oh, you have a son? How old is he now?" It was always nice to hear where a former student had taken their life, whether they'd gotten married or had kids. "This is Keenan," PJ introduced proudly, patting the babe's head softly. "I don't recall my girls ever drooling half this much, but I might be remembering things wrong. It's been known to happen, and my wife does tell me I tend to see everything through a pair of rose-colored glasses." He chuckled softly to himself.
