All of Me
@cali
Samuel was more than happy for school to be done with for the year, he could now recharge in the time he had off and spend it with Calli and look after her and their unborn baby. Something he had been looking forward to for weeks now. Of course there was something else he had been looking forward too . And that of course was asking Calli to marry him. It had been so long since the man had been nervous like this but again he would only be doing this once in his life and so he had to make it special. He knew no matter how he asked her she would say yes, well he hoped that would be the answer. He was sure it was. Normally the Head of Gryffindor was so confident in his thinking but this had his mind chopping and changing so much. It was any wonder he had made it through the whole day in their flat without saying anything. It was a miracle really that he hadn’t fumbled or given away too much by way of their dinner plans. No doubt he knew that Calli would be curious and probably suspicious too but he was not going to mention anything to her. Samuel was treating this as just a nice dinner out for them.

He had decided that only when the moment was right would the actual proposal happen. Well that’s how he had hoped it would happen and also how he had organised it with the maitre d’ and hopefully it all carried through like clockwork. If it didn't at least they would have had a memorable night. But he really hoped it was memorable for the right reasons. He could have held off the proposal for a little while and asked her at Christmas or at New Year’s eve but that was far to cliche for the man and he was not that. Well most of the time he wasn’t. He would probably be so tonight though. And no doubt his witch would find that funny. But they were moving on with their life together. They were about to have their first Christmas together and the last too before the baby was born. No doubt Easter for them would be memorable too.

He was going through all these stages in his life and his sister was not around still. She had been for a little bit before she had disappeared again and now he had no way to contact her. He knew this was hard on their mum but he could only do so much. But he knew that he had Hannah’s support and no doubt she would love her niece or nephew whenever they happened to meet. He would like that to be sooner rather than later but time would tell with that for now. He and Calliope had dinner to get to. They had flooed to London, well his mother’s house and picked up his car and he had driven them to the restaurant. It was the same restaurant where he taken her on one of their first dates.

The man wrapped his around her waist as they made their way inside. “I’m so glad i get to treat you again like this….its been too long” he grinned before giving his name to maitre d’ and following them to the table. He pulled out Calli’s chair for her and smiled at her before he adjusted his tie and took his seat opposite her.

It had been a few days since her most recent scan and unfortunately for the witch the appointment had fallen up a time when Samuel hadn't been able to come but at the same time she was pleased, after attending the appointment she'd finally discovered the gender of their baby, they were having a boy and Calliope couldn't be happier with the result, of course the witch hadn't had any preferences for the gender but now that she knew for definite, there was a certain comfort in it and being able to refer to their baby as 'he' instead of 'it', it made the entire situation far more real and she was excited.

Today had been odd, but amusing for the witch, Samuel had been so out of it, pacing and stuttering. The normally organised and confident wizard wasn't able to figure one thing from the next. It had kept her entertained and she was a little disappointed that it was finally over. When Samuel had told her where they were going she was beyond surprised, the fact he'd remembered where they'd gone for their first date after they'd had so many dates and then to add to that, he'd went out of his way to bring her here again... well she was beginning to question what was going on. She knew that he'd been having a hard time recently with work and family and she questioned if part of him taking her out and going all out to treat her was for his sake as much at hers, but she was sceptical.

It had been nice to see Carol, even if it was only for a brief amount of time. Ever since she'd got into a relationship with Samuel, his mother had taken on an almost maternal role with Calli and she would never admit it, but it moved her deeply and she had a different level of love and respect for the matriarch, it was just unfortunate that she didn't have a mother of her own to have this bond with but Carol had been sure to make her loved and welcome from the very first day.

Standing outside the restaurant she looked up at him with a grin and relaxed into his arms, reaching up to kiss him as they walked with a little giggle, it was crazy how easily Samuel made her heart swell. "And I'm already loving every moment." She murmured softly as they walked inside, glancing briefly at the maitre d' and allowing Samuel to guide her to their table, she grinned when he pulled a chair out for her and brushed her hand over her dress before sitting down. She watched Samuel take his seat and tucked her hair behind her ear. "So I have news if you're interested... in involves our little one." She began, settling her gaze on him. "I know what we're having if you're interested." She trailed off, biting her lip.

