things change
but they're going our way

This was... scary. This was exciting, and it was a lot. It was a lot to take in and even more to actually realize. She had been sick for a few weeks now on and off. First, the cold in January just before she and Jesse had a few days off together, and then a few weeks ago when.... it all started. She felt a little stupid, okay, a lot stupid, for not realizing what this was sooner. Especially after what happened the prior fall, but she was still...in shock. She had no idea why she was, but this time there was no fear. No worry that he would leave her, or that things were going to go wrong now. She had no worry that he was going to be taken away now, or that he was going to die at any moment. Things were good for them. Really good for a change and she was scared about what was going to happen when he got home, but she was trying to act like nothing was wrong.

Healer Lassiter had confirmed her thoughts, and then she had taken three tests. Gone wee three different times on three different kinds of tests. It was for certain now. She was pregnant. It was real this time. She wasn't sure what to think, or what to do. She was so excited and so happy but at the same time, she was worried about what Jesse would say. She knew he would never leave her, but would he be happy? Would he be nervous? This was the big time, this would affect the rest of their lives and when they got married. She knew she wanted to push the date up, but she had no idea to when. WIth a hum to herself, she turned u the radio and began taking cookies off their sheet which was fresh from the oven as she heard the door open. She had his 'gift' on the table and just had to tell him now.

"Hey, love." She smiled as she looked at him over her shoulder.

And it's you and me and all of the people
And I don't know why, I can't keep my eyes off of you
What day is it? And in what month?
This clock never seemed so alive
Tomorrow was his second test. He wasn't too worried about it. Charms had always been a subject he was good at. Though he had to admit he had been nervous at first. Going back for his NEWTs was a blessing, which sometimes masqueraded as a curse. He had been a good student at Hogwarts but things had been different then. There were people there who kept him on task. Kyler, Delia, Truly especially. There were constant reminders: hey, have you done the potions work yet? Hey, can I see what you've got for that defense sequence? He had never realized how the little things like that had helped him so much. Until, of course, he was responsible for being his own reminder.

Jesse was grateful to still have Truly in his corner, but he wouldn't allow her to fall into babysitting him. He was grown. He needed to take charge of himself. It had been difficult getting back in to the swing of schooling, but she had helped him through it. As much as he wanted to push through and do it on his own, she had been there to pull him out of himself and seek her help. She had always been good at that. And he reconciled that he had always loved her for that, and likely always would. Now, two months in things were getting better. He had to admit that he would much rather be doing the schooling than working the mines.

That was a no brainer, of course. It was nice to come home and not feel that his arm was going to fall off from swinging a pickax all day or being coated in black grime. Instead he came home looking just as he did when he left and feeling just as fine. Still, even with all the changes in his life and routine the fact still stood that the his most favorite time of the day was getting to go home. As Jesse came into the kitchen he could smell fresh cookies and he had to snicker to himself.

"Hey," he greeted back with a smile. "Baking again are you babe?" She was always up to something in the kitchen. Not that he would complain. He'd never had anyone who wanted to cook for him before. Quite the opposite, most of the people he'd lived with in his life had basically told him he ought to fend for himself. Their priorities had never been making sure he was fed, or clothed, or had....gifts. "What's this?" Jesse questioned looking over at the item on the table. His curious blue eyes shot from the gift to her.

Don't you know that life changes?
Ain't it funny how life changes
You wake up, ain't nothing the same and life changes
You can't stop it, just hop on the train and
You never know what's gonna happen
You make your plans and you hear god laughing
She was going to tell him today, she was telling him now, an this changed every little thing about them. They weren't just Jesse and Truly. Two dumb kids who made it work when no one thought they would or thought that they should even be together. She was the daughter of a Death Eater and he was just some dumb kid who knew his way around a pair of fists. An odd pairing of Posh and Cockney but they made it work, and they made it work damned well. He was her world and had been for as long as they could remember. The best of friends until something changed and then they were more. Jesse had been taken from her but now he was back and they were happy, more than happy really.

She was going to marry this sweet man, and he would be hers for the rest of her life. She would spend until her last breath trying to make him and the life that was inside of her happy. This child was not planned but that did not mean that it was not loved. She knew that Jesse would be happy and she had come up with this way of telling him, knowing just how pleased that he would be. She hoped so at least. The other idea was cute too, but it had involved a bun in the oven. She wasn't sure that he would get it and probably would just eat the bap before even asking what was going on. She knew her man well enough.

She gave him a brilliant smile as she put the pan to the side so she could put more in the oven and then moved to kiss him. "Mmm, yes. I have been thinking about these peanut butter ones all day long and it was all I wanted, so tada. " She said shaking her hands then the stepping to give him a loving kiss, her small arms about his waist. He asked her about the gift and she nodded her head. "I got you a little something, a surprise." They weren't too much on spoiling one another, things were more about showing and telling that they cared than buying the other one gifts. "Why don't you open it?"
