@torryn
If there was one thing that Claude put above his obsessions with drinking and women and smoking, it was his passion for his work. He knew that he had a lot of responsibility. When it came to the clash between blood statuses, he tried to remain neutral. He did get protective over his close female friends'but he had been friends with so many of them for so long that it was impossible for him not look out for her. He didn’t take it upon himself to smother because he knew that they were capable of looking after themselves. But there were times he stepped in when would step in for her when they were out on mission.  He was sure that even their colleagues could tell that, Torryn for example.

He could get away with protecting her more because the other witch didn’t know when he was protecting her because she didn’t know him as some other girls did. But then again, maybe she was picking up on him. They had been on a few missions together and today was another one they had together. He was going to have to travel by floo up to Glasgow for this one. He hated the added time he had to factor in when travelling places now, with his magic gone. Claude knew he was being over dramatic given that he was complaining about a ‘first world problem’. There were muggleborns out there who were oppressed and had on top of that, they had lost their magic. But at least he could still get places faster than muggles who weren’t even aware of the existence of magic.

Some women in his life would tell him to pull his head in if they got wind of his ’first world problem’ affliction. They knew how to reign him in and he was probably the only person he would let do that to him. He wondered if Torryn would do the same. He would find out. Claude had arrived at the ministry at a more appropriate time. There were days he could get himself together and be where he had to be at the right time.

His morning had just moved seamlessly and that allowed Claude to be at his desk early then some of his other colleagues getting in the morning. He was staring at the pile of files of completed cases on his desk when he saw Torryn arrive. Sitting up a little, he held up his hand to wave. ”Morning, looks like I’m your companion today…...I’ll try my best to behave” he smirked as he handed over the file for their case today to her.

It just one of those, one of those days
oh, oh, oh, What can I say?

This job was dangerous and it was easy to forget that sometimes, it was easy to forget how easily life could be lost. She had lost Greyson because of it. Even though his heart still beat, even though he was still there and she could see him and smell him and touch him; it wasn' Greyson. He was not the man that she had fallen in love with. He was not the one that she had known for so long, he was not the man that had fathered her child. He was a stranger, one how looked and sounded like Greyson. She wanted to be free of this, of all of it. She was tired of having this pain and was spending more time at work than she should and she knew that it was not worth her life, but she loved her job, and she loved her kid and giving her the life that she deserved was the most important thing to Torryn.

It was hard to believe that she was already almost two, June was steadily approaching and nothing would make her happier than to have Greyson being himself by then, but she had to listen to Elijah and let it happen. She trusted him and knew that he was right. He had been through it all after all, and if he could come back to this from the brink then so could Greyson. She just wasn't patient enough for it. She didn't have time to look after him and after their kid.

The morning had gone roughly, and her child had had a meltdown because Torryn told her that she couldn't have the gigantic purple in her bow for daycare. Of course, this made her feel like a horrible mother, which was just how she liked to start her days, really. She wore an outfit she knew that she could work in, did a french tuck on her shirt, added boots that had a heel but were easy to run in, should she need it, and then she headed out to drop Hunter at daycare. She didn't trust Greyson to watch her.

Arriving a little late, but with coffee, a muffin and a bagel sandwich for her breakfast she smiled when she saw Claude wave at her. Aw, boo. She had hoped for Elijah for her new case, but she just needed to vent about Greyson, and she knew that Claude could never understand what she was going through with him. She laughed and opened her drawer and put on her badge before sitting down and getting her food out of the bag then took the file. "Something easy, I hope?"

When it came to his work, Claude definitely liked to approach it with a more serious attitude. He knew there was great responsibility that came with being an Auror and it was nothing something that anyone could take lightly. He knew some people thought it was impossible for him to be serious about anything but he knew how to switch moods and perspectives when required. He was capable of being empathetic one moment and flirty in another moment. But Claude had not become an Auror for anyone else but him. There were some people who lived up to the expectations of their parents but that wasn’t the case with Claude. He was capable of a lot and he wanted to prove that to himself before he anyone else.

He knew that at this moment there was very little he could do when it came to helping the muggleborns. While he knew he would never fully understand what they were going through or feeling, Claude tried to help them where he could. He was not so self-absorbed that he just discounted everyone but himself. He was capable of some great things, he just to believe he was capable of them and he had to put effort into the what he wanted.

Claude had his degree under his belt so at least when he got to old for being an Auror and it wore him out too much. He knew that others would to expect him to be a History buff but that was exactly what he was. He loved to visit places and he knew he to keep his excitement to a minimum when he had a case that involved visiting some historic manor or other monument. But normally during those situations he could focus on the job at hand. Even if there was attractive witness or victim at hand, he knew how to control himself. Claude just wished he was given a lot more credit.

But he knew respect was to dished out easily, it was something earned. He had worked hard to earn and he was all to well aware that one move or mistake could meant that he could lose all respect and when it came to his work, there was too much at stake.

He tried to maintain a good rapport with all his colleagues but was also aware that meant that not everyone had to like him in return, nor did he expect that from everyone. They just to work together to solve or close the case at hand. He hoped that Torryn didn’t mind he was her partner today, but he would see how the day went for the both of them.

”I’ll let you be the judge of that” he said to her as he sat back in his seat and let her open the file and look over the details. ”Not up for a challenge today?” he questioned as he crossed his arms across his broad chest.