Now that he had more time on his hands Samuel had tried to make sure that tonight of all nights was going to go well. He had called the restaurant a few times to make sure it would all go ahead without a hitch. Of course if there was to be some kind of problem it would probably inject a load of humour into their night and when it came to tell their child how he proposed a lot of laughs would be had. However while at home Samuel had tried to remain calm and collected though that had been a seemingly hard task for the normally over confident man. Obviously Calli would have noticed, he had even seen her giggling at his fumbles. While Samuel enjoyed the sound of her giggle, he would rather not be stumbling over himself too much and inadvertently give away he was going to propose to her.

Samuel knew he had missed the most recent appointment at St Mungo’s. The wizard had tried to be there for every appointment but the last was the one he had missed attending and he regretted it. He had tried to put aside how upset he was with himself and instead he had tried to focus on tonight. Spending time like this with his witch had been rare in recent weeks and he was going make the most of if and score himself an early Christmas present in the mix to. Well that was how he saw it.

When he had told Calliope that they were going to dinner at the restaurant he had taken her to on their first date, he knew he had immediately raised suspicions in her mind. Why else would he take here there? He only hoped she didn’t work it out for herself but he couldn't see how she could, it's not like he made it so obvious what he was going to do. While he had been a mess and forgetting what he had to do next, at least he had practiced the art of subtlety when he contacted the restaurant and also when he been owled his mum to tell her that they would be coming by floo to her house on their way to dinner.

Samuel loved to see just how much love his mum showed Calli, he knew that she was not doing it simply because his girlfriend had grown up without a mum but rather because his mum saw the good in all, of course since they were dating she was going to pour more affection on the brunette he called his own. Though their visit to his childhood home had been brief, it had still been nice and they would be back here in a week’s time for Christmas anyway. They were both getting a present each a week early.

After they were seated Samuel ordered water for them and smiled softly at Calli across the table. She looked as breathtaking as ever, it was amazing just how many times she made him speechless and knowing that she was carrying their child made her all the more sexy. The wizard made sure to tell her that as many times as he could. When she said she had news about their little one, his first thought that something was wrong but he hoped it wasn’t the case. However if that was the case, there would be no doubt they could handle it together. But she had news on what they were having instead, he felt his stomach drop. The last appointment had of course been where the healer would tell them if they were going to have a girl or a boy. Samuel was happy either way, their child being healthy and happy was his main priority. ”Oh yes, so will we having a little mister Copeland or a little miss Copeland?” he asked Calli, sounding more eager than he intended to. But he could hardly be blamed, he was about to become a father!.

One of the many things that made Calliope fall in love with Samuel every day was that he never failed to make her laugh or smile, he made he feel special and like she was the only girl in the world. When they left the house that day a certain sense of calm had come over her wizard, it had been so sudden like a light switch being flicked from on to off and she found that she could finally have a conversation with him where he wasn't falling over his words and repeating things over and over again.

Going alone to her appointment for the baby had been weird and it had spooked her a little, big things like that she had never done alone, ever and as a first time mother she had the fear of bad news and she'd been concerned that the one time her partner hadn't been there she would have received bad news which she had of course been wrong about, after all, her son never stopped moving and the constant sickness and migraines also made it very clear that he was very much healthy. Calli had considered asking her dad to go with her but she hadn't wanted to seem like a coward to him, but if she was honest, with every passing day she was getting slightly more fearful of April, Merlin knows what it would be like when she only had a couple of weeks to go.

Calliope had secretly been glad Samuel had been so distracted lately as she'd had one or two shooting pains which after thorough research she knew was nothing to be worried about, but she knew Samuel would probably panic and try to convince her to go to the hospital. However, after a small conversation with her healer, she had soon learnt that it was just a Braxton hick, something she knew from seeing Sophia's pregnancy was expected; she would have been lying if she said she didn't want them to stop but the pain hardly lasted so normally by that night she'd forgotten all about it.

