@fluffyhades
Vet loved to be outdoors as much as she loved to be studying all those classes this year. Maybe she was overdoing it but she was managing well when it came to her timetable and she was proud of herself for doing that. She had to factor in more than her school work after all. But when she was able to she would easily head outside. It didn’t matter where as long as she could head outside. At times she didn’t have time for flying and that was fine. She wasn’t so eager to get on her broom some days. Like other teens, she went through her moods and her preferences. She was happy that she hadn’t scared Nys away the night of the dance or any time since then. He was really nice and she would hate for him to be scared away by her.

She wasn’t exactly a stranger to hanging around boys. She did play on the Quidditch team after all and had many great friends who were guys. In fact, Vet thought she had more guy friends then she had girlfriends but she supposed there was nothing wrong with that. She did get along with most girls in her year. But she just preferred the company of guys. But she was far from a ‘Tom Boy’. She did like to dress up and wear dresses and heels to different parties and occasions. The most recent of times being her at the Valentines dance. She was glad the night had gone well.

Since then, the two of them had spent a lot of time together and she was feeling drawn to him. Vet honestly didn’t know what to make of that. Maybe it was true, she was starting to like him She wasn’t used to having feelings for someone other than Dima but she still hung around her best friend when they were at Duelling club or when they were at training together. But she used her time when she was out walking to think about how she felt about Nys. He was a really nice guy and she hoped he was genuine.

Arriving a the bridge, the Ravenclaw fished around in her bag for chewing gum and took out some and chucked it in her mouth. She made her way further along the bridge before she came across another sixth year. She knew of Hades Moore but they hardly spoke except to say hello to each other sometimes. ”Moore…..how’s it going? What brings you out here?” she asked as she walked over and took note of the sleet falling around them.

For My Friends To See

A Different Side Of Me

His varsity jacket fit in well with the other Gryffindors, but whenever he left the common room, he felt he stuck out a bit. The bright scarlet contrasted with white tended to draw attention, so he typically walked around with his hood up to herd people off from speaking to him. Unless it was The Fam who were approaching him, then it seemed to work for the most part. At least if they needed him, they could just glance out of one of Hogwarts' many hundreds of windows and see if he was down at the Paddocks since she stuck out so bad. He loved being out there, except when it was cold. Getting to play with the nifflers or speak to the Hippogriffs was rewarding in and of itself, and the invisible thestral-things were incredibly intriguing... even if he couldn't see what he was petting... and they felt pretty weird. Like... old leathery skin. But... boney. He could only hazard a guess of how they actually looked. Yet he had a strange affinity with them. All he had to do when they were in the paddock was reach out a hand, close his eyes, and wait. Then soon enough something like a muzzle dropped into his hand and that was that.

His internal ramblings were cut to a premature end by the sudden appearance of a different voice and he turned, hands deep in his jacket pockets and his eyes squinted in a wary wince of who it might be. "Oh... hey Olivette... Buchanan..." he returned awkwardly, berating himself for being unable to decide on whether he should have said her first or surname in return. Fuck. Well, that was the tone for whatever this conversation was. She'd been with Nys for the dance so he'd gotten to see another potential extended-member of the Ironic Crew. He didn't have much of an opinion on her simply because he hadn't been around her enough to form one. But Nys thought she was good people, and so did Zeph, so he supposed that in itself spoke for her. He looked around them for a moment, rocking forward and backwards on his heels, then looked back at her again. "Err... what uhm... what brings you out here?" This was going from bad to worse.

He hoped she didn't take it personally. It wasn't like he was deliberately making this difficult.. but that was exactly how this was going. Not well. And he was sure she was really wicked cool, undearneath, or even not underneath, he didn't know. All he knew was that he was terrible at speaking to pretty much... everyone. Of course, nothing was as bad as how he became around Radella, the ravenclaw princess, but still. Hopefully Olivette hadn't heard or seen anything about that. The last thing he could do with right now is another girl trying to encouragingly tell him to just go up to her and blurt out how he felt. Hard to do that when he even managed to trip while standing still whenever she walked past. Sigh.

Vet understood the value of spending time outdoors. She also understood it could be somewhere that anyone could find inspiration. She wasn’t that creative as some of her peers who she had found were into art or music. She was more inclined to academics and athletics. There were some moments where she felt like that wasn’t even a question given that her mum was a former Quidditch player and her dad was a healer. Maybe she only had those avenues to explore for what she would be doing after school. It wasn’t decided for her. Vet hoped her parents would be supportive of her, regardless of what she chose to do once she finished school.

While she still had some time to decide, she knew she had to work her way to some goal. If only it was so easy to decide what you wanted to do for the rest of her life. She knew that with Quidditch came fame and money but it was also a short-lived career. She also had to think about having children one day and when that could happen. She knew that her mum had managed that well enough as had Belladonna Watson but she was not them, she was her own person and she was capable of doing her own thing.

She did enjoy walking around the school but when she did so, Vet suffered from getting lost in her thoughts. At least for the moment, she wasn’t thinking about a certain wizard for whom she had feelings for but he didn’t return them. It was the less painful train of thought for her. She didn’t mind that he didn’t like her that, Vet didn’t expect him to. Her friend was free to fancy whoever she wanted. If only she hadn’t kissed him all those years ago, maybe she would be able to move on now.

Seeing the Gryffindor standing before her made her think that he was up to something. Maybe because she knew what house he was in, she went directly to making the assumption, which Vet knew as dangerous. It wasn’t fair on Hades at all. ”Yes, that’s me” Well at least she didn’t have to introduce herself. Even though you went to school with someone for 8-9 months of the year, didn’t always mean you knew who they were.

”Just going for a walk….” she shrugged as she pulled out her gum packet. ”Do you want a piece?” she asked holding it towards him. No one was able to say that Olivette Buchanan didn’t have manners. While she played a ‘roughish’ position on the house team, she was gracious away from it. Heck, she had to be with being a nurse intern at Mungo’s.

Hades Moore was attractive enough but that was where her opinion of him stopped because she didn’t know him very well. Vet smiled at him and turned and looked over the mountains before them and sighed. If he continued on his way to wherever he was going she would be lost in her thoughts soon enough, if he stopped, then she would have a distraction.
