you would cry too
if it happened to you

Date:May 17th
Location: Terri's house
She didn't know why she was even doing this, other than the fact that he had no one else to do this for him. She was still angry with him, of this there was no doubt. She was tired of his lying, of him being withdrawn and just acting like he didn't even care. She was a grown woman now, and she had a baby to take care of. Meaning she didn't have the time of day to babysit the father of her child. She was coming up on when she had to take her NEWTs, she had to enroll in college, she had a life to lead that no longer included begging for Sebastian Lopez's attention. She had been his girlfriend, not his mother, and she was not going to act like it. She had not made the choice that he had lightly, she had put so much thought into letting him go, on telling him to get out of her parents home. He was the love that she had had since she was, the one that meant the most to her over everyone else, other than their daughter.

She would have given anything to make sure that he knew that she loved him. SHe would have given anything to make him love her the way that she had loved him, but it was better this way. It was better knowing that she would never have to beg for his affections again. She was still young, and though she had not really ever thought about having to find someone else, to live a life that did not have him in it like that, Terrianne was finding herself. She had goals, she had dreams and she was going to raise their child and reach for those stars. She was not going to give up. She was not going to give them up just because he acted like an idiot.

Today she was having Bash over for his birthday. She was making his favorite dinner and had even baked him a cake. Not his favorite but it was hers. She had to get something out of this arrangement, right? Payton was sitting in the bouncer that she had placed on the counter and was snoozing, a bottle was nearby so if she started crying she could stop cooking to feed her. Breastfeeding had not worked out well so she had switched to the formulas, It was easier on her, and made feedings easier as well. Turning off the stove as things finished she picked up Payton and bounced her softly, kissing her daughters dark auburn curls.

The knock came to the door and she pulled her wand from her pocket and waved it, saying the incantation to unlock it then called softly. "It's open, Bash."

SHIN OF ADOX
Bash was not sure why Terrianne had invited him over. Sure it was his birthday, and he didn't have anyone he wanted or could spend it with. He had honestly accepted that he would be spending his birthday by himself, and if anyone was going to suggest any sort of celebration, he was sure the last person to do so was Terri. Well, Mr. Weasley might actually be the last person he would expect, but the man's hatred towards Bash was something he would have to deal with at another time. He didn't turn down the invitation for dinner. Just because he thought he was going to be by himself doesn't mean he wanted to. He also was glad about it because it got him out of asking if he could come by and see Payton. His daughter was the only family he had besides Bella, who was in England. Bella had exams coming up and her internship. She needed to focus on that.

Terri also had exams, which was why Bash wasn't pushing anything. She didn't need any of his drama while she had things of her own to focus on. And while she did that he would work on himself. Continuing his efforts to become someone Payton could rely on in the future. He wanted to be able to support his daughter. He hoped he would get a chance to prove himself to Terrianne. The day Payton was born he knew that he had to grow up and grow up fast. She was so small, and all he wanted to do was protect her. But he couldn't do that with the way he had been. He had already left Quidditch, but it was time to get a job and have a career where he wasn't hundreds of meters off the ground.

Bash went to grab the door handle and walk into Terri's home as if it was still his own. Pulling his hand away, he loosened his tie and undid the top button. Usually, before going over to Terri's on a day he was working, Bash would make time to stop at home and change into more comfortable clothes. However, a meeting had run much longer than anticipated. Bash had no time to go home and get out of his work clothes. He was frustrated by this for sure. He hated the whole business suit attire and was yet to get used to it. He knocked on the door. Hearing Terri's voice, he opened the door. "Hey," He walked further into the place heading straight for the kitchen. "Spaghetti?" he guessed. Bash wasn't all that complicated. Spaghetti was the way to win over his stomach. A grin came to his face when he saw Terri holding Payton. "Is that my little girl?" Bash smiled. He went to hold Payton's hand and let her tiny hand wrap around his pointer finger. "How's everything?" He looked up to Terri.

This was her ex that she had invited over for dinner, but he was also the father of the baby girl that she held in her arms. She was tired of thinking about the past, and about the things that had gone wrong. The past not going to dictate who she was, but it was going to help build who she would become. Stronger, smarter, better. This would not destroy her, it would not knock her down. She was like the Phoenix and would bloody well rise! Bash had been someone that she loved and he had hurt her so many times now, but she did not want to let him go. She did not want to see him move on with his life, but this was for Payton.

Terrianne was sure of what she wanted in her life, and what she did not, and there was one thing for sure; she wanted to be the guide for her daughter for how a woman should be treated, and how a relationship that as healthy should look like. Though she loved her parents, Terri had not had that when she was younger, if anything it had been toxic for them both. Now though, things were better, and things were going to be good for her parents. Their issues were fixed, but Terri did not want to go down that path. She did not want to be a single mother, but she had to be one now. Not for anything but Payton.

"Figured I would make your favorite for your birthday since your Mami is in Spain..." She said with a small smile and looked at their daughter in her arms before meeting his eyes and lingering for a moment before turning her eyes and trying to hide her blush with her hair. "Things are okay, filled out paperwork for school after I take my NEWTs next month. Going to start looking for a job soon. " She said before placing their baby girl into his arms and then set about finishing dinner. "We have a healer appointment with her for a check up on the twenty-third, if you aren't too busy or anything. " She said before looking over her shoulder.

She tried to spend as little time with him as she could, it was too painful to do so, too many memories of how things had been and of what might have been for them. Swirling her long hair around she put it up on the back of her head with a clip and checked on the cheesy garlic bread. "I got stuff for salads too, if you want one."