Going out for dinner was definitely needed for the couple, ever since Halloween and her birthday things had been tense and after their last attempt at a date ended up into a double date – not that she had a problem with that – time together, just the two of them was well and truly needed. The restaurant having such meaning for the couple made the date even better for them, it gave them a chance to truly unwind in a very familiar and welcome environment. Being able to spend time with Carol beforehand had given Calli a sense of calm, although she had a feeling that she was hiding something from her, especially when the attention Carol gave her often happened when Samuel had to slip out. Calliope wasn't stupid, she knew something was going on, something big yet she couldn't quite think what. She had no doubt when she worked out whatever was going she'd slap herself, but she had the excuse of her mind was often preoccupied with thoughts of her son and the family's future.

The brunette leaned forward on the table and smiled at Samuel tenderly, reaching forward and resting her hand on top of his before entwining their fingers and brushing her lips across his knuckles, the evident eagerness in Samuel's voice made her heart swell once more and she giggled a little, ”Well, let's just say I'm going to be outnumbered in our house, two against one.” She said, looking at him through her lashes, ”We're having a son.” She repeated, the excitement creeping into her own voice.

Remaining calm was something that Samuel managed on daily basis relatively easily but it was different situation today. Asking someone to be your wife or husband was nerve wracking at best as anyone who has ever proposed to anyone would be able to attest to. But it was still a frightening prospect for the man and often very little scared him. He had seen too much in his life so far to be truly petrified. With the prospect of becoming a dad he was calm but with the prospect of asking Calliope to become his wife he was freaking out. Though for most of the day he had tried to keep up the act that he was fine but the spare moments he got to himself he felt like was having a mini melt down. Samuel was awfully glad that Calli had not been to observant of his odd behaviour today or she would have already questioned him ten times over and they would not be sitting in the restaurant right now.

Samuel only hoped that his witch was comfortable right now sitting in the restaurant. He was all to aware that their baby caused more than enough discomfort. It was unfortunate that there was little he could do except to give her a massage or get a pain relief potion for her. The wizard had spoken to his mum about it, basically seeking any help he could get. He would have consulted his best friend but he knew that Tiwaz had a lot on his plate since he had come back to London and his daughter was due any day now. So really the wizard just relied on his mum for advice or one of the many baby books they had at the flat. Samuel would often be caught out by Calli reading one after dinner. Though he didn’t mind her teasing him, if anything he was happy read any book he came across about babies if it helped him to know what to do when he finally had their little one in his arms. His mum had insisted that a parent would never know fully what to do when a baby arrived and Samuel understood that but he was just going to be prepared either which way.

The wizard loved spoiling the witch, though he still felt horrible for the last time he had tried to this and it had been a very unpleasant experience for all parties that night. But now they were here, just the two of them. There was no chance of anyone crashing in on tonight for them. Samuel would hex them to Russia if anyone he knew walked and decided to join them on the spur of the moment. No, he wanted it to just it to be them too, well their unborn child was there to but it all added to the evening in the wizard’s opinion. He was so lucky to have Calli in his life and more than excited to meet their baby in April. He knew she had her reservations about being a mum but his mum had reminded that she had felt the same way when she was expecting Samuel himself. The wizard didn’t know if that at all put Calli’s mind at ease but he hoped it did, even a little.

He felt terrible that he hadn’t at the appointment where the healer would tell him what they were having. Really was going to happy with a boy or a girl, as long as it was healthy and everything went smoothly into April and at the birth. Samuel smiled back at Calli, it was really so easy to do just that each time his gaze landed on her. He looked a little amused when she kissed his knuckles and was about to comment on it when her next words left him speechless. She was going to be outnumbered….outnumbered by he and…..his son! Samuel grinned instantly as he tried to speak, say anything at this point. ”A boy? I’m going to have a son? Sorry...we’re going to have a son!” he repeated just so he was sure he had heard her right. ”I can’t wait!” he said, stating the obvious, the grin remaining on his face as if it was affixed there with a permanent sticking charm.

