Albright Dagda Desmond
355 - Male - Halfblood - 11/28/1660

Designer; Interior Decoration and Fashion | Painter | Sculpter

Appearance and Personality
General Appearance: Albright is forever twenty-one. A handsome lad Albright's entrancing brown eyes caught the heart of many in his days past, though now he only has eyes for his husband. An Irishman through and through Albright shares the pale, schokingly pale now, skin and red hair of his kin. He always has a smile on his face and an uplifting comment at hand.
Sexual Orientation: Degare Homosexual
Skills: murder design, painting, fashion, decoration, sculpting, if it needs an artistic eye he is all over it. While he's also a great cook and adores making artistic dishes, he is by no means a house husband. He fluently knows multiple languages and happens to be working on a few more in his free time. As an added bonus he's good at anything involving Degare. All things involving Degare, especially convincing Degare to stay home with him
Weaknesses: Degare Bentclyff, he's incredibly jealous and possessive regarding his husband, his exes also happen to be a weak spot for him, kids; he might be indifferent towards humans but he adores kids. Thunderstorms, yes he is over three centuries old and a creature of the night but he is fucking terrified of thunderstorms, okay?
Positive Personality Traits: Gentle, sweet, protective, observant, helpful, intelligent, bright
Negative Personality Traits: Jealous, easily angered, territorial (if you come into his home uninvited he will actually eat you), snide, proud, easily upset, picky, conniving
Hobbies and Interests: Painting, Degare, art, finding new art, watching his husband work, playing with children,
Character History:
Born in the 17th century to a loveless family Albright showed signs of magic from the day he was born. It was in his blood, from both sides no matter how his father would deny it. But he was smart enough to learn early on that his father was not a good man. Not for him or his mother, however he was also smart enough to know there wasn't a thing he could do about it. With a sister born three years his junior he lived ruled by the hand of his father. He was too skinny, too clumsy, cared too much for animals and didn't hunt well enough. There wasn't a thing he could do, would do, to earn his father's approval and to this day he still wonders if his father would've ever loved him. At eleven years old he got his first taste of freedom in the form of a Hogwarts letter.

It was a strange school by anyone's standards, and Albright still flinched when something passed too close to his head, still shot back when something moved too fast, but he was getting better. The boy had been the longest hatstall on record at his time, the pointy, snarky, hat muttering about decisions, decisions, all the while until declaring young Albright a Hufflepuff at heart. He had no quarrel with it, his house was warm and loving, there was always food to be had and his friends were loyal to the end. Albright was delighted every day he spent with his new friends, and his house pride extended to the point of bringing his scarf nearly everywhere with him. At least until he was old enough to deem that strange, in which case he began carrying it in a satchel instead. But all good things must come to an end, in terms of his favourite scarf it was scarified upon being dropped down the staircases while Albright stole his first kiss from Albert Baum (however Albert later bought him a new one because the disappointment on Albright's face had been too much to handle). In terms of his life in general, it had also been that first kiss that brought the beginning of the end. The two stayed a secret, best as they honestly could, until their seventh year when none other than Edmund Desmond, Albright's father, found out. The boys couldn't lie their way out of being caught kissing rather amorously beneath a cherry blossom tree.

Albright found graduation upon him far too soon and then he was back at the hand of his father. Despite many arguments and protests, his little sister even getting involved, Edmund declared Albright to marry by the fall. Not just to marry, however, but to marry the Squib sister of Albert. There wasn't a joyous smile in the chapel on the union of Albina Baum and Albright Desmond. The very day the pair were married saw the start of Albright's now illicit affair with Albert. If anything Albright would would say the following years were the worst of his life, the only shining lights being Sabia and Fredrik, but the man couldn't deny that there were days he couldn't stand to look at his own children. This was not the family he had wanted, and his children were a daily reminder of the trauma that had occurred at the first of his marriage. He had thought better of Albina, but at the threat of Edmund Albright supposed anything was possible. Even that. That which he refused to ever mention aloud. Because his father had Albright wasn't man enough, that-- that was the worst event in his life.

Well, perhaps it fell even with watching his father draw a sword on Albert and permanently ending their affair with the blood of Albright's lover covering the floor.

