Sienna didn't do bonding with Amelia and Athazaz, especially not the latter. She had her own kids to worry about, kids who she was related to by birth. The whole situation had been bothersome when she had Blaise had gotten married, and she had nearly poisoned the pair out of irritation. They were twins, after all. They shouldn't be apart. But she was saved from having to do that, saved by bearing heirs to the family, saved by Athazaz having the Bones name. She didn't want the kids around, not really, but she might as well embrace Amelia. She couldn't have any more kids, and really, she did want a daughter.

That didn't mean that she was warm and fuzzy, though. Sienna treated the girl with the same business approach that she did most other people, brushing her off when she was useless and parading her when it was necessary. For now she was attempting to drag Amelia into some proper clothes, hoping that the shopping would not be so fruitless. It really was possible that this was going to be, but Amelia did have an engagement so she wasn't doing so terribly.

Then again, Nadir was engaged, and he was a child.

"Don't think of embarrassing me with anything so... low cut," she murmured, crinkling her nose at a blouse on the rack in front of them. Honestly, she would have preferred that the girl wear pants instead of something so repulsive. What about dignity? Grace? Being proper?

"I would never, Lady Sienna." It was a pretty enough shirt, if not for the gaudy colors, strange lines, an abundance of lace, and odd cut-outs. It was likely made for someone taller, thinner-- she'd seen other girls wearing many shirts of the like. On Amelia, shorter and curvier, it would hang awkwardly, the bright floral design stretched and warped. "I don't quite understand why so many decide it to be fashion. In a handful of years at the most, they'll want to burn all memories of it."

Molding to the fashion was one thing-- a few subtle designs, tints in precious metals, settings of jewels, and perhaps sizes of them. Her piercings were fashion, and likely in a few years, she'd've closed them up to the tradition hole in the earlobe. She rarely filled them all, and was careful to keep it from looking what others deemed trashy, and were usually small, or in looping patterns so many of the elder witches in the Ministry enjoyed. "I embarrass myself by giving attention to it."

The Solstice Ball was coming up, her first event as an engaged young lady. She was quite sure that was the motivation behind half of that-- Lady Sienna Parkinson Zabini did, after all, have very precise standards, as did her lady Jidda.

Back in school she remembered trying to match the times, but Sienna couldn't recall wearing something as ridiculous as half of the things she was seeing. At least she could count on some of the designers to be more prudent in choosing the correct attire for a young lady, but she knew that she was going to have to be completely and utterly specific in how she wanted Amelia dressed. She didn't think that the girl was going to be all too stupid about it. She was sure that she realized that her livelihood really depended on charming the right individuals. And if she didn't... Well, she couldn't fault anyone who took advantage of that, could she? Despite the slight amount of protectiveness she felt towards Amelia (which she would deny to anyone who asked) she couldn't completely shield her from the world. Amelia was, despite the name, only half of a Zabini. She was still a Bones, too, and Sienna thought that they pampered her to ignore that. She didn't want to think of the girl as too dreadful of a traitor; she was only born, after all. She had so far chosen the correct family.

At least Athazaz had the Bones name, and he would stay out of her way. He didn't like them, and Sienna was fine with that. She had her own three boys to worry about, and she could keep that one at a distance. She was hoping that she could push the child farther and farther away, but he did that on his own. She didn't even need to bother. It was thankful, really. He knew his place. He didn't need to be reminded of it. She hoped that he would fade into oblivion at some point so she could forgive Blaise's idiocy, but... Well, he was still there. At least he was overshadowed by Kamil, Laurentin, and Nadir. At least she could focus on her children and then, by default, Amelia.

If she had had a girl, she wouldn't have to worry about Amelia. She could have ignored her. She could have pretended like it wasn't a miracle to have even gotten a disgraced Travers. "Unfortunately, that is fashion," she remarked, crinkling her nose. They so often looked back at what they wore with disgust. She tried her hardest to never fall victim to fads because of that simple little thought. "We will find something that is not too embarrassing."