It was rare for Calliope to be so relaxed about things, the witch had often found herself on edge for the past few months wanting everything to be perfect in her life, her relationship, her house and her future but somehow over the past few weeks, despite the slight upset and tension about the couple not getting time to themselves – properly they had managed to sort nearly everything that was needed, they'd had a house in their ownership for a while now but Calli had been against moving in until everything had been sorted and that meant the rooms being decorated, namely the nursery. Although they weren't living in their new home yet they'd been spending any free time they could and she was relieved that everything was nearly done. She'd been a little disheartened by the fact she couldn't do much for the nursery but she had enjoyed the outcome that Samuel was working on and she hoped that know they knew the gender they would be able to improve it.

The brunette could feel her wizards gaze on her and she glanced at him briefly with a small smile and felt a blush painting her cheeks, it surprised her that even after being together for quite a while, Samuel still managed to give her butterflies in her stomach, it was odd for her too really, she still found herself falling for him despite already being head over heels for him and Calli often found herself surprised that someone could have so much of an effect on her, she wondered if this was how it had been for her father and her mother and she hoped that were the case, even though Calli had never met her mum, the way her father spoke of her and the evident happiness memories brought to him she'd always taken that as being love of the deepest form and now that she was living it herself, it only furthered her beliefs that for once in her life she was doing something right by following her heart and not her beliefs.

Spending time with Carol, Calliope had found herself learning a number of things about being a mother and she was over the moon that she wasn't completely alone in learning, she had the guiding hand that she needed and whilst her father had always been her guide and taught her everything he knew now and even making her be the woman that she was today, assistance from another mother was welcome. She'd been fearful of Carol at first but had quickly come to love and dote on her the way she had hoped she would have with her own mother. It had taken 26 years, yet here she finally was with a mother and a father, although not in the traditional sense it was something she had never thought possible.

Calliope watched Samuel in amusement as he registered what she'd told him and she had to resist the urge to laugh at him, of course she'd told Carol and her father when she found out but she had never really found a suitable opportunity with Samuel, what with his stressing out and acting out it had never seemed a good enough time, yet here and now sat across from him it had been the definition of a perfect opportunity. Of course, she could have kept it quiet until he was actually born but it was something she had found increasingly difficult to keep to herself and so she had pretty much answered her own question on what to do by realising that keeping their sons gender had already been difficult to do and it had only been a few days.
She was worried at first that he hadn't heard her or that he wasn't happy with the news but when she caught sight of the smile she couldn't help but laugh a little and relax increasingly, ”That's right, our first is going to be a son...” She knew she probably sounded stupid by repeating it again but the fact of the matter was it was for herself as well, uttering those words had quickly become her favourite thing to do whether she just spoke them or thought them but managing to finally refer to their child as something more than just 'it' was something she could never tire of. ”Looks like we can finally take one of those baby name books and start looking.” She laughed, squeezing his hand and giving him a warm smile.

The day had been one where he and Calli had switched roles. He had been on edge for the last twenty four hours whereas she had been more relaxed than he had seen her in while. Though the wizard couldn't blame her really, he could only empathise so much when it came to expecting a baby. He was there by her side to see their child grow inside her but when it came to fully feeling what it would be like to be pregnant he could only go on what she told him or what he had seen. Samuel knew it was hard and he did feel slightly guilty at times but the two of them knew that in the end when April came around it would be worth. Samuel’s mum had told him to expect a wide variety of insults from Calli during the labour, Tiwaz had also told him much the same having recently been warned of the same by Sophia recently. Their daughter was due any day and Samuel knew his best friend was just as excited to meet his child as he was excited to meet his own. They were growing up and it was mind boggling to think back to when they first met in the midst of the Death Eaters at Hogwarts. It was repetition of history it seemed since there were members at the school once again.

While this worried him tremendously he was just worried as much for what he was about to do. Samuel was almost certain the beautiful witch would say yes but there was a sliver of doubt in his mind. It unnecessary to think in that frame of mind when it came to proposing to someone he didn’t think he would be that kind of man. Normally he was so confident and he was so articulate, everyone commented on his ability to carry himself and never let his guard down. Only a few people ever saw him for his true self and one of those people was Calli so there was no way he could have gotten away with his odd behaviour today. He was just grateful she hadn't questioned him on it, not yet anyway. She had the ability to do that tonight if she really wanted to. He had no way of getting away if he wanted to but he didn’t want to. Samuel would find some ounce of confidence at some point tonight and get down on one knee and asked to her to marry him.

