I told you so
told you some day you'd come
crawling back and asking me to take you in

It wasn’t like she ever planned on being stupid. Sabine hadn’t even gone anywhere. She didn’t think that there had been any reason to worry about a few gin and tonics while she was working. And then Philip had called and said that they were all going to go out if she wanted to meet them. They were family as much as they were her friends, and she hadn’t thought that it was a terrible idea. At least not until she realized that not only was Opium packed, her ex-husband was there. And that had been when the night had started to go downhill.

She didn’t know why no one was policing how much she had had to drink, and by no one, she most certainly meant herself. Normally she was so much smarter than that. Normally she would have left, but she hadn’t left. She hadn’t even backed away from him when he had found her in the crowd. She had thought that his eyes were going to skim right over her, but they hadn’t. And somehow she had ended up laughing, and that was when things had gotten worse. He shouldn’t have been able to make her laugh. Because they were divorced, and clearly their lives did not align.

She wanted what he couldn’t give her. And she knew that. She knew that she was power hungry, and she was aggressive, and she had wanted to treat his music career like the business that he should have been treating it as all along. She could have made him a bigger star. She was sure of it. If she could have gotten him away from his mother and gotten a leash on that band. But that wasn’t her problem anymore. And when he had talked to her, she shouldn’t have answered him. She should have just walked away.

But she hadn’t walked away. She had laughed, and danced, and she had had a good time. Which had been the point of the evening in the first place, but it certainly hadn’t been the answer to end up doing it with her ex-husband. They should have stayed kilometers apart. Separate countries did them well. But that wasn’t the case last night, and Sabine knew that the last thing that either one of them needed was headlines if people saw them back together. She would always be the youngest CEO of a financial institution in Great Britain, and he would always be Tib Duke.

They were not good for one antoher, or they hadn’t been. Before all of this. But she didn’t think that would have changed. There was only the one thing that they had ever been any good at at all. And either it was the gin that had gone to her head, or whatever was floating around in his, but somehow, they had ended up here, in her bed. And she didn’t quite know what to do with that. They had rarely spent any time at Wynridge when they were married. And she had brought him back here last night.

Who was supposed to be making sure that she didn’t do anything stupid? Shagging her ex-husband was stupid. The fact that she was twenty-one years old and had an ex-husband was a testament to her apparent need to make a string of bad decisions one after another when she was intoxicated, and purebloods were around. Not that she could really blame it on him being a pureblood. Because that wasn’t his fault. But they were everything that she wanted to be. She wanted that name. She wanted that influence. She wanted it to set Larsen Economics that much higher.

They were already the top financial institution in Wales. She wanted all of Great Britain. And she knew that she could get it. She could exactly what she wanted, if she played her cards right, and she kept her head on straight. Convincing a Slughorn to fall in love with her would have been the best thing that she could have done, but she didn’t think the younger one was that stupid, and she knew better than to go for the elder. She wasn’t out to ruin a bloodline. Just to make her mother proud of what she had done with her own.

Rolling over onto her back Sabine sighed as she bumped her leg into Tib’s. “Are you awake?” He wasn’t snoring, but that didn’t mean that he wasn’t still asleep. So long as he was still breathing, she thought that was probably the most important thing. She had no idea what all he had had in his system last night, and if he was dead, then she would really have headlines that they didn’t need.

And suppose I cried and said
"I think I finally learned my lesson"

Mistakes were things that were easily made. Things that could not be taken back just the same though. Most of his adult life Tiberius had fought to be nothing like his father. To be a man who was someone that he could be proud of. It was all that he wanted to do. He wanted to shne brighter than his father and step out of the man's shadow. He was finding though that this task was not as simple as he wanted it to be. He didn't think that he could keep doing this all on his own. He didn't want to keep doing things this way, and he had told his mother that, and she had not reacted well. They were going to have dinner the next day and he had a lot that he was going to have to do but that meant getting out of his bed, which was oddly more comfortable than he remembered it.

That happened to him though, when he drank too much. He would forget where he was and blackout but good ole Van always made sure he made it back home. After all, he was the brains of the operation and though Van was the looks they both knew who it was who had all of the good ideas. Last night testified to that. Though, he should have learned by now, partying with Justin was asking for times like this. Luxx knew how to party to excess and that was all he needed right then and here. He needed a reminder that he was human, that he could make mistakes, but not remembering last night after a breakup... was bad.

He wanted to wake up and find that he was in bed with Winona, that she had found him and knocked some sense into his ass, because he loved her, even when he didn't want to admit it. His dreams had proven that to him, and he was not sure that he could ever get over wanting her. He shifted in the bed and rubbed a hand over his face before cracking an eye then looking over his shoulder at the woman behind him. Seeing the familiar blonde hair he sighed. "What the fuck, Justin." He sighed and closed his eyes before lifting the blanket and groaning before laying on his back. Good Morning to you too, Sab."
