general appearance
Long smokey brown curls frame a soft face offset by a decidedly stubborn chin, and a somewhat full mouth. Her resting face takes one of three pretty-similar-looking forms: irritated, downcast, or lost in thought. Her olive-toned skin tans easily, and she makes the most out of it, and she's most often found with tanned, sunkissed skin-- yes, even in winter, thanks to begging her mother to take her on digs as she got older.

CW: SUICIDAL THOUGHTS, AND PASSIVE ATTEMPTS

To Violet, everything could be mapped out.

There was her birthday-- February 26th, 2001, where she exited one place and arrived in another, followed shortly after by her brother.

There was her first signs of magic, moving her from the map of Maybe This to Definitely That, to moving to Hogwarts and being Sorted into her House, making friends, moving her into a brightly-colored section of a political map. When the Ministry changed hands, she stuck pins into circles that were maps in her head, attempting to find connections between things. When she was held with other students, the pins clustered together. When they were let out, and her mother was gone, she put in new pins.

But that's getting ahead of everything, and includes only what Violet found important, not what happened in between.

After her first signs of magic, Vi's power went a bit dormant, leading to worries that it had actually been Arthur's magic that had been seen. Her own was quiet, barely really magic at all-- unlocking doors that her parents might have forgotten to lock, a light growing brighter as she read a book under her covers, unlikely aim in throwing items in a temper-- items such as another letter from her mother that didn't have a definite return date, or a time ages in the future.

Violet admired both her parents, wanted the same type of mutually beneficial relationship, where her mother found items, categorized them, neatened them up, and sent them to museums or to her father, who would then go on to polish them and sell them. She thought that that how a marriage was, how it ought to be. While her other was away, she missed her horribly, and would get into arguments, all the time denying she was as young and silly to miss her mother like a baby.

Thanks to that, she would sometimes argue with her mother when her mother was home from trips, as if to prove to herself that she didn't need her. Shortly before Hogwarts, she grew out of that, and even pried her way into going on a few of the trips on the absolute outside without interfering-- on the more local projects, at least, or going to museums and talking her way into the back, where she could watch things happening.

When the Ministry changed hands, Violet sent letter after letter to her mother, until they couldn't send letters anymore. During the lockdown, she kept attempting to send letters, and isolated herself. She had five friends, and four of them were Muggle-born. They went away, and went missing, and two went on the run. Vi didn't know that, and it took her months to find out that Phoebe had been murdered. Mina was the second who couldn't escape; her employers killed her before 2018.

During the lockdown and the following months, Vi spiralled heavily into depression, and isolated herself from almost everyone. She ate her meals in the kitchen, she saw only Clio, Arthur, and the Hufflepuff team for when she needed to practice. She spent more time on balconies, wondering about falling. She grew more reckless in her Quidditch dives and movements, almost as if she was making attempts. Sometimes, she might have, she's really not sure. That recklessness nearly got her off the team but helped her win matches, because if she didn't care about life, what was the danger in crashing?

A letter from their mother changed everything-- sending news to her and Arthur that she was alive. And off Arhur and Vi went on the tangled, thorny path for the truth.

family history

Rosalind’s family is made up entirely of muggles: Arwen Danvers and Edgar Montego met at St. Tomas’ Hospital in London, England. Arwen, a neonatal nurse, was always the first to help Edgar, the sweet Orphanage owner, with whatever he needed. It wasn’t long before the pair of them hit it off. After a few years of flirting, Edgar finally got up the courage to ask Arwen on a date. A few months later, they were engaged and married in a small village in the south of France.

They had always wanted kids — at least four or five — and when Arwen found out that she couldn’t conceive naturally, she was heartbroken. There were very few medical options for them, and they had all but lost hope, when a few years down the line, Arwen realized that they had been granted their greatest wish. Arwen shortly thereafter left her job as a neonatal nurse and began working with Edgar at the orphanage.

When Roz married Watson, the Montegos were not happy about the match. They always told their daughter that they didn’t approve of her husband, but she failed to listen (Roz is very head strong). They often have their grandchildren, Violet and Arthur, over and watch them.

The Strouds are a family known mostly for their financial success. They've been around for about 200 years (therefore not among the oldest families), and they made themselves a name as very astute businessmen. (In the context of this app, it should be stressed that the majority of the Stroud ancestors preferred to stay on legal grounds though some were known to balance very artfully on the line between legal and criminal.) The origins of the family are shrouded in uncertainty, it can only be guessed that the first known Stroud who married the only daughter of a wealthy owl-farm owner in 1809 was Muggle-born or even a Muggle. From this point on, the Stroud family owned a decent amount of money that was constantly growing from generation to generation, mostly due to their talents in business related matters, but sometimes also through clever marriage tactics (whereby no Stroud has ever been heard of to have cared about anything like bloodstatus).

Watson's great-grandfather then founded a real-estate company, the Stroud Magical Holding. This proved not only a very profitable business, but also an opportunity to get in contact with the most important wizarding families all over Great Britain (and sometimes even beyond). When Watson's father took over the company, it was already the most important and respectable of its kind in Britain, and the venerable man did all he could to keep it that way. He married the daughter of a wealthy apothecary (whose son was also very successful, establishing a whole chain of apothecaries). The only big crisis the Strouds had was in the nineties when money kept disappearing from their company and they couldn't find the source of the leak. Only when they ordered their eldest son upon his return from Egypt to find out who takes the money, did it slowly stop. They were glad that their son showed so much talent for leading the company, glad that he had founded a family. On the whole, the era of Watson's parents was successful, as they worked hand in hand, and only entrusted their eldest son with taking over the company in 2013, concentrating themselves on spoiling their grandchildren. Their younger son has also a job in the company, but he hardly gets anything to say.