It would be yet another event that his sister would miss out on. Samuel still had a sliver of hope that Hannah would return but then again he saw nothing that attracted her to come back to London or to be with the family again. Evidently, not even he and their mum was so much of a drawcard. Maybe he was overthinking this but then again his sister had always been one for dramatics. Samuel was more of a quieter soul, at least as an adult he was. He wondered if their child would inherit his rebellious nature and his love for getting up to mischief when he was younger. He knew if that was the case then Calli would never let him live it down. It would be driven by the fact that their son or daughter would have him as a professor so while they were at school they would never be away from one of their parents unlike their classmates. Samuel had no intention of giving up his tenure at Hogwarts either. While their child or children may not like him being there, it would essentially for their safety, especially if things didn’t correct themselves from how the magical world was at present.

Samuel deeply regretted every mistake he had made with Calli’s pregnancy so far. He had missed out on so much already and he felt terrible but at times he really like he was stuck between rock and a hard place. All their appointments he had missed, all the little moments of watching their child grow in her had not been seen by him and it was his own fault. No one corrected him there, not even his own mum. She had reminded him again when they had stopped in to his old family home on their way here.

They were having a son, inside her their baby boy was growing and becoming strong. And their child was strong if they were going to go on how Calli reacted to the kicks she received. ”A little Copeland boy…” he breathed, the smile unable to leave his face, he was very happy for it to remain in fact. ”How do you feel about having a boy first?” Neither of them would notice that they had both said the word first in relation to their son but maybe that was just another sign. ”Have you got any names in mind?” he asked her perhaps too excitedly.

The past few weeks had been odd, to say the least. Not only had their been a complete role reversal between the couple, but things had steadily becoming real. The house, the nursery, the doctors appointments, nearly every day was full of something new but all with the same endgame, for their son. Today though had been the weirdest of all for them, everything with Samuel had been odd and not only was she finding it unusual that she wasn't even wanting to pry. Samuel being distant just wasn't normal, sure after their disaster of a double date things had been tense and they had been distant with each other but after they made up, it was as if nothing had happened and as far as Calli knew, she hadn't done anything wrong to make Samuel act this way again and it worried her but somehow, somewhere within the worry she'd managed to dismiss it.

Calliope had been worried that tonight wasn't going to happen, not because of Samuel but because of herself. Ever since she'd fallen pregnant, migraines had become an almost daily occurrence for the witch and some days they'd been more tolerable than others but today? Today had been one of the worst migraines she'd had in a long time, and she felt bad that she had been relatively grumpy a couple of times. The only good thing about it was that it had also meant she wasn't going to pry because she'd been trying to avoid overexerting any of her energy specifically so tonight could go as planned. It was a stroke of luck that the migraine had eventually faded an hour before they were set to leave, but she had a feeling that it would eventually come back with a vengeance.

The witch knew that Hannah missing out on so much was taking it's toll on both Samuel and Carol and Calliope hated seeing them both so upset, but she did her best to keep Samuel's thoughts away from moping about it too much. She knew some people would probably look disapprovingly upon it and say it was cold but Calli knew what happened if Samuel dwelt on things and it was never good, so trying to keep his thoughts suitably distracted from it was the best game plan for all their sakes. Calli would be lying if she said she didn't also wish that Samuel's sister had stuck around, sure she'd never met Hannah and she didn't really like the idea of it, especially considering her ties and what she'd heard from Samuel but really, for the sake of her boyfriend and her son, and even Carol, she couldn't deny it would have been nice if Hannah had stayed.
On top of all of this Calli knew Samuel regretted that he couldn't always be there for her but she knew it wasn't his fault and she did try to remind him, even if it fell on deaf ears. She of course knew why this was, she knew one of Samuel's biggest fears was turning out like his own father and she also knew that he had a tendency to compare himself to his father when he missed out on things, regardless of the fact Calli reassured him that wasn't the case but her wizard was like her in the sense that when they believed something, it was damn near impossible to shift it and make them know that wasn't the case at all.

