The blue of the early morning swallowed the windows of the Great Hall. The soft whispers of a few other students rising and falling over their teas and breakfast. The scent of sausages rose off her plate. It was a simple meal but one of her favorites. The sweet, maple smell brought her right back to her mother’s kitchen. It wasn’t that she did not enjoy the splendors of Hogwarts cuisine, but meals that reminded her of home were more than special. They were essential. Ollie finally pushed her Guide to Advanced Transfiguration aside and wrapped her thin hands around the nearby mug of coffee, warming them immediately. Her studies had been getting the better of her an exhaustion pulled at her hazel eyes, a result of locking herself in the library all night. She had been practicing an Inanimatus Conjurus Spell which she had been warned was difficult but she heeded no warning and dove into it. It was on those nights, where her memories were more painful than usual that she fully, almost obsessively divulged her studies in Transfiguration. It gave her a sense of control, changing one thing into another. It wasn’t just a bad habit, especially now that she was leader of the Transfiguration Club and had others depending on her to further their studies. Though it was for fun, for most of them, she took it quite seriously and only wanted to see improvement. She’d be damned if she didn’t become the best Transfiguration student Hogwarts had ever seen and it was an easy way to keep track of any rising competition.

Letting out a soft sigh she took a few bites of the sausages and quickly downed her coffee, wincing as the hot liquids burned. She detested the experience but she also was too impatient to wait for it to cool down and hated the smell just the same. It was what she needed to jolt her awake and keep her pressing for the rest of the day. It was Saturday, the term was coming to an end, but that did not mean that she didn’t have her own studies  to attend to… amongst other things.

None other than the sweet boy, Helenus, had been on her mind. She hadn’t seen much of him in the last few weeks which saddened her. She had grown a liking to the boy and was disappointed when she couldn’t join him and his family over the Holiday break. However they had written to each other which kept her heart at ease as she cared for her father who had fallen ill for a brief period of time. They were an odd pair of friends, that was for sure. He was gentle and she was… well not. Being one of the more stubborn witches, she never shared too much with him and let him do most of the talking while she gave critical feedback. However, there was an unspoken understanding of loss between them. An understanding that seemed to always soother her.

She took her mug in hand once again and closed her eyes. Taking this time to practice non-verbal spells she recounted one to herself. Upon opening them her mug was filled to the brim with a cup of tea, a choice that she did approve of. Pleased with herself and the simplicity of the spell she sipped at it carefully, taking in the morning and allowing herself to relax for just a moment before returning to the library.
