general appearance
Warm and dark brown eyes are deepset in a strong and well-shaped face, framed by medium-length black hair. Her mouth is definitely made for smiling, and even when deep in thought a half-smile is on her face. Strong hands, calloused palms, soft fingerpads.
She definitely enjoys hiking, and her legs show that love.

character history
Galenia Lupita Ollivander Álvarez was born in 1977, to very overjoyed parents Ganimedes Ollivander Diaz and Aleja Álvarez Mendoza. Within a few years, she acquired two younger brothers, neither of which she was very impressed with. Her first memory is of her parents deciding on the names of her brothers-- more specifically of her mother pointing at a book, and her father throwing up his hands in exasperation. The words “You’re kidding, right?” and “What? It fits!” are latter amendments to the memory, shared by her parents. Her first signs of magic, suitably enough, took place in Ollivanders, when she attempted to pull down a stack of them to play.

Ganimedes had had difficulties in Hogwarts, and thus decided to have his children homeschooled. He thought it would be easier for them to take up wandmaking as they grew, and arranged for tutors to teach his children, nieces, nephews, and cousin's children what they needed to know. The children enjoyed it tremendously, and grew close. From the start, Galenia enjoyed the sections on wandmaking with her famed great-grandfather the most. At fourteen, she began helping out in the shop, at seventeen made her first wand, and began working under her great-grandfather.

The day her great-grandfather was kidnapped, he'd sent Galenia and her cousin home early for someone's birthday dinner, and he never arrived. Voldemort had been rising, and seemingly, he wanted wands. So Galenia's family then did what they felt they had to do--one by one, they removed the wands from the shop, and left the country for France, where they stayed for a year and a half, and Galenia met her future spouses there. After the War was won, they returned home, and opened up shop again-- though now Garrick was no longer allowed to be on his own, and there was always one of his descendants with him at all times.

Galenia found herself to be very lucky, as if to make up for her great-grandfather’s torture. She found two partners who loved each other and her. There were a few months of awkwardness in how to work the relationship, but soon enough they found a rhythm and a lifestyle. When Galenia was twenty-one, they decided they wanted to marry. They drew straws to decide the order, wands far out their reach. The order was decided-- Galenia would first marry Adrienne in the Muggle world, then Galenia would marry Ottavio in Las Vegas, then Adrienne would marry Ottavio in a Ministry-approved setting. If they timed their elopements correctly, they’d all be married within the day, Galenia’s surname spread to both.

Adrienne was a few years older than Galenia; while Galenia was working her great-grandfather’s shop, a half-planned pregnancy happened and several months later, Adrienne gave birth to the triad's first child: Gaia. Three years later, Galenia gave birth to their son, Gervasio. Galenia worked at Ollivanders, where at times s she simply called herself Galenia Álvarez and sold wands that way. It wasn’t as if she wasn’t proud of her father’s family: she simply wanted others to acknowledge her mother’s as well. It did help that when it was not known she was an Ollivander, people acted like their truer selves-- to them, she was not the scion of a famed line, merely a shopworker.
She and her spouses adopted a child together, and things were going well. There were rumors, but Galenia couldn't act on rumors-- she was of Ollivander's line, she sold wands to all. To put a wandmaker on one side of a war was to ask for infamity, to open themselves and the art up to danger.

She was thirty-three when Ophelia was hired on at Ollivanders. Galenia was, out of all of Ollivander's descendants (including those of her great-aunt Gráinne) the one who took most after him-- it was to be expected that the shop would eventually pass to her, after her father/grandfather/one of her uncles. Though Ophelia was a generation younger, Galenia found herself taking to the younger woman quickly. The younger woman wasn’t Ollivander-born and trained in wandmaking, but she had a good head on her shoulders, a good head for problem-solving, and a natural ability for task-setting, and Galenia had never much liked the logistical parts of being a manager.

After seventeen years in the shop, Galenia was above her in that ability. In seventeen years, Ophelia would be past Galenia’s current level. Her great-grandfather was getting older and older, and Galenia tried to make a suggestion about Ophelia’s future at the shop, only to find out Garrick had made the same decision. It pinched, but as Galenia had had the same idea, she couldn’t be upset.
When her great-aunt Gráinne passed away in 2011, a lot of the heart was sucked from her great-grandfather, and it showed. He stepped down in 2013, and advanced Ophelia to Manager. There had been non-Ollivander managers before, so it was able to be done without much trouble or discourse within the wandmaking branch. It was, however, a surprise, when he chose Galenia as his successor to owning the shop, rather than his son Garelan, or any of his own grandchildren. He’d passed over two generations of wandmakers for one of the younger ones.

Galenia had four children then, three spouses. Ollivanders was ancient, passed down throughout her family, and she would not let it fail. She didn’t need a higher salary, didn’t need special titles, and couldn’t bear to be away from the thick of the action, the glee in a child’s eyes, the relief in an adult’s. She could own it-- and she could still work there, the gold she earned only (relatively) unchanged.

family history
The shop holds that it was established in 382 BC (now BCE) by an Ollivander who arrived in Britain with the Romans. Both are ... technically accurate, but they happened at two different times. The space that would eventually become one of the foremost wandsellers in the world was founded by a native Celtic family, who slowly gained a reputation and a name for wandselling. When Ollivander arrived with the Romans, he married the only daughter of the clan, and set his name and traditions on top of the families. Though the name is now lost and the family all-but-forgotten (in all but their wandmaking traditions, that is) their legacy helped Ollivander start his stall.

Within the past hundred-something years, the inheritance changed the way it worked. Typically, it was a near-unbroken line of father to eldest son (who worked as his father’s apprentice), Gerbold Ollivander decided that his shop was to to pass to the child who loved wandmaking the best. As it so happened, the son who felt wandmaking in his soul was his eldest, and the shop passed to Gervaise Ollivander. Gervaise married relatively young, produced some children (the eldest his more-famed son Garrick Ollivander), and took over the shop of his fathers, uncaring that his choice of wife might drive some away. It did not, much to his father’s relief.

Garrick Ollivander was a famed and studied wandmaker, born in 1850. He married another Muggle-born, and had a son and daughter, in that order. His son Garelan decided to see what techniques were popular in other countries, and travelled the world after his graduation from Hogwarts. Rather than finding already-known and discovered techniques, however, he found a witch who allowed herself to marry him. Castoria Diaz Amezquita was a naturalist, and often would run into Garelan while he was out exploring, and when they kept meeting up, and the shorter, anxious and unintimidating man (Garelan would like more flattering words, but they’re unlikely to happen-- other than a kind personality and a knowledge of wands, he had little to offer) amused her in the ways that he would seek her out for help as he would get caught in traps, roots, and trees.

They spent ten years in Puerto Rico, during which they had children. When they moved to England, Castoria became a large help to her father-in-law, having some further knowledge of different sorts of wand woods and cores.
Castoria’s sons inherited their mother’s drive, and their father’s love of wands. The elder took to it more, and Ganimedes Ollivander Diaz much preferred working in the shop under his grandfather’s eye than seeing how high he could advance.

When Ganimedes sold Aleja Álvarez Mendoza her second wand, he wound up accidentally taking too much change for it. When he realized, he ran out the store, trying to find her. He wound up running up and down Diagon until he found her. Unfortunately for him, by the time he caught up to her, he looked very little like the composed employee he had been earlier.

And for what happened after? well. Galenia has younger siblings, and they're still very happily married.