Calliope sipped a glass of water that the waiters provided them with when they'd taken their seats and nodded, sending a grin towards Samuel, and a giggle passing her lips as he spoke aloud that they were having a boy, and of course the couple had already agreed that he would take Samuel's name, after all if Samuel were to ever ask her to marry him, she'd have no second thoughts in changing her surname as well so they may as well get ahead of it and make sure they wouldn't have to eventually change their sons surname if and when they were to ever go further in their relationship. It was easier and Calli was happy with it. The brunette tilted her head musingly at Samuel's question and rested her finger on her lip, ”I could go for the cliché of, I'm just happy we're having a healthy baby, but that's too mundane. I'm glad we're having a son, apparently they're easier to raise than daughters.” She laughed, tucking her hair behind her ear. ”It also means we have someone who can chase off boys when we have a daughter and we can't.” She added on as an afterthought, her lips quirking up into a playful grin. Referring to their son again as 'first' was automatic for Calli, she really didn't think much of it and she was pretty sure Samuel was the same, after all he had said it himself as well. She already knew without really thinking about it that she wanted more than one child with Samuel. It was odd for the witch really because this time last year if someone asked her if she wanted any children she'd wrinkle her nose in disgust and scoff, but now with Samuel things were different and for once in her life she wanted a family with the wizard sat across from her, picturing a family with anyone else was damn near impossible.

Names? She hadn't actually thought about that yet and she looked at him carefully, her blue eyes flashing thoughtfully, ”No, actually I haven't… It's something we can do together between now and April though at least. Have you been thinking of any names?” Calli asked curiously, leaning forward so she was a little closer to him, her smile steadily growing as she thought about the prospect of being able to start calling their son by an actual name.

. Family had always been important to Samuel and he was glad that he had been blessed to have Calliope in his life and that tonight he would be able to take the next step in making her his for a lifetime. The two of them had had their difficulties, but that was the case with all relationships. Samuel had definitely witnessed that many times as a young child with his own parents. He often renewed the promise to himself that he would not turn out like his father should he ever meet the right woman one day. Now that he had Calli were together and he knew that she was the woman he wanted, he knew that he would do anything to make them work. Of course the ad hoc double date they had been part of recently had been serious divergent off their path in this relationship together. Perhaps Samuel had been an idiot that evening but they were putting that behind them. While his ex may have had fun that night at his expense, he certainly hadn't.

Samuel was determined to make Cali happy, but he had failed in many of his attempts to do so. This kind of shook the man, he was so used to being a perfectionist that he tended to take any failure very personally, even if his girlfriend tried to change his mind from from that way of thinking so many times but he was very set in his ways. This of course was not ideal but Samuel had always aimed to be the best at things. It’s why he thought himself to fly since his father was never around, Madam Hooch at Hogwarts had helped him of course when he had been a student but the man had wanted to be good at it before he started at the school. It was why he wanted to look after his mum and sister as best as possible and step into the role his father should have being doing. It was also why he aimed to look after his best friend as much as possible even though the man was older than him. And now that he was head of his old house,he tried his best to excel at that to. His students were very important to him. Soon his son would eclipse them terms of who was more important but that was going to be a given, really.

He and Calli and him were having their own little boy and the man tried to wrap his head around that. It had taken him a considerable number of weeks just to get used to the idea he was going to become a father. It was something he had wanted for so long and now it was a reality that was approaching very fast. He was now going to have get used to the idea of his son calling him ‘dada’ or ‘dad’ just like Calli would have to get used to being called mum or some derivative of it. Samuel couldn't wait to hear their son say those words but at the same time he didn’t want him to grow up too fast as he wanted to enjoy every moment of him being just a baby. Samuel was prepared for the two am nappy changes and he was prepared for all the late night crying sessions. His mum told him to enjoy it all no matter how much it may take a toll on him and Cali and how little sleep they may get. Samuel that while he and Calli may be pushed to the brink when their baby arrived but they had a lifetime of love, hugs and cute moments to look forward to and it would be worth all the effort and the difficult moments ahead of them.