Drinking his sorrows away at twenty-one in a pub just out of town, far from his 'home', Albright met Leo. The man was, in a way, everything he was looking for. And an escape, because as the night went on Leo told him he would take Albright away from it all. He would keep him safe, make him feel loved, forever. That night Albright died, and he didn't have a single regret. Unlike many Albright's transition came with ease, he had Leonardo at his side all the while, teaching him, guiding him. And loving him as was promised. For nearly a hundred and fifty years the pair travelled the world in a bloody bliss. Everywhere they went death was left in their wake, Leo was the one who proposed, and Albright was so sure he was in love that he accepted without hesitation. But when Leo wanted to keep going Albright wanted to settle down, he wanted a calmer life. In Paris he stopped them, telling his fiancee how he wanted a life, not a series of lives running from place to place. There had been a fight, one Albright could only remember in fragments before the man he loved pushed a bit too hard and Albright fell from the bridge where they stood to the river below.

He survived, Albright was a survivor if nothing else, and he ran. Into the night he went without a single word or sign to Leo who tried his hardest to search the river for Al. Leaving his ring along with his hopes for a future with Leo at Pont Neuf.

Five years Albright ran, time went so differently when he had eternity, but living on his own was hard for the vampire. Having already spent years on years with another vampire Albright knew better than to form human attachments but his wishes had been true. In Germany he settled for quite the while, taking up not only the arts, of which he had been in love with for decades, but also design. For as much as Albright had broken, had been broken, he found it was easier to find joy in creation. In a tiny village he set up shop, creating sculptures of creatures and humans alike, painting life and death, and selling pieces for a pretty penny. Years of this and he had a reputation as a strange but charming man that lived a bit far from most, and only came out at night.

Then he met Degare. If it wasn't love at first sight it was certainly lust. The older vampire was dark, cynical, and Albright wanted to be the one to make him smile. Al was just over 200 when they met, the sting of Leo long since gone. Degare, he later found out, had his favourite smile. One that he dedicated more than enough paintings to. (He never had enough paintings of his husband.)

With Degare he got what he wanted, a life in London with a loving husband and a thousand creations waiting at his fingertips.

Plots and Politics
Where does your character stand in the treatment of death eaters and their families? He doesn't care. If children are involved he cares, but if not he really couldn't spare it a thought.

How was your character and their family affected by the reign and death of Voldemort? He wasn't, though he often sneers at the fear many felt from one so young as Tom Riddle had been.

Family
Parents: Cordula Desmond (née Flater, deceased) Edmund Desmond (deceased)
Siblings: Fritzi (younger sister, deceased)
Children: Sabia, (daughter, died at 78) Fredrik, (son, died at 60) Patrick W. (son in law, died at 77)
Partner: Albina Baum (ex-wife, mother of his children, forced marriage, deceased), Albert Baum (fling, illicit affair, deceased), Leonardo Petra (Vampire, Turned Him, ex-fiancee) Peter Malkai (ex-boyfriend, deceased)
Other Relevant Family: Quite possibly the Weasleys, though he has no use of actually looking into it
Family History:
Edmund was a strong man with no patience for anything out of order, born in Germany to a common family he was the eldest child of five. His bias was bred deep, but he knew the order of things and believed that to be just how things were to go. When it came time for him to provide for a family he enlisted in the army without a second thought, and when declaration came of the witch trials he felt only disgust at his sister as she was brought by her red hair to the midst of the madness. His sister was a witch, a mere thought he found revolting.

This all took place in the 30 Years War, however, and while Edmund strongly believed in the proper order of things, he also believed in keeping his own ass out of the fire. Without a glance back he fled to Ireland.

Cordula was born to a family of witches and wizards, living peacefully in a small cottage far from town. She wasn't a particularly social creature but she wasn't near harsh either. On the rare trip she took to market she willingly allowed conversation to flow, even though she much preferred the company of her own kind to Muggles. It was on one rare trip that she crossed paths with Edmund. In all honesty she found him rather charming at first. Certainly charming enough to show him around the town... however returning with him to the Inn he was staying at hadn't been a part of her plan. Neither had spending the night, nor finding herself carrying his child.

While she may have been many things even Cordula refused to bring the shame of giving birth to a bastard child upon her family and she agreed to marry Edmund.
