Perfect by nature
Never was and never will be
Have you no shame don't you see me
You know you've got everybody fooled
Date: June 5th 8:15PM
Location: Carl's Clubhouse

Each week Romilda got to pick one night where she did what she wanted. She could go out to dinner or go to a movie or have a few drinks. She was free to do whatever it was that she wanted and she would not be bothered by anything else really. Romilda had made up her mind that she was going to be a mother to this child, she was going to take care of her baby girl because that is what Brian would have wanted. He would have wanted her to be the best mother that she could be, to be someone that her kid could be proud of. It was a lot that she was trying to do and even more that she was going to have to change, but she was trying. For her daughter. For herself. She wanted this. She had to see that she could do this.

Ame was amazing and perfect and so smart. Romilda saw that there was something in her daughter was pure and good and bright. She wasn’t going to ruin that with the ways that she had lived for so long. Romilda refused to make her daughter feel the way that she had for so much of her life. She didn’t want that for her baby girl. Ame was with a sitter and she was at Carl’s Clubhouse. She had a club soda before her, she was trying this mostly sober thing for a while, but she didn’t quite feel like being alone right now. She had no one to talk to at home beside the sitter and being out in public made her feel better. Usually, she would go to the studio or write new songs, but she was taking a break from all that to be a real mom, a real person she didn’t know how to just be a person anymore that didn’t involve music.

It was doing her head in really, but she pushed the thoughts to the back of her mind as her order of fries came to be placed before her. Cheesy gooey fries made things better. Was she going to have to work harder at the gym to work these off? Yes. Was it worth it? YES.

[attr="class","tweedles"]Bars and pubs were Zach's natural habitat, the places he felt most at home, despite their frequent lack of decent vegetarian options. It was the beer, he knew, and he accepted that. He was German, after all, despite attending school in France for seven years and traveling all over for a time after that. Still, bars and pubs reminded him of home, just a bit, and there was usually at least one option on the menu that wasn't entirely distasteful to him, even if that option was more-often-than-not a salad. Occasionally there was pizza, which he gladly ordered without any meat, but those times tended to be rare. Few understood his lifestyle choices, being a criminal for hire--occasionally a murderer, for enough money--and a vegetarian didn't often translate, and many wondered over how he could kill humans but balk at consuming animals. Truthfully, it had nothing to do with the animals, he wasn't avoiding meat out of some desire to save the animals, and he didn't care if anyone else ordered and ate meat around him. He just...didn't like it. Never had, really. The sisters at the orphanage hadn't understood it either, but they'd respected his tastes as best they could within their budget, which he was grateful for, and in return he'd done his best to stomach a little meat on the days they couldn't afford to make him something special. Usually, his stomach protested more than his taste-buds, which was also a large reason he avoided meat as well.

It being summertime, Zach had an easier time finding salads in good taste, with the greens in season and at their best. Still, he couldn't eat salad all the time; he'd end up protein deficient if he did, among other nutrients, which would seriously affect...everything, really. So, beans and rice were a classic and inexpensive substitute for protein, which most places offered in some form or another. If he was extra lucky, they had legitimate vegetarian options in the form of burgers made from beans or soy-based protein. Being nutrition conscious, Zach did try not to eat too much soy-based food, because too much of it could affect the body's hormone balance, but sometimes it was unavoidable.

Carl's was...not really a favorite, but still a frequent haunt of his. With it being so popular with the younger crowd, they had more vegetarian friendly options to cater to the youth's 'avocado-vegan' trend, which made them a better option for food, but not necessarily the best option for beer. Which was why they weren't a favorite, but still a frequent haunt. Zach slid into a seat at the bar, near a woman apparently drinking a club soda, but it may have been mixed with any number of things--not that Zach was judging either way, he was simply perceptive. He waved down the bartender to order a light beer--whatever they had on tap--and a beyond burger California style with fries. The beer arrived frothy and cold, and Zach took a refreshing sip with a sigh. Work was...lighter than it used to be in the summer, but busier than it has been since the Epidemic swept through and took everybody's magic. It made sense, if the kids were at school most of the year, they didn't have a chance to expose muggles, but as soon as school let out for the summer? All bets were off. It was an adjustment, to say the least. Most of the time, they were catching up on all the paperwork they never had time to do before the Epidemic, but in the summer? There was less of that, which in a way was exciting, because Zach hated paperwork, but also exhausting for obvious reasons. He let his head rest on the bar-top with a soft thunk, "Somebody remind me why I chose my job?"