It was a shame that Hannah would not be witnessing any cute moments but then again Samuel had to remind himself that was her own doing. She had chosen to leave again. He pitied Calli each time he went into his old of blaming himself for his sister’s departure. She often tried to pull him out his rut he was thankful for her patience with him. He hoped their son did not turn out like him when it came to blaming himself for any and every situation.

Samuel wondered if there was any point with him waiting until later in the evening to propose but they had could only take one bit of joyous news at a time he supposed. As Cali spoke of their son protecting any daughters they may have in future a faint smile crossed the man’s features. He only hoped that their son didn't go to the lengths he had with Hannah. Samuel knew he be torn if it ever got to that stage being their father but also not wanting his son and daughter(s) to have a fractured relationship. ”Did your father tell you daughters are harder to raise?” he laughed as he ran his finger around the rim of his water glass. ”But you are right in saying that he will be there to look after any younger sister or sisters he may have…..” he smiled as he tried to imagine himself high-fiving his son when he manages to successfully chase away any boy that breaks his daughter’s heart.

Names...names...he hadn’t given much thought up until now where names were concerned for either boys or girls. However now that Cali had posed the question to him, he supposed he could think on the spot. He was used to doing that in being Head of Gryffindor. ”Well...James is obviously out of the question” he said very quickly but Cali knew why that was the case. ”I always liked names like Nicholas, Mason, Jeremy…do you like any of those?” he enquired as he took her hand and entwined their fingers. It was her left had too, the same hand that would soon be bearing the engagement ring he was going to present to her.

A family was something Calliope had believed she didn't deserve, alongside the obvious fact that she hadn't wanted one but they both worked with each other. After her relationship with Lucas, she'd been left beaten down and broken (quite literally), she had no self worth and she had accepted that would always be the case, but Samuel. Samuel had been the light in her very dark life and he continued to brighten up her life. He was patient with her, when she got emotional during arguments out of fear he would lash out he would always comfort her and reassure her that wasn't the case. She didn't enjoy it but it was nice to know she was safe and actually loved by someone.

Watching her wizard Calliope could tell his thoughts were beginning to wander again and she had a gut feeling that it wasn't in a good way, she didn't want him to get upset tonight when they were out enjoying herself, although if he did get a little upset she was confident she'd have a way to cheer him up completely when they got home after their meal, but for now she just had to keep talking and trying to steer his thoughts away from his family. She wanted to enjoy tonight, it was why she was trying to push the thoughts of Lucas away almost immediately after she'd began to think of him, the bastard wasn't worth any of her time or thoughts at all. She was better off now, more mature and ready to face her own biggest adventure when it came to being an adult. Being a parent wasn't something to take lightly and she wasn't going to.

Calliope shifted a little as she turned her attention to Samuel and her lips curled up into a grin, ”My dad did tell me that, but then again I may just have been incredibly difficult. I was a demon when I was a kid and still a pain until I got with you.” Calliope laughed, she knew her dad had been relieved when she'd finally settled down, even if he had been a less desirable partner for Calli, but the brunette hadn't cared. She knew that her dad just wanted her to be happy and she knew that even if he hated Samuel for the rest of his life, as long as Calli was happy, Percival would be happy. ”Technically our son would be there for any more children we have, it is the oldest siblings job after all.” She said, playfully taking a jab at the fact he was living proof of that.

Calli tilted her head to the side looking thoughtful as she continued to tap her bottom lip with a single finger, it was a given that James was definitely not going to be a choice of name. She would have thought Samuel insane if he'd suggested it. ”I like Mason and I like Jeremy.” She informed him, trying both the names to see how they felt on her tongue before switching them around each other in an attempts to try them as a first name then a middle name. They were both nice separately but putting them together wasn't going to work. ”I like Austin.” She offered, then trying Austin with both Mason and Jeremy, using the same tactic as before. Jeremy Austin sounded quite nice to her. ”What about Jeremy Austin?” She finally suggested aloud, turning her gaze to Samuel and smiling at their hands, rubbing her thumb along his and pulling his hand closer to her so she could press a gentle kiss to his knuckles.
