[attr="class","tweedles"]Living without magic wasn't so hard, Tabby mused; though that was probably because they'd been raised in a muggle home and had knowledge to fall back on. They knew some witches and wizards weren't so lucky and struggled because of it. At least their major wasn't too reliant on the use of magic, though in some cases it sure helped. They had their knowledge of dragonkeeping to fall back on, because they'd been trained in ways to do their job in the event of a lost or broken wand, but some animals couldn't be approached too closely and magic helped in cases like those. Regardless, Tabitha felt good about their chances of graduating with good marks and they'd be damned if something so trivial as a loss of magic was what tripped them up. It helped that Mum was supportive, especially so after Tabby came home to tell her that they didn't want to be referred to with female or male pronouns. Not everyone knew, of course, but Tabby told the people who mattered. There was little use telling everyone they met, especially if they wouldn't be seeing the person again. So, all in all, they felt more comfortable in their skin--not that they'd felt all that uncomfortable before, to be honest. The mini dragons seemed to feel the change too, because they were more open to affection and generally more willing to be around Tabby in their idle moments.

They still missed being on the reserve, but it was a far away pain now, like the twinge in their knee when the weather changed. It generally only showed up when something reminded them of it, otherwise they were content to go about their new life in peace while they climbed their way towards a new dream. Tabby didn't like doing her schoolwork at home, mostly because it was either too distracting with the mini dragons, or too quiet without them. Being in the library but not the quiet section was a good compromise, because there was just enough background noise but nothing so distracting that they couldn't focus. Sometimes they visited their mother to study, because the sound of Agatha puttering about the house was an equally soothing background noise, but Mum was at work so Tabby had to content them-self with the university library.

Live A New Life
Sweet, Sweet Girl Dreamed
Someday She'd Be A Writer
Swore She'd Never Give Up
On Her Soul Desire
But Leaps Of Faith
Turned To Shots In The Darkness
Until She Told Herself
She'd Never Be An Artist
The transition that came from relearning life without magical aid hadn't been too difficult for Isaac, and that came mainly from the fact that neither of his careers really featured it heavily if at all. Not practical magic, at least. His wand was more of a grounding tool he used when he was concentrating, to keep him focused- anything else in the house or his office that had anything magical about it had been runically altered or enchanted. Rena had been unaffected thus far, and he was glad for it, as otherwise he might have become just another name on a bookshelf with nought but his family and awards to tell of him every being here. See, Pyxis had never been an option to him. Never an option. Amassing together an abundance of people of suffering from the same disease was not at all like herd immunity; Indeed, without knowing the cause of the Epidemic, and allowing visitors in and out, it was more of a petri dish, a breeding ground for other ailments to slip in and attack already altered and impacted immune systems. So he had stayed home and he had advocated for everyone close to him to do so too. Not all of them had listened... much to his chagrin.

The main point in fact was that while he had been on the precipice of death, he had recovered, and he was back to doing what he did best; Absorbing large amounts of knowledge in his free time, to better himself, and potentially his students if he came across anything truly enlightening. As a muggle author once said, and he liked to quote as verbatim when anyone questioned his need to share anything he learned, "Knowledge is like an STI, You don't always know where you got it, but you have this urge to pass it on." The difference being that the facts he passed on weren't likely to wind you up in Mungo's with an embarrassing appointment with the nurses. Mainly. There were the odd one or two occasions that he couldn't always control or explain... but as par for the course, he always maintained that what other people did with what he told them was out of his hands and no longer his business. Unless it was interesting. He always had a flair for curiosity.

The library was fairly busy, but he wound up in one of his favourite sections. The only issue was that there was a wonderful person slightly impeding his path to one of the shelves, which meant that he was about to interrupt a learning exercise, which he was reluctant to do. So he paused. Humming. Dithering. Debating. Hand reaching forward a little before he snatched it back and tapped his jaw anew. The youths of this generation... they really needed all the encouragement they could get. Interruptions could be so distracting, which could be catastrophic, and further an inclination of abandonment to their studying. Yet the book he wanted was so close. What to do...

[attr="class","tweedles"]Tabby generally didn't do libraries if they could help it, despite their consumption of any and every piece of text on dragons and other magical creatures back in her Hogwarts days. Libraries felt too quiet and isolated, too cozy when Tabby liked the open wilderness. There was something a little suffocating about the vaguely stale, dusty air of libraries, which was why Tabby sometimes borrowed their mother's e-reader when she had a hankering for some literature. Tabby liked to do their learning in more hands-on ways, anyway, which wasn't as easy to do with the more dangerous animals that were nearly impossible to wrangle without magic. Understandably, they weren't covering the ones that flat out required magic to handle in the practical lessons, since so much of the population was without magic these days. Still, Tabby wanted to do some extra reading on those creatures, on the off chance they got their magic back. Even without it, Tabby didn't imagine they'd have too difficult a time finding a decent paying job, since they were still fit enough to take on a more challenging job, even if they couldn't go so far as dragons anymore. They still had an impressive resume, regardless, though Tabby could concede that they might have to find something in the muggle realm to supplement their income. Regardless, they were in a library now, contemplating a book on merfolk--it appeared wildly inaccurate just from a first glance, but sometimes Tabby liked seeing the kinds of misconceptions people had about magical creatures and beasts. There'd been one memorable text that claimed centaurs were nocturnal. A laughably inaccurate piece of near-fiction written by someone who had obviously never seen a centaur and yet felt knowledgeable enough to write an entire book about them. Why such books even existed was beyond Tabby.

They were just about to put the book back when they turned their head just enough to catch sight of someone in the corner of their eye. "Oh! I'm sorry, were you trying to get through?" Tabby was usually more aware of their surroundings than that, but apparently they had been too caught up in the hilarity of the book in their hands that they hadn't noticed someone else in their aisle. Although, after a proper look, Tabby couldn't feel too regretful that they'd held up whoever it was. Likely older than their own mother, but age had obviously treated them incredibly well.
